Reviews for Llwyn Onn Guest House

Review 1:I stayed in a single which had a shower in the bedroom surrounded by carpet - it was clean and I didn't mind it too much, but a shower in an ensuite would have been preferable.

Review 2:Great location, delicious breakfast, friendly staff

Review 3:Room 4 - lovely, clean etc. but I could hear what sounded like a gas combi-boiler in a nearby room, through the night. Maybe other rooms will be quieter (worth asking). Free WiFi was good, albeit a little slow (this may be down to the general broadband speed in the area).

Review 4:Car parking, cleanliness, breakfast, staff: all good. This is a very nice guest house with good facilities. Its location is good for business and holiday travellers. I'd certainly stay there again.

Review 5:Nothing bad.

Review 6:Very comfortable room, good shower, very nice breakfast. Moira is a lovely host, and the ladies who do breakfast are very pleasant and friendly. Also - very tasteful Christmas decorations!!

Review 7:limited buffet items for breakfast for those not wishing a full cooked breakfast. A small refrigerator in the room would have been helpful as there was no bar.

Review 8:nice sized room, decent facilities,

Review 9:Could not get shower over bath to work properly but bath ok. Used all the tea bags.

Review 10:Very homely and clean. Room well provided. Lots of towels Fridge. Staff very friendly. Excellent cooked breakfast. Lots of hot water. Very quiet.

Review 11:We liked everything.

Review 12:The B&B was very well appointed. The breakfasts were excellent. The location was spectacular. The innkeepers were friendly, solicitous and well versed in things to do in the region.

Review 13:The weather was absolutely shocking and was not suitable in anyway forsight seeing and we couldn't check until 4pm without priornotification.

Review 14:Out of town and very peaceful.

Review 15:Nobody on site on arrival just a key taped to the door. Non-responsive emergency number, smelly shower curtain, too much artificial air sweetener

Review 16:Location

Review 17:Noise from pipes & a neighbouring room meant little sleep . Fridge in room also made a racket if I put anything in it.

Review 18:Nice location within easy reach of Brecon Beacons

Review 19:Fathoming the shower was a challenge but once done it was hot and powerful.

Review 20:Good breakfast and very friendly staff. Great location for hiking the Brecon Beacons (especially Pen-y-Fan) and the walk around Llwyn-on reservoir and along the Taff Traill was lovely. Wifi in the room worked well and the room was clean and comfortable.

Review 21:Would be great if more items and variety were available at the breakfast table.

Review 22:Very clean and spacious room with lake view and a very clean bathroom with all the essentials.

Review 23:WIFI was nearly useless and had to wait forever for breakfast. The main problem was that they served Breakfast between 7-9.30am on a Sunday. That makes 99% of all guest coming around 9.05am. Spread out the guests to make it better for everyone. We never had time to finish our food because we had to leave for a meeting.

Review 24:Nice rooms and easy check in and out.

Review 25:Nothing bad to report. WiFi a bit hit and miss but I put that down to rural Wales, not the B&B.

Review 26:Friendly staff. Comfortable, clean room and bed. Nice hot shower.

Review 27:The plumbing for the shower was odd, turn to cold you got hot and visa versa, also had to turn the bath on to get water out of the shower The fridge in the room was extremely noisy!

Review 28:close to where we needed to be

Review 29:Could have had a few more teas, coffees and sugar in the room. But that's by no means a complaint.

Review 30:Peace and quite in beautiful surroundings. Bright comfortable room. Good hot powerful shower. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely cooked breakfast. Good central location to explore national parks.

Review 31:No mobile reception. WiFi ok when it worked. You have to drive to go for a drink or meals. We stayed there for a week and during that period linen/sheets weren't changed other than tidying up. No mobile reception

Review 32:Location is quite good for Brecon Beacons. Fair amount of parking. Staff are fairly friendly.

Review 33:The meet and greet lady seems to view you with suspicion upon arrival. Very Abrupt. A bit hard to find due to zero signage on main road and set off the road a little.

