Reviews for The Bishops Table Hotel

Review 1:Nowhere to park, carpet was very grubby, wallpaper had seen better days, building site outside our window.

Review 2:Location was where we wanted, bed was clean and comfortable, good sized room.

Review 3:A tired hotel in need of makeover in room - bathroom window a disgrace in terms of cleanliness ! Internet connection poor info and not able to connect in room

Review 4:Reception and bar area seemed nice

Review 5:Bathroom needed a little updating but thus is going on anyway at the moment i believe

Review 6:The guy who checked us in was the same as when we had stayed previously. Very friendly and helpful.

Review 7:The room was very dated dirty carpet, wallpaper hanging off, paintwork on woodwork filthy, needs total refurb. Bad value for £90 per night

Review 8:The hotel was very nice from the outside and the restaurant and bar area was pleasant.

Review 9:The room we stayed in needs renovating and not practical for someone over 5 foot tall. The bath and bathroom were not practical. No free wifi in room was inconvenient The breakfast was overpriced

Review 10:The location and staff were good

Review 11:I stayed in room number 8 on the top floor. There was no WIFI up there. The shower head was at about 5 feet high. So I had to bend down to have a shower.

Review 12:The receptionist(I think it was Hannah) was great. Very helpful and the best thing about The Bishops Table Hotel.

Review 13:Stains all over bedroom carpet, broken tiles and dirty grouting in bathroom. The hotel was generally very dated and shabby. Breakfast was "ok" but certainly not worth the extra £13.50 per night!

Review 14:Comfortable bed, large room (Room 1), friendly staff.

Review 15:We were met with a cheery hello and very welcome help with our bags. We were advised very clearly where we could park, and helped with finding somewhere to eat. The bed was really comfortable, and the breakfast was superb. Would definitely stay again.

Review 16:Bed was awful so not good night sleep - décor very dated.

Review 17:building is lovely and its a shame the interior is so dated and old - would be great as a boutique hotel with some TLC

Review 18:You are paying for the location, £90 a night, room was big but basic, no WIFI and breakfast was an extra £14.00

Review 19:The location of the hotel was good and room size was big, as l was a lone traveller l was expecting to be put in a small/smallest room

Review 20:Very hot room and not able to open the window, wall paper hanging off, painting flaking, light fittings hanging off the wall, bath was old and tatty with a scruffy shower screen and rubbish shower.

Review 21:Central to Farnham

Review 22:The room is in need of renovation but this was a minor point -it was spotlessly clean. The single bed was a bit unsteady.

Review 23:The manager was very professional and obviously was proud of his hotel. The downstairs décor was excellent in taste and quality. Breakfast hand-cooked by the manager. Car parking on street opposite or along the road (weekends and evenings) but they have an arrangement with the next door library for free parking. Free WiFi and ok for speed too.

Review 24:The staff were friendly and helpful, informed us that they were going to be improving all the rooms this year, the room we had was huge and the lady on reception booked the Farnham tandoori down the road for us at short notice. Excellent choice.

Review 25:An excellent location for central Farnham, but the hotel feels a little tired and in need of some TLC. The friendly staff and excellent breakfast override this though.

Review 26:A hotel with very welcoming and helpful staff and an excellent breakfast.

Review 27:Most uncomfortable bed in years and a bad nights sleep. I've stayed at far better for half the price. There's a reason why they don't show you photos of the rooms in the ad.

Review 28:Good service and initialy a beautiful looking hotel but then they send you out back to the very dated bedrooms.

Review 29:Let down by poor repair of room, floors and staircase and quite dated decor. Also on a busy road that you could hear through night so a garden facing room recommended.

Review 30:Great position, quality well furnished public areas, good breakfast, clean bathroom, very comfortable bed and bedding and great customer service.

Review 31:decor,ceiling looked like it would fall down, black ceilings, paint work appalling carpet appalling, bathroom disgusting, reception and bar area gave a false impression of hotel

Review 32:The man at reception, always greeted us when going in or out

Review 33:It was in need of some renovation in the room as it was quite dilapidated in places such as cracked ceilings and sealant coming off the bath

Review 34:Reception area was good and the room was huge. The power shower was the most powerful one I've ever been in!

