Reviews for Passford House Hotel
Review 1:Everything. Friendly staff. Lovely interconnecting family room. Gorgeous setting. Swimming pool and sauna. Lovely food. A real find - a genuine country house hotel which even had a jigsaw on the go
Review 2:Some times hard work talking to staff from other countries of which there were several
Review 3:Loved the location, Loved the food and hospitality. Good value through booking.com
Review 4:We had 4 rooms and 3 were of a much higher standard than the 4th and yet we all paid the same rate.
Review 5:The sitting rooms were excellent for a group of friends.
Review 6:Room might have been bigger.
Review 7:Friendly staff, very dog friendly (treats, towel, mat and bowls) nice grounds. Good breakfast with generous mix of options.
Review 8:Nice secluded location easily found. Comfortable clean bedroom. Friendly helpful staff. Tastefully decorated for the xmas season. Stayed 2 nights. First night 28 December, evening restaurant was very busy so service was a bit slow but as we were not going anywhere it didn't matter. Breakfast the following morning was the same. That evening, was quieter so service was excellent. Good choice of food.
Review 9:Our room was very small and was difficult to feel comfortable in for a 2 night stay, it was a Christmas gift so I had asked for the best room available and was disappointed. That was the only thing though.
Review 10:We loved the hotel, it's in a great location, lots of parking on arrival, very friendly staff, nice communal lounges, most of which dogs are allowed in to. Lots of lovely things to do near the hotel or just a short drive, very nice local pubs close too.
Review 11:No mini fridge in rooms
Review 12:Beautiful surroundings, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable rooms, charming, quaint hotel with loads of character. Excellent breakfasts and guest amenities.
Review 13:Breakfast - why set up tables with guests facing into the room instead of looking at the garden? Be a bit more relaxed about where people sit instead of allocating tables so rigidly
Review 14:Room a little cramped for space and television very small. Breakfast dining room very Spartan and not inviting. Female member of staff tried to get us to sit where we did not want to sit and I had to question this and we sat where we wanted. No reserved signs and we sat at a table for 2 so this was very disconcerting. Breakfast was OK but have had better in bed and breakfast accommodation. Hotel probably in need of a bit of a makeover.
Review 15:Pleasant place to stay for one night. Young woman at reception very helpful and friendly
Review 16:Husband was ill on journey to hotel and got worse so had to cut our stay to one night. Staff were very understanding and helpful. Room was very comfortable, both sad we couldn't stay longer and are planning to return for our next break.
Review 17:Lovely hotel in beautiful location ... rooms good but could do with a little updating but clean and perfectly acceptable. All staff very friendly and helpful and food in restaurant in evening was absolutely excellent.
Review 18:The fact that you are not treated as a responsible adult to enable you to use the swimming pool on your own. Perhaps the insurance should be changed to allow this.
Review 19:Beautiful property, comfortable room and helpful staff.
Review 20:Unfortunately my bed was not comfortable and the toilet arrangement in the ensure for a man of my size was comical.
Review 21:Restful stay with exceptionally helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel welcome
Review 22:The food was expensive and this was not refelected in the quality. My starter, main and side dish all arrived at the same time and the main (fish) was very overcooked. I had two discrepancies on my bill where I was charged in the bar for £7.25 for something I hadn't had and there was no description on the tab plus I was charged for two drinks when I had one. These were cleared up when I checked out.
Review 23:The room was very clean and facilities very good. Nice quiet hotel.
Review 24:We were only there for one night and nothing really went wrong during that time.
Review 25:The friendliness of the staff, the location, the general comfort and the food was particularly nice. Would definitely stay again!
Review 26:The food was terrible and awful value for money. Very disappointed with breakfast and dinner especially considering how much we paid.
Review 27:Staff were great, stunning building, very clean and tidy.
Review 28:I don't like a cooked breakfast and did not know that there was anything else to eat, the waiter did not offer an alternative. So when I saw someone had porridge it was too late as I had finished my breakfast.
Review 29:Very good country hotel with lovely gardens to wander round.
Review 30:It was a little further out.....down a narrow windy lane....than I expected...but worth it.
Review 31:Passford was lovely, comfortable and we felt very relaxed from the time of booking in till we had to leave. The staff were lovely and friendly. A nice short break
Review 32:We didn't like the fact of the cost of the room was around £200 by night and didn't get any fridge inside the bedroom but once again staff was really helpful to any special enquiries
Review 33:The staff was very professional as all we know it's a hard work to deal with different customer behaviour.
Review 34:Room looks a bit warmed out, but I guess that's why it was affordable.
Review 35:The dinner was very high standard. Much better than expected. Close to New forest.
Review 36:The pool could have been a little warmer and we were a bit disappointed that there wasn't a Jacuzzi, apparently this was a 'dipping pool'.
