Reviews for The Who'd A Thought It Inn

Review 1:Towel rail was inoperative -L/S BALLVALVE REQUIRED SCREW DRIVER TO OPEN. Booking suggested toiletries' - consisted of a single piece of Lux soap marginally bigger than a postage stamp, no other toiletries'.

Review 2:Small,cold,dirty room, very expensive for what you get, room should be £50 a night, look somewhere else, Glastonbury is great, this hotel isn't!!

Review 3:Great location..

Review 4:Pipes made a noise when someone in a neighbouring room used the bathroom in the middle of the night. Bedroom quite cramped.

Review 5:Friendly staff, range of options for breakfast, nice portion size, not too large.

Review 6:The male landlord ruined our weekend stay with his rudeness. I have never known such an unhospitable host. I would not recommend this stay to anyone. Our party booked 3 out of 5 rooms and were shocked at his lack of hospitality professionalism, what a shame he ruined the bigger picture.

Review 7:Great location

Review 8:Nothing ?

Review 9:The food was excellent particularly breakfast. Quirky small room but adequate and central to town for convenience. Busy early evening but staff were friendly and accommodating

Review 10:The room is very basic but as expected .

Review 11:The pub us in an excellent location right in town. The food is very good and it is a quirky little place exactly what you would expect during the Glastonbury experience.

Review 12:Checked in by a miserable landlord Room 5 is above a noisy air con unitthat runs all the time. When we asked to move rooms we were told no !Didn't stay for breakfast as we had been awake most of the night dueto the rumble of the air con .....never again - will be booking theGeorge & Pilgrim in the future !

Review 13:Leaving !

Review 14:Our room was above a noisy generator or something similar. That was noisy all night. So very disturbed night.

Review 15:Very good choice for breakfast. Clean room.

Review 16:Immediately you enter the pub you are hit with the smell of cooking fat which is very off-putting. The entrance/stairs to the accommodation is very dark, dingy & musty smelling. We thought the menu was overpriced for pub food & didn't fancy eating there because of the smell of stale chip fat!

Review 17:Excellent cooked breakfast Room, although small, was clean & freshly decorated. Clean, recently refurbished bathroom

Review 18:Was a little off putting to be asked for the room fee before we had even saw the room or indeed stopped for breath once we had arrived. Staff could have smiled a bit more, they didn't seem to be at their happiest! As we had eaten here in the past we thought we would stay as we were initially impressed but will not stay here again.

Review 19:Room was lovely and clean and the housekeeper was friendly and very thorough when cleaning our room, went the extra mile. Location was perfect and a nice getaway. Food is good here having visited Gladtonbury a couple of times a year for the past few years.

Review 20:Wifi wasn't available in our room. (Only in bar area). Our room was a bit small but very clean.

Review 21:The staff made us feel welcome and the food was delicious! Couldn't ask for a nicer group of people welcoming us to Glastonbury! The head chef, Julia, was running the pub while the owners were away. She was very accommodating to making us feel at home.

Review 22:Check-out is at 10am which meant it was a rush to get my daughters out of bed and ready to leave in time. That said, we were nearly an hour late checking out and nobody commented.

Review 23:It's quite a quirky inn, which appeals to me. The breakfast was very nice.

Review 24:Trout 'special' on the dinner menu was not fresh, however the staff were quick to provide an alternative. Room was small, and at the end of a long passageway.

Review 25:Good value for overnight stop to see Glastonbury Tor and town. Excellent free parking. Friendly and efficient staff.

Review 26:No Wifi in the bedroom, I know from booking it said it wasn't available in all rooms - and we thought that would be ok - but we were unable to get a connection in the bar either which meant we could not Skype my partners son.

Review 27:Loved the food, we ate our evening meal there, and the breakfast was good.

Review 28:This inn is located very close to the center of Glastonbury. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. The food was of an extremely high standard and delicious - we had two meals there. The general atmosphere was welcoming and hospitable. I recommend it highly to anyone who wants to stay in Glastonbury!

