Reviews for Les Colonnes
Review 1:Room had an excellent view of the harbour. Central location. Room was small but comfortable. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
Review 2:Overall the hotel was a bit dingy and original room offered was small and harbour view was via a small window, upgraded to a balcony room that was much better.
Review 3:Great position
Review 4:The breakfast was poor value for money half a french stick croissant and Jam for 9 Euro?? Biggest problem was mosquitoes in non AC bedroom. was eaten alive the second night. Take a spray of some sort.
Review 5:The location is superb and the friendly family were great
Review 6:The mature female proprietor was unhelpful and very unfriendly. She did not even respond when I said "Bonjor" in passing. Unbelievable. the room was not as expected and not what I was lead to believe I had booked and did not match the picuture on my booking confirmation. It was extremely tired, the bed was the most unconfortable I have ever slept on and I could not wait to get up and out of the room each day. From other reviews I have read everyone seems to rave about the location of the hotel, stating it is good priced accommodation bearing in mind it's setting. I believe comments like that lead the owners / management to a "couldn't care less attitude" and it's excuses them from doing any maintenance or making any form of effort with the guests. Thankfully, the bar waiter who served my husband and I was helpful and efficient. The only asset to this hotel. We won't be returning.
Review 7:The location of the hotel was stunning. Overlooking the picturesque harbour of St Martin de Re.
Review 8:The bathroom was quite small , the shower was over the bath with no shower curtain so water went everywhere.
Review 9:Location of hotel right on the harbour - couldn't be better. Handy for cafes, restaurants, transport. Very welcoming, family-run no frills hotel with good restaurant.
Review 10:The so called City view with a constant gate opening and closing all night as it had not been shut properly!!
Review 11:The location was very central although I would have perfered a Harbour view rather than a back yard (Bookings .com refers to it as a City view!!) but assume this is your sales team idea of a view
Review 12:No explanation with regards to breakfast and breakfast staff couldn't speak English. Not a major problem though as there is a fabulous bakery a few steps away.
Review 13:Excellent location in Centre of town with lovely harbor views. Also free parking available short distance away. Vibrant town with good restaurants.
Review 14:Room was quite small. We had just arrived for a 2 week self catering stay on another part of the island so we had quite a lot of luggage and it was certainly a squeeze to get everything in. But it was ok for one night. The breakfast was very minimal....but this is typical in France.
Review 15:Very friendly and welcoming staff. Nice to have a little balcony in our room.
Review 16:No bad experience only thing to note is that reception might be aware of the bus service available around the island. You cannot get taxis, so if you can't cycle for any reason this is necessary.
Review 17:Bright friendly hotel, excellent view from balcony over the river and port. Right in the middle of things in Saint Martin.
Review 18:As with nearly all French hotels they never provide enough wardrobe hanging space. It was surprising that the shower over the bath did not have a screen or a curtain to prevent water splashing over the floor.
Review 19:Overall the hotel was great for our 3 night stay and generally a good standard for its rating. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The bed was especially comfortable.
Review 20:That the safe in our room locked us out, but it was solved easily by friendly staff.
Review 21:That it was in the centre of the harbour and wasn't noisy as the double glazing was excelent. Good friendly staff. It doesn't get much better than drinking a bottle of pocal fizzy on the balcony over looking the harbour.
Review 22:The bedroom was a little basic with an inaccessible wardrobe but would still return if we revisit this lovely island.
Review 23:Lovely friendly helpful staff in this family run hotel. Excellent position on the harbour with private car park 5 mins walk away. Food very good.
Review 24:Nothing.
Review 25:Such a delightful place. The hotel has been in the family since 1905 and they are so proud of the fact.. and rightly. They are delightful people, the view from the room - small but that is always the case on the Ile de Re -was wonderful, every comfort. Even a lift ! Alas it was only a one-night stay en route but we plan a longer visit next year. If you want large, impersonal, corporate with the corporate smiles attached, this is not for you.. if you want a genuine family-run hotel with absolutely delightful staff and in the best spot on St Martin, this IS for you.
Review 26:The hotel was very comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent, with a good choice. The location could not be better.
Review 27:It has it all... harbour-facing location, good bar and terrace area, and rooms with harbour-view and some with balconies - and some of the nearby 'better' hotels have none of these!
Review 28:Hotel not full ( only 6 rooms occupied and we got a small room overlooking someones yard, certainly not a view of old town!! Asked for a room out port side to be told it would be more expensive. Car parking in the hotel car park an extra € 15 per day.