Review 37:The staff were amazing and helpful and the hotel and grounds were beautiful. We loved the hotel room and the food was awesome.
Review 38:Loved my room but would have appreciated another plug socket, could only find one
Review 39:As stated, lovely location, so near to the New Forest but a lovely quiet peaceful escape. Very homely feel.
Review 40:It was a small point, but it was a shame that the sauna wasn't working. We always look forward to using that. Also the rule about not swimming unattended; although I realize that this was out of your control.
Review 41:Excellent food and services. The staff were polite and efficient. The trip was really good value for money. It would be great to have a reply to my review!
Review 42:The sauna was out of order which was a little poor and the facilities would benefit from a Jacuzzi. It also would be nice if the pool table/tennis table were available 24 hours, so we could have enjoyed it on the Friday night.
Review 43:The staff were lovely as were the grounds, the room, the bathroom and the breakfast. Also had a lovely view.
Review 44:Not bad but disappointing Turned away from breakfast for being 10 mins late, rectified after speaking with more senior member of staff
Review 45:relaxed atmosphere combined with olde world feel. Food excellent.
Review 46:We had a superior room with a promise on the web site of a nice garden view which we did not get.. We paid £190 for bed and breakfast per night for each of the two nights we stayed and felt it was not value for money
Review 47:Staff mostly helpful and we had a comfortable bed
Review 48:Nothing
Review 49:All staff are friendly and helpful with excellent local knowledge. Service in the restaurant and bar is good. Comfortable lounges and superb grounds.
Review 50:A little bit of music filtering up to the bedroom from the restaurant.(our bedroom was above)
Review 51:The relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The comfortable bed. The good food. The peace and quiet.
Review 52:The information regarding pets was misleading in that it implied we could take our dog in any of the downstairs rooms. What they meant was bedrooms. The hotel is not really pet friendly so should say so. Also, the idea that no-one can swim unless accompanied we have never experienced before in many years of staying in hotels.
Review 53:The receptionist could have been slightly more welcoming on arrival, also most of the waiting staff were foreign and although very friendly there were a few language difficulties.
Review 54:The style of the hotel was beautiful, old fashioned and romantic. The food was excellent.
Review 55:Road signs to hotel could be a little bit clearer
Review 56:The four poster bed was amazing and the bath in the room was lovely perfect for our first couple of nights as a newly married couple
Review 57:Shower didn't work properly as shower head clogged up. Bed was 2 singles joined together giving a ridge in middle. Gardens need some tlc.
Review 58:Overall ambience very relaxing. Staff very attentive and personable. Restaurant, bar and lounge all welcoming, pleasant rooms.
Review 59:The hotel is showing its age a bit and could do with some freshening up. Also a bit more wardrobe space in the rooms would be welcome. Occasionally the service was rather slow for some reason. For the price of a superior room we might have expected a fridge to be included.
Review 60:It's in a great location and the grounds are superb. The staff are very helpful, friendly and obliging. There's an excellent swimming pool and a passable gym.
Review 61:Lovely setting for a clean welcoming hotel offering excellent facilities, delicious food and old-fashioned service. Booked a superior room which was very comfortable. Restaurant excellent for both dinner and breakfast.
Review 62:The hotel was lovely and we had a great time there for my parent's Golden Wedding Anniversary. All the staff were brilliant, extremely polite and helpful. We would certainly look at staying there again.
Review 63:Poor dining experience on first night. Ordered a starter of smoked salmon and it was rediculously small for the price. Lack of a senior supervisor in dining room to make sure all the guests were well looked after. Too difficult for a large number of trainees.
Review 64:Good reception staff. Good leisure facilities Lovely gardens
Review 65:The bed could have been a little more comfortable, but that is down to our personal preference.
Review 66:Very nice independent country hotel in a lovely secluded location. Clean comfortable room. Excellent breakfast choice. Friendly staff.
Review 67:Bar prices a little high.
Review 68:The staff are excellent and the hotel and grounds lovely. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. I can't wait to stay again.
Review 69:Wifi none existent. Terrible bathroom in room 138. Shower is attached to taps with no where to hang it, the shower hose is too short to reach above your head, while moving the hose it turns off cold water, not good when the hot water runs incredibly hot.For the price of the room I expected much better. Staff were uninterested in my complaint and no refund was given.
Review 70:Nice gardens.
Review 71:After a long journey I decided to take a relaxing bath. I was about toput in the bath plug when I noticed a matted mass of hairs in theplughole, which must have been there for some time. Clearly there hadbeen no attention to detail when servicing this room. I did inform thereception who said that they would arrange to have the room deepcleaned but clearly this was to be after I left and of no use to mewhilst I was there.