Review 35:Facilities were outdated, and there was a certain smell dampness and few stains of black fungi in the corner of the shower.

Review 36:The service was excellent, the staff was very obliging and the frshly on demand cooked breakfast was celebration of quality.

Review 37:The room was like a sauna overnight. We couldn't change tge temp. It was so hot we actually couldn't sleep. If it's not possible to sleep then it's just not worth it.

Review 38:Nice location and good sized room.

Review 39:My bedroom was in an annex at the rear. The bed felt like concrete and clearly had a plastic sheet over the mattress. The window latches were missing and the room was very tired and not particularly clean whilst the en suite was well past its sell by date - bulbs were missing from the mirror lights, the grouting around the bath was mouldy or missing, the basin pedestal was no longer on its original footing etc etc. In their defence, the owner did say that the (B&B) hotel was about to have a complete overhaul.

Review 40:The location is good. They also served a good breakfast.

Review 41:No negative aspects of stay.

Review 42:Welcoming reception with good tips about parking and locality. Comfortable spacious room and en suite. Well sound proofed from main road. Generally good decor. Excellent breakfast.

Review 43:Is about time they should upgrade the bathroom!! been there many times, I remain staying there is due to location. consider pricey.

Review 44:location is good. nice little garden backyard.

Review 45:Far too many things. If I had booked a cheap roadside motel I would have been disappointed. At £70 a night, bed only, it was quite frankly shocking. I could have had cheaper accommodation just as close to my appointment, the Bishop's Table had been recommended to me as good. I booked a room with a bath, my first room only had a shower. I was offered an alternative room with a bath, same price. The room was ridiculously hot and though the windows did open the glass nearly fell out of their rotten frames. There was underfloor heating in the bathroom which couldn't be turned off. I stayed in June - why was there heating on at all? No bathroom window meant I could only vent heat into the already unbearably hot bedroom. The bathroom lights were faulty, either not working or the fluorescent light failing to start and just clicking and flickering. I was faced with a choice of using the bathroom with the door open to try and cool it down and get passive light from the bedroom, or cook in the light show. The plug connection in the bath fell into the bath and there was black mould all round the shower enclosure and ceiling. Bits of plywood missing off the door, curtains hanging off the rails and shabby, ill finished renovations such as exposed rawlplugs in the wall where things had been moved. The kettle lid fell off when I poured it, every time. Luckily I did not burn myself. The drawer handles fell off when I tried to open the drawers. Inconsistent advice about WiFi charges. I wrote to the hotel with my comments and their reply advised me that they they were going to knock the wing down in August as it is below standard and hoped I would find the new extension satisfactory. No mention of a refund or even a complimentary stay in the new wing!! How can I be charged the same rate as other rooms for accommodation acknowledged by them as substandard? Shocking. Truly awful.

Review 46:Location was good for me, just a few minutes walk from my appointment. The member if staff I dealt with while I was at the hotel was efficient, courteous and helpful.

Review 47:Helpful friendly staff and good facilities.

Review 48:Room 8 in loft in dire need of decorating shoddy electrics shower head came to my chest breakfast over priced

Review 49:Everything

Review 50:Nothing

Review 51:This is a great hotel perfect location and excellent staff

Review 52:Very tired decor, particularly in bathroom, which needs a major update

Review 53:Comfortable bed, warm welcome

Review 54:Needs a refurbish. Not a great value

Review 55:Staff helpful. Bed comfortable.

Review 56:Location Great staff

Review 57:no parking

Review 58:staff were very friendly and attentive to all our needs.

Review 59:I couldn't open any window to get some fresh air.

Review 60:Very nice and friendly staff. Very good location.

Review 61:A little pricey but I assume reflects other prices locally.

Review 62:Very friendly and helpful reception member of staff. Large bedroom and bathroom.

Review 63:reception staff were very helpful. central location good

Review 64:Bed wasn't great

Review 65:Staff were fantastic, extremely attentive

Review 66:great central location, warm welcome

Review 67:Run down, mouldy bathroom, dirty carpet, small double bed, rotten windows room 4. Do not know how anyone can charge £90 for this!!!

