Reviews for Les Gentianettes - SPA Hotels-Chalets de Tradition
Review 1:- La Chapelle d'Abondance is not as modern and developed as Chatel - Transport between villages was crowded - Restaurants on the piste in La Chapelle serve poor quality food.
Review 2:- SPA and swimming pool - Clean and comfortable hotel - Terasse with beautiful view - Ski storage room - Two restaurants and a bar in the hotel
Review 3:everything (except the restaurant) - room too small, my bathroom is bigger, than the standart room for 180 euros, hairdryer broken, hamman didn´t work.
Review 4:Other bookings we made you are able to cancel without penalty 24 hours before. My husbands work required us to move to another ville and it costs us to break the reservation.
Review 5:View, proximity to workplace
Review 6:You need a car or the bus to get to the lifts; no problem for us.
Review 7:Comfortable if compact rooms, good food in attractive surroundings and with a good quality of service. Generous self service breakfast.
Review 8:An attractive hotel with free parking and situated just off the main road, so quiet. The meals are delicious, with a choice of 2 restaurants. After a hard day on the ski slopes, it's a real pleasure to have a swim and relax in the sauna and hammam, at no extra cost and with towels provided.
Review 9:They asked us to check out at 10:30 am - the earliest I have ever seen in a hotel. The sauna and hamam are available for free only for a short time, otherwise you have to pay. The restaurant in the hotel had mini portions, not a good value for the money paid. We had to wait to be served for a very long time.
Review 10:Cute, clean rooms, nice swimming pool, restaurant in the hotel. Very nice breakfast.
Review 11:This is a great place to stay, but if you are French, or you speak French regularly! If you don't speak it correctly, you will understand that you are not welcome. The breakfast service is inexistent and the quantity is poor.
Review 12:The hotel is great, good facilities and location.
Review 13:Having to leave
Review 14:After a 140km ride cycling from Annecy we arrived late in the day without our support vehicle which we had not seen since we left our previous hotel. This was no problem for the helpful staff and several phone calls later were able to ascertain all was ok and they would be turning up shortly. This set the tone for the rest of our two night stay and I can only say all the staff were outstanding. The girls laughed at our poor jokes and made us feel at home at all times, nothing was a problem for them.
Review 15:Very small room and small double bed. Breakfast, a bit expensive.
Review 16:Location
Review 17:Unfortunately no air conditioning in 35' temperatures made the room very hot.
Review 18:Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 19:Childrens menu was limited.
Review 20:Great family run hotel in a very french part of the alps.
Review 21:The hotel was superb, easy access, rooms were good and skiing was great,
Review 22:WiFi doesn't always work. Breakfast should be improved.
Review 23:The decor of the hotel, swimming pool.
Review 24:The spa was too cold to swim
Review 25:The restaurant cusine excelent
Review 26:Nothing.
Review 27:Loved the stay. Lovely friendly staff. Enjoyed the pool and sauna. Excellent food & wine.
Review 28:The family room is quite small in term of the money we paid. There is no mini bar or coffee/tea maker in the room seems a bit behind the 3 stars hotel.
Review 29:The breakfast is 100% self-service but it includes good varieties for every family member. The restaurant in the hotel is great.
Review 30:The food was absolutely delicious. Good choice of 2 restaurants. Outstanding cocktails of the day, wine and beer! The staff (mainly from one family) were welcoming and friendly. Location in the centre of the village near the bus stop.
Review 31:Wifi not great in that it kept dropping in and out, but was free so all good.
Review 32:Lovely little hotel. Family run and very friendly. Breakfast was gorgeous and plentiful (didn't have lunch or dinner there). Lovely quiet room (room 201). Cosy seating areas. Great spa and pool area.
Review 33:Nothing too much- the spa wasn't really hot enough to enjoy which was disappointing but I am told tepid spas are in vogue in France this year.
Review 34:Friendly and helpful service and the food was some of the best I have had in an alpine hotel. All their meals were of a high standard, interesting and very well presented.
