Reviews for The East End Arms

Review 1:Quite a lot of dust found and the bathroom mat was full of holes.

Review 2:Lovely atmosphere in the pub/restaurant. Bedroom spacious, bed really comfy. Nice touch with the coffee machine.

Review 3:Sadly the cleanliness really let it down. There was a lot of hair and dust around the toilet, coffee stains on the wall and the bath mat was all frayed and had a massive hole in it. The shower had mould all over the grouting. I have stayed here before and always really loved it, so was rather disappointed by the lack of care in housekeeping.

Review 4:The bed was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The place itself is very nice and it's in a lovely location. And a nice hearty breakfast is available in the morning.

Review 5:It's not a dislike as such but we couldn't get a table at any of our chosen restaurants on the Saturday night in Lymington. Book first!

Review 6:Good food, friendly staff, especially Manager Danielle. Comfortable room and a great location

Review 7:Friendly, welcoming staff. Lovely "local" bar. Well prepared unpretentious food served by helpful and friendly staff. Very comfortable, clean room. Excellent breakfast. Yes, we loved it!

Review 8:Very cold in room. Shower was broken and not any hot water. Bed was suppose to be a double but was two singles put together. Very noisy, you could hear the people downstairs singing.

Review 9:The dinner and breakfast menu were very nice. Nice sized room and bathroom. Lovely waitress Lovely vintage country décor.

Review 10:Staff were friendly and enthusiastic. The room was spotlessly clean.Shower/bath was exceptionally good.Bed was very, very comfortable.Breakfasts were excellent.

Review 11:No bad experiences. Lesson learned though not to stay in small inns during half term as 7.20 am saw crying kids and fighting siblings running between rooms and banging on parents door for attention for nearly an hour solid. Nothing the hotel can do about that - hopefully the parents will next time.

Review 12:Perhaps the most comfortable bed and pillows in any hotel! Attention to small details and beautiful Tattinger champagne available at the bar for only £6.95 - allowed me to spoil myself that little bit further. Incredible value for money and a stunningly quiet location yet so near to everything you want from the New Forest.

Review 13:Wonderful pub. We loved the spacious room and the facilities. We found the staff very polite and prompt with service. We had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent.

Review 14:We often stay here because it is very comfortable, unpretentious, with lovely staff, super food and always a very warm welcome. As usual, we had a very nice room with touches of luxury, much more boutique than might be expected in a country pub, with a superbly cooked dinner, drinks by an open fire first, chosen from an adventurous menu and with great wine. Breakfast was, as usual, superb. After only one night we felt thoroughly relaxed, as if we'd been away for much longer. We already plan to return.

Review 15:Breakfast was nice but we had to ask for marmalade and were only given one slice of toast. Think it would be better if they put sauces and choice of jams etc. on the main table with the cereals and also provided a choice of juices and maybe some yoghurts?

Review 16:Lovely, large modern room decorated to a high standard. Incredibly comfortable and warm. Great restaurant downstairs, where we had a delicious dinner.

Review 17:The staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful. Room was beautifully clean and comfortable and décor was excellent. Took a chance on staying here but proved well worthwhile. Would definitely stay again. You really can't go wrong here.

Review 18:I would have preferred the wash hand basin to be in the bathroom rather than at the bottom of the bed! Would also have liked to maybe see a curry & rice on the evening menu?

Review 19:Cracking full English breakfast, didn't need anything else all day! Good quality meals on offer in the evening & nice choice of beers, loved the old black & white photos in the bar

Review 20:booked this for my installers, and they rang me specifically to say 'the best accommodation they have EVER had' ! extremely comfortable beds, good sized rooms, excellent food -they could not compliment enough ... well done !

Review 21:Lovely feel. Very homely with modern comforts. Provided fresh milk for teas/coffee. Shown to room which was a nice touch. Managed to get us a travel cot as requested at booking even though we didn't need in end. Wonderful fresh cooked breakfast.

Review 22:Modern comfortable room in nice country pub. Excellent restaurant. Quiet location in New Forest, but you need to drive to go into Lymington. Good wifi connection.

