Reviews for The Kings Head
Review 1:WiFi signal was sporadic in the room but strong in the bar. This is not necessarily the fault of the hotel but is factor if you need to work. A small suggestion, put coat hangers on the back of doors for wet rain coats!
Review 2:Good location, comfortable and clean, good value for money.
Review 3:The room was nothing like the photo advertising . Only saw the landlady on day of arriving ..The room needs up dating Karaoke on till very late .no where to leave keys when departing .
Review 4:It was close to family I was visiting
Review 5:Room was dirty, lights didnt work, lack of plug sockets considering the average household has 2 mobile phones only one socket. No advice in check out even on check out time. Staff rude and tried to pin the blame on us due to member of public being sick outside the premises.... Could have been any one of the punters in the pub.
Review 6:Not a lot
Review 7:It was lovely. Very reasonably priced. The only downside was it was a few miles from town but not really a problem.
Review 8:The barmaid was friendly. Nice locals too. One of the guys gave us a lift into town as our taxi was going to be too late.
Review 9:Parking is limited. And a bit tight. On road parking is available after 6pm though.
Review 10:This is Rooms above a pub. And is busy on some evenings with Skittles clubs. Its a local pub with regular after work drinkers. The range of beers is good and priced reasonably. Though food is served its very limited however the Pizza is a must try. Absolutely stunning.. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Rooms are clean and tidy, though could do with a little maintenance.
Review 11:No toiletries provided, which is fine, but I would expect to find some soap or liquid to be able to wash our hands in the bathroom. When I asked about soap, I was told that they keep asking booking.com to remove the comment about the toiletries but that they do not do it. We were told that we could purchase toiletries next door at the Spar shop! Windows old, dirty and do not fit and therefore draughty on a very windy night (which it was) - heating good and made up for the heat loss. More than anything the windows (frames and glass) need a good clean and then a regular wipe over. Particularly relevant behind the no smoking sign. Bed, old but comfortable.l Bathroom, Shower well fitted, towels provided, good hot towel rail. But, centre light not working nor the light over the sink. Only light working was above the enclosed shower. There is no restaurant, just a small bar menu of finger food. Very limited and could not be classed as a meal. We had the platter for two and it was good, tasty snack food. Flat screen television with a remote control with no batteries in it. There is parking opposite the pub which is free if there is space available. Staff, OK. We stayed on a Karaokee night which went on until 2am, very noisy. We too had the room up the alley and steps with the ill fitting windows that another guest appears to also have had. We agree with his comments regarding this. If you stay here it is useful to take a small torch. Yes, cheap but not that cheap.
Review 12:The platter for two in the pub. Free parking. Easy reach of Bridgwater and Hinckley Point. Free good wi-fi.
Review 13:The room might have been cheap but it was not value for money. room had stale cigarette smell. The pub clientèle used the window cill of the room to sit on and smoke. the first night there was a darts function going on in the pub. the noise went on until around 2 am right outside the window. the second night was karaoke night, crooning until around 11 pm. The room was grubby apart from the bed. the kettle in the room had water left in it? and the inside of the kettle was filthy. The access to the room when the pub was shut was through a very dirty alley and uneven steps through the beer garden. cigarette butts everywhere. definitely not suitable for people with mobility problems.
Review 14:nothing
Review 15:Furnitures and other items of the room were preatty old and fragile.Isolation was bad, we had rude guests in the next room, drinking, screaming and partying until 2 am.
Review 16:The price of the rooms is really competitive. Rooms are clean. Rooms close to a really typical English pub.
Review 17:I'm not sure how anyone could have given this more than a rating of 5, so I suspect that half the booking.com reviews are false. I genuinely thought i'd gone to the wrong place at first. After I had unstuck my right arm from the bar (it was filthy), i was shown out past the loos and up a little flight of steps, through a tiny corridor full of spiders' webs and mosquitos (king size gnats), to a very budget style room. Budget is not so bad, but: * I'm sure that the bed springs left marks on my back * the Windows were ancient and didn't close properly (so you could listen to the drunks coming and going outside in the smoking area to your hearts content) * I'm not sure if they did food, as I lived on sandwiches after seeing through the kitchen window (you have to go out through a pokey alleyway festooned with all manner of stuff if the bar doors not open) I'm never taking a booking.com review seriously ever again!!!
Review 18:Erm... It was only £45 and staff friendly
Review 19:Even though it was old, I think they could have replaced simple things like side table lamp for example
Review 20:Friendly, quiet and clean and a lovely location
Review 21:The staff were really nice me and my brother had a really nice weekend
Review 22:excellent. very friendly and welcoming staff.
Review 23:Staff were fabulous, helpful, kind and made sure we enjoyed visit.
Review 24:There was no mention of breakfast which I thought was included in the price. The building is old the room slanted quiet a bit.
Review 25:Very helpful staff as I had a delayed arrival and they stayed up for me
Review 26:To be fair the pictures didn't do it justice!
