Reviews for Woodlands Guest House

Review 1:Rory and Lisa are very friendly and they prepared a good breakfast. The room was very clean and cosy. The location is good as well. Good value for money. Highly recommended.

Review 2:N/A.we enjoyed everything

Review 3:We really enjoyed the staying.everything was perfect, from check in to breakfast. This guest house is in a small village outside Inverness that is very quiet and close to Loch Ness. Perfect if you are looking for a place to rest after a long trip to the highlands. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious (you can chose in advance what you want to eat).

Review 4:We really enjoyed our holiday in Woodlands. The room was very nice and clean. It was a good heating system and an extra electrical heater so it was allways warm there. :) Fresh and tasty breakfast.

Review 5:Only an electric heater in our bedroom, but it did the job.

Review 6:Great location on the edge of Loch Ness, friendly hosts and good value for money. Clean, tidy and good breakfast.

Review 7:There is nothing to do. It's probably much more suitable for an older couple. No view. I don't need to be reminded everywhere that smoking is not allowed - who would ever think otherwise.

Review 8:Very clean. Breakfast basic but tasty.

Review 9:Bed quite hard.

Review 10:The location of the b&b is beautiful and situated within easy reach of lots of tourist spots. Room was lovely and fresh and clean with tea/coffee making facilities, toiletries and towels. Lisa, Rory and family all very friendly and accommodating and breakfast was lovely. Highly recommend.

Review 11:The check-in, check-out process was a little awkward, since we had never stayed in a guest house before and didn't quite know what to expect. Breakfast was only served between 8 and 9, which was a little inconvenient, but worth it.

Review 12:The room was nice, with skylights and an en suite bathroom, which was excellent. Breakfast was really good, with lots of options. They had ample parking, and were within walking distance of Urquhart castle and a few places to eat.

Review 13:Walls were a bit thin and could hear crying baby/toddler(?). Also, there were school age children running around and closing doors loudly -- almost slamming. It wasn't awful just a bit annoying. Not necessarily the fault of the owners.

Review 14:It was an OK place. It was clean and roomy but it really wasn't anything special. I would recommend it to someone but let them know that the 9.0 rating might set expectations kind of high and may not be worth the price.

Review 15:Nothing to report.

Review 16:I can't speak highly enough of this place and its great hosts, the young couple Rory and Lisa. We booked a double room for our 4 night stay and got an entire separate apartment! Suffice to say we got the comfortable and quiet stay we wished for with an amazingly comfy bed, a clean and nice bathroom equipped with lots of towels and a pretty view of the garden and hills. Breakfast was made with love and had several options.

Review 17:Twin beds could use more padding on the mattress.

Review 18:We were very comfortable in a beautiful quiet country side area. Rory and Lisa are the best of hosts.

Review 19:Definitely felt more like a business than a welcoming place to stay. Breakfast was fine, but overall service was perfunctory. Breakfast room is locked throughout the day. No public spaces.

Review 20:Spacious room in a quiet location that was easy to find and close to restaurants and the main road.

Review 21:Everything was perfect!

Review 22:Rory and his wife welcomed us very nicely. Good communication before our arrival. A family business very well managed. Good job guys!. Will certainly go back in the future.

Review 23:staff was horrible, 40 min till we got our breakfast where still things were missung said they didn't know about reservation (owners were on holiday, so it was just a friend of them)

Review 24:flat was big and nice

Review 25:Unfortunately owners were on holiday and deputies not as competent as I am sure the owners are.

Review 26:Beautiful suite (sitting room + bedroom) and everything like new. Excellent breakfast.

Review 27:Not much too do in the town itself. Three choices to eat and not much else. Only a half hour from Inverness

Review 28:Very comfortable home, Rory was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions for dinner etc.

Review 29:Leaky radiator meant a change of room and we no longer had an ensuite room. These things happen and owner very apologetic but spoiled the stay.

Review 30:quiet location, walking distance to good restaurant.

Review 31:A little noisy at times but otherwise perfect

Review 32:We upgraded to the one bed apartment which was self contained. Immaculate, cosy and everything you could wish for!

Review 33:The bed was a little uncomfortable for my taste. The room was too warm, even with the window open. No fan available in the room, but we did not ask for one.

