Reviews for Harbour House Bed & Breakfast - Wick
Review 1:I cut my stay short after two days and had to change hotels as I was getting bitten by bed bugs. Room didn't feel clean and the carpet was grubby.
Review 2:Room upgrade on arrival. Nice views of harbour from Room 2. Prompt refund for nights unstayed when I left early.
Review 3:The icey draught coming through gaps in the window - double glazing would make the room more comfortable.
Review 4:The owners were friendly and happy to oblige when I requested additional items such as fresh milk and a blanket. Plenty of choice for breakfast which was provided in the room.
Review 5:A little hard to find , the sat nav said I was there , but the sign outside is very small , maybe a bigger sign needed
Review 6:Great little b&b with a lovely view of the harbour Staff polite and helpful Good value for money
Review 7:Too much technology in room fittings. Would have preferred simple light switches, an easy-to-operate shower and ordinary taps (the one in the bathroom one wasn't at all easy to use, making temperature selection and filling the kettle very difficult). Also breakfast bar seats were very small and high.
Review 8:View of the harbour from the bedroom, including grey seals. Good breakfast. Spacious room.
Review 9:Difficult to find, welcome was not by actual host , accommodation was very average , breakfast was served in room on small table with limited choice of meal.
Review 10:Staff friendly
Review 11:Excellent location,a short walk from Wick station(train) - the view from my room was absolutely breathtaking, looking out over the harbour/marina.I was hoping to see the Northern Lights, but unfortunately didn't manage it this time!! Would definitely recommend this B+B - I only stayed overnight, but I would love to go back again someday. The breakfast was fab too ...I couldn't fault it,staff were lovely!
Review 12:Breakfast in your room. The breakfast waa good but would have been better in a dining room area
Review 13:The room was surprisingly better than expected. We dropped our luggage off at approx 11am, the front foyer was covered in flies and we were apprehensive about the rooms. They were good
Review 14:Not terribly well signed outside the premises. Stairs might be a problem slept some.
Review 15:Enthusiastic welcome, Breakfast - although I had advised I didn't want a huge breakfast that's what came. The owner had advised his breakfasts only come in one size but I felt bad about wastage. View - having breakfast looking out over the harbour.
Review 16:Host was flexible with time of breakfast (we had to leave early in the morning). The house was few minutes walk from downtown and 10 minutes walk from train station. The room was spatious and bright. It is a peaceful place, great for taking walks and trips to most north locations. Must see museum.
Review 17:Third floor room but the owners live in an chose the best floor for guests, hardly an issue unless you have suitcases and don't like lugging them up two flights of stairs, having just climbed 4 of the 5 highest peaks a set of stairs is nothing!
Review 18:Compulsory breakfast in bed, lovely friendly hosts, well located for a quick trip to Wick. Lovely house that's been done up and very good sized rooms!
Review 19:The welcome and the facilities in the room, particularly the multi-purpose small high table by the window, which took up little room but was perfect for a range of activities, including the consumption of the excellent breakfast served the room and takeaway meals that customers are allowed to bring in from outside.
Review 20:A bit hard to find from Satnav as Sign was very small and high up. Single bed was creaky/squeaky
Review 21:Friendliness of Keith & Virginia Superb Breakfast Free Wifi - worked really well and quickly
Review 22:The internal stairs would not be suitable for those with a problem with their mobility. Breakfast is served in the bedroom, which was a little cramped, as there is no dining room.
Review 23:The staff were friendly and helpful and everything went well for us. We made a good choice staying here for the night on our way north. It is centrally situated and there is no problem with parking.
Review 24:The room was clean and comfortable. The beds were fine. Breakfast was very nice and plenty of it. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.
Review 25:No dislikes
Review 26:I had just finished cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats. As preplanned Keith the Landlord of the Harbour House B&B was able to pickme and my bike up from jog and took me to Wick. After a good night sleepand hearty breakfast, served in the room I walked to the airport, as theB&B is well placed for the town and airport. I was made to feel sowelcome and also, for cyclists, I dropped my bike off at Spot Cycles, around the corner from the B&B, and they boxed and shipped it homefor me. It could not of been easier.