Review 29:It was advertised as free toiletries but that was just soap and a watery liquid in a machine by the shower so had to buy shampoo etc from nearby chemist. Not complaining though because the price per night was very reasonable.

Review 30:Staff were very helpful and friendly

Review 31:We arrived late and tired and needed a hot shower. The shower didn't work so we told the lovely woman behind the bar who had only been working there for a few days. She didn't know how to fix the problem and tried to contact the owners. We gave up at 11pm but just as we were about to go to bed the woman told us the owners had returned and fixed the problem. In the morning, the owners were cooking the breakfast and didn't approach us at all to offer any apologies for the problem the night before...in fact, they were quite cold towards us. We would have had dinner at the pub that night but decided to spend our money elsewhere. The next morning the owners were even colder towards us. Very unprofessional.

Review 32:The location

Review 33:The room smelled damp when we arrived and when we pointed this out to the proprietor, she denied it saying she couldn't smell anything. We pointed out the leaking shower and the loose tiles around the shower but she still denied any damp smell.

Review 34:Good location and a good selection of ales and cider

Review 35:They took payment before showing us to our room (I wonder why?) which was very small and basic. Our room was above the kitchen so constant noise from the extractor fan so difficulty sleeping. We booked a table for dinner on the Sunday evening. Was just given the menu and not told of any 'specials', i.e, the Sunday Roast and Sword fish which we found out were on the menu after we had ordered. Staff not trained properly otherwise this would have been automatic.

Review 36:Location. Glastonbury itself is a lovely and interesting place. Breakfast was good.

Review 37:The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the rooms very comfortable. A perfect location right in the middle of the town. We will be back!

Review 38:Very unwelcoming and unhelpful senior staff. No flexibility - rigid on meal and checkout times. Dealt with quite unpleasantly and gave impression that life would be better if there weren't any customers!

Review 39:location and parking

Review 40:This isn't an historic property like the George & Pilgrim, most of it was built in the 1990's. They were short of staff as well. The employees were great but quite overworked.

Review 41:We booked only one night because we needed a room at the last minute. It was a bit expensive, but right in town, near the bus stop and the Abbey. You have to haul your luggage up 3 flights of stairs, but the room was nice and the restaurant in the pub downstairs was excellent. The steak we ordered was the best I've ever tasted, served with stilton cheese and a portobello mushroom on top, with Guinness on tap. Yum!!!

Review 42:Just one small thing we didn't like. There is a old fashioned red telephone box right in the middle of the bar, if the ugly, live sized, scary manikin doll was removed from the box it would look fab! It just gave me the creeps Other than that nice place.

Review 43:The pub is quite quirky, with a rustic feel. We did not eat our evening meal in the pub, but the menu looked nice. The room was comfortable, with a great shower. We really enjoyed our breakfast.

Review 44:The room lacked character. It would be nice if the room reflected the ambience of Glastonbury itself. Very plain and boring decor.

Review 45:The location was good, food was great, room was kept immaculate each day by maid including clean towels daily.

Review 46:Nothing

Review 47:The inn is close to the heart of Glastonbury but when you close the door to the room you could be a million miles away. Excellent service and the food was amazing.would definitely stay here again. X

Review 48:Only Room 1 has a reliable Wi-Fi, Room 3 has none. Hotel looks a little dated but, hey, this is what an 'English Pub' experience is all about. Windows can't be opened due to security concerns.

Review 49:Friendly owner/manager, close to everything, reasonably comfortable and clean rooms, renovated bathrooms, Room 2 has a bathtub.

Review 50:I booked because of the location and the WiFi which I need to work from my laptop. The Wifi was non-existent in the room and was only just available in the bar area which is totally unsuitable for working. The room was small and basic and really over priced for single occupancy at £85.

Review 51:Staff were great, especially the guy behind the bar and who checked me in. He was very professional and very friendly.