Review 34:The location and friendliness of the owners was fantastic. The breakfast was freshly cooked and of high quality and cooked to order. Beautiful location. Peaceful and quiet area. Good food in the local pub for dinner.

Review 35:We booked 2 nights and got there to be told they only had 1 night available. They did not offer to help with arranging other accommodation or assist us anyway to resolve the matter. Felt panicked to find last minute accommodation on our own with limited signal on our phone. Had to rush all sight seeing as we had to leave in the morning to Inverness as it was the only place we could find accommodation.

Review 36:The location

Review 37:Very difficult to find. Would be nice to have a little sign at the turn-off street.

Review 38:Nice clean accommodations within walking distance of cute pubs and shops. Very nice breakfast served.

Review 39:Bedroom was a bit on the small side could of used the hall way instead of it being wasted space

Review 40:Had the one bedroom apartment, we were left to our own devices. Quiet and peaceful location

Review 41:peaceful quiet location, excellent for exploring around loch ness, stayed in the apartment only for one night but all you could need was there should you require a longer stay. very good breakfast,Rory very pleasant and helpful host.

Review 42:Minor compliant was our rooms were a bit crampt once bedding set out for family of 3. For example, the exit door becomes blocked by the opened sofa bed.

Review 43:Everything was excellent for our family of 3 in general including useful modern included kitchenette. Near to lovely castle Urquhart.

Review 44:Bathroom was not en-suite (but across the corridor), which was not clearly marked at the time of booking and hence disappointing. For the high price we paid, I would expect A Private en-suite bathroom. Bathroom was smelly.

Review 45:Sunday 12th July Breakfast, poor undercooked bacon and egg, no smiles - so different on Monday with different staff and quality of cooking.

Review 46:Room comfortable, clean and spaceous

Review 47:The location was great and easy to find. The innkeepers were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed and the Wi-Fi had a better speed than the Marriott we has stayed at a few days before. The full Scottish breakfast was excellent. There are some good restaurants within walking distance. We went to one small hotel and the pub had excellent and authentic Scottish food.

Review 48:The facilities were excellent, with large twin bedroom and bathroom (and a fridge). Everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious and served by the charming host.

Review 49:No breakfast available on first morning. Compensation £11 which bought two coffees, two croissants and scone in local cafe. Also 3% charge on Visa payment.

Review 50:Good location. Great bar in local Hotel.

Review 51:- We had the lovely Iona room. The room is very big, cosy and has a view on the garden. - The host is very friendly. Because I fell ill, we were allowed to check-in 4 hours earlier. We were SO grateful! - Breakfast with a lot of choices! - The location is central but peaceful! - Good wifi connection!

Review 52:The coffee was too weak one morning - the only thing we could find ;) other than that everything was perfect

Review 53:waterkettle and tea/coffee in the room, very nice hosekeepers

Review 54:,

Review 55:There were nice touches such as shortbread biscuits, special tea. They also served us an excellent breakfast. It was a very nice area near the lochs with pubs and restaurants nearby.

Review 56:We liked everything.

Review 57:When visiting Loch Ness the place to stay is the Woodlands Guest House. The room we had for 2 adults and 1 child, 11 years old, was large, clean and the beds comfortable. The complimentary Wifi worked well and the breakfast was delicious. Rory the property owner is very nice and is ready to make your stay as restful as possible. Visitors center for Loch Ness is a stone throws away. Thank you Rory and we look forward to our next visit.

Review 58:Bed and pillows too firm for us.

Review 59:Waking up to the mountains and mist, great location to travel to Inverness and Isle of Skye...Loch Ness Cruise...great hiking as well. great restaurant just a walk away.

Review 60:Was difficult to check in due to no one was available at time of arrival. But this was negligible when comparing with the quality of the apartment and the upkeeping of it.we also understand we stayed in out of season.

Review 61:Stayed in apartment for only 1 night whilst travelling in the highlands. Apartment is in excellent condition, plenty of heat and good shower with hot water.the location is excellent.

Review 62:We loved this bed and breakfast. It was located near our destinations, the service was impeccable, the food was delicious, the rooms were clean and lovely, and it was quiet. The packed lunch we purchased for the next day was full of goodies and just right for our outings the next day. Excellent price and value.