Review 35:It's not on the slopes so you need to have a car or take the bus but all the rest compensates for it.
Review 36:Second time I stay here and loved it again. Staff is super friendly and helpful, great food in the Savoyarde restaurant and clean, comfortable rooms, clean pool and sauna facilities.
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:I love the decoration and comfort of the hotel. The staff is also very nice and helpful. This hotel is always clean. Also the food is excellent. We go there twice a year and we never regret it.
Review 39:Booking.com led me to believe that the hotel was 26km from LesDiablerets, Switzerland. In fact we had to travel 64km - over 1.5 hours- to get to our hotel!
Review 40:The rooms are all different and have animal themes - cute!
Review 41:One of the female reception staff was particularly brusque in her manner and quite unhelpful. Very unaccommodating. Attitudes to customers let this hotel down. Everything else was great.
Review 42:Lovely hotel, nice facilities. Fantastic food in the restaurant.
Review 43:Kids food menu was limited.
Review 44:A very French hotel with friendly staff and great food. My daughterloved the whole experience. Ski conditions were great which made thingseven better. The swimming pool was perfect for winding down after a hardday skiing. A+++.
Review 45:The wifi was definitely NOT available all over the hotel as was advertised. It was very intermittent and a weak signal.
Review 46:Friendly welcoming atmosphere. Excellent food. Typical Alpine decor. Well suited to families and skiers. Swimming pool small but ok if used before the skiers come back.
Review 47:The breakfast is expensive... Paris prices. In this area other hotelsoffer better value. Internet access was often difficult
Review 48:High standard spacious rooms clean and really comfortable. Best Pierradewe have had.
Review 49:Accommodation can be convenient only if you have a car. The pool is constantly occupied by hyper active French children, nobody doesn't watch them and doesn't explain the behavior rule in the pool. The restaurant doesn't maintain any criticism: price level is exceeded, food ordinary, the personnel doesn't correspond even to 3 stars, service time at dinner more than 3 hours, some ordered dishes don't bring (after all we refused them in 3,5 hours!!!!) but money for them includes in the account, compensation isn't offered.
Review 50:Decor, purity, sauna and hammam.
Review 51:*Room was tiny for family 4 *Had big tv but no English channels except a world news *food was hugely expensive and 45 min wait for any course
Review 52:Was very clean and immaculate anytime of the day. Staff friendly but basic. Had a homely warm feel to the place
Review 53:Bedrooms were very warm at night, despite putting of all radiators.Housekeeping kept coming in to make up our bed, even though we had thedo not disturb sign up, and woke us up at 8am on new years day!
Review 54:Beautiful hotel with amazing restaurant food and lovely helpful staff, apart from one really grumpy woman! Loved the decor and warm ambiance.
Review 55:The rooms in general are small, but ours was on the corner and wasextremely cramped. This is the reason it was not good value for money,as our rate was room only, and was about 150 euros a night! I wouldrecommend the hotel, but make sure to book early to get a better room. The hotel is very popular and is booked out months in advance! Thewellness area is small which would be fine if children were not allowedin the sauna, steam or jacuzzi - ridiculous!
Review 56:Very nice traditional chalet-style hotel. The food in the mainrestaurant was Masterchef standard! We stayed over New Year and had theSt Sylvestre meal which was quite expensive but included 7 or 8 courseseach with a different wine- the whole meal was outstanding! The wellnessarea is small but it is good to have a sauna and a steam after a dayskiing. The hotel generally has a very comfortable, homely feel.
Review 57:The bedrooms did get hot, there was no air con and no windows, just doors which was a small problem at night.
Review 58:The hotel was perfect for our requirements which were a few days visiting friends locally and gentle walks in the hills. The excellent quality of the restaurant was an added bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful as was the whole atmosphere of the hotel. I would definatly go there again.
Review 59:The breakfast coffee was from a cartridge machine - while the rest of the breakast was excellent. They could do much better with the coffee
Review 60:One of the best hotels I've stayed at - very quiet comfortable and on GR5 walking route. VERY good food.