Review 52:Staff while not rude were unfriendly and unhelpful. There was a horrible smell from the kitchens that pervaded the corridors especially outside the bedroom doors. This was a problem that they could have solved easily by keeping the door to staff area closed

Review 53:Great location ideally situated close to shops and local landmarks

Review 54:Wifi was bad but that seemed down to a provider problem speaking to one of the waitresses nothing to do with the inn

Review 55:Everything! Lovely place, lovely people, very relaxing and proffesional

Review 56:nothing really wifi could have been better but that's not the staffs fault

Review 57:friendly staff great food and staff couldn't do enough for us even moving our cases for us when we had to change rooms

Review 58:Room small, kept bumping my leg on the corner of the wooden frame. Shower gel hopeless, no lather. Overall very pleased we stayed there.

Review 59:Location. Restaurant. Friendly staff. Outside sitting area, lovely in the sunshine.

Review 60:1. no attempt to fulfill request for vegan and gluten free breakfast. There wasn't even any fruit - fresh or otherwise! 2. the room was damp when we arrived.. it didn't feel as if it had been ';aired' before we arrived. Heating was poor.

Review 61:location was good

Review 62:Being criticised for wanting to use my laptop, and having to explain it was on Mothers Day to contact my kids.... also disapproved of me wanting a fried egg? Shame as we really enjoyed our stay otherwise and would like to come back twice a year if possible...

Review 63:All the above

Review 64:Breakfast was OK - but the waitress didn't invite us to utilise the juice, cereal or jam options that were available, and as my partner and I didn't actually notice them until after the main cooked breakfast was served we missed out on this part of the breakfast choice.

Review 65:Location was excellent - all of Glastonbury town centre was an easy walk away. the hotel was also across the road from the one (the Hawthorn's) where we watched the band that we had come especially to see.

Review 66:As always great hospitality, stayed in a double room with ensuite, our room had a shower, room was very clean. Excellent customer service, meals were wonderful.

Review 67:Could not get wifi in our room. Our room was on the small side and directly over the kitchen. Saying that the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good.

Review 68:Good location in centre. Parking.

Review 69:10am checkout. not told until the following morning so no shower or breakfast for me. Breakfast till 09:30 with a little speach regarding cooking lunches taking priority. All it took was to explain the time on check in. Small oversight but really ruined my day having to drive 4hrs with too little sleep and no shower or breakfast.

Review 70:The room was nice if a little crampt.

Review 71:With a bias, as this pub bed and breakfast is in Glastonbury, it was a fab venue. Staff were lovely. Glastonbury is a historic town and this venue is part of the heritage, right in the centre. The breakfast was good too.

Review 72:Pillows on bed Shower needed a good clean and shower head was black and just needed cleaning

Review 73:Great local produce food Great location Great beer Excellent staff Very accommodating

Review 74:Only 1 pillow each. Poor choices and understanding at breakfast for those with special dietary needs. Owners rude and made us feel unwelcome. First place we've ever stayed at where we couldn't wait to check out and go home.

Review 75:Evening meal was good. 10% off for those staying too. Central location and free car park. Access 24 hours. Bar staff and waitresses were lovely.

Review 76:there was no wi-fi at all, i was told to come down to the bar if i wanted to use it, bit of a disaster as i neither own or watch TV.,i was invited to park in the public paying car park, although the initial sell informs you , free wi-fi and onsite parking..read the small print at the end of the page.

Review 77:The pillows were wonderful.

Review 78:all good

Review 79:Everything was good, nice room, nice bar, and really good breakfast. This is a good location for glastonbury and a nice cosy room for rainy days.

Review 80:Very noisy, double room above the bar ... could hear all movement on staircase and even conversations from bar/dining area. Bed wasn't the worst that I've slept in but it wasn't comfortable and with the noise, it didn't make for a good night sleep. Definitely not worth 150 pound!!

