Reviews for Nethercliffe Hotel
Review 1:Great central location in Wick. Not far from town centre and aiport. Local attractions within 20 minutes drive i.e. John O'Groats, Castle of Mey, Dunnet Head Lighthouse and Duncansby Stacks
Review 2:Wick is not a great place to visit but didn't realise this until too late. It was just a stop off point on our journey north. Was cold and cloudy which made it look even more bleak.
Review 3:Staff friendly and helpful. Room we had was a bit cramped but clean with a good shower. Had really good dinner in another hotel across the river as didn't fancy pub food. Think it was good value.
Review 4:The rooms were incredibly small & the bed was really hard; we woke up not feeling rested. The lady serving drinks in the bar couldn't crack a smile if she was forced to. We were unable to get wifi to work even with their instructions. There were so many steps to get to the room it felt like we would never get there and we are young and strong. Overall we recognize the significance of its age, but we wouldn't stay there again.
Review 5:The hotel was spotless & 90% of the staff was very nice and courteous.
Review 6:Great breakfast and helpful staff. Great to have a restaurant and bar on site too. Location was great (walking to everything), lots of parking around and wifi was strong all across the hotel.
Review 7:Everything was fine
Review 8:Very friendly and cosy hotel, nice that there is a bar and restaurant also - lovely lounge where we could sit with piano, tv dvd collection and wi games - really nice
Review 9:Nothing at all
Review 10:Everything, the staff were brilliant couldn't do enough for us. Food fabulous out of this world left us totally full up. Room very clean with all facilities required. Will defo recommend
Review 11:It's all about service and value. My expectations were exceeded again and again. A wonderful stay, and in my humble, but highly accurate opinion I woulld do it again and again! :)
Review 12:Very welcoming, pleasant atmosphere and a relaxing place to stay.Very comfortable . overall and good choice on restaurant menu. I was unexpectedly unwell whilst there and had to seek prompt medical advice as I am on chemotherapy treatment. The staff were very kind and helpful which I really appreciated. I would be very happy to stay again if in the area and to recommend this hotel highly.
Review 13:My short stay, was over all too soon.
Review 14:Most friendly staff. Made me; as a sole traveller; feel at home. (Not like some places where a single person can be ignored) Excellent breakfast, delicious kippers on the menu. Will stay here again if in the area as close to town centre and all it's amenities. within walking distance of train station
Review 15:Loved it here, clean fresh bedroom, wonderful staff and fantastic breakfast! Highly recommended. So close to town centre too, but you'd never know it as its so quiet! Jess the dog is just gorgeous too :) thanks!
Review 16:Room 6. Small. Brown bed cover with brown furniture and dark brown carpet made the room very dismal and depressing. Shower fantastic
Review 17:Quality of breakfast very good. The young lady serving- superb, smiley cheerful and a great start to the day.
Review 18:The Staff were very helpful and courteous. The room was of a good size with a modern bathroom with everything you would expect to find in a good hotel. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice
Review 19:Having to leave.
Review 20:NoWe chose to travel to Wick in March expecting bad weather. Weather was great sunny days blue skies. But even if it was bad the Hotel would have compensated. Sincere and Friendly welcome. Warm comfortable lovely room. So clean. The bar and food great ending to long sightseeing walking days. Want to vist area again just to stay at Nethercliffe again.
Review 21:The room was comfortable with good en suite and tea and coffee making facilities. The premises were clean and tidy. There was a choice for breakfast and the food was of very good quality.
Review 22:I have to say my stay at the nether cliff hotel was excellent. Its very central and the staff and people there were all so friendly. I dont think it could be beaten in the whole of Wick.I highly recommend staying here
Review 23:My only criticism of my stay was the neck on the bathroom tap wasn't long enough This made the water come out near the back of the sink instead of in the middle. But this is no reflection on our overall stay & didn't cause any big problems.