Review 27:A friendly and helpful welcome from the proprietors, a clean, well-appointed room and bathroom, and delicious breakfast served on the dot of the requested time. My room had a fantastic view over the harbour. Can recommend staying here if in Wick.
Review 28:Beautiful room. Breakfast in room concept is an innovate one. Lovely views of the harbour from the room. Generously sized single room. A short walk to Wick town centre and railway station. Friendly owners.
Review 29:Carpet in the bedroom was stained and a bit grubby and could do with being replaced at some time in the near future.
Review 30:Good view over the harbour from my room on the top floor. Breakfast was delivered to your room at the time of your choice between 07.30 and 09.30.
Review 31:Thecwalk to my bathroom although I had it all to myself. The bathroom could use some quality renovations.
Review 32:Convient location, host was extremely helpful
Review 33:Really nice B&B located overlooking the harbour. The owners were very friendly and helpful with suggestions of places to visit and good places to eat
Review 34:We were a trio so my wife and I shared a room and our friend had the room next door. The rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious with an en-suite toilet and shower room. The owner and family were very helpful. The breakfast was magnificent with my dietary needs (Coeliac) being met completely. The location was excellent as a base from which to explore Wick by foot. Parking was easy. Certainly worth a return stay! Thanks.
Review 35:Bathroom was very dirty. Rusted shower shelf did not help. Toothpaste and soap all over the shower doors. Floor very dirty and dusty around toilet and sink. Tea stains down the wall and un ironed bed linen. Very noisy with people shouting and going in and out of rooms until after 2a.m
Review 36:The views, friendly staff.
Review 37:I didntn when I first entered I was like o God but was happy
Review 38:The room having breakfast in you bed which i have never done before And having it with the view of the harbour
Review 39:Bathroom floor was so dirty I decided against having a shower. Hairs everywhere. Also careful not to put bare feet on bedroom floor as carpet was grubby. Valance on bed was dirty. Have not stayed anywhere this dirty since backpacking days 30 years ago. Thin walls - noise from neighbouring room.
Review 40:Welcoming staff after a long journey. Good breakfast but disappointed that it was served in room.
Review 41:easy to find b&b, very informative information on where to find shops etc, very pet friendly, very helpful staff and landlady and warm and welcoming.
Review 42:The décor was dated and needed refurbished. The furniture again was dated, cheap and not very pleasing to the eye. There was no sitting room, and breakfast was eaten in your bedroom at the small table at the window - not much room for the price you were paying.
Review 43:The owner was helpful and the breakfast very nice.
Review 44:Cleanliness is not a strong point, the shower was actually quite dirty. The hallway smelt of stale cigarette smoke and the lower hall was full of discarded items. Breakfast wasn't that good - it was overdone and dry.
Review 45:The bedroom was large and warm. The bed was clean and comfortable and I received a warm and friendly welcome.
Review 46:The shower cubicle wasn't clean. Cracks from somewhere in the window caused the coldness and wind to come into our room - due to this we did not have a good sleep. Breakfast menu was not accommodating for those who are vegetarians/vegan. Overall, we felt that our stay was not worth the price.
Review 47:The staff were very friendly, helpful and approachable. And having breakfast in our room made it a relaxed morning.
Review 48:Rooms are in need of modernising. Downstairs hallway also needs renovating.
Review 49:Friendly and helpful owners, comfy beds, free WiFi, and a delicious breakfast.
Review 50:Being picky the table and chairs were actually stools and a type of bench you'd have in a bar. Would prefer normal table and chairs to enjoy the breakfast
Review 51:Room was clean and tidy and warm and the harbour view delightful and the host made us feel welcome
Review 52:Ideally situated, we were on the LEJOG Hero Rally and Harbour House was 4 mins from the event dinner venue. Was perfect for getting around Wick on foot and great view from top floor room. Extremely friendly welcome
Review 53:The room is up two flights of stairs. That didn't worry me too much but could be awkward for some people.
