Reviews for Admiral's Table by Marston's Inns

Review 1:On suite shower room was fine but WC was very cramped. Im only 5'7" and I struggled to use it. Anyone bigger would have a problem

Review 2:Overall very good value for money

Review 3:Only bad thing was the road noise. The room (No 2) had some kind of secondary glazing that wasn't very good at keeping the noise out as we were fairly close to the main road. apart from that nothing at all.

Review 4:Good value, good food, friendly staff.

Review 5:Location for walkers isn't great as on the A38 and difficult to get to in the dark - along a footpath beside the main road

Review 6:Friendly efficient staff; nice big room which was clean and comfortable and good meal which was excellent value for money

Review 7:Ordered a medium rare steak arrived well done

Review 8:Value for money Stayed in room 1 which ticked all the boxes Staff were very friendly a credit to the company

Review 9:Not in town centre.

Review 10:The hotel was a credible alternative to premier inn. It wasn't in a town centre position but it was easy to get to. The staff were really helpful. The food was better than premier inn food. I will use marstons pubs again.

Review 11:Slightly noisy, with been near a busy road, but could cope with that for just the two nights.

Review 12:Friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Had evening meal with four adults and two children, great value for money everyone enjoyed themselves. You really need to book the evening meal very busy.

Review 13:Excellent vfm - food great - rooms clean and equipped with the basics - bit chilly until request for ch to be turned on was immediately actioned - double glazing kept road noise moderated - would book again

Review 14:The location, even though it was very convenient for the motorway, was the only let down, as we overlooked the A road. However, we didn't really notice any traffic noise after the first night.

Review 15:Friendliness of the staff, lovely restaurant with good food and lively atmosphere. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean.

Review 16:Nothing other than if you choose to lie in the road outside gets a little noisy. but why would you?.. because you would miss breakfast!..served up to 9.00am..

Review 17:Location as a stopover from Plymouth to M/cr Facilities in the room.. nothing missing Rooms, Pub, and Dining in same building.. no getting wet!.. Great choice of food on offer and excellent freshly cooked breakfast

Review 18:Starters and desserts all seem to come from the micro-wave and aredelivered nuclear hot to the unsuspecting customer.

Review 19:Good value, but looking a little worn out

Review 20:Far too hot in the room and beds very uncomfortable. TV very limited. Cups were dirty.

Review 21:Nice size room and bathroom. Breakfast was nice and staff welcoming.

Review 22:The problem with the booking was that i requested a disabled room because i was in a cast after a recent operation on my foot. This request was not passed on so I didn't get a ground floor room as requested, hence the discount. They were very apologetic even though it wasn't their fault. I recommend any special requests to be phoned as notes are never sent on reservation emails & I was really not happy.

Review 23:The staff were very good & accommodation. There was a problem with my booking so I was given a 20% discount. Good food

Review 24:Staff on arrival were not at all welcoming . No smiles nothing , . Skinny woman who was in charge was horrible . We were in our welsh jerseys don't know if that had anything to do with it . Gentleman who was serving breakfast was lovely though but breakfast poor quality

Review 25:Restaurant looked good although never ate there as had awful welcome

Review 26:BATHROOM A LITTLE SMALL AND HAD TO SHOWER WITH DOOR OPEN AS FELT SHUT IN.....MATTRESS NOT TOO BAD BUT NOT GREAT

Review 27:LOVELY BIG ROOMS, NICELY FURNISHED....AND CLEAN. BREAKFAST GOOD, EVENING MENU LIMITED BUT GOOD. GOOD LOCATION AND LARGE CAR PARK

Review 28:En-suite needs changing. Sit on toilet and knees touch the wall. Shower cubicle too small for powerful shower and cubicle door hits sink. Bed needs more support as the mattress has sunk.

Review 29:Friendly staff. Good service. Good food. Large bedroom and very clean.

Review 30:My accommodation for myself and my son was to be paid in cash at £269.96 which you quoted. On departure I had to pay £279.80 as their computers were down. Please can I have a refund.

Review 31:Paper thin walls it feels like you are sleeping in the same room as everyone around you, breakfast quality was very poor unlike the meals

Review 32:Food was excellent value

Review 33:Majority of the staff were not very welcoming and when they sit around the bar at night discussing who was responsible for leaving a tab open and the loss of a sum of money not very professional.

Review 34:The room was clean WFI good.

Review 35:Steep stairs to the bedroom. Breakfast sausage was not to our liking - strange taste! Poor lighting in bedroom.

Review 36:The location was excellent for our needs, the accommodation was comfortable, and dinner and breakfast were excellent. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 37:Room near the road which was fairly noisy in the morning but this was a very minor detail.

Review 38:Location and friendly welcome. Pub food very good and breakfast top class.