Review 29:Great location on the port.
Review 30:only thing I would say negative was that the hotel room was very small for the money paid even though it was a fantastic view.
Review 31:location of hotel and a nice friendly staff.
Review 32:As noted above, everything was wonderful. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel! The hotel restaurant is excellent.
Review 33:room quite small. The harbour view from the room was superb if you coul forget the roof of the cafe immediately below the bedroom window.
Review 34:Staff were very friendly. room was clean. Parking facilities excellent. Hotel in the centre of Ile de Re.
Review 35:No parking We were advised to park in the public car Park nearby. We arrived at 3pm in the car park and left the following day at 12 noon. We were charged 34 euros. We were told it cost 15 Euros per day but had considered a day being 24 hours. Had to leave the room at 10 Am too early!!! No shower curtain.
Review 36:Good location very central
Review 37:Having to pay for the car-park especially as it isn't attached to the hotel, but requires a couple of minutes walk. Some bedrooms are very small.
Review 38:Location is superb. Staff friendly. Hotel has own restaurant and food is very good.
Review 39:Loved this hotel. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We had a room with a view over the harbour which was great and very clean. Evening meal was very good quality fresh food. Would definitely recommend this hotel
Review 40:Not warned that the hotel is on a pedestrian way so that you cannot get near it without a special pass.
Review 41:Location of hotel View from bedroom - worth paying extra Friendly staff
Review 42:Having to leave
Review 43:The location was out of this world to sit on your own balcony over looking the old harbour was great Was only going to stay the one night but loved it so much stayed an extra night The owner Sophie was a breath of fresh air with a great sense of humour
Review 44:Needs air conditioning in hot summer months. Shower fixed on wall over bath not great.
Review 45:Can't beat the location , room small but adequate. Staff very pleasant and accommodating.
Review 46:Breakfast was a rip off, should have been included in bedroom price. Room was very small and compact. With parking, breakfast and room, we spent 157 €. Whilst we enjoyed our stay, it wasn't worth the money.
Review 47:Location was perfect, worth the extra to have a harbour view. Hotel parking wAs much cheaper than municipal parking
Review 48:Request harbour view with a balcony-well worth the extra. The room was modern and up to date. A good shower. All the staff were really friendly & helpful. Had dinner one night- very good.
Review 49:Rooms and bathrooms need refurbishing, parking and breakfast all charged as extra
Review 50:Excellent staff, great location
Review 51:Lovely location, comfortable accommodation, friendly staff.
Review 52:Nothing
Review 53:Location
Review 54:Hearing other occupants use the toilet!!Good location, clean
Review 55:Location and very clean
Review 56:Very noisy room at front of hotel - 2 sleepless nights!
Review 57:None
Review 58:Great location very friendly helpful staff
Review 59:Shower didn't have a curtain so water went all over the floor.
Review 60:The staff were fantastic, really kind and helpful.
Review 61:Finding it and initial parking.
Review 62:Great location. Quiet town view room with sunny balcony.
Review 63:Fantastic location, wonderful harbour view with balcony, lovely friendly and helpful staff.
Review 64:La situation
Review 65:The location and friendly and helpful staff
Review 66:no complaints
Review 67:staff pleasant and welcoming. location ideal.
Review 68:The location was perfect with views over the old harbour. The staff were very nice and helpful. The weather was beautiful.
Review 69:Location by harbourside, quiet room on second floor at back with pleasant view over roof tops, helpfulness and friendliness of staff
Review 70:Room with sea view
Review 71:Good value hotel well placed in St Martin.
Review 72:walls a bit thin, no air con, no reception area
Review 73:Comfortable well decorated rooms, and friendly staff, great location
Review 74:nothing.
Review 75:The Location and restaurant.
Review 76:First floor room facing the harbour was clean and comfortable. No sign of the noise mentioned on other reviews. Staff where very kind and helpful.
Review 77:Friendly helpful staff at reception and restaraunt
Review 78:Right at the port side. Very good food and service
Review 79:very nice and comfortable room, very friendly staff, also the hotel is central to all things needed for a short stay.
Review 80:Fantastic location
Review 81:Everything
Review 82:Nothing really.
Review 83:Location. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the harbour.
Review 84:At night the noise from the street below, and sound of boat and lorry engines kept us awake.
Review 85:The location on the quayside was great, but ...