Review 61:Poor receptionist whose main aim when we arrived was to try to get us tobook dinner in the overpriced restaurant. We found a much better hotelnearby where we enjoyed a fabulous meal.
Review 62:Comfortable and clean room.
Review 63:A very nice hotel! (third stay for me). Friendly staff (but most of them do not speak any English at all). Warm indoor pool, but during our stay the sauna and hammam was closed (due to low season?). The food is excellent! (the hotel has two restaurants: one gourmet French gourmet cuisine and one more "rustic" local Savoyard cuisine). Also terrace adjacent to the restaurant. (Breakfast Euro 14)... A really small, but pretty village (most of the shops is closed durning summer). A good base for hiking. Small (typical French standard), but clean rooms. Lobby (and small bar) is beautifully decorated. Complimentary WiFi.
Review 64:Fantastic views. Warm, comfortable, pine-clad room with balcony.Comfortable bed & good, soft bedding. Ideally situated for mountainwalks & drives, near Swiss border. Warm indoor pool/ Hamman/ Sauna/Jacuzzi. Restaurant food very good- lots of local dishes. Would goback anytime!
Review 65:The receptionist was not very friendly.
Review 66:The location is fantastic, right at the foothills of the mountains. There are hiking paths which start behind the hotel up the mountain. Nice rooms, very cosy.
Review 67:We found the hotel to be charming and comfortable with really good facilities for a 3 star property. The food in the restaurants was excellent and the service was pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. The spa area was clean and well kept and a welcome way to relax at the end of a day's skiing. We all enjoyed our stay and would certainly return to Les Gentianettes.
Review 68:All staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. This is a genuine French hotel and only a small number of the staff spoke English. In our opinion this added to the overall experience. Neither of us are fluent French speakers but we had no problems being understood or ordering drinks etc.The bedrooms were comfortable and warm. The half board option was excellent value - the set menu during our stay showed variation and the food was of a high standard both in terms of quality and presentation. An externsive wine list catered for al budgets. The restaurant was used by locals and other holiday makers as well as residents. Breakfast was served as a buffet and we particularly liked the freshly squeezed orange juice. The location of the hotel is in the village centre but not on the main road so the hotel is quiet at night. By car it is less than two minutes to the nearest ski lifts and it is about 5-10 minutes to the main lift stations in Chatel . This is a family owned hotel and we liked this fact. We would thoroughly recomment this hotel.
Review 69:The hotel was in a great location, close to the centre of town and tothe ski lifts. On arrival we were greeted warmly despite the late hourand offered drinks from the bar. The rooms were clean, comfortable andwarm and the ensuite bathroom had a very good shower which was hot andpowerful. The view was amazing from the bedroom. Breakfast was very goodand included a variety of cereals, pastries, ham, cheeses, juices, coffees etc and you could help yourself as much as you wanted so endedup being good value. Though we didn't eat at the restaurant at night themenu did look good. Again we didn't use the pool facilities but theyalso looked very clean and were used by other guests at the hotel. Goodski/boot room. We had a most enjoyable stay and would totally recommendstaying here.
Review 70:This is an amazing hotel!!! I would highly recommend staying here. The staff was so helpful, the breakfast and dinner was absolutely delicious (large and tasty breakfast buffet), and the hotel room was charming. The location is magical. I cannot wait to come here again.
Review 71:Robes and slippers should be provided for hotel guests to use in the spa instead of having to pay for them. The jacuzzi should be warmer.
Review 72:Beautiful mountain-lodge style hotel, comfy rooms, great breakfast, excellent savoyarde evening meal, cosy bar/seating areas, lovely spa, impeccable staff, great decor!
Review 73:minor remarks no towels provided for the welness and no hangers in the welness area
Review 74:very good food, quiet location, friendly informal personnel, decoration, nice clean rooms, the carnozets, ski room, sauna - hamman, good price/quality
Review 75:Very good traditional restorant , calm and comfortable hotell in a fabulous village.
