Reviews for Heatherlie House Hotel

Review 1:Sharon, the owner, was incredibly helpful. We were travelling further north for Christmas so I had quite a lot of frozen ready prepared food with me, which went in the hotel freezer. We had a lovely big room and breakfast was whatever we wanted. The atmosphere is very 'home from home' which is so welcoming.

Review 2:I felt that the customer service was not what one might expect. The customer didn't seem to come first.

Review 3:Good Location, comfortable room with good facilities.

Review 4:Very overpriced dinner. Vegetables very poor quality. Venison tough but tasty. WiFi, terrible reception and intermittent. Single beds were poor quality.

Review 5:Quiet and fairly comfortable. Staff pleasant but seemed rushed.

Review 6:Due to circumstances we were late in booking in. We phoned and the hotel were very helpful. We were welcomed when we did arrive pleasantly and efficiently.

Review 7:As I find stairs stairs difficult we were put into the annex where facilities were quite basic. Our friends who are not disabled were also put out there. I think the price paid was too much for these rooms as it seems that rooms within the hotel is the same price. Very disappointed for my friends as they were denied a comfortable stay because of my disability.

Review 8:Staff and food very good

Review 9:The proprietor, Sharon Logan, who was extremely welcoming. My wife and I had had a long and arduous trip and we were hungry and tired on arrival at the hotel. Sharon cooked us an excellent meal,we had a couple of drinks and then spent a very comfortable night. We also found her children delightful.

Review 10:The room was a good size with lovely view of the garden, very comfortable and warm. Had a really good breakfast which kept us full all day. Enjoyed the real fire in the bar where we had a very good evening meal. All the staff were very friendly.Everything you could want from a hotel.

Review 11:Despite having my booking confirmed, when we arrived at the hotel they had NO rooms available and we had to travel several miles before we eventually found accommodation which was much more expensive.

Review 12:Staff really helpful as we were up for a family wedding. They helped with taxis and other family members accomodation, especially when a hire car broke down!!

Review 13:Lack of free Wii Fii signal in our room as have to use in plubic area. Lack of signal using TV in our room as well. Very small bathroom

Review 14:Cooked Breakfast , ample parking

Review 15:Service was a little slow, especially at breakfast on our last morning. The room was sparsely furnished without any pictures and the furniture could have been more elegant. The curtains were thin and unlined so the light from the window woke us up early. The ensuite was very small but adequate. It was impossible to get enough of a wifi signal to view my emails on my iPad.

Review 16:Good location, lovely property, friendly staff, well stocked bar, reasonable evening meals. Good breakfasts. The breakfast room was beautifully decorated. Our evening meal was well presented and nicely cooked with a good choice on the menu.

Review 17:Sometimes WiFi is not available in the room (but it's mentioned in the keynotes of the hotel).

Review 18:Location, room, breakfast, dinner are great and owners are very kind.

Review 19:Flair of Victorian house spoiled by blinking light beats and juke box . En suit bathroom literary in a closet. Lots of body lotion and conditioner but no soap or shower gel. Restaurant for evening dinner and breakfast next morning slightly below average. May have valued higher but experience from previous night - an excellent facility for exactly the same price was too fresh.

Review 20:Charming Victorian house. Friendly staff.

Review 21:There was nothing we didn't like

Review 22:We had a lovely stay at the Heatherlie House hotel (Selkirk). Simon / Sharon went out of their way to look after us - & were extremely attentive to us. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day break in this charming little hotel. We ate in the hotel both evenings, and thought that food was very nice. When next in the border area we would definitely like to stay at the Heatherlie again.

Review 23:All good

Review 24:Hospitality excellent. Food fab. Special mention for Sharon what a lovely warm genuine person and host. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Review 25:there was no bath in ensuite, just shower, reception on TV poor because of stormy weather, kept cracking up,not a major problem,we had books to read coffee poor taste but breakfast fine

Review 26:spacious and quiet comfortable room, firm matrass , interesting quirky decor,laid-back and homely, elevated location amongst trees yet near road and walking distance to towncentre

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:You cannit fault the couple that run this hotel. They are so lovely and make you feel welcome instantly. The lady even offered to collect us from our wedding venue if there was no taxis availible. Fantasic. We stayed in the wee lodge and everything was just great, sleep, showers, comfort and breafast. Great wee place :)

Review 29:We were well satisfied with our overnight stay and have no adverse comments to make.

Review 30:The welcome we received. All very relaxed and we felt at home. Good, wholesome food went down well and we had a good night's sleep. Our 9 year old Irish collie fell in love with the owners children and they with her. We would not hesitate to stay again! Home from home.

Review 31:improvements in front of house skills needed. outside area needs improvement. food quality on first morning very poor, burnt toast etc. rest of time fine. no hotel information in room. TV was changed with no explanation.

Review 32:comfortable bed, décor and what they had done to the place since taking it over. cosy bar area. lovely old building.

Review 33:Not a lot to see or do in the town itself, although not the fault of the hotel owners,

Review 34:Lovely scenic location, in amongst the trees. Made it feel like the hotel was out in the countryside rather than being very close to the town centre.

Review 35:We stayed in the annexe which unfortunately had an unpleasant smell which impregnated all our clothes.

Review 36:The food was excellent as was the service and friendliness of the staff,

Review 37:The approach and garden was a mess with an abandoned caravan (covered in mould) and littered with childrens toys - the whole area was scruffy in the extreme. The room was large and very tired victorian, with a very small 'ensuite' built into little more than a cupboard in the room; the extractor fan didn't work. The kettle had a loose connection that worked once in about 5 attempts. Another couple who arrived at the same time left.

Review 38:The Owner's wife tried really hard to please but at best their efforts could best be described a 'well intentioned amatures'

Review 39:the untidiness maybe but I'm a neat freak, haggis - are they the round black discs called pudding? - they are strange to me, the artificial flowers are never a go

Review 40:the people who owned and operated the facility, the house atmosphere as a lived-in place, the sense of attentiveness by Sharon and Simon, the fireplace in the bar/dining room, the quiet at night that made sleeping wonderful, the heat when it was chilly, the open windows for the fresh air, the helpfulness of the staff and owners, the location was outstanding for my purposes, availability of info regarding things to see and do and historical outlets, the attitude of staff and owners was excellent, the bathtub for endless baths, always hot water, the historical aspect of the house and belonging in the environment, the openness of the owner's children, the other guests were marvelous

Review 107:Nothing to dislike.

Review 108:Excellent location close to town centre, friendly staff. Very good fresh food which was well presented. Very comfortable room with lovely furnishings.

Review 109:It was so quiet at breakfast, we weren't sure if we'd get any despite the note saying we would! Also felt a wee bit formal…maybe a radio playing or something would help make it more relaxing!!

Review 110:It was relaxed, not OTT with the service and just allowed us to do our own thing. It was also nice and quiet. Breakfast was fab.

Review 111:There is nothing that I would care to put in this section.

Review 112:I liked the warmth of the welcome and the warmth of the room! The only meal I had was breakfast and it was very good.

Review 113:Requested a room with a bath but was told no rooms have baths just showers. Need web site updating if this is the case as it stated there were baths in some of the rooms. Hotel was closed when arrived, there was a printed notice on the door stating that it would be open in an hour. A quick telephone call would have been more polite and professional.

Review 114:Breakfast - very filling and plentiful. Need a bit of practice at making coffee. Room cold as window was left open, but only took a little while to heat up after the window was closed. The room was clean and tidy just a bit dated and unkempt.