Review 54:Private bathroom is not en suite, being across the landing, but was for my use only and very spacious, with a bath as well as shower. Comfy bed, just what I needed for my overnight stop in Wick.
Review 55:The b&b was very tired, room needs modernisation separate bathroom was a disappointment as it did not lock from outside bathroom any other person could also use it left after 1night went elsewhere very disappointed
Review 56:Chairs in room for breakfast are very small and uncomfortable. The cleanliness of the shower door and sides of the sink unit were dirty.
Review 57:Friendliness and help from Keith.
Review 58:The outside entrance is very plain looking but beyond that I liked everything else.
Review 59:Comfortable place, nice staff, very helpful. Owner recommended a great little Italian cafe near by (yes an Italian cafe in Wick Scotland, go figure). Also recommended a convenient taxi service up to John O'Groats and back. Next morning B&B owner served up a fantastic breakfast while in full chef attire. The surrounding Harbor provides a nice view.
Review 60:The bedrooms of this old building are upstairs; probably unsuitable for people with disabilities.
Review 61:Harbour location and sea views. Breakfast served exactly on time. Friendly owners. Old house of character.
Review 62:Nothing wrong with the B&B. I felt Wick town was a little run down.
Review 63:The view across harbour, the nearness to the old Pulteney planned fishing town. Owners were very friendly and I felt it was the sort of place where I could happily stay longer as I would like to have explored more of Caithness if I had the time.
Review 64:Entryway had a disused refrigerator and bicycle in it, 2nd bed in twin bedded room was unmade, allowing me to see the stains on the mattress. I had paid up front, so it was too late to do much except run to Tesco and buy a king sheet and pillowcases to cover the bed I was going to sleep on (not in). Bathroom was filthy. No two ways around it. There was dirt everywhere. Breakfast was delivered to the room, and looked OK, but based on the overall cleanliness of the place, I couldn't eat it. 45 GBP for one person was ridiculous considering how dirty it was. Never again.
Review 65:The owners were nice, but this place just isn't up to the standards of even a youth hostel.
Review 66:Noise around 12.30-1am from (I assume) other guests. Door banging etc. Unavoidable so no real concern though.
Review 67:Lovely welcome, nice room with great view and breakfast served to me. Easy walk into Wick for some dinner in the evening. Good wifi service. Only there for one night but nice place even for a short stay. Watch heavy luggage, thankfully I could take a small bag for my stay, as there is no lift and 4 flights of stairs!
Review 68:I had to clean long hairs & fluff from the bathroom floor before we could use it. Cleanliness was poor. Wi fi kept cutting out. Doona had "waves" of sponge in it. Part of my breakfast was forgotten. Chair seats were small, & table size was inadequate. TV was difficult to operate & reception cut out.
Review 69:Friendly greeting & good window view.
Review 70:This single room has a private spacious and clean bathroom, the fact that is outside of the room I didn't like. Other rooms has the bathroom inside.
Review 71:The owners are very friendly and helpful, I wish to have this kind of people in other hotels to. The breakfast served in the room was really good. The night is quiet here. Parking is free on public spaces. Wifi is free and the signal is excellent.
Review 72:A good place to stop after finishing Land`s End to John O Groats. Warm, comfortable and a good location close to the train station overlooking the harbour.
Review 73:The outside, but don't judge a book by it's cover!
Review 74:The owners cannot do enough for you, an excellent, three course if you wish, breakfast is served in your room delivered by the chef on a tray. You can then sit and eat it watching the boats in the harbour out of your window. The rooms are furnished simply, but are spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The shower was heaven! To cap off a wonderful experience, I'd just finished cycling from Land's End to John o' Groats, and in the excitement of the finish, I'd forgotten to get my form stamped to certify I'd completed it. Keith kindly drove me there and back in the morning before my train left to sort it out, and wouldn't take payment. All part of the service to our guests was his response. If you're needing somewhere to stay in Wick, just don't hesitate. This is true hospitality in lovely surroundings, at a very reasonable price.
