Reviews for Norseman Hotel
Review 1:Poor reception on the TV. Breakfast hot food left out to long under the heat lamps, resulting in some of the food being very dry and tasteless.
Review 2:Central location, Friendliness of the staff.
Review 3:There was nothen I did not like
Review 4:I have stay there to times now and it's was great both times staff was nice and was very impressed with the service we got at meal times I will definitely be back to stay
Review 5:The very loud noisy people on the landing who woke us up at 2.15am and the very noisy heating system which kept waking us up even though we turned the radiator off.
Review 6:Breakfast was very good.
Review 7:Lack of atmospheric in the bar and restaurant as the are big spaces that need broken up a bit to make them cosier .
Review 8:Handy location. Food was nice and reasonably priced Rooms were fine and clean
Review 9:Everything was fine
Review 10:Although some of the accomodation and fittings were slightly dated, they are in the process of being upgraded. The rooms were spotless. Full marks to the maid service.
Review 11:The decor in the bathroom was poor. In particular a leaky tap that had leaked so long it had worn though to the green enamel. The hot food for breakfast didn't look the greatest especially lying underneath some tin foil so don't know how long it had been sitting. The was a good selection though of cold breakfast items.
Review 12:The staff were lovely, especially the lady who checked me in. Pat I think her name was. The room itself was well furnished and the bed was comfortable.
Review 13:Bed was very hard and uncomfortable, carpets were stained and dirty and under the desk had not seen a Hoover for a long time. The hotel is quite run down and the furniture is generally shabby. Staff fawned over the coach party (who were loud and obnoxious at 06:00) but ignored other guests. Breakfast room was so dirty that I sent a complaint to the local environmental health officer. Food was cold and was really just left overs from the coach parties early breakfast. This hotel is a health hazard.
Review 14:Convenient for the town.
Review 15:Rubbish service. I have rang three times for a VAT receipt. The staff just IGNORE the requests. They have their money - they don't care.
Review 16:Hotel was very pleasant and peaceful
Review 17:The hotel is very tired and the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything from the room next door. Wifi was as slow as dial up used to be when it worked. Broken shower head.Disappointing.
Review 18:Unfortunately the hotel has rooms which face a car park and boy racers use it through the early hours of the morning at the weekend. The staff have tried to stop the activity. I will be contacting the police /council separately as I appreciate their is little the hotel can do.
Review 19:We had no complaints about the location of the hotel staff or breakfast. The food was fresh and there was good options. The staff were polite and helpful. We were offered tea or coffee while sitting in the lounge reading the paper which was a nice gesture.
Review 20:Nothing-value for money was good.
Review 21:The staff were excellent in helping with a major unknown problem regarding bank card security and were true professionals. It was much appreciated. It was also helpful to have return flight boarding passes printed and check in confirmed for the following day.
Review 22:The lack of response in dealing with maintenance issues in the rooms was rather annoying. The main concern was that I did not like the fact that my full credit card details were left on the front desk on a scrap of paper. The most worrying part about my stay, which could be coincidental, is that on the occasions that I checked out of the hotel my bank reported had unusual activity on my credit card.
Review 23:The food was fairly good. The haggis bon-bons were nice. The steak pie was particularly good. If you like a good pint, the Caledonia Best was pretty good. The WIFI was widely available, albeit a little slow.
Review 24:My only negative was with the wait for the evening meal being served. Was not told what the soup of the day was. Was never asked if I was happy with my meal or asked if I would like another drink.
Review 25:As it was my first stay at the hotel. I was shown were every thing was even my room. Evening meal and breakfast was excellent.
Review 26:Floor clearly hadn't been hoovered between guests and bathroom door didn't shut properly
Review 27:Basic and dated but provides everything you need for an overnight stay
Review 28:Unable to arrive due to a major medical emergency. I am a physician so I proposed a medical certificate signed by me or the receiving hospital, but the management was not interested and I was charged full price despite the efforts of booking.com. Made several quid on an empty room, and lost a customer.
Review 29:Looks good on hotels.com
Review 30:Cold, Draughty window, standard of breakfast, profesionalism of bar staff and waitress staff.
Review 31:Bed
Review 32:Helpful and friendly staff, food excellent quality great value for money.
Review 33:Evening meals not available due to an event, breakfast room soulless
Review 34:Walking distance to town
Review 35:Rooms a little dated.
Review 36:Very friendly staff excellent location and good parking.