Review 68:Location

Review 69:Door didn't lock, carpet was dirty

Review 70:Bedding and towels were clean

Review 71:convenient location

Review 72:Bed was a bit small

Review 73:Staff lovely and friendly very quaint hotel

Review 74:The room was hot with no control over the radiator or heating

Review 75:The staff and location

Review 76:Central town location, lovely staff, very clean, comfortable room.

Review 77:Rooms in the back of the hotel are verry quiet. Staff are pleasent, location is good, and the price is great.

Review 78:Very old dated and cold room. Staff were excellent

Review 79:Pricing

Review 80:It's a comfortable place! Becomes your home very soon if you are staying for long)

Review 81:All was good

Review 82:Great location, very cosy room

Review 83:Carpet in the rooms , washroom is outdated (curtain in the shower / not really fresh), wifi in rooms (payment), breakfast

Review 84:She was hot

Review 85:Clean room. Comfortable bed. Large room for this stay. Always try this hotel first when I want to stay in Farnham.

Review 86:Central location

Review 87:My room was in the annexe. It was tired and dated. Don't know what rooms are like in the main building but this was not worth the £70. Needs a bit of a makeover.

Review 88:Good welcome at reception. Good first impression of the building

Review 89:my room was very hot .I tried to open a window only to find i needed to be hurcules to lift the large cumbersom frame.the toilet seat and cover were loose, couldnt sit on it in any comfort.shower was good but as my room over looked the main road and therewere no curtains in the room ,I felt rather exposed.

Review 90:staff were very friendly and civil.nothing was too much trouble.

Review 91:The room was very hot and the windows could not be opened as there was triple glazing to keep out the street noise. The room was clean and comfortable but needed a fresh coat of paint as the skirting boards were chipped and worn.

Review 92:Good staff and location.

Review 93:Room was very tired and and scruffy wash basin was tiny and virtualy unusable ! Black mould around the shower I would not stay at this hotel again as it was poor value overall !

Review 94:Receptionist was excellent and full english breakfast was great

Review 95:Nothing.

Review 96:Quiet, clean room. I was only there for the overnight stay and was out very early so can't comment on the other facilities. But I always book here when I need to stay at Farnham (twice a year).

Review 97:Our room was on the main thoroughfare in Farnham (or one of) and so traffic noise early morning is a disturbance if one is a light sleeper. Not sure if one could request a room off the back of the hotel.

Review 98:We stayed here for only one night, on our visit to UCA, not even a 5 min walk away. A lovely big double room with very comfortable beds and tea-making facility. A huge bathroom, but as so often happens when a bath doubles up as a shower, we had water on the floor after showering. A very pleasant array of soap, shampoo etc. The staff were very welcoming and kind.

Review 99:I had a small problem with the creaky floor boards but in a building that old - everything is going to creak. My only other issue was the lack of car park, but that is going to be sorted out during the upcoming expansion!

Review 100:I absolutely love this hotel. It is a fairly short walk from the train station, and is situated smack bang in the middle of the town on the high street. The place was spotless and the service faultless. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows (one very soft, one harder) were great. The room (I had a double) was a lot bigger than I expected and the same goes for the bathroom. The décor was lovely and warm. All in all, I will definitely be going back.

Review 101:Mould in the bathroom, general shabbiness once you get past the public rooms, threadbare carpets, dirty, scuffed skirtings, peeling wallpaper, chipped furniture. The breakfast buffet was poor, three sad, pallid pastries on a plate plus cereals and juice. The toast was burnt and although tasty, the cooked breakfast was poor value. A lot of money needs to be spent here to justify the prices charged.

Review 102:The location is excellent, the bed was comfy, the room was spacious, tea, coffee and delicious biscuits were plentiful, toiletries plentiful, cooked breakfast was tasty.

Review 103:I turned off the shower while washing my hair, and when I tried to turn it on again, no water came out. I had to use the bath tap to rinse off shampoo!

Review 104:Very close to where I was visiting - the University of Creative Arts, as well as a great supermarket Waitrose and restaurants. It was also from a short and pleasant walk from the station.

Review 105:It was just perfect for the price. Excellent. Room cleaned every day with fresh bedding, toiletries & towels. Large bright spacious room. Fantastic coffee latee available whenever desired.Location perfect for all facilities. I stayed during the servers storms & very cold weather & the room was lovely and warm and cosy. Its a pity I had to leave!!!!!

