Reviews for Langdon Court Hotel And Restaurant
Review 1:Room up in the rafters was very cold and overpriced for the accommodation . I've no doubt other rooms are much better.
Review 2:Fantastic location and a brilliant restaurant
Review 3:Decor was tired and needs work. Wardrobe door wouldn't open so needed hangers for clothes which we dropped around the room.
Review 4:Excellent size room and food was fantastic.
Review 5:It's magical, un spoilt, a tranquil place, beautiful house with graceful charm. The Chef is amazing the food is sensational. The lady on reception was warm and friendly.
Review 6:everything is perfect, the hotel, the staff & the grounds. et in the countryside but only 10 minutes from the Barbican with it's restaurants and bars.
Review 7:Thought some areas looked a little tired.
Review 8:I thought the location was lovely, very beautiful garden and view of countryside from our bedroom. The food was absolutely amazing thanks to Jamie the head chef, don't think we have had a better meal in UK.
Review 9:Seemed understaffed, with staff trying to multitask, which resulted in delays checking in, getting drinks , and checking out. The hotel gives the impression of really being geared to the wedding venue market, rather than for non wedding hotel guest market. It did not have the comfortable country house ambience and in areas, including the bedroom, looked tired and in need of redecoration, and more attention is needed to detail and a little TLC. It has the potential to be so much better. Apart from a bar area, there was not a comfortable lounge area for hotel guests, and the restaurant seemed rather lack lustre. Overall we were disappointed, as we had heard good reports locally, but perhaps that is on its reputation for weddings.
Review 10:Lovely location and views, with a pretty garden area. An interesting old house
Review 11:Bed room old beds. No shower. a bath which l had to help my wife out. The towel rail was dangerous hot. how it got a 4star beats me. l was down for the funeral of my younger brother! thought l would have a bit of luxury, How wrong l was. (plus six hundred pounds lighter)
Review 12:The food was ok
Review 13:Very poor sound insulation between rooms. Mattress was pretty uncomfortable in our room but nice in others.
Review 14:First class food, beautiful building, very attentive staff and great location.
Review 15:Didn't live up to expectations. No ironing facilities in room although advertised. Only instant coffee. Kettle on v low table away from socket. Impractical. 1 bath towel and poor quality. No flannels. Bath and shower cubicle. Dirty carpets and exterior garden unkempt. No lift. Attention to detail needred.
Review 16:Excellent friendly staff. Olde Worlde charm.
Review 17:Only thing I would say was the lack of toiletries in the room!
Review 18:Beautiful building, friendly professional staff , amazing food , lovely comfortable room , clean, can not fault this place at all . Any issues we had, and they were minor, were sorted straight away! Didn't want to leave !
Review 19:Hotel needs to pay more attention to detail - I experienced dirty cup and glass on the breakfast table which was quickly replaced. Table for evening meal was not set with sufficient cutlery, and bill was incorrect.
Review 20:Sunday night deals excellent value for money. Room spacious with modern bathroom. Restaurant food high quality.
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:The Hotel was a very nicely renovated Country Estate with all of the old charm. The rooms were comfortable, although no A/C. But we also found out that 90% of British old Hotel have no A/C. The Restaurant had very good food at reasonable prices. The staff was very nice.
Review 23:Beautiful hotel and setting and fantastic staff. The bar, dining room and our room were all excellent quality. I will be going back next time I am in South Devon.
Review 24:This hotel is gorgeous, lovely setting for a week away and the perfect place for a Wedding. The staff are all friendly and really helpful and the food is AMAZING!
Review 25:slow breakfast service but otherwise everything was good and friendly
Review 26:We liked the ambience of the house and gardens. Beautiful & faithful decor. Grounds were spectacular and so close to the city centre
Review 27:The hotel was perfect, I couldn't fault it at all. The restaurant was picturesque overlooking the lake and the quality of the food was outstanding.
Review 28:Floodlight shone through blinds all night long. Disorganised breakfast as all staff prepping for a wedding. Room needing refurbishment, screw holes in wall, heated towel rail very dirty. Spoke to owner on check out about the floodlight problem, she didn't apologise about our lack of sleep.
Review 29:Lively original features. Moulton Brown toiletries.
Review 30:No table clothes for dinner! Wine on list, but not all there.
Review 31:Beautiful house and gardens in rural peaceful setting. Amazing food Very helpful staff,.Lovely bedroom Captures times gone by, in the nicest way possible.