Review 37:Expensive for the price
Review 38:We arrived off the Inverness train late in the evening, so late checkin was a bonus. Close to the station
Review 39:Very tired bathroom noisy heating system ( kept me awake )
Review 40:Ample free parking friendly welcome
Review 41:cold breakfast when we went down to breakfast

Review 65:Friendly staff and comfortable clean room. Local to town centre
Review 66:Food selection on Sunday poor Opted for take away meal in the room
Review 67:Staff Location
Review 68:Only the weather let us down a wee bit
Review 69:Fresh fruit each day in room, very good food, friendly local staff
Review 70:When i got there the hotel had no records of booking or details of booking from Booking.Com
Review 71:staff very good.
Review 72:Staff were very helpful and friendly. One lady went out of her way to fit us in for dinner in the very busy restaurant to ensure my children were fed quickly after a long drive. Room was comfortable and modern. Breakfast was lovely.
Review 73:Not that we disliked it, but odd going through dining area to rooms.
Review 74:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent even though we came down rather late for our breakfast!
Review 75:Unfortunately, the wifi is the slowest connection that I ever encountered in my life. I couldn't even access to my email due to the slow connection. What a let down :(
Review 76:The staffs are really friendly and the room is clean.
Review 77:The Hotel is located opposite a public car park which is used in the evening as a meeting point for young car owners, lots of revving of engines, tyre screeching and loud voices. Not the hotels fault I know, but quite intimidating when going for a walk in the evening.
Review 78:Helpful staff, clean rooms, nice breakfast.
Review 79:This is the second time i have stayed here and still cant find any complaints, everyone friendly , the early morning breakfast is handy for us with early start's .
Review 80:Nothing that comes to mind. Some reviewers might call the decor a bit old fashioned in a seventies way, but I like that kind of thing.
Review 81:Bang in the centre of town. What comes with that is having the Bus Station obstructing the view to the river, but it was very quiet. A warm welcome inside, and relaxed and comfortable public areas. The room was comfy, good bed, pillows etc, basically what you get in a good 3/4 star hotel. Big telly with good reception. The staff were all attentive and friendly without overdoing it Will stay again next visit.
Review 82:What is there to not like!!!
Review 83:I often travel with my work and stay in 4/5 star the Norseman was every bit as good as these hotels. The staff coudnt do enough and were so friendly. We ate in the bar and the food was excellent all fresh and extremly tasty as was breakfast. We would definatly stay here again.
Review 84:Squeaky floorboards!
Review 85:1. Location 2. Warm, comfortable room 3. Friendly staff 4. Easy parking 5. Willingness to adapt evening menu to suit our personal requirements.
Review 86:The walls in the rooms are extremelly thin therefore you can hear any noise in adjacent rooms and all walking about in the rooms above. I went to the bar for a drink and a meal to find a very busy bar but no bar person behind the bar. I waited 5 minutes before leaving the hotel to go to a local bar for a drink and a meal.
Review 87:Location and reception staff
Review 88:Hospitality was second to none. All staff were very obliging food was fantastic on every occasion. Breakfast lunch snacks and evening dinner. Bar staff so quick and efficient comfort in all the property.
Review 89:The bathroom, whilst clean, needs a refurbishment.
Review 90:We just stayed two nights as we had come to a family funeral. The room was very clean, the staff very friendly and the food especially at dinner was excellent.
Review 91:Staff were excellent allowing us to book in early. Staff were excellent in coping with a group of 24, looking for an evening meal without pre warning.
Review 92:Liked everything about this hotel it has been refurbished since we last stayed here ,great location ,breakfast good ,wish we were staying longer for the carvery on the Sunday lunch, as we had that in their other place in Castletown a couple of years ago, food was second to none ,and would recommend this hotel without hesitation ,
Review 93:I found the hotel was excellently locate nr both train and bus station. The breakfast ws nice as were all the staff. I will book there again on my next visit
Review 94:Very friendly and welcoming - when problems arose, tried to rectify as much as possible - staff -including hotel owner- worked as a team to handle extreme pressure due to number of guests in restaurant, and took time to apologise for some delays in receiving food.
Review 95:I couldn't fault anything
Review 96:The service was excellent. I arrived a bit late but they were really helpful in making sure I still got a meal. The lady at reception managed to sort a meal then booked me in. Really appreciated that
Review 97:Creaky floors. Walls and ceilings too thin allowing external conversations to intrude.
Review 98:Quiet and convenient central location, really excellent breakfast, friendly staff.
Review 99:1) Initial impression of the building - does not do justice to the inside ! 2) Description on this site of Wick as "picturesque" - it is not!
