Reviews for The Glen Hotel
Review 1:Good location next to Ettrick Water and just a short walk to Selkirk town centre. Very spacious rooms, with a ground floor room available for those with limited mobility. Friendly and welcoming staff. Good breakfast with plenty of choice and really nice evening meals in the restaurant.
Review 2:Nice room with a decent big bed and excellent food. I had evening meal as well as breakfast - the evening meal was reasonably priced and satisfied even my appetite! Friendly welcome - I will certainly use again if I'm in the area.
Review 3:Only one real(ish) bitter served much too cold for my taste.
Review 4:Friendly family run establishment, relaxed atmosphere. Truly excellent food, good variety on the menu, retaining a local influence.Nestled in an interesting small town, set off by the wonderful Scottish Border countryside
Review 5:I am so glad that I selected the Glen Hotel to stay this year while attending a Classic Vintage Rally. Steve & Antoinette were excellent hosts and were very 'pet-friendly' with no hidden costs unlike some other establishments.
Review 6:1 hour window for breakfast Sharp increase from single to double occupancy for the same bedroom TV didn't seem to work
Review 7:Friendly staff Good home cooked breakfast
Review 8:Nothing not to like
Review 9:Warm reception by Steve - albeit the lateness of the hour was such Comfy bed Quality cooked brekkie even if we were late (albeit we were bride and groom) Late checkout implicitly All round friendly helpful service - couldn't do enough
Review 10:Found the beds to be a little too firm. We had to leave early, so no breakfast, but we were offered a continental breakfast which did not impress, consisted of cereal, orange juice & milk, both left uncovered outside the door, and hard dinner rolls with butter and small pots of jam. Not impressed!!
Review 11:Evening meal was tasty, with good service.
Review 12:No crisps or peanuts at bar No hairdryer in room although got one from reception These are very minor points

Review 14:The extremely friendly and welcoming family who run the hotel. Nothing was every too much for them and any request always responded to positively and with wonderful efficiency. Breakfast and all catering was superb!
Review 15:Super comfy bed and cute decor. The place had a lovely atmosphere and kind staff. My tricky dietary requirements were fulfilled beyond my expectations.
Review 16:The breakfast didn't have beans and the you had to ask for the hairdryer as it wasn't in the room already.
Review 17:How friendly the staff were and it was comfortable and clean .
Review 18:The owners and staff of the hotel were great. Very welcoming and hospitable. The evening meal was superb. An ideal base for exploring the borders if Scotland.

Review 20:This hotel is value for money. The laundlady Antoinette is really helpful and cheerful person. Full Scottish breakfast is very very good. I enjoyed staying this hotel.
Review 21:Booked upgrade room, poor bathroom and small bed. WIFI weak signal.
Review 22:Central Scottish borders situation, good food, friendly and delightful family as staff
Review 23:Only negatives were that the radiator in the bathroom was not working (the owner seemed genuinely surprised at this) and someone had forgotten to put the towels in the room but there were plenty outside the room in a large stack (clean!).
Review 24:Excellent - the room, TV, free (wifi), staff and breakfast were all as one would hope for, and the bed was plenty comfortable enough too. Got the impression that it is a genuine, family run hotel that I would definitely stay at again.

Review 35:Comfortable, clean room. Modern bathroom. Good choice of food at breakfast and evening meals.
Review 36:The only disappointment was having carpet in the bathroom which never works as it is impossible to keep clean so there was a slightly unpleasant smell.

Review 39:Food Beds Bedroom Dining room Welcome from owners
Review 40:We booked this hotel for a group of 3 friends looking for a rather active holiday, with some cycling and a bit of sightseeing. This turned out to be the best choice we could ever have made... To start, the hotel itself was very nice and was beautifully located. The room was very large and comfortable, with lots of storage space. The included breakfast was very good and so was the dinner, at a reasonable price. The bar was an enjoyable place to be in the evening. But most important of all, the owners were the best I can imagine. In addition to offering great service, they were very friendly and showed a lot of interest in what we were doing. We were pleasantly surprised when they found us a enthusiastic local cyclist offering great bikes for touring around Selkirk. Overall, I couldn't have felt more welcome than during our stay in the Glen Hotel!
Review 41:It was our good fortune to have fantastic weather during our stay at 'The Glen'. The views from the bedroom and the pleasant garden, were breath taking. To add to our enjoyable break, the owners were very friendly and the food was excellent: in fact the chef gave me his recipe for his lime and lemon cake: yummy.
Review 42:Was working in the area with early starts. Selkirk isn't far from my home but was handy to stay rather than taking a 1hour 45 mins drive to work each morning. Food was fantastic & the Lady in bar was great! Really made you feel welcome. Breakfast was perfect. Served fresh and hot. Will be back in a few weeks hopefully. Even if it's only for food.