Review 34:Room size excellent. Great location for hiking and a general stay away from town. Small fridge in room. Good size bathroom. Plenty of parking. Secure.

Review 35:Owner/manager not friendly. Far out of town. Check in time was very restrictive. Do Not use their location on TOM TOM as you will get lost which the owner/manager is aware of and does not think it is a priority to sort out.

Review 36:Breakfast was good with good service and pleasant staff. Good location for hiking.

Review 37:Bathroom smelled unpleasant even though it appeared clean. The full welsh breakfast included canned tomatoes and cold toast. Coffee tasted like it was instant. Worst breakfast of our two week trip in Wales and Cornwall.

Review 38:Location was good for hiking in the mountains. Staff were friendly.

Review 39:We missed the turning a couple of times as it's right off a dual carriageway

Review 40:The staff were very friendly and the room was very clean, wish I got a room with a better view though

Review 41:We liked the B &B very much,so we hope to use it again and stay a bit longer.Friendly staff and excellent breakfast also the B & B was easy to locate.

Review 42:While linen, bathroom etc obviously thoroughly cleaned, the property is in need of modernisation. Our bathroom had a very bad smell.

Review 43:Friendly staff, freshly cooked breakfast.

Review 44:Thought the breakfast coffee wasn't up to standard. A bit weak - and at a place like that we would have expected individual cafetieres. Car parking a bit tight and awkward if all rooms occupied.

Review 45:Good location, very comfortable, made to feel welcome.

Review 46:Breakfast not available before 8am at weekends. At this price level, breakfast should be available when the guest wants it, especially when plenty of notice is given. The shower cubicle being in the room next to the bed is not what I expect at this price level.

Review 47:Quiet room above the dining room

Review 48:Wi-fi did not work for the 3 days we were there.

Review 49:Room was very neat, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent. Close to good hiking routes in Brecon Beacons.

Review 50:the feeling that the B&B was run a cheaply as possible, for example only 2 sachets of coffee given in the room, little things really that add up

Review 51:breakfasts were good due to he friendly serving staff

Review 52:We loved the location and the comfortable bedroom. The garden was stunning and very well-maintained. Breakfast was sumptuous with a good choice and the ladies were very attentive. The bed was super- we slept like a baby! Conveniently located too and very good value for money.

Review 53:Only distraction was the very squeaky bed in room 5, it was hard to move even slightly without it squeaking! Hopefully, it can be easily fixed?

Review 54:Nice size room that was very clean & comfortable. Nice location. Lovely garden. Good breakfast

Review 55:Room with brick wall view above the wall is a cut down forest in progress Also thought the lake was next to b&b in photo ... not over the roads as it is and behind the big trees

Review 56:Breakfast and peace and quiet

Review 57:Overall it's very clean but needs to have a spring clean in some areas, like back of tv / dvd player etc. Didn't like to see an electronic cigarette being carried round in one hand of lady doing breakfast! Some of the 'discussion' by breakfast ladies in adjoining kitchen very disruptive

Review 58:Quiet picturesque location. Comfy bed and pillows. Ample parking.

Review 59:Very busy road was extremely noisy. I hadnt realised when i booked this would be the case. Relaxing in my room at 9am on a Sunday morning to hear somebody starting to hoover outside my door! !

Review 60:Breakfast was lovely. Had a room lake view.

Review 61:Place deserted on arrival 4.50 pm.mno answer to foo, had to telephone. Allocated single beds when booked double 'executive' . Not made welcome. No glass or water. Purry uncomfortable bed, mould the sleep. Heavy duvet with cheapmbrown cover, more suited to -970's than 2015! Shabby carpet & curtains.nbathroom shabbyn- mould on dated tiles that had been painted over instead of cleaned/replaced. Smell of mould/damp, no ventilation. I would definitely not stay here again. Also tried to charge £10 more than the price quoted by Booking.com. Miles from anywhere, only fast food places 3 miles away. Terrible

Review 62:Nothing

Review 63:The fact that my stay was so short!