Review 32:It was perfect, it was remote and so quiet, very restful. It was only a 20 min drive to central Plymouth where I was working. No mobile signal is a pain but free wifi means u can chat on Skype or Facebook and I liked the Fact that no one could call. Landline is provided in room. Lovely Molton Brown toiletries and massive rolling bath and separate power shower. Slept like a dream in the massive four poster bed. Lovely beach nearby. Food was amazing staff were very helpful. Will definitely stay again.
Review 33:There is no phone connection - but this can be perfect to really disconnect from everything else. I didn't really enjoy the bathroom, as it was a bit small.
Review 34:The hotel is really beautiful, it's just perfect to wake up surrounded by green, the whole atmosphere is quite relaxing! It's also perfect to have a drink outside. The food is delicious and really good value for money.
Review 35:Phone coverage, wifi was adequate.
Review 36:Staff, quality, service, setting, food was outstanding, wine selection. Special mention to Tim for his exceptional service and attention to detail.
Review 37:Cleanliness of rooms was poor, with a lack of attention to detail. Cleaners left our door unlocked.
Review 38:One particularly attentive and helpful staff member (Tim, if I recall correctly). Breakfast was very good.
Review 39:Fantastic food, every meal was a treat Comfortable pretty room, good size Amazing views and only 10 mins to beach Beautiful garden Well stocked bar Excellent service Friendly staff
Review 40:Nothing It is Perfect
Review 41:The restaurant is fantastic best partridge I have ever had!! The room and bathroom were huge and warm and comfortable. can not recommend it highly enough will stay there again.
Review 42:Boring picture (x2 of the same one!) in our room which detracted from the otherwise lovely decor. Bath towels too small.
Review 43:Comfortable hotel; great food and service. Lovely walk to the cliff path.
Review 44:There is no mobile phone signal or a lift.
Review 45:beautiful setting overlooking countryside, staff very accommodating. The evening meal in the restaurant was too die for, worth going back for the food alone. Large bathroom with a large walk in powerful shower and seperate deep bath. Comfortable bed with no noise or obtrusive light. Definately reccommend.
Review 46:Minor things. Shower in bath without curtain made it impossible to shower without soaking the place. Could do with some net curtains or frosted vinyl on the bathroom windows
Review 47:Member of reception staff on arrival was excellent/ very friendly and helpful. Lovely building in beautiful location. Room perfectly comfortable. The soft shell crab in tempura batter with wasabi mayonnaise was superb. If I had know it would be that good I would have ordered another as a main course. The food was fantastic. Might have been a one off but I will definitely be staying again to find out.
Review 48:Not being offered the bar menu as well as the restaurant menu in the evening
Review 49:Wonderful Rooms Good Food Location Fabulous walk to National Trust Cove
Review 50:Nothing. I did advise on booking that my husband needed a gluten free diet and this was not a problem. However, they were not always able to provide GF bread for breakfast which was a disappointment.
Review 51:It was a lovely hotel in a nice spot. As the hotel was quiet at the beginning of our stay our room was upgraded. This was an unexpected surprise and we had a very spacious and lovely room (32) overlooking the garden. The locality was very quiet and we were able to lay in bed and listen to the owls tweet twooing at night - delightful. The hotel was well maintained and nicely presented, the staff were young but helpful. The food was very good though the restaurant expensive. Ourselves and other guests opted to eat in the bar, but the menu was more limited, though still very good quality. We had a very relaxing stay and would happily return.
Review 52:Beautiful historic hotel with great views of the countryside just a few miles south of Plymouth. Delicious breakfast...and wonderful restaurant. We felt like royalty!
Review 53:Nasty smells upstairs. Couldn't identify what, not the same in different places. Children's room smelled of dettol. Very strange smell on landing. Damp on walls in our room
Review 54:Lovely location
Review 55:Breakfast was not quite as good as I was expecting. No full length mirror in bedroom.
Review 56:Beautiful property in a tranquil setting. Enjoyed a meal from the brasserie menu.
Review 57:May not suit the business traveller because there is neither wi-fi nor mobile phone signal.
Review 58:Beautiful country house, decorated with flair and good taste
Review 59:Absolutely stunning hotel in a beautiful location. The rooms, standard of decor, staff and food match the exterior. This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
Review 60:The lack of facilities like gym or spa treatments. Slight inattention to detail, like which glasses used joined up beds instead of a double. The attic shower was insubstantial in height.
Review 61:The staff dealt with any problems quickly and were always polite. The hotel and grounds were beautiful with a safe atmosphere. The complimentary, items, were a nice touch.