Review 63:This was an excellent room with a sitting room and a sleeping area. The views from the windows to the surrounding hills with their covering of snow were wonderful. An excellent cooked breakfast was provided by our host. He was kind enough to allow us to leave our case after check out whilst we explored Urquhart Castle before our `bus to Inverness. We felt our double room was extraordinary value for £50.

Review 64:Using the stairs while carrying our luggage, but not a big problem.

Review 65:Excellent staff (they helped us with an earlier check-in as well), very good location, near the Urquhart Castle.

Review 66:We with our little daughter enjoyed quite comfortable two nights in this guest house. It's a very big flat with all very new facilities in bedroom, living room, bathroom and kitchen. Great thanks for householder Lisa's warm reception and so happy to play with her little baby.

Review 67:We stayed at the guesthouse for three nights and had the appartment withplenty of space and a nice kitchen. Walkway to Loch Ness is really nearby (Urquhart woods) and also other trails are easy to access (seewalkhighlands.co.uk). If you like do go for a nice dinner or just a beerI'd recommend the Loch Ness Inn (just a few minutes to walk). Thiswas really nice stay and we enjoyed our time there a lot.

Review 68:Stayed here for the loch ness marathon over the September weekend. With a 3 and a half year old our facilities were fabulous. Owners were very friendly and accommodation great value for money. Considering a return at a later date for longer to really enjoy the area and take more in.... Fabulous! Thank you :)

Review 69:Nothing!

Review 70:My elderly parents and I stayed in the apartment, which was clean and well-appointed. We appreciated being on the ground floor! The kitchen was very nicely stocked - we had everything we needed.

Review 71:Booked this last minute while on the road. We had a very welcoming stay and room was very comfortable and spacious. Owner made a very good restaurant recommendation which had it's own pick up service.

Review 72:Woodlands represented excellent value for money. It is a modern purpose built B&B facility with lovely big garden and ample parking space. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom modern and well fitted. The guest house is located within walking distance of Loch Ness. The breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and served by the host himself. We highly recommend Woodland Guest House.

Review 73:Nothing that I didn't like

Review 74:Amazing room, very comfortable. Given good recommendation on where it dine. Slept very well, breakfast was good. 5 star!!!

Review 75:Quality of bed, spotty WiFi access. Both of these issues were not a bad problem however.

Review 76:Quiet residential area with great access to hiking , castle, town and of course the Loch. Lisa was amazing and breakfast was very good.

Review 77:Not at all.

Review 78:It's value for money to have such nice and beautiful place to stay. Don't forget to have a nice seafood dinner at Loch Ness Inn restaurant.

Review 79:The couple who own the place were kind and helpful. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The room was beautifully clean with a very comfortable super king. Superb location and a really good breakfast.

Review 80:Very welcoming, lovely clean modern and comfortable room with everything we needed. Even a fridge which is unusual in the UK, perhaps because the owner is an Aussie :) lovely walks at the end if the road and s tranquil location.

Review 81:The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, and the hotel's location was perfect for visiting Urquhart Castle.

Review 82:Would have preferred an actual en-suite bathroom and a freshly "cooked to order" breakfast.

Review 83:Lovely quiet location. warm and helpful hosts, comfortable bed and red bush tea!

Review 84:Everything about this guest house was great. We spent 2 nights here. We had the Skye room, a family room, and it was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Woodlands was a 3 minute drive to food, Urqahart Castle and the Loch Ness Exhibition. Hosts Rory and Lisa were excellent and Rory enjoyed a chat. We very much recommend Woodlands Guest House to anyone wanting a quiet but close to attractions location to spend a few nights.

Review 85:Anything dislike me.

Review 86:From the bedroom to the typical scottish breakfast, everything was perfect. Remarkably clean and plenty of room for us. Great views from the dinning-room.

Review 87:No one in when we arrived, so we waited outside for a good 15 minutes till someone came. By then it started to rain. The daughter who gave us our key didn't show us the bathroom (which wasn't ensuite) or give us info on breakfast. She did however apologise later for having been distracted. The bathroom wasn't ensuite, but across the corridor, which I hadn't been aware of when booking. It was for our own use, but a bit of a pin in thenight when I needed the loo. Nowhere undercover to keep our bikes overnight.

Review 88:Spacious ground floor room, comfortable bed. Good breakfast professioanlly served.