Review 39:Cups in the room were filthy, hairdryer supplied in room didnt work and after a minute or two in the shower the shower tray would fill up and overflow. Also very noisy and the corridor we were in always stank of smoke and cooking.

Review 40:Situated a couple of minutes from the m5

Review 41:A very uncomfortable headboard. The worst scrambled egg that I've ever had, served with two portions of melted butter that had been placed on warm toast.

Review 42:The location, close to M5.

Review 43:on having an initial concern the manager stepped in and sorted it out, and offered a free drink which I declined as I thought his attention to detail was sufficient

Review 44:Cleanliness friendly staff and good breakfast I will strongly recommend to other people who visit the area on regular basis, much better than clinical premier inn and cheaper.

Review 45:The hotel reception is in the pub. Quite difficult to manoeuvre around the pub with bags and not end up dipping your luggage in people's puddings! Also, when busy there might be a little delay in checking in. These are not huge problems but worth knowing to check in without bags first and then retrieve from the car.

Review 46:Comfortable accommodation and peaceful nights sleep. Great location to M5 and stop off on the way down to the South West. Plenty to see in the local area.

Review 47:Nothing

Review 48:The food was excellent and so we're the staff. The room's were extremely well maintained and a nice comfortable bed the breakfast was as good

Review 49:I thought the overall service could have been better and particularly the friendliness of staff overall. Some great experiences and some pretty unimpressive interactions with staff.

Review 50:I liked the location, the rooms were very clean, excellent powerful shower, reasonably quiet, very good value for money.

Review 51:Located next to a busy road which made exiting the car-park tricky at times.

Review 52:Good value for money, nice clean modern and spacious family room. Staff were always friendly and helpful.

Review 53:We ate our dinner at the pub and it took an hour for the food to come. Breakfast was greasy and mushrooms not particularly fresh.

Review 54:The overall cleanliness of the rooms was very good.

Review 55:Unhelpful staff, poor service from the restaurant, the quality of thefood being served for breakfast, and the lack of any queries from thestaff in regards to the food being served or any attempt to see if youneeded anything else.

Review 56:Nothing to give a good opinion on.

Review 57:Greeted by the most miserable member of staff EVER! Made to feel like we'd really put her out by arriving and wanting to check in, lots of huffing and puffing. Member of staff at breakfast was the same, I asked if they did boiled eggs to be given a lecture on why not, I only asked a simple question. Scrambled eggs that arrived were revolting (and I promise I'm not all that fussy!) Breakfast selection on counter was poor.

Review 58:was just off the motorway

Review 59:Noise from people in the outside area under our window when trying to sleep. Hot room. Only one pillow per bed. Broken hair drier.

Review 60:Great to have instant wifi without having to put in a code. Clean room. Friendly manager

Review 61:Disappointed with the bar maid's lack of customer service, when I enquired at the bar on how long the wait for my evening meal would be, the response was " I haven't got a clue" . I usually sleep very heavily and through all noises but not here - this hotel sits along the busy A38 main road and traffic continued to thunder past throughout the night.

Review 62:Nice beer garden, clean room. Quick check in. Breakfast was excellent in both service and quality. Shower was great, it drowned out the noise of the traffic!

Review 63:Excellent clean comfortable room. Convenient location close to M5 and plenty of free parking. Stayed on a Sunday night so enjoyed a very tasty carvery at the restaurant for our evening meal. Breakfast was excellent, plentiful and not rushed. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 64:small double bed, which was very uncomfortable. Some traffic noise if the windows are left open at night.

Review 65:Good pub food, large room, good size and powerful shower, friendly staff. Good value

Review 66:I would have preferred a ground floor room as I have had back surgery and carrying luggage up and down tricky stairs isn't easy. The member of staff in the bar/checking in was quite aloof.

Review 67:Convenient location for my business meeting and plenty of parking. Generous sized room.

Review 68:Uncomfortable bed and a little bit of motorway noise.

Review 69:Near M5 motorway good stopover on way to cornwall. good car parking. Absolutely best breakfast that I can remember during a lifetinme of traveling.

Review 70:Hairdryer out of use in bedroom and fruit at breakfast poor when there is a lot in season, two apples and a pear.

Review 71:Staff very helpful and bedroom very clean.

Review 72:Only things down really was we booked room for 4 as a family but only tea etc for 2 was provided in room.asked for more and quickly rectified.

Review 73:Staff were fabulous.friendly and helpful.service was efficient and fast.compliments to chef.fab breakfast.room clean and comfortable.noise wasn't too bad from road and Windows were open.