Review 62:It was very relaxed. staff were fabulous. The food is fabulous!

Review 97:Nothing to dislike
Review 98:The location
Review 99:Everything
Review 100:A little out of the way
Review 101:Food was lovely
Review 102:Nothing!!
Review 103:As usual we were looked after so well. Spotless comfy room. Food was sensational. Lovely grounds to sit out in and enjoy a drink. Short walk to Wembury Beach. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be going back.
Review 104:attic rooms are not fit for purpose, whilst the décor is tasteful the size of the ensuite bathroom is not acceptable
Review 105:Food is excellent and beautiful location, much closer to Plymouth that you would think
Review 106:We enjoyed everything there was not anything to dislike.
Review 107:The hotel was very comfortable but in keeping of its time - stain glass windows etc. The decor and bedding was very attractive in the room. The food was lovely especially the dessert at dinner. We shall certainly be back especially if they get the spa built!
Review 108:Our bedroom would have benefited from a larger radiator.
Review 109:The location of the hotel is lovely. The ambience is friendly and welcoming and the staff are very helpful, courteous and pleasant. The décor is tasteful and the rooms are very well presented. The food was excellent and well presented and the service was efficient and pleasantly formal.
Review 110:We had a perfect stay. There are no negatives with Langdon Court and its staff.
Review 111:We had a perfect Christmas stay. The friendly staff, the quality of customer service, the ecellent food and venue were the best. A credit to the owners. My daughters wedding was also held there last Christmas, they made the day perfect.
Review 112:It would have been nice to have a comfortable lounge to sit in after ourmeal in the bar. There were 4 easy chairs but they were already taken. The lounge is in reception and not as cosy as the bar.
Review 113:The receptionist was charming and efficient and also acted as waitressin the evening, with only one other person. They both managed to serveeveryone without appearing rushed while also answering the phone. Theview from our room was lovely, as were the gardens. The food wasabsolutely delicious.
Review 114:For a luxury hotel it was lacking in vital areas. For the price would at least expect robes, decent satellite tv with sports, a shower (roll top is nice but so would a luxurious shower be). Quite a bit of noise from adjacent rooms due to connecting doors (I was in 32). Bar only opened at 6 so couldn't get a drink and sit outside on arrival. Bed not very comfortable either. Size isn't everything!
Review 115:Building, food, staff, setting.
Review 116:Got both menu,s wrong but still good. Attention to detail - wrong room initially - shower fault - heating confusion.
Review 117:Food. Location. Gardens. Staff
Review 118:Bathroom too small with difficult to use sink over toilet. Unable to stand to shower so had to use the bath. This due to low ceiling. No hooks on door or walls to hang towel when in bathroom . Breakfast service was a bit slow and coffee weak .
Review 119:due to nature of visit . My sons graduation . Unable to really get dwelling for the hotel . Scab led eggs for breakfast were amazing .
Review 120:Musty smell in corridor on way up to the room . Room very hot even though had window open all night and a lower tog quilt for the summer months would have been preferable. Ladies toilets downstairs needed some work - damp and not overly pleasant. Carpet on stairs needed a good clean and felt housekeeping could be better overall - cobwebs in our room .
Review 121:staff very helpful and welcoming and made us feel at home, the location was lovely - peaceful and beautiful surrounding countryside and nearby coastal edge walk. Evening meal was excellent - very high standard - great food and obviously a great chef. The House lovely if a little tatty around the edges. Molton Brown products in room nice touch. Bed comfortable but quilt way too high tog for summer months - swealtered! Room very nicely decorated - colour scheme and fabrics used but felt it needed a freshen up. Breakfast good, I especially like the home made muesli - yummy. House itself and the garden lovely but did feel it all needed work doing to it - window frames in our bedroom were rotten but appreciate age of building would mean large sums of money to renovate.
Review 122:Very impressed with the friendliness of the staff and attentiveness of the service Quality of the food was also excellent and my room and the public rooms were immaculate
Review 123:that we didn't have the time to stay longer, as plymouth was only a stop-over on our way to cornwall
Review 124:the restaurant served the best food we've had in a very, very long time, including two-michelin-starred-restaurants: perfect and in itself a reason for a visit/stay!!! the absolutely beautiful jacobean house: it was like living in a museum! the peace and tranquility: very nice garden, quiet surroundings, beautiful landscape. the hotel is extremely good value for money: very large room + bathroom, nice décors, stunning views, excellent breakfast.