Review 23:The setting was brilliant cows and ponies roam the new forest and we saw several . The hotel was lovely peaceful atmosphere most comfortable room with a comfy bed and coffee machine and tea making facilities . Lovely food and great staff . Would recommend

Review 24:This isn't a bad experience, but it's happened twice now - only two slices of toast offered at breakfast, so we have to ask for more, which makes us feel a bit greedy!

Review 25:This was a return visit, we've stayed on three or four previous occasions. Friendly staff, comfortable room with touches of luxury, particularly enjoy fresh milk for our room and a superb evening meal. We always feel thoroughly relaxed after a night's stay, and we will return.

Review 26:That we weren't there longer!

Review 27:The rooms were lovely. Spotlessly clean. Beautifully decorated and the bed was so comfortable I didn't wat to get out of it the next morning. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and it was delicious and the breakfast was the bed full english I have ever had. the staff were all really helpful and friendly

Review 28:Being a solo traveller it did not affect me but it seemed the reading lamps either side of the bed operated off just one switch such that they could not be turned on/off, independently which was a little odd and may not suit everyone!

Review 29:Great bed, good shower and lovely food provided by lovely staff.

Review 30:Not bad but this is a very popular pub therefore gardens are used all evening which are below the rooms so very noisy till pub closes. Would be an issue if you wanted a quiet evening

Review 31:Excellent food and staff

Review 32:Comfortable and the staff were very helpful . I would stay there again, but one must have a car. Lovely to be in the New Forest, a country pub but not noisy.

Review 33:From start to finish our stay at The East End Arms was excellent. We had a friendly welcome and loved the comfortable room we had for the night. Everything was catered for, we even had fresh milk. The food in the restaurant was amazing and the service matched. The breakfast choice was of the same high standard. We would have no reservations in recommending this place.

Review 34:Low level lighting in the bathroom kept coming on and going off all night. Bathroom door would not stay shut so we didn't get much sleep.

Review 35:Room was lovely - huge comfy bed and nice soft furnishings. Didn't have to ask for fresh milk in the room - it was offered as a matter of course. Breakfast excellent and it was nice to be asked if we wanted an extra egg. Close to Lymington but on a quiet country road on its own.

Review 36:To offer a proper breakfast only from 9.00am was in my view awful. I did get a tray in my room overnight, so that milk and fruit juice were warm after a hot and humid night - not appreciated!! The other food was okay, but not great and poor value.

Review 37:The room was clean and comfortable.

Review 38:The pub itself is immediately appealing from the outside with ample parking. We were shown to our room which was clean, comfortable & very modern in style. Having had the BEST shower ever we went down to the bar & relaxed on comfy leather sofas & chatted to other guests whilst savouring a very welcome glass of Albarino. The meal was superb. Our room was in the front but there was no noise & we slept like proverbial logs. Breakfast again, was superb and it was a shame we had to rush to leave.

Review 39:Very nice room, lovely décor, delicious dinner and breakfast, friendly welcoming staff, delightful atmosphere. We were on a return visit and have already booked our next stay.

Review 40:Had to request milk for the room and breakfast time is very late (after 9am) though not critical for this particular stay.

Review 41:Clean well furnished room and very quiet. Good restaurant and friendly staff.

Review 42:Starting breakfast at 9.0 am is to late if you are a business stopper, 7.30am would be more realistic. I got a pack of cornflake and a pastry on a tray in my room.

Review 43:Quiet comfortable room.

Review 44:The weather could have been better!!!

Review 45:Lovely location, friendly staff nothing was too much. Locals in bar very friendly. Excellent choice of breakfast.

Review 46:Very peaceful area with hardly any noise made for a good nights sleep. Room very comfortable and modern, provision of fresh milk for tea was a lovely touch. Breakfast was included and a great choice, hot and delicious. Great location for what we needed. Would definitely recommend!

Review 47:Very welcoming staff, nothing too much trouble. Had two very nice pub meals in the evening. Relaxed atmosphere, and well supported by locals (would book a table)

Review 48:Great mix of real pub and superb restaurant. Stylish & comfortable rooms. Wonderful collection of photographs in restaurant. Dinner & breakfast both delicious. Will definitely return.

Review 49:We arrived shortly after 3.00pam to find the place locked. This is not what is stated on the Booking.com confirmation. We had to wait till the manager eventually turned up to say they closed until 6pm in the winter and anyway she had the week off... Much later we were reluctantly offered a free drink but it was actually put on the bill and we had to pay for it. A very bad experience which actually broke your booking rules - look into it!