Review 74:Although the board outside said a friendly welcome by "name" and "name", we certainly did not receive a friendly welcome. A girl serving behind the bar came to the "reception" - basically a screen at the end of the bar and just glanced at us. I said we were checking in and gave her my name. She produced a piece of paper which she then proceeded to mark with two croses, one for my car registration and the other for my signature, and pushed it back across the bar to me. Usually check in staff would say I just need your car registration and a signature. She didnt ask us if we had had a good journey, did we want to eat in the restaurant, did we need anything else? nothing ! she mumbled something about breakfast times, pointed us in the direction of the room (once Id asked her which way to go) and walked away. In the morning (which was a Sunday) we went down for breakfast at 9.30 (a reasonable time for Sunday) only to find it all being packed away. A waitress was cleaning tables but just looked at us and walked away. She didnt say, sorry we've stopped serving or anything. When we checked out the same waitress was there. I dont recall her asking if everything was ok but she did eventually say have a safe journey. The room was noisey but we expected that as we were close to the road and to be honest we were absolutely shattered so went to sleep quickly

Review 75:Good location for us as it was half way home. Food looked good but we didnt get a chance to sample it. Wonderful shower, very hot and powerful and nice touch to have shower gell and handwash in the room

Review 76:Restaurant needed a bit of a spring clean! Lots of old cobwebs hanging around!

Review 77:Warm and friendly welcome; easy swift check in. Onsite restaurant and bar!

Review 78:The room became very hot during the night even though the radiator was not on?

Review 79:Staff very nice and helpful, evening meal good value and tasty. nice breakfast .

Review 80:Room was a little noisy as it was adjacent to the beer garden.

Review 81:The hotel is located very close to the expressway. Free onsite parking was available. Room was very large, clean and comfortable. Wifi worked well. The breakfast/dinner were excellent as were the staff. An enjoyable stay.

Review 82:bigger bed would of been nice but was still comfortable

Review 83:The manager couldnt have been more helpful as our car broke down and we had to leave early, provided sandwiches to go and waived 2nd nights fee, great service

Review 84:Food-nachos has sweet sauce and served in cereal bowl cheese only incenter. Came early abruptly told check in 2pm. Some places will c ifroom cleaned. No pleasantry courtesy or even welcome smile. Receptionis at the bar. Husband and wife team do not smile or give warmwelcoming. At 2pm after waiting 2 1/2 hours was told guest droveaway with key and waited while other guests who just arrived in theircar were given rooms.we were pleasant and patient but it seemeddiscriminatory. No kleenex/tissue in room. Room carpet dirty . noair CONDITIONING.room faced highway so that is what u sleep too a noisymotorway culz u need to open windows in heat. Hot pot had rustycoils.waitress not attentive.can hear every door open and close.told wecouldn't do breakfast buffet but after watching other guests we gotsome jams for our toast

Review 85:Breakfast to order WiFi. Not worth writing the 2 sentences u require.Bed was comfortable

Review 86:Great 2 for 1 meals in the restaurant, we enjoyed an excellent carvery for £6.50 each.....that would be hard to beat. Great walk by the river...footpath just opposite the hotel.

Review 87:Bit run down, broken hairdryer, fire closure on door hanging off (room 11) .Reported to guy at reception but he couldn't have sounded less interested if he tried. Also if room next door used basin the water poured back through the trap in ours onto the floor !

Review 88:Good sized room, at rear of building so noise not an issue. Food good value

Review 89:The food - well, er, - some might like it that way, we didn't, for example: the corn was cooked until it was almost squishy. The ales compensated that somehow ;-)

Review 90:Friendly staff, big car park, soundproof windows (main road nearby), clean and big rooms

Review 91:Burnt chips but manageress insisted we had complimentary drink as apology after complaint, breakfast excellent though.

Review 92:Comfortable room, parking availability, food on site if required.

Review 93:Very noisy as by main busy road as near lots if industrial estates. No air con so bed windows open , Our bathroom so small only 1 inch from the toilet to the wall in front when using facilities, Bed pillows and sheets poor quality and camp bed very uncomfortable for children as age 11 and not supportive, hallways upstairs very hot as above main restaurant kitchen

Review 94:Great near to motorway, breakfast quick and tasty

Review 95:Wifi was very poor! Our bedroom was in front of a main, the noise at night was horrendous and my husband struggled to sleep. In the morning, it was clear the pubs floor had not been cleaned as I kept finding food on the floor from the night before.

Review 96:Breakfast was cooked fresh every day. The bed was comfy.

Review 97:Impossible to enter shower if you are larger than size 14! However, I understand that the rooms are to be refitted so could well be fine for us "Junoesque" females!

Review 98:The staff were terrific!

Review 99:We went down to breakfast at 8.45, breakfast was served until 9.00, the food had obviously been kept warm and was over cooked

Review 100:The meal we had in the evening was very good and great value. The room was lovely and comfortable and the price for the night's B&B was fantastic value.