Review 86:mixed level of friendliness of staff
Review 87:lovely location
Review 88:Location Everybody was friendly and very eager to please View from our room (#19)
Review 89:A bit noisy from the hallway
Review 90:Nice location in busy, cosy harbour. Good breakfast at low cost in the cafe
Review 91:no tea making facilities.
Review 92:wonderful staff.
Review 93:Early morning refuse collections
Review 94:Location.staff were very friendly.parking facility.very close to bars and restaurants
Review 95:We loved the location in St Martin and found the staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 96:Parking - complicated access
Review 97:Location, buzz, room view
Review 98:Parking is a 5 minute walk away if you want to park for free - but we were able to drop off the bags and pick them up again at the end without a problem
Review 99:Location couldn't be better right in the centre and we had a nice room overlooking the harbour. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was good but a bit expensive but then everything on the Ile de Re is expensive.
Review 100:Reception was poor. Was not informed of the method of accessing the hotel. Do not go there at the weekend. Restricted access. Only available to those who have the hotel special card to gain access to the marina area. Enter from the La Rochelle road via the first roundabout, do not go on to the second, you will end up in a car park which is most confusing. We walked from the car park to the hotel before realising that we had made the mistake of which road to enter the town of Sant Martin. Care to be taken when wishing to tuner or leaving the village due to the restricted entrance. Restaurants are not very imaginative on their menu. Most disappointing. Not much fish and service was a bit poor. No restaurants to speak of restricting what food is available to the hotels. Would not bother to stay in this place again.
Review 101:Not a lot.
Review 102:Our original room was poor and in dire need of refurbishment. We upgraded to a better room which was great but blew our budget as it cost 50% more!
Review 103:The location was brilliant, straight on the harbour side.
Review 104:Hotel bedrooms are pretty tired and could do with some updating. Staff did not really care about hotel guests. Bar and restaurant are busy so think they were more concerned with these guests.
Review 105:Location was excellent St Martin-de-Re is beautiful and well worth a trip. Would consider another hotel next time.
Review 106:Overpriced hotel Tiny rooms with no space other than for the bed Tiny bathroom, bath with no shower curtains meaning the bathroom is inundated with water after each shower! The owner is unfriendly (she's only after your money) and unhelpful, younger staff more professional
Review 107:Great location
Review 108:Very friendly and welcoming staff, uncomplicated, lovely view of the harbour, simple room, but everything we needed. Great location right by the harbour with all the restaurants and bars. Would definitly stay again.
Review 109:No AC, hot and very noisy all night in harbour view room. complex access through pedestrian area to hotel.
Review 110:location, people eventually private car parking
Review 111:the rooms could do with a coat of paint (walls were sticky for some reason!). Also a late night cockroach on the ground was an unwelcome addition. Also, we had no air conditioning which was tough in those temperatures. But I would still stay here again!
Review 112:Location was fantastic!! Situated in the heart of this beautiful old port, right amid the hustle and bustle of the evening markets, with lots of fantastic restaurants to choose from, saint Martin Dr Re is well with a visit!!
Review 113:Hair dryer was broken. No shower curtain. No TV channnels in English. TV channels intermittent. Problem connecting to internet etc. Breakfast overpriced for what ot was.
Review 114:Harbour side location. Bar area.
Review 115:Lovely location right beside the quay. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Friendly staff. Good car park. Simple, clean and comfortable hotel, just what we needed.
Review 116:Entrance fee to get to island 8 Eur + no free parking at all. Hotel offers parking far away from entrance, smell in the room (cleaning detergents), some from staff were unfriendly for english-speaking guests
Review 117:Location, TV, bed, balcony
Review 118:this hotel has the best location of st martin de re. You can observe all the harbor activity from your bedroom window.Near to all the narrow shopping streets and covered market.Staff were friendly. they make delicious pancakes
Review 119:Very small room which was great for a couple of nights but would be cramped for a week if we had had a lot of luggage. Breakfast consisted of one croissant, two pieces bread with butter and jam, pot of coffee and juice but at 9 euros 80 it was expensive. Better to go elsewhere or stop at the local bakery just a few steps from hotel. Dinner was nice but again overpriced. Menu of the day looked better value.
Review 120:Excellent location right in harbour front and middle of St Martin de Re. Very friendly staff with one peaking good English. Even the back facing rooms had a little balcony and sun most of the day. Front facing rooms were in the shade more.
Review 121:Hotel is dated & tired. It could benefit from refurbishment to bring it up to modern standards.
Review 122:However the hotel offers a very basic standard.
Review 123:The location was excellent