Review 64:Staff were friendly and great! Breakfast was really good, room was comfy, tidy, and better than most 5 star hotels I've stayed in.

Review 65:We travelled up from north London, but the check in time of 5pm was a little frustrating. The quality of the breakfast was not what I expected for a 4 star bnb. The sausage, egg, beans were of a very low quality, and there was hardly any continental options to choose from. The large sign in the bedroom in a photoframe of "no Indian or Chinese takeaways to be consumed in the bedroom" was rather unnecessary and would be quite insulting to an Indian or Chinese person I would have thought. The bed was very creaky and could probably do with an upgrade. I am not usually a picky person but was disappointed with this bnb. I would have expected more based on the reviews.

Review 66:The location was good.

Review 67:I could not get the wifi to connect at all on the first evening, and could not find any staff either to help. It did connect the next morning and I had no further trouble with it. At about 9pm thee first night there was a dreadful noise that went for about 5minutes and sounded like a water hammer. I suspect the person in the next room was having a shower. It was very disruptive to our sleep. There was no-one to help get the suitcases up the steep stairs, so I actually left one in the car overnight.

Review 68:The room was sparklingly clean and had everything we needed including hot chocolate! The location was close to those things we were doing and the breakfast was delicious. The staff offered to carry the suitcase down the staircase for me when we left.

Review 69:The only complaint we had was some of the cooked breakfast was cold but we did not feel the need to complain as everything else was lovely.

Review 70:The staff were lovely and the guest house was lovely and we were made to feel very welcome.

Review 71:Clean,comfortable B&B with friendly staff, plenty of space in the room which also had a fridge in (handy for keeping snacks and drinks chilled),perfect location for visiting waterfalls and Pen y fan, would go back.

Review 72:There was nothing not to like.

Review 73:Very friendly guest house, good breakfast, our two border terriers made very welcome and there was a very good walk around the reservoir a 2-minute drive away. Location was ideal for our visit to aunt in Trefechain, Merthyr Tydfil - would definitely stay again.

Review 74:only one towel in the double bedroom. black mold on the bathroom tiles steep stairs no lift with heavy suitcase. No telephone in the bedroom

Review 75:breakfast

Review 76:The house is lovely, set back from the road, extremely peaceful and comfortable. The bed was so nice I begrudged getting up in the morning..! The breakfast was also one of the best I've had in Wales. Overall extremely good value for money, very warm and welcoming, will stay again!

Review 77:Was not so impressed with the Welsh breakfast, nor the time (>30 minutes) I had to wait for it. Also for a B&B it struck us a tad pricy.

Review 78:Perfect location for trekking in the Beacons; friendly, hospitable personnel; cute setting, cosy room, comfy bed. Recommendable.

Review 79:Not enough tea and coffee in the room. A couple of cobwebs around on the 1st night but cleaned up on our 2nd night. We didn't complain about these so just needs better vigilance by staff.

Review 80:Great location. Quiet rooms. Good lounge area with sky tv and a few games. Great Welsh Breakfast.

Review 81:There was no O2 or Vodafone mobile signal inside and no phone in the room. The wifi was unusable. I wouldn't recommend for business travellers needing communication. Reception doesn't open until 4pm and closes at 9pm. This wasn't clear on my booking so I had to wait in my car for an hour upon arriving. I was told not to venture out in Merthyr at night and the guest house only serves breakfast so I brought my own meal for the first night. But I wasn't allowed to use their microwave despite offering to pay for the 2 minutes required. I got called away a day early but was still charged for the last night even though I was the only one staying there.

Review 82:The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice.

Review 83:TV reception was unacceptable and when I reported this next morning, the lady seemed dismissive of my comments. Reception in the lounge area was fine so problem was internal to the guest room.

