Reviews for Hôtel Le Galion
Review 1:Our room overlooked the park and had a view of the ocean. Very comfortable, good value. The staff helped with information about the town and the best restaurants. Parking was free, right in front of the Hotel.
Review 2:Stayed for 2 nights in low season. We liked the huge bed, soft pillows, generous breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. Our dog stayed for free and enjoyed it as much as we did.
Review 3:Excellent location on the port but with a view out over the park. Breakfast was very good with nice pastries and as much coffee (or tea) as you might want. All rooms were spacious and with nice décor.
Review 4:Room was quite small and cluttered with the table and chairs. The internet service while good insisted on several log in sequences each day - is this really necessary? No bar facilities, no minibar in the room, no safe either.
Review 5:Hotel location was very good, easy access to St Martin and all the restaurants, bars etc. Very pleasant staff, nice welcome to the hotel.
Review 6:No air conditioning or the use of a fan. Breakfast was poor compared to Fence standards . We ended up going to a hotel round the corner were the breakfast was much fresher and no out of date yogurt. Croissants made today not from a long life pack. For the price it is very poor.Bath rooms are now looking very dated.
Review 7:Location , parking and cleanliness.
Review 8:The style of the reception area is a bit dated
Review 9:the location is beautiful, the rooms comfortable, personnel friendly, electric kettle and fresh tea every day
Review 10:Wonderful quiet location with views of the Atlantic just round the corner from all the action of the harbour and all the shops and restaurants so the best of both worlds. Lovely quirky hotel with very helpful friendly staff and very comfortable rooms.
Review 11:This a a lovely, quiet hotel in a superb location. The views are wonderful and the hotel is right by the restaurants of the harbour. The staff are lovely and can't do enough for you and everything is really clean and tidy.
Review 12:Breakfast rather expensive
Review 13:Lovely friendly staff made us very welcome and very informative when we asked anything. Good location great for exploring St. Martin and surrounding area.
Review 14:compared to the rooms at the front (which looked wonderful), those overlooking the patio were very small. Have had better breakfasts for the same price.
Review 15:location, helpful staff, dog friendly, stylish hotel, clean
Review 16:Too many extra charges - room 140 without breakfast so paying then extra for breakfast, parking, tax etc
Review 17:Nice rooms - nice view over sea from our room - easy to walk to local town - place to park car even if we had to pay additional 12 euros per day - staff friendly - very nice place to stay
Review 18:High prices compared to rest of France Too many cyclists!
Review 19:Located in Saint Martin de Re, this hotel is ideal for its proximity to the lovely harbour with all its restaurants and bars. We thought it was expensive for what you got - no free parking or breakfast included, but it is the Ile de Re, which tends to have higher prices than any where else in this part of France. We had stayed in chateaux for less!! Our room was fine - clean, functional but small, as was the bathroom. Breakfast was 11 Euros per person so we opted out of that and ate from the fabulous indoor market further along the harbour. We had booked private parking at 12 Euros per day but cancelled it when we got there when we found it was cheaper to pay at the machine. Plus the fact we were out for much of the day so it wasn't worth paying the price. Sounds like we were a couple of skinflints, but a road trip through France can mount up! Ile de Re beautiful but heaving, even in April. Lots of cyclists and motorists all over the place. We stayed two nights and saw everything.
Review 20:Nothing at all !!!
Review 21:Location was fantastic. Perfect for bike hire and access to the cycle routes. Room was amazing with incredible view of light house and harbour. very clean. excellent customer service and friendly reception staff.
Review 22:Towels were a bit spartan!
Review 23:The location, if you have a sea view, is lovely. It is close to all amenities of the town but also peaceful. It is very comfortable and attractive throughout.
Review 24:No tea or coffee facilities in bedroom
Review 25:Good quiet location but close enough to walk to restaurants and shops. Breakfast in room without extra cost. Super sea view from our second floor room. Super staff.