Review 75:Broken fridge in doorway, Hanging filthy curtains on second floor windows. Flies in entrance. Second floor where landlady lived dusty/filthy and Smelly. Our room was modern and well done out but not cleaned. Payment demanded upfront and breakfast (Which we did not have) choose 4 from 6 items.
Review 76:Leaving
Review 77:The room & bathroom were beautifully presented & clean. Having breakfast in the room was an excellent idea & the food was delicious. A very well thought out B&B...thank you
Review 78:Wick is not the most attractive of locations! The entry was off-putting, which made the rooms a real surprise.
Review 79:Superb family room with ALL mod cons (including a Jacuzzi shower!) Good views from each room over the harbour Unusually each room has a breakfast bar - they bring a superb breakfast to your room so you can eat looking out over the harbour in privacy.
Review 80:- Not clean, especially the bathroom - Breakfast was way below standard. Served in the room but really greasy and not fresh - Smell of sigaretsmoke in the whole building
Review 81:- Spacious room - Quiet location but still close to the towncentre
Review 82:list too long but mainly- not very clean, leisure room not usable, out of date biscuits breakfast not always on time, shower not working properly,no room service, rubbish only emptied once in a week, builders working outside window in morning, scaffolding up and so on after some negotiation we had a small refund to compensate
Review 83:location
Review 84:Not suitable for disabled people. Too many stairs to climb. Unusual to have breakfast in room.
Review 85:Grand view from the room across harbour. Central location for eating out.
Review 86:External buildings works taking place whilst we were there but it didn’t affect our stay.
Review 87:Very friendly and helpful owner. Willing to get up at the crack of dawn (or before) to make a packed breakfast for us to take on the train back to the south. Historic town - sadly passed its heyday - interesting nevertheless.
Review 88:Being on the top floor with no elevator was difficult for my elderly father, but still excellent bed and breakfast!
Review 89:Great breakfast which was serves in your room. Friend staff! Lovely views over the harbour.
Review 90:Right next to harbour so couldn't sleep for the noise of seagulls. Room was stuffy, old fashioned and tatty with ancient artificial flowers which must have been there for yonks. Bed was uncomfortable.
Review 91:It had a good shower. Breakfast was served in room and was ok, but poor choice of cereals.
Review 92:The noisy doors to the rooms. The "tired" appearance of the general décor. The quilt wasn't long enough and I'm only 5'4".
Review 93:Breakfast in my room although the toast was cold. A convenient location for the rest of Wick. The friendliness of the owners.
Review 94:Dirty carpet. Filthy bathroom.
Review 95:Nice room
Review 96:the room was nice and clean with a nice view of the water
Review 97:Should be about £20-£25 a night in my opinion
Review 98:Location as it had a nice view from bedroom and breakfast brought to room
Review 99:Fantastic hosts, incredible food, brilliant location, lovely rooms. Ours had fancy touch lights and an amazing view. A wonderful experience.
Review 100:Comfortable , breakfast very good .
Review 101:Great place to stay love it!!!
Review 102:Nothing to dislike
Review 103:The helpfulness of the owner and the early breakfast when I had to leave early on my last morning
Review 104:The accommodation does what it says on the tin. No frills but clean and friendly. The breakfast was really nice.

Review 118:Nothing at all.
Review 119:Very helpful host. The view was amazing and wick is lovely. We would definitely stay here again.
Review 120:Good breakfast served by smiling Keith.
Review 121:The carpet was a little grubby and some things could do with updating.
Review 122:Breakfast was brought to our room according to choices made the night before.
Review 123:Good welcome, communications and just what we needed for 1 night.
Review 124:not very clean