Review 84:Modern room and facilities, comfortable bed, lovely dining and breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 85:there is nothing I did not like

Review 86:room was clean and spacious, staff were very friendly and approachable, breakfast was really good, parking good 10/10

Review 87:Mobile phone out of range Wi-fi very weak Television was even breaking up! This made the evening/overnight very remote for a business traveller as nearest town some miles away. Probably ideal for walkers/bikers but definitely not for workers!

Review 88:Clean room and good breakfast

Review 89:traffic was very fast on the road but only an inconvenience when we walked to and from the lake.

Review 90:Ensuite facilities, great location overlooking the lake and only two miles from pub offering good food, large bedroom, great Welsh Breakfast. Location also good for visit to Castle at Merthyr

Review 91:Not really enamored with the electric perfumers - found them a bit overpowering

Review 92:Lovely breakfast - friendly cheerful staff. Lovely location with garden overlooking the lake.

Review 93:Would definitely stay here again. Clean and spacious rooms, amazing location. Quality of breakfast and service was outstanding with friendly polite staff.

Review 94:Lovely 2 day break at a family run guest house in pleasant surroundings. Spacious comfortable room with welcoming and accommadating staff. Well located close to both countryside and local amenities.

Review 95:We didn't have a lake view even though the description says the hotel is next to the lake. A bar in the hotel would have been nice.

Review 96:The bedroom was large and nicely decorated. Having a fridge and bath in the room was a bonus The breakfast was delicious!

Review 97:Location just off A road for easy access. Surrounded by beautiful scenery in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast menu with generous helpings. Off road parking.

Review 98:long way from nearest restaurant, no sign on road mentioning name of guest house, there was a total blackout at about 10pm due to a fuse blowing, apparently not the first time

Review 99:room, bathroom, breakfast, wifi, nice smell

Review 100:Paid top price for a lake view however beware you only get a glimpse of water if you look to the right, the view is now obscured by trees and there is some road noise at the front. Also tin tomatoes in the English breakfast!! I would rate this 3*

Review 101:I didn't like that fact that the price quoted by Booking.com was not what I was charged. It was £80 per room and not the £70 quoted.

Review 102:It was friendly and quiet and just what we wanted after a day in the car

Review 103:We received a very poor welcome - we were early but even so guests should be warmly welcomed especially when they've travelled a long distance. Comments from some of the staff about other guests were disgraceful.

Review 104:The breakfast was excellent.

Review 105:There was quite a bit of noise during the night from adjacent rooms' shower and water tank filling.

Review 106:The staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was very good. The rooms were very good, more like hotel rooms rather than a B&B.

Review 107:Very clean,comfortable,peaceful,would certainly stop there again.Central heating very efficient,good wi-fi reception.

Review 108:Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very good. Very comfy bed

Review 109:Excellent location. Friendly staff.

Review 110:Great little guest house. Lovely staff, good breakfast and a really nice room.

Review 111:Friendliness of the staff

Review 112:The bed was too small for a four star quality stay. Needs a queen size or a king-size bed for that size of room. View looked onto a high wall.

Review 113:No water in the shower in the morning, then only cold after half an hour.

Review 114:Excellent breakfast, good choice. Fridge in room

Review 115:Situated in the Brecon National Park with many beautiful walks, and only a 30 minutes drive from the centre of Cardiff.

Review 116:nothing. all good

Review 117:friendly old fashioned B&B. very nice

Review 118:Beautiful surrounding scenery. Clean, modern rooms.

Review 119:Very clean, lovely breakfast and friendly staff.Good location for walking in the Brecon Beacons.

Review 120:little notes everywhere like a boarding school

Review 121:peaceful

Review 122:cooked breakfast - tin tomato cheap sausage

Review 123:friendly staff

Review 124:useless wi fi

Review 125:Room with desk

Review 126:bit out of way for food our a pint

Review 127:location good for walking great nights sleep thanks

Review 128:excellent breaksfast, friendly staff

Review 129:The view from the breakfast room is very pleasant. The location is really quiet and peaceful.

Review 130:Poor wifi speed

Review 131:Clean, friendly quiet