Review 72:Excellent location and pleasant staff.
Review 73:Booked because of the indoor and outdoor pools. The indoor pool is too shallow to swim in and the outdoor pool doesn't appear to ever be open. Other things advertised don't come up to scratch - having a table tennis table next to the gym equipment is not ideal
Review 74:Nice location and comfortable
Review 75:Unfortunately for us it was a little too isolated for what we wanted to do, to go to anywhere in the evening you needed either a car or taxis. Roads/paths not suitable to walk
Review 76:The bed was not comfortable. We spoke to the staff about it the following morning and they said they would ensure that the bed was suitable next time we stayed. They also had toppers we could have used but we did not know that.
Review 77:The location, the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff we met. The leisure facilities were very good and the gardens beautiful. The breakfast was delicious and we have booked again for next year.
Review 78:Lovely, old fashioned hotel with really nice, friendly, helpful staff, good leisure facilities, delicious food and beautiful grounds to explore. Lots of lovely snugs to relax and lose yourself in. A little piece of heaven and we will be back agaon soon!
Review 79:Beautiful hotel in extensive grounds which are landscaped. Very comfortable bedrooms and lounge areas. Staff are polite and helpful. We enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and exploring the grounds. Overall the best hotel I have stayed in it is a hidden gem. We will be returning.
Review 80:Breakfast service was poor and disappointing. WiFi not working in the room. Bike rental didn't work for us. Dinner was a bit overpriced for the area. Old & tired facilities (e.g. sauna and pool),
Review 81:Great location and peaceful relaxing atmosphere. Lovely historical building. Our room had a beautiful 'forest view'. Room was nice and quite spacious. Staff was helpful.
Review 82:Disappointed that breakfast closed so early on the Saturday. Having had a wedding, we were quite tired and so a later breakfast would have been welcomed. All of our guests stated the same.
Review 83:The weather which made the gardens all the more beautiful. The staff were courteous and we could have a drink after midnight following my wedding elsewhere. A very pleasant and desirable setting and interior. I feel that the website does not give the hotel justice and could be sold more.
Review 84:Leisure area, pool, sauna and gym were not up to the same standard as the rest of the hotel
Review 85:Room with the roll top bath and four poster bed was fantastic, the food and staff superb, and the overall stay more than satisfied or needs
Review 86:No Wifi.
Review 87:Very comfortable hotel, like staying in a gentlemans residence. The staff couldn't have been more friendly nothing was too much trouble. Very dog friendly we could even take our dog with us for meals. Would recommend this hotel.
Review 88:Location commands 4* prices but the food is distinctly average
Review 89:A lovely English 3* Country House Hotel in a beautiful setting supported by excellent staff
Review 90:Size of room. Lack of flannels, fridge, ironing facilities. Cost of such a small room. Excessive breakfast charge. Breakfast not included.
Review 91:Location. Grounds. Appearance.
Review 92:We loved the 'old fashioned' service, where nothing was too much trouble - so much nicer than in 'corporate' hotels. Especially loved being taken to our table for dinner, with our pre-dinner drinks collected on to a tray, and being seated, with our napkins placed on our laps with a flourish! Food was divine. Definitely a return visit is on the cards.
Review 93:Poor welcome regarding child eating in restaurant. So they lost £100+ food and wine that evening and we ate elsewhere and our child sat at the table all evening and as parents we managed her as always.
Review 94:Location and room
Review 95:Sauna was never switched on during times the pool was open. There was a note on the sauna door stating " if you require the sauna telephone reception". No good if you can't wait an hour or so for it to heat up. Strict rules that dogs should not be left alone in the rooms should be adhered to. We were disturbed three nights running by a whimpering dog in the next room. Hotel decor needs updating.h
Review 96:Room size good with large bathroom. Breakfast good. Gardens lovely. Remote site nice and peaceful. Staff friendly.
Review 97:Poor water pressure which made filling the bath painfull and if anyone else turned on a tap the water would stop completely!
Review 98:Beautiful light and airy spacious bedroom with four poster bed and roll top bath.
Review 99:The hotel is quite tired and a bit 'eighties' looking; it needs updating. The bed was very hard but I like a soft mattress.
Review 100:The location was wonderful - right in the forest and very peaceful. The meal in the restaurant was very good too. It was fine for a one night stay.
Review 101:The hotel was extremely old fashioned. The shower took quite a long time to get hot and the rooms and the other areas were so dated. It was not our taste at all.
Review 102:The wifi worked well, the location of the hotel is excellent, right in the New Forest. Breakfast was also very good, with the hot food in particular cooked very nicely.