Review 50:Comfortable room - to include a Nespresso Machine

Review 51:Proper country inn with a saloon bar for the locals and a lounge bar for the guests. Very comfortable room and superb food served by happy and well informed staff. Returning soon!

Review 52:Lovely ambience - clearly a locals' pub (great beer!), but very welcoming to guests. Excellent food and lovely situation, on the edge of the New Forest. We hope to go again.

Review 53:Having to leave.

Review 54:Great little place to stay, log fires, real ale cosy public bar and separate dining area. Rooms were well furnished and very comfortable,Bathrooms modern and clean. High standard of decor throughout.

Review 55:The staff, the food, the real fire, the atmosphere, the location, our comfortable room with lovely bathroom, great bed, nice décor, very characterful place - it was our second stay and like the first, we left feeling completely restored and relaxed after just one night. What a great place, we will return.

Review 56:Cannot fault any part of the stay, room was beautiful and the food and drinks were superb, all the staff were friendly and helpful.., Will definitely rebook M.Passey

Review 57:That we had to leave.....

Review 58:Friendly and welcoming staff with log fire and fresh milk for the room. Excellent ales and a small but lovely menu. A proper pub in a quiet but accessible location. Comfy beds and good decor. Excellent value.

Review 59:After a very difficult day we arrived to a warm welcome, an upgraded room, drinks before dinner by the open fire and a superb meal. Breakfast was one of the best we've ever had. Luxurious in every detail, unpretentious, we shall return. I felt completely restored and renewed by the time we checked out.

Review 60:Full English looked very good but I'd opted for smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. I must've been given the whole packet of smoked salmon, there was a mountain of it and modest amount of scrambled eggs. The toast with it was good though and less over facing. Shower was not the best but adequate.

Review 61:Bed was very comfy, as was the room overall.

Review 62:Nothing

Review 63:The ambience, the people, the food ... it's something out of the ordinary. Oh, and the photos and John Illsley's artworks. The quiet, tucked-away location so close to tourist traps is fantastic.

Review 64:There was nothing we could think of that was wrong with the East End Arms.

Review 65:We stayed here overnight for our wedding anniversary and were very pleased with our choice. The pub was in an excellent location and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and reasonably priced and we would happily recommend the pub to others. The room was lovely, spacious and very clean. If we were to make a suggestion (more from a positive view than negative) it would be to maybe place some tiles or splash back behind the tea and coffee shelf as there were marks on the wall from people making beverages in the room and maybe a dressing table for the ladies as they like to have somewhere to sit with a mirror when getting ready but as we said these are only things we thought about as we were staying in the room. Overall a pleasure and we would love to return.

Review 66:Nothing .

Review 67:Great quiet location, although on a road.Friendly efficient staff. Well decorated ,clean rooms.Good breakfast.Small well kept courtyard garden.

Review 68:i think breakfast could have been served a bit earlier, perhaps starting at 8am instead of 9am.

Review 69:mainly the location. food was good. staff were friendly.

Review 70:Myself and my Fiancée had a birthday meal while staying here and our meal was fantastic. I had the Beef Cappaccio and Calves Liver for Mains and both were superb. The sauce for the Liver was rich but just enough and not too over bearing! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Review 71:The only minor criticism I have and this is really a point of information for other guests is that breakfast does not start until 9 am - this was NOT a problem for us but might be a problem for other future guests if they want to get out and about early.

Review 72:The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and efficient. The food was freshly prepared and of good quality both at dinner and breakfast. The beer was excellent and varied - three Ringwood beers and a guest. The location is very rural and quiet and was very convenient for visiting local attractions (Beaulieu etc) and the IOW ferry from Lymington.

Review 73:All the facilities exceeded my expectations for this small hotel in the outskirts and have no reservations in recommending it to others and will. Book there again it the future.

Review 74:Generator outside our room was a bit noisy and also made the room over-hot

Review 75:Comfortable bedroom with bath and shower. Staff helpful. Good choice of food and service in the restaurant

Review 76:Absolutely nothing

Review 77:The staff, Jenny and Gareth, very helpful, lovely people. Loved the comfortable, large bed and the excellent shower. The décor is very pleasant, enjoyed the furnishings. Has a great atmosphere, the best of country accommodation and meals.