Review 81:Location was excellent, centre of town, walking distance to everything. Small double rooms but clean and good shower. Included breakfast was very nice.

Review 82:Corridors little dark on way to bedrooms

Review 83:Staff were really obliging and friendly. Great location for town. Food amazing and large portions!! Definitely stay again.

Review 84:Nothing to dislike, really.

Review 85:Very close to the main streets of the town, but just far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. My room was smallish but adequate and perfectly clean and well decorated. Excellent vegetarian breakfast, nicely presented. The purpose of my visit was to attend a party where food was provided, so I didn't have my evening meal at the hotel, but was told there was a 10% reduction for guests. Judging by the breakfast I imagine it would have been very good.

Review 86:The rooms were a little too small. The wifi didn't work, when fixed only work in rooms 1 and 2. We had some difficulty with the heating.

Review 87:The staff, especially Lena, were very friendly. It was possibly the best breakfast in Glastonbury.. The parking was easy and spacious.

Review 88:Bathroom very small, burnt myself on the heated towel rail more than once!

Review 89:The room was small but had all the facilities you would expect, TV, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities. The staff were friendly and ready to answer any questions and help with any problems. Although the rooms are above the pub, noise was not an issue.

Review 90:The breakfast although very good quality produce, butter and milk was slightly skimped as was the bacon and no white bread. Not important to some but a good traditional breakfast is important to me. Not liking cereals or hash browns I would have liked fruit or grapefruit but none was available.

Review 91:Location, location, location, out of the door and straight into the amazing place that is Glastonbury. Nice period village feel to the Inn with small but comfortable room. The liquid soap in the shower was exceptional. Good Inn food on offer and friendly staff.

Review 92:Creaky floor (nothing they can do about this, it's an old building) Food is a tad expensive if you are not a resident.

Review 93:Location Pub food (if you stay you get 10% discount) Excellent breakfast, great selection Good hair dryer Welcome tray has biscuits!!

Review 94:Could have done with a bit more room around the bed. Also two chairs would have been nice

Review 95:The inn was easy to find the breakfast was excellent as was the dinner that we had the night before customer service was of a high standard

Review 96:Squeeky floorboard outside the room as it is an old building can be anoying when guests arrive late.

Review 97:The location and the food are ecxellent. The breakfast was superb and is included in the price. The staff are very nice and if you don't like to go out anymore after you arrived the pub food it outstanding.

Review 98:The hotel/pub was very welcoming and clean with a great atmosphere. The location was in the Centre of Glastonbury with ample parking. Breakfast was included which had a great choice in the menu. Highly recommend.

Review 99:Room was very small (room 1) . Difficult for two people to move around in at the same time. No toiletries provided.

Review 100:Free parking, central location, good food and beer, lovely breakfast,

Review 101:Handy location. Not far to walk to centre but far enough away from the night life. Food at dinner and breakfast both good. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 102:Absolutely nothing

Review 103:Loved the staff and food- everyone was so friendly and helpful- made us feel so at home- like a big family sleepover. The town is a must see- we absolutely loved this quirky town and the inn was the perfect compliment to this town.

Review 104:The location is perfect, it's central to everything, shops, pubs, restaurants etc. the rooms are a little small but more than adequate and spotlessly clean, the hosts Bill and Ness were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely return here.

Review 105:The instant coffee at the breakfast table reminded me of 1940s Britain.....and it was definitely not pleasant!

Review 106:The very central position. The room: it was not too big, not too small with a nice choice of furniture. A window that opened into a terrace

Review 107:stairs and floors upstairs creak badly could hear every person who came up stairs past our room. food good but over priced car park difficult to find

Review 108:location bar

Review 109:Lack of wifi reception in our room (Room 5); the room was a wee bit small and sparsely furnished - no bedside tables.

Review 110:Excellent central location with free parking, great food in the restaurant, hearty cooked breakfast, comfortable bed.

Review 111:nothing was bad!

