Reviews for Meare Manor
Review 1:Large, well-equipped rooms, tasteful decor that gave it a slightly exotic appearance and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Sue and Graham (hosts) were attentive and helpful.
Review 2:The ONLY slightly negative thing I can say is, GET THERE BEFORE DARK! It's nestled on the outskirts of Glastonbury and there is ZERO light pollution. It was quite a trek on those back country roads but WELL worth it once we arrived!!
Review 3:The innkeeper Graham was beyond lovely! He was VERY accommodating with our late check-in as we came from London and got caught in traffic and pouring rain. The room was beautiful, breakfast was delicious and he accommodate our needs beyond expectations. Fantastic!
Review 4:Although the room was very good there were quite a few cobwebs around and longstanding dust on the ledges just above the beds. The duvet cover on the double bed was very skimpy.
Review 5:The room was extremely comfortable with a very nice bathroom and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was very good.
Review 6:In our room (cannot comment for the other rooms) the shower was very weak & the extractor fan didn't work but as we were only staying for 2 nights it wasn't too inconvenient.
Review 7:Breakfast was excellent. Room was clean & tidy. The hosts were very friendly & helpful.
Review 8:Nothing.
Review 9:I arrived quite late due to traffic, but was greeted very courteously, and the owner introduced himself by name, which was a nice touch. He showed me to my room and helped me with my luggage, which was appreciated.
Review 10:Everything, dirty, supper inedible, staff didn't know we were in the dining room. Filthy room with last guests trash still in the waste paper bin. Bed awful, couldn't wait to leave
Review 11:Really can't. Think of anything I liked, maybe the age of the exterior of the facade
Review 12:Booked at short notice but we're still warmly welcomed. Our room was very comfortable with a large bed. The ensuite was clean & tidy. Our only small niggle was that the hair dryer wasn't working which they did know about but didn't inform us. The breakfast was excellent.
Review 13:Would have preferred a downstairs room due to travelling with dogs.
Review 14:Excellent breakfast. Very good provision of shower gel & shampoo etc., in the en suite bathroom.
Review 15:The shower was a bit slow, bad water pressure
Review 16:Surroundings where beautiful, breakfast was amazing and good selection of got drinks to make in the room with biscuits
Review 17:Limited parking. We had to drive into Glastonbury to eat which wasn't far.
Review 18:Nice big rooms which were spotlessly clean. Terrific breakfast with lots of variety. Good value for the price.
Review 19:traffic noise from road outside went on till early hours plus other peoples noise travels through rooms we had the neighbours from hell in the room next to us shouting banging then turning tv on excessively loud before 7 am the next morning then more shouting and banging
Review 20:The only negative aspect of our stay was the selfish parking on the part of a few of the guests which meant that the space in the car parks could not be fully used. Perhaps some markers could help here.
Review 21:We appreciated the warm welcome we received and the friendly and helpful service. The room was very comfortable and provided with everything we needed. The breakfasts were varied and of good quality. Overall a most enjoyable stay.
Review 22:Friendly welcome. We had to leave early so the owners kindly left cereals and fruit in dining room with yoghurt, juice, milk and pastries in a small fridge especially for us.
Review 23:Don't try and walk to Glastonbury town from Meare - if we had asked the hotel's advice I'm sure they would have told us not to. There is no pathway and we had a frightening experience with two very aggressive dogs that got loose from their farm. We were rescued by a very kind local, who stopped to give us a lift.
Review 24:Lovely hotel, really nice people, great breakfast, great room with little balcony - excellent value for money!
Review 25:Only downside was the wifi was not always good. Apart from that no complaints.
Review 26:Wonderful hotel and as in a small village its was very peaceful. The staff were always happy to help. I loved it so much i extended my stay from 3 to 6 nights, then again to 9 nights. I would recommend Meare Manor to anyone looking for a relaxing break.
Review 27:Totally worth it! We even had a balcony with a ladder that could lead us directly to the garden on the ground floor! The view was great! So were the dishes!
Review 28:Room was warm, due to weather, and no air conditioning. Windows were opened. Close to the road, with some traffic noise.
Review 29:A convenient location for visiting Glastonbury Abbey. Friendly & helpful owners. Good breakfast menu and nicely prepared food.
Review 30:Nothing to do with thecestablishment, but if you want to take a taxi into Glsdtonbury, as we did it is very expensive for a short journey
Review 31:Very friendly owners, excellent breakfast, lovely quiet location Close to wildlife reserves and walks and a nice garden
Review 32:Would have liked a little background music in dining room, morning and evening
Review 33:Smoked haddock for breakfast! Perfectly cooked and accompanied by two perfectly poached eggs. Loved everything and received such a warm welcome from Sue and Graham. Highly recommend this place. Very convenient to Wells, but you need a car.
Review 34:Pillows to hard but that is just for me Hubby found them fine
Review 35:IT was a very enjoyable stay the owners were lovely and the room very clean and comfortable
Review 36:Useful stop over on route to Wiltshire. Very friendly & helpful staff. Although I did'nt need the disabled facilities. I noticed there was a lift used by many residents.