Review 78:Nothing really. It's a matter of opinion whether breakfast not starting until 0900 is an issue for you.

Review 79:Very clean and well equipped rooms. Public areas had a nice ambiance. Food was competitive on price and good quality. All the staff were interested in good and friendly service.

Review 80:Delicious beer and food at this conveniently situated hostelry, and a comfortable room and night's sleep. Good car-parking in an off-road car-park, although due to popularity of the pub with the local population, cars were also parked all the way down the road outside

Review 81:Flies in the restaurant. Given the countryside location and the exceptionally warm weather this was understandable. However, some form of insect control could have made the dining experience more pleasant.

Review 82:A little way off the beaten track so a good place to avoid the crowds yet still busy enough to have a nice atmosphere. Excellent evening meal, friendly staff and a very comfortable bed.

Review 83:Everything was to a very high standard - the room, the bathroom, the food. I noticed many well-executed details which means the owner was intent on providing the best.

Review 84:Loved the little snug bar with local ales, the restaurant food in the evening, the ambience of the place, the comfort of the room and the proximity to lymington for practical stuff

Review 85:Nothing!

Review 86:Friendly staff, good menu, large comfortable bed, excellent bathroom with shower etc. Wonderful peaceful village in The New Forest. Perfect for a night/or 2 away from it all, or just somewhere to stay when attending a wedding nearby.Local reliable taxi booked for us by staff. All round 10/10

Review 87:Staff were sullen and did not smile. Cost was more than advertised as I put that we were husband and wife but were shown only the single cost and charged an extra 29 pounds even though we book a twin room. Food was very expensive 12.50pound for plain fish and chips and peas. service at meal time not great.

Review 88:Bed was comfortable. room was pleasant.

Review 89:Coffee machine in room not working, told staff but nothing done. Room has noisy plumbing as I think the drains from every other room run through No 5. Dont know of the chef has changed in the last few weeks but although my evening meal starter was excellent, my fish was swimming in grease and the chips were well overcooked. Overall this stay was dissappointing and I wont be using this facility again.

Review 90:Comfort of bed and quiet location.

Review 91:Hotel had not taken on board our request for twin rather than double rooms. They did however compensate us by giving us money off and a round of drinks

Review 92:Great modern and clean rooms Excellent shower Great food Quiet location

Review 93:I wasn't quite sure what to do with my key on the Sunday morning as the pub was closed, I popped it through the letterbox, but perhaps a key drop off point would be good.

Review 94:Nice location, I had a very good, quiet nights sleep once the general movement from the pub died down at about 10:30. The staff went the extra mile and left me a breakfast selection outside my room as I was leaving too early on the Sunday. The Nespresso machine in the room was also an appreciated touch. Overall very nice and would be happy to recommend.

Review 95:Upon arriving the heating was not turned on (ours being a December visit). This was immediately remedied when we asked for it.

Review 96:The accommodation is very tastefully decorated. The beds are extremely comfortable.

Review 97:Welcome, food, comfort of the bed, countryside, silence

Review 98:the food was lovely and the restaurant itself was cosy the landlady is very friendly and the locals were chatty lovely stay will defo be going back

Review 99:reccomend it to anyone and for the food just wow good enough to serve at any top restaurant staff fantastic and freindly just great 5*

Review 100:Relaxed atmosphere and comfortable room. We had an evening meal and it was fabulous. Close to Lymington.

Review 101:Excellent, they kept the public bar with raucous locals included.Glad the owners listened.

Review 102:Excellent room and food whilst maintaining a local feel in the bar.

Review 103:Location and service. Food also very good.

Review 104:The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room was clean, beautifully designed and comfortable and the food was simply amazing!

Review 105:Would have liked fruit for breakfast

Review 106:Lovely room Delicious food Helpful staff

Review 107:Excellent stay. Highly recommend it. Lovely girl sorted out a birthday cake for my husband!

Review 108:Friendly Staff. Wonderful rooms. The food was absolute fantastic

Review 109:Excellent location. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was 5star.

Review 110:Friendly, relaxed, lovely location and excellent food