Review 103:Lack of lift, only 1 disabled parking space close to hotel, more were needed due to number of elderly residents. Complicated discount system for B & B guests who want to have dinner. Discount should be simplified and automatic for those spending above £70.00. Unheated outdoor pool.
Review 104:Restaurant food was excellent, gardens were very attractive and spacious
Review 105:Some of the decor is looking a little tired. Restaurant menu looked over priced, but the bar menu suited us (still not cheap).
Review 106:Building full of charm and character. Excellent large bedroom for a family of four (children aged 8 and 10) - a real plus to have decent private space. Friendly and accommodating staff. Pretty grounds. We will revisit!
Review 107:I was expecting abit more from the evening meal, given the price. Breakfast was the same all 3 mornings.
Review 108:Pretty gardens, 2 pools, good, but limited gym, very good receptionists. Nice location, good pubs nearby.
Review 109:Beds a little narrow WiFi pickup in rooms is poor Courtyard can be noisy & smokey Staff are a bit hurried (quick to clear away from table even if you haven't finished eating!) Receptionist answers the phones so you can be kept waiting even for simple enquiries
Review 110:Location Swimming Pool Breakfast is excellent Massage very good Gardens amazing
Review 111:Lovely peacfull hotel for our 40th wedding anniversary celebration.the 4 poster bed room was excellent.food and staff were excellent to would definatly recommend
Review 112:saauna/jacuzzi not working, water with dinner £4 a bottle, back ground music in bar should be updated.
Review 113:accomodation (room) was excellent, food was good, grounds were excellent.
Review 114:Spoon stuck to saucer sums up cleanliness. Facilities distinctly average. Sauna not working at time of our stay. "Gym" has a pool table and table tennis table in it, plus antiquated multi-gym, cheap water rower, ancient cross-trainer & bike, and a treadmill.
Review 115:Staff good. Location OK. Quiet.
Review 116:Staff were efficient, but not particularly friendly. Room was okay, but Wifi was non existent and shower was very poor (either cold or scalding). Expensive for what you get.
Review 117:Lovely location.
Review 118:A clock radio would have been nice for when the television was switched off last thing at night.
Review 119:Set in a peaceful location but with easy links to places of interest. Staff were always willing to help with information, such as printing out the train times for Bournemouth. Gluten free alternatives provided with no problems.
Review 120:We were charged £10 for a travel cot, hadn't been informed of charges prior to the stay. The room smelled of smoke which wasn't ideal bearing in mind we had a young baby. Had to eat in lounge after 6 in view of having a child, the area wasn't very conducive to having a family meal.
Review 121:Location and staff were very helpful
Review 122:Breakfast buffet not up to expected standard. Either over cooked or warm, scrambled egg consisted of mashed up hard boiled.
Review 123:Lovely situation and gardens although they need some weeding and tidying up. Pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 124:The bed was very hard and lumpy due to the springs being pronounced.
Review 125:The hotel was nice, spacious and the grounds were lovely. The bar was very cosy and the meals were excellent.
Review 126:Everything was great except the food offer which had barely a veggie option let alone vegan so we had to take a taxi to the nearest Thai restaurant (which was lovely)
Review 127:Great hotel, lovely staff, nice rooms, brilliant location
Review 128:I think the food, particularly dinner is overpriced for what it is. Although some dishes are good, I would expect to pay 40% less for them!
Review 129:Comfort, gardens and particularly Waiting staff.
Review 130:My girlfriend and I along with our dog stayed for one night before catching the ferry to the Isle of Wight. The hotel is lovely set in wonderful grounds a couple of miles from Lymington Town. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The room was lovely with a king size bed, plenty of room and a very spacious bathroom. There were some dog treats for our dog, a water bowl, towel and feeding mat! We had dinner in the Reception Lounge where our dog was welcome. The fillet steak was absolutely perfect and my girlfriend had the lamb which again was cooked to perfection. For dessert I had a chocolate and boozy cherry torte and my girlfriend had Eton Mess which were both divine. For breakfast I had the full English and my girlfriend had smoked Haddock and poached eggs, which again was excellent. It was a pity we were only staying for one night! We didn't get chance to have a dip in the indoor pool but it looked very inviting. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 131:No air conditioning or fan in room. Not topped up with milk, so returning late evening unable to make a cup of tea then or when we woke the next am.
Review 132:Friendly and welcoming staff, cleanliness of room and lovely, peaceful grounds.
Review 133:The staff said we could have breakfast with our dog in the lounge and thy they would set it up for us. This wasn't done and when we asked in the morning it took us chasing them again for it to happen.
Review 134:The bed, the garden and the dog friendliness!
Review 135:As a person in their eighties, very nice, and comfortable, but only stayed 1 night, so probably more to say. I was with my Grandson and his girlfriend, who I understand enjoyed their swim.
The Fine Print