Review 37:Thin walls between rooms (you can hear the kettle boiling next door), parking wasn't always straight forward. I personally don't like bathtub showers. Toilet flush on the flimsy side.
Review 38:Nice hosts, comfortable beds, location, room size, breakfast choices.
Review 39:The room had a connecting door to the next room and thus we could hear the guests in the next room. Also as we were on the side of the hotel, in the extended part, the view out of the window was just the property next door. This was a shame as there is lovely countryside all around.
Review 40:The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Review 41:A bit dated, dusty old pot pouri etc. In dining room. Never a good combo. Great tasting breakfast though and good hospitality!
Review 42:A west view as far as the eye can see, a lovely balcony to sit and watch the sunset whilst Calves are suckling in the fields. So quiet and relaxing.
Review 43:The hotel staff were friendly and more than accommodating the breakfast was superb! Not a single thing to complain about the rooms are spacious and well fitted clean and very comfortable. We were there for Glastonbury taxis were around £20 to the festival gate. Thank you Robert & Jordan
Review 44:Nothing
Review 45:Pet friendly. Very accommodating. Excellent breakfast. We stayed in the room with the 4 post bed which was really spacious. Very clean. Very well maintained. Old furniture but in a good way, clean and we'll upholstered. 10 minutes from Glastonbury.
Review 46:As a long life traveller I have stayed in the best and the worst places and the Meare Manor is on the list of BEST. Such a beautiful manor. Clean spacious wonderful hosts. Breakfast was delicious . The proprietors made us so welcome and they were very accommodating. We are booking again to stay with them later in the year.
Review 47:It is a 19th century house in a good village location very close to nature reserves on the Somerset Levels and not far from Glastonbury. We had a large room with a lovely comfortable bed. The breakfast was tasty and the staff friendly and chatty.
Review 48:The hotel is in a good location for Glastonbury and the Ham Wall Reserve. The two owners of the hotel are welcoming and very helpful. The facilities are good and the room comfortable. The bar meal and breakfast were very good. I have visited twice in the last two months and both times have been very good value for money. I will be back.
Review 49:Getting there using satnav - travelled down the M5 and was directed off at the Burnham-on-Sea junction. Hit the lowlands and fell foul of closed and flooded roads. The main road (Juntion 23 on the M5) was fine but avoid the low-lying areas when it has been raining. Nothing wrong with the hotel - this was just bad luck.
Review 50:Far enough away from the town to be nice and quiet. Off-road parking. Nice selection of locally-brewed beers. Good selection at breakfast using locally-supplied produce. Hosts - very polite.
Review 51:Having to come home.
Review 52:Everything, great welcome from Graham .Lovely big room great bed lovely en-suite .Breakfast was very good, and the poached eggs nicely cooked.Nice choice of cereals yogurts white or brown bread. Good filter coffee.
Review 53:The shower was a very poor excuse for one - more a trickle than a shower. Also - to a somewhat lesser degree - we found the bed simply too big. We've never slept so far apart!!
Review 54:The breakfasts were simply excellent. There a good choice of cereals/fruit starters and there was a decent menu to choose from thereafter. A great start to the day!!!
Review 55:Not a single thing.
Review 56:The attention we were given was wonderful, we were treated better than in some Top Hotels. The owners are true people persons. Food very good indeed. Meare Manor is a comfortable place to stay. We will be going there again for sure. Pet friendly too.
Review 57:The manor was a lovely building. But interior was very much like a nursing home- the staff were very friendly- room was clean and tidy- very nice breakfast- a bit over priced for stay
Review 58:Outdoor garden and seating didn't feel like it was for guests to enjoy, but it was raining a lot anyway so we didn't plan on sitting in the garden much. A mini fridges in our room would of been a big bonus but the hosts were very helpful in letting us use there's just to keep our cheddar from cheddar in!
Review 59:Me and my boyfriend stayed over the Glastonbury extravaganza weekend on a wet weekend. Lovely breakfasts really enjoyed the smoked haddock. Good sized comfortable modern room. Friendly and helpful hosts and a nice building.
Review 60:Your review is too simplistic and does not offer every option. For example, I was actually travelling with family but no children. I put fair for location as you would certainly need a car because it is a few miles outside of Glastonbury. If you have a car, then I would put the location as good. Also, I'm sure my quality of sleep would have been better if I had been staying more than one night. I don't think you ever sleep well the first night in a new place.
Review 61:Staff very friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast.
Review 62:Shame about replacement windows in an old building.
Review 63:we just stayed one night, enroute to Glastonbury Festival. It's a nice hotel in a beautiful old building. Friendly staff, I would stay another day next time to be able to see more of the town

Review 75:A lovely place, warmly welcomed and nothing too much trouble.
Review 76:I liked the traditional English character of the manor itself as well as its owners. Very well spoken and mannered!
Review 77:It could do with a deep clean and a bit of an up date
Review 78:Lovely country hotel, warm and welcoming, the couple that run it were pleasant and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
Review 79:The rooms were a little dusty and cobwebs hanging of the ceiling. The hairdryer didn't work. The bedroom door rattled.
Review 80:friendly staff