Review 100:Staff/service unusually good
Review 101:I was double booked in the hotel and was forced to accept bed and breakfast accommodation in a sub standard facility. I was informed by staff in the hotel that this was not uncommon. Very disappointing!
Review 102:Fabric is getting a trifle tired from use and a refurbished entrance door eway and hall would not be a bad start. Rooms however are clean and best the best. Room aare very clean
Review 103:I liked its location, beds, and breakfast. Parking fine too.
Review 104:walls were really thin you could hear the toilet in next room refilling :-(
Review 105:all staff made you feel welcome and had smile on their face all the time :-)
Review 106:The room quality and position--313-was very poor.No lift-third floor-luggage to carry.Carpet marked and worn-doorlock difficuilt-bathroomflush poor bathroom light u/S.ALL This in a Superior Double£100 per day-overpriced.
Review 107:Very, very expensive for what it was. My room had 2 bunk beds as well as double so cramped. Overlooked the carpark - or I should say the carpark overlooked my room so everyone passing could see in. Supposed to have wifi but only able to access it on phone not computer. Lots of people staying. Reception staff seemed not to care.
Review 108:Breakfast was excellent. Bar and restaurant staff pleasant. Location was easy.
Review 109:No hairdryer in room and when requested was told none was available as the 'spare' one was awaiting repair; unable to get food at 8.40pm - we had just arrived after travelling from Orkney and had to go elsewhere for something to eat.
Review 110:Clean comfortable room; friendly staff, good breakfast.
Review 111:Noisy people in next room - walls allowed me to hear their conversation easily at 10pm
Review 112:Closeness to public transport from Inverness, excellent breakfast & comfortable bed.
Review 113:Hotel in need of some refurbishment. Window in bedroom would not close properly. Decor in places tired.
Review 114:Staff were friendly Food good Easy access from station and to rest of town [with its excellent and well worth visiting museum]
Review 115:The WiFi was slow when you could get on and only worked in one spot inthe lounge - nothing in the rooms and the Australians had the sameproblem. The room was far too hot and we were unable to adjust thetemperature. The window was either all the way open or not at all andthe seagulls made such a racket in the parking lot that we had to keepit closed. Terrible mattress. Seemed pricey for a town in the middle ofnowhere, pretty much. It was difficult to locate as well - never didmanage to find a proper street address so the gps didn't like it toomuch. Would never stay there again and quite shocked at the good reviewsit has received.
Review 116:Excellent breakfast - the best we had in two weeks in Scotland. We met some lovely Australian tourists who were all on a bus tour (seemed like the hotel's only other customers).
Review 117:We booked a Superior room but it was one of the smallest hotel rooms Ihave seen. The garden view promised was basically a small section ofrockery. Staff were not particularly attentive. E.g I was not askedabout our stay when we left Wifi was intermittent and slow in the roombut good in the corridor!
Review 118:Breakfast was excellent Evening meals were good but service was slow onone of our two nights Room was clean Bathroom was good
Review 119:Needs refurbishing - they should look to Premier Inns for price and standard example - felt it was over priced for the standard of the rooms
Review 120:location was good for the airport and the staff were friendly and did their best to help. Breakfast was good
Review 121:Evening meals stopped at 19:30 Breakfasts were cold and greasy I was overcharged twice for drinks. The tea making set up in the room was not always replenished.
Review 122:The location
Review 123:Ordered an evening Sunday carvery which was cold and mostly novegetables to chose from as we booked at 7.30pm and wasn't told thatthis was the end of service. The waitress heated up the food when asked.
Review 124:Had a good night's sleep as room was comfortable and the breakfastwas very good.
Review 125:the room was very hot with no way of turning the temperature down as it was coming from a pipe running around the room and not the radiator, which was off. consequently the window was wide open even though it was windy. The room itself was over cluttered with little room to move and on our second day the room was not services at all. the bins were not emptied, beds made or coffee etc replaced. We did not return until nearly 9pm and didn't want the disturbance of reporting it at that late hour. When mentioned during check out, no reconpence was offered just "I'll tell housekeeping". Budget hotel but not budget prices, I expect better service for £80 a night
Review 126:Poor google map location. Poor bedroom to bedroom wall insulationresulting in noise at important 'quiet times'
Review 127:Friendly and helpful staff and good location of hotel.
Review 128:a small comment the google map referrence needs correcting ( wrong side of river)
Review 129:good comfortable clean bed and room. The Sunday Carvery was excellent and the roast beef would certainly win an award