Review 24:The room was welcoming & very clean. The bed was really comfortable. (didn't want to get out of it) The bathroom was spotless. The staff were very friendly. The bar wasn't over priced. The breakfast was tasty with a good selection. Ideal location for walking to Wick town centre.
Review 25:Lack of a comfy change in the room
Review 26:Friendly welcome of the staff Pleasant room recently refurbished, bathroom well above a 3 star. Friendly bar with locals and visitors happy to mix Good beer and good but simple food
Review 27:There was nothing that I didn't like.
Review 28:Lovely hotel, friendly staff looked after me & a couple of mates. Modern facilities everything that we as a group where looking for.
Review 29:Love this place, great location just a short stroll from the railway station. Greeted with a warm friendly welcome after a long journey is always nice! Could not fault the recently refurbished bedrooms with fantastic new en-suite bathroom. Set off each morning ready to take on the day with a hearty delicious breakfast! Great hotel will definitely return!
Review 30:no complaints - would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Wick area
Review 31:Everything about this place !! We loved the 'boutique' 'homey' feel and the excellent breakfast. Room and bathroom very clean. The owners/staff were so knowledgeable and helpful about the area.
Review 32:Took me a while to connect to the wifi but once I had it worked well
Review 33:I really liked this hotel. Friendly staff. The room was spacious and comfortable. The best thing about the room was the en suite. It was very modern with a huge shower cubicle. The hotel has a lovely garden at the back as well. There's parking nearby too.
Review 34:I don't have anything negative to say.
Review 35:Couldn't fault a thing during our two night stay. It has a central location, the décor is fresh and the standard of cleanliness is faultless. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The bathroom deserves a special mention - very modern and very well furnished. The breakfast was excellent. We also had dinner one night, and that was exceptional value for money. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Review 36:Customer service could do with improvement. Some rooms are a long way from the entrance and up and down a few flights of stairs so not suitable for people with mobility problems. We were a party of 60-70 year olds but at no point were we offered any help with our luggage. The very young waitress that served our evening meal came and banged the bill down on the table halfway through and got annoyed when we said we hadn't finished. The bar person was diffident and rude, the food very basic. The staff see this as more of a pub than a hotel and give the impression that they find guests a nuisance. However, there was one saving grace, the lady that took our payment the morning that we left, was pleasant, helpful and friendly. What a shame that she wasn't there the night before.
Review 37:Clean comfortable room, good sized bathroom.
Review 38:Nothinh
Review 39:Easy to find, easy parking. Stayed for one night. The room was big enough for two, but the shower was amazing. We ate at the hotel that night, the food was your average pub meal. Breakfast next morning was substantial, lots to choose from. All in all a very pleasant stay. Would definitely recommend.
Review 40:The window didn't open far enough to get some air in at night, a fan would have been nice, although I think we were there during some unusually hot weather for the area.
Review 41:The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room had a beautiful view of the Firth, comfortable beds and nice clean bathroom. The breakfast included with the room was a pleasant surprise. We weren't expecting the full English breakfast buffet at all and the service was excellent. It was nice to have a table waiting for us each morning. The location was excellent for walking the town and we were able to find it without any trouble.
Review 42:External entrance is a bit gloomy and does not reflect the internal quality. I tried the WiFi and it didn't work, but I wasn't bothered - This needs to be something that is just there, like tap water.
Review 43:Garden was great. Good modern bathroom facilities. Friendly staff.
Review 44:Everything was good, especially the friendliness of the maitre d' and the 'breakfast lady'. However the 'waiter' in the restaurant, although efficient seemed harassed and whilst not rude, wasn't very friendly.
Review 45:Friendliness of most of the staff.
Review 46:It is an older facility and so our room was smaller than we would have liked. Bathroom had been nicely redone however
Review 47:Staff friendly and helpful. Meals were good. Bar was friendly .
Review 48:The drunken group in the bar/ outside smoking being rude when I arrived at 6pm ?