Review 112:the staff was wonderful! everyone did a great job. my room was cozy, the bed amazing. it was a very peaceful place, though it had a pub downstairs, and what a pub! i recommend to eat there, it might seem a bit pricey, but it was more than worth it. the wait was almost non-existent in spite of everything being freshly cooked, and that the pub was as good as crammed. breakfast was included, and i rarely eat breakfast, but on the other hand I never had breakfast like this, either. freshly cooked from a menu!

Review 113:Room very small for 2 people and nowhere to put e.g. clothes overnight. It would be helpful to have even one chair. Bar closed by 10 pm so it felt more like a b&b than an inn - we had hoped to return for a convivial drink after a short outing late evening.

Review 114:Evening meal and breakfast. Comfortable bed. Interesting building. Location central but quiet.

Review 115:Only a slight criticism, but the room (no 5) was pretty small - just enough room to walk around the double bed (and we're not exactly large people!), but not enough space to unpack properly - not a huge problem for the couple of days we stayed, but could have been more of an issue if we'd stayed longer. The bathroom basin is also very small - I nearly banged my head on the shelf above every time I used it, or dripped water all over the floor. The room was also very warm, and we struggled to sleep well even with the window wide open. All minor criticisms though - we had a really nice stay!!

Review 116:Friendly staff and good service. Good choice of great tasting food & nice wine (some local still cider would make it even better!). Onsite parking - and free! 2 minutes from centre of town. Nice modern room, with a good shower. Full of character! We had a really nice time here, and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Glastonbury.

Review 117:Very small room (no4). Generator outside window hummed all night.

Review 118:Fantastic meal in the pub. 10% off for residents as we'll but well worth it without that. Friendly welcome and staff.

Review 119:Hard to find the entrance to the car park, directions should be on their website.

Review 120:Perfect location, 2 minutes walk into the centre, yet incredibly quiet, Lovely big courtyard, perfect for a drink and dinner in the hot weather we had. Very friendly staff. Small room but perfectly formed. Very good shower..

Review 121:My room (a very small and somewhat cramped double) was at the back of the hotel overlooking the kitchens and some sort of noisy generator - so there was a constant hum. Had to sleep with the windows closed. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, especially as there was no fresh coffee and I hate instant!

Review 122:The staff are really friendly and welcoming. I've eaten in the restaurant a few times and the food is always excellent. Bar, restaurant area and beer garden all lovely. Good range of beers, wines and impressive array of single malts.

Review 123:My room over looked the beer garden and there is a road alongside it, the only thing I didn't like was the traffic noise passing the hotel during the night.

Review 124:The food is great. I had dinner there on the day I arrived and as I was a guest got a discount on my evening meal. My room was lovely and clean and the shower was fabulous.

Review 125:My husband thought the English breakfast was poor, but I thought it was average.

Review 126:As well as the good location, we liked the room which was smallish but nicely furnished in a traditional style. It was very clean and had a good shower in the en suite bathroom. (Remember to bring your own toiletries, as they are not provided.)

Review 127:We were made very welcome and the staff helped in arrangements for us. The food was excellent and good value. The room was decorated to high standard and keep very clean

Review 128:Creaking floors and thin walls made sleep a little difficult but accept this would be difficult to overcome due to age of Inn.

Review 129:Good central location, great food and friendly staff. Clean room and bathroom.

Review 130:No late check out. Had to be out for 10am New Year's Day

Review 131:Great town centre location. Really really good grub

Review 132:Flies in room with damp sheets and carpet. Room very small.

Review 133:Food and people were good.

Review 134:It wasn't clean or well maintained. Clean towels and new soap each day in a dirty bathroom. Pointless!

Review 135:Location

Review 136:Pub shut just after 10pm on a Saturday!

Review 137:Squeaky clean rooms, lovely food, delicious breakfast

Review 138:Old style pub, excellent breakfast, friendly atmosphere.

Review 139:Central to places of interest and town. Cosy pub good parking?