Review 106:Nothing!

Review 107:Every thing was perfect. The room was large bright spotlessly clean. Cleaned every day with fresh supply of toiltries. & a bath as well as a shower was a real bonus as I was filming mostly nights. The staff were so helpful & kind. Coffee latee was always available. Beautiful lounge with large sofas or an area with table and chairs to sit. The position is fantastic but quite. There are many great place to eat where you can walk in minutes, The Castle and grounds are 10mins walk even if elderly!!! I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough. Probably the staffs consideration, they were there to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible and they did!!!

Review 108:On the first weekend of the year, we were the only visitors - breakfast the first morning was minimal. On the Sunday night, noise from both street and hotel work was considerable

Review 109:Comfort and size of room

Review 110:No parking at the hotel

Review 111:Friendliness of staff My shower was not working properly so the following day I was upgraded at no extra cost. Very central within walking distance of the shops and restaurants.

Review 112:The staff were very polite and helpful. The room was very clean and had all the vacillates that i needed. If I am ever in the area again i will stay here. Excellent Hotel!!!!

Review 113:Although the bathroom could do with a little face-lift, the cleaning staff kept it spotless the whole week I was there.

Review 114:The Bishop's Table was clean; accommodating and friendly. The staff was helpful and the room was light and airy. I also really liked the proximity to shops and the train station.

Review 115:The decor in the room. It was very tired and dated and the tiles around the bath were grimy. The carpet was disgusting. Lack of car parking meant having to park in a pay and display nearby.

Review 116:The location and the size of the room.

Review 117:-Wifi is very weak in the room limiting international communication. -Although plenty of room tea or coffee there is no restaurant service (also not truly necessary as hotel is directly in town) -Amazingly close to university if you need to be there

Review 118:Staff made the stay very comfortable and I could ask anything about transportation, location, city history with a detailed response from staff always (inclusive staff printing out maps) Coffee was always available while using lounge area. It was a pleasant, English experience.

Review 119:In need of TLC Curtains hanging off Ceiling dropped in corner Bathroom door sticks Carpet stained Noisy room ,street traffic from early am

Review 120:Comfortable spacious room Clean comfortable bed

Review 121:Room was very tired looking and decor very dated, 4 poster bed was proped up to take out the slope of the floor. TV was attached to a corner of a wall that hung out into the room, behind was the Kettle that did not have a working light so unfortunately unless you ducked down!!! head connected with TV. Bathroom needed a good lick of paint. The hotel was not our favourite place to spend the night. Wish we had not booked

Review 122:Hotel Receptionists on Saturday when we checked and Sunday when we checked out very helpfull

Review 123:Toilet not flushing on one pull, awaiting hot water to flow from tap in basin. Shower is not a proper shower but a poor bath mixer tap with shower part that doesn't very well. All in all very overpriced worth half of the rate paid .

Review 124:Location just at the end of town , generally neutral place

Review 125:Having a continental style breakfast as an extra; butter in "portion control" paper! could do with a little 'touch up' licks of paint etc by way of "detail" noticing.

Review 126:friendly, efficient and helpful. Quiet. Very well located for what one might want in Farnham, and a pleasant introduction to the town which I would be happy to revisit, and stay in the same place.

Review 127:The room furnishings were comfortable, but would do well with a little modernazation to go with the updated lobby, dining rooms and bar. Free access to the internet in the rooms would be excellent for the business travellers.

Review 128:The service was personal, friendly, professional and welcoming. All three of the hosts were outstanding. The room was fresh, clean and tidy everyday when I returned from work. I warm and cozy nestled into the third floor room. I will definitely return.

Review 129:Noise from the road, bin lorries at 5am then music from the bar/public areas at 7am so not restful. Curtains in room missing hooks tohang them up properly. No residents parking so had to move car off roadat 8am or 8.30 if in library carpark

Review 130:Good welcome, choice of different size breakfasts.

Review 131:No Car Park Poor heating in room - temporary heater used. My colleague had just a luke warm radiator when freezing temperatures outside. Very expensive breakfast

Review 132:Location - central to Farnham