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:the staff were extremely nice.. the hotel has a very nice decoration (you cannot stop looking at the details in every corner). the room was big, confortable, and feels like home...so calm also. The breakfast sooo delicious, complete, fresh and you can take it in the lounge or the room or on the terrasse outside! the location is perfect! you can take a walk to the city center, the restaurants, see the boats, look at the sea!! we were supposed to stay one night but couldn't resist not to add at least one more night because it was a perfect experience
Review 28:A kettle in the room would have been good, but wasn't the end of the world.
Review 29:Beautiful old hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Clean, airy rooms with good bathroom and a bath - baths are good. Great location next to the park by the mouth of the harbour - window opened onto the park and the Atlantic. Saint Martin is the ideal base to explore the island on bike, by car or on foot, with fantastic food at Les Embruns, Le Serghi, Le Phare and Bleue de Balennes. Les Colonnes for morning coffee, plenty to see, and the Hotel de Galion was a great home from home - but cleaner than my home! Merci beaucoup madames! Also made friends with two French couples who stayed two doors down at the hotel, completely by chance. Top holiday :)
Review 30:The room was rather hot. It would have been nice to have the opportunity of a second cup of coffee at breakfast.
Review 31:The bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel was nicely decorated and maintained. It was good not to be charged extra for our dog to be with us
Review 32:There was no licence so you could not have an aperitif in your room prior to venturing out for dinner. No restaurant so you had to go out to eat.
Review 33:The beautiful view from our room. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff eager to make our stay a memorable one. It was a mere four minutes from the main harbour and all the bars and restaurants.
Review 34:A small fridge in the room would have been useful.
Review 35:The resident cat. Fabulous location. Every single member of staff, without exception, was friendly and professional. Generous breakfasts. Large bedrooms, comfortable beds, plenty of storage/hanging space. Good water pressure in shower/bath. Loo being separate to the bathroom. Safe bike storage.
Review 36:Staff are lovely. Breakfast very good value and the service efficient and friendly. This was our third visit and the position and sea view always impresses us. We hire bicycles, store them in the basement and set off from a very convenient point. We always recommend this hotel.
Review 37:Dated bathroom. Small room that would be challenging if staying longer than one night.
Review 38:Brilliant quiet location. Simple but clean and comfortable. Wonderful breakfast and coffee brought to one's room if desired. Very obliging staff and relative value for money given the location and high prices in St Martin.
Review 39:Tea & coffee facilities in the room doesn't feel like too much to ask for.
Review 40:Helpful and friendly staff in a great location that feels tucked away but is still literally around the corner from the main restaurants and shops. The grass/park area opposite the hotel was perfect for us as we had our dog with us. We were on the second floor with a sea view which was worth it to sit in bed in the morning and look out to sea.
Review 41:Would be nice to have tea-making facilities in the room. Wifi good but you needed to log in every time used
Review 42:Sea view, quiet location but very near port.Friendly staff, good breakfast.
Review 43:Parking is 15e per day if you don't reserve parking from hotel when it is 10e per day. It is still not that much if you think about it.
Review 44:Hotel was nice and it was in the centre near the harbour and restaurants, also the beach was near. Staff was helpful.
Review 45:Rooms were cool and bright - New England styling. Bathroom was modern and very clean. Bed was comfortable and there was everything you needed. Moments away from restaurants, shops, etc. Above all, views were great - over the rampart out to sea.
Review 46:No air conditioning - it was incredibly hot so unfortunately sleep was badly effected. Wi fi was very poor.
Review 47:Great location with very friendly helpful staff
Review 48:No bar in the 'hotel'
Review 49:Location very central - bars restaurants less than a 5 minute walk - no bar in hotel. We didn't avail of breakfast partly because it needed to be ordered the night before and also because there were lots of options nearby to try as we watched the world go by!!
Review 50:One room was overlooking the courtyard and the garage and could be very noisy in the mornings. However other room on the ground floor was much quieter and cooler.
Review 51:Very helpful staff at reception who recommended restaurants, places to see and we could store food in their fridges. Lovely Breakfast.

Review 127:Pretty confident that you won't find a better hotel for the price in St Martin de Re. Great accommodations with a beachy feel. Easy to check in and out. Right on the edge of the main square area - it's nice that it's not right in the middle of the action, but is only a 60 second walk away.