Review 89:Only challenge was the WiFi reception in the apartment was nearly non-existent - I am sure it would be fine in the B&B

Review 90:Really clean and spacious, comfortable and well fitted out, with good living space and kitchen in the apartment. Welcoming hosts.

Review 91:Everything was OK!

Review 92:Staff very friendly and helpful. They recognized a wrong reservation (twin bedroom instead of double room) and they call us to ask if we want to change for free. Nice location close to lockness lake and castle, not far from Inverness. Strategic position close to the main road that connects north and south part of lake, even if the guest house is far from traffic and noise. New structure and beautiful garden, perfect place for relaxing!

Review 93:No toilets in the room

Review 94:Very near to Urquart Castle. Could be a good stopover if you are travelling from Speyside to Portree. If you are into whisky i would recommend to stop over Tain. So you can visit Glenmorangerie.

Review 95:I could not sleep half of the night and should move to living room. Unfortunately it was some noisy equipment behind the wall. I hoped it will stop in couple of hours, and did not want to go and complain, as it was a bit late. As a result I was sleepy all day and of course in a bad mood :) One more point: not sure about hotel rooms, but in appartments wi-fi does not work. I could catch it once for about 10 minutes, and only from one device (we had three of them).

Review 96:great location, nice and quite outside. Good size, well proportioned appartments for a small family or a couple.

Review 97:Lovely, quiet location. Just off the main road to Inverness and Skye. Spacious, comfortable and modern. Great, helpful, welcoming owners. Excellent breakfast. Good pub food for dinner nearby.

Review 98:Absolutely nothing.

Review 99:The room "Skye" was super clean and roomy. Defo value for money. Walk to Loch Ness through the forest takes 25 min so worth going. Serene and beautiful! They don't do dinner but free taxi service to & from the restaurant overlooking Loch Ness.

Review 100:Would have liked wi-fi but everything else was so good it made up for this.

Review 101:Really clean and comfortable. Had a comfortable night, great shower. Breakfast was self service with a good choice available and a well equipped kitchen. TV in bedroom and sitting area. Would stay again and would recommend.

Review 102:No gripes about Woodlands - we were pleased overall and would recommend it to other families looking for reasonably priced accommodation in the area.

Review 103:This small apartment, which forms part of the guest house accommodation, was ideal for our needs. It was compact but very clean and well laid out. A generous continental breakfast was made available for us in the fridge. The guest house owner, Rory, went out of his way to make us feel welcome.

Review 104:We spent there only one night, but we can 100% recommend it. The host is very kind and helpful, rooms are clean and comfortable. When we said that we need to leave early in the morning host prepared for us great takeaway breakfast. Short, but great time.

Review 105:We were made to feel by welcome by the owner (Rory) from the moment we arrived. With helpful advice on local restaurants and attractions in addition to the clean & comfortable rooms, we would definitely stay at the Woodlands guest house again. Vicki & Rob.....

Review 106:It was a warm atmosphere, with very helpful owners and nice rooms. It's a good base for exploring Loch Ness area and even for visiting Skye island as 1 day trip.

Review 107:Enjoyed our stay here. B&B is ideally located. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and most comfortable. Breakfast was ample and tasty. Hosts were warm and friendly.

Review 108:Nothing to dislike.

Review 109:Everything about it. The family which run this guest house were very friendly and helpful. The guide book that the owners had put together about the area and various activities was excellent.

Review 110:Like home from home. Very friendly, very clean and excellent breakfast

Review 111:Excellent accommodation, great location, friendly staff, very nice rooms, good WIFI, very clean.

Review 112:We like everything. The service is 5 star. You can feel like at home. Every morning fresh breakfast. Recomended for all.

Review 113:Very quiet village

Review 114:Lovely decor in bedrooms, fresh clean comfortable beds, spotlessly clean bathrooms, nice toiletries

Review 115:Location, Staff, Value, Room, Breakfast, Price

Review 116:Nothing

Review 117:Location and scenery. Good breakfast. Very clean.

Review 118:Shower pressure and hard to find. Not very engaging hosts

Review 119:Modern

Review 120:Had to 'pre-book' breakfast night before.

Review 121:Comfortable room

Review 122:The host was most helpful and we had a nice breakfast.