Review 101:See above

Review 102:Staff very friendly. Good food. Excellent room. My only criticism was the road was so busy out the front and because weather was so warm we had to either put up with road noise or swelter. Not really the hotels fault.

Review 103:Problems with booking due to booking.com cancelling the wrong sized room. Hotel then couldn't accommodate us but could put extra bed in a room at an extra charge! Apparently we were not supposed to be able to book a family room for 4 people when the room was advertised as sleeping 4!

Review 104:Staff were stressed at first at the mishap. the lady manager tried her besy under the conditions. However, we did feel under attack like it was our fault from the staff here!

Review 105:i liked everything. the staff made us very welcome. meals were very good .very good selection of food at breakfast . and one thing I did notice we were next to a very busy main road ,and I must stress this, noise was at a minium. Well Done. ps. will be returning soon.

Review 106:We had a room overlooking the main road and it was noisy all night. Either you close both windows and suffocate (very warm as well) or leave them open and get no sleep.

Review 107:Really nice staff and a decent, clean room. Conveniently located for seeing Somerset.

Review 108:It would have been nice to have a bath

Review 109:The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and plenty big enough. The food was reasonably priced so good value. Plenty of free parking

Review 110:hot at night , had to sleep with open windows , a little noisy on the main road.

Review 111:Comfortable hotel , good food great position for motorway . Good base for seeing the surrounding areas ie Cheddar , Wells , Westo super mare etc.

Review 112:The walls needed to be a lot thicker to avoid my 6.15 wake up call from our 'neighbours'.

Review 113:Facilities were basic but functional and the staff were very accommodating and pleasant

Review 114:Evening meal was shocking. Don't bother if you're a Veggie. Make a sandwich or have some crisps or something.

Review 115:The room was very very nice...and yes on a main road, there's no big secret about this. A little road noise but not really noticeable.

Review 116:needs at least one comfortable chair in room also no comfortable sitting area to have a drink after or before sitting for food

Review 117:good size rooms kept clean

Review 118:Wi-fi was down, bed was hard. but didn't spoil our stay

Review 119:The atmosphere was relaxed, staff very friendly, excellent food great value evening meal 2 for 1, good position just of the M5.

Review 120:Bad service , rooms and beds awful , service really bad , wasn't ecen offered coffee , tea at breakfast , ordered toast and only 2 slices was brought out for 3 people .

Review 121:The WiFi l think needs up grading, we couldn't get it hardly at all.Jennifer Alicante Spain OlIts like an old English Pub Resturant

Review 122:It was in a good position for touring places,The staff were very sociable and very helpful, the breakfast was excellent and the Hotel was very attractive and clean,We will certainly come again Jenny Jack Spain

Review 123:we had gone to Somerset for a funeral and just picked this hotel. did not expect much for the price but enjoyed everything whilst there. we did not expect a wet room- food was lovely as well

Review 124:We booked as a family of 4 and on our booking, it stated we had 2 children as extra information. Our room was spacious and clean, however, only three beds were made up and we only had three towels. Reception were great and quickly bought up extra bedding for the sofa bed. Although they didn't bring us extra pillows. The following day, our room was cleaned and we weren't given any towels so again had to go down and ask. The food was great but, although the restaurant was very quiet, it took a very long time for our breakfast to arrive which was hard with young children and made us late for an appointment. The double bed had thin pillows and the mattress was quite thin and hard, my back hurt in the morning.

Review 125:The room was spacious and clean. I liked that we were given bottled water and our teas and coffees topped up every morning. Even though our meals took a long time to arrive, they were nice.

Review 126:Stairs to the rooms gave a problem But my own fault as I did not mention previously that I had a mobility problem

Review 127:Breakfasts were great and we had family &friends visit for both nights and have meals also very good.

Review 128:Miserable and unfriendly staff on check in. Same staff at bar. Too busy in restaurant and unable to book a table. Table unclean and sticky when able to get a table. Dirty cups in bedroom. Noisy room on busy main road.

Review 129:Large and airy, comfortable room.

Review 130:Did not think the hotel food was very good. It was edible but lacked flavour. The hotel was very busy with what was obvious very satisfied customers so this comment was my opinion and probably not others. But two for the price of one I suppose it was ok.

Review 131:Very friendly staff. Dealt with very professionally.

Review 132:We had a meal there in the evening which was excellent, however the staff were run off their feet the place was heaving with customers and the poor chap covering for the assistant manager did not have time to catch his breath, come on Marstons get some help in there!

Review 133:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room looked recently decorated lovely furnishings and accessories, bathroom and power shower fantastic

Review 134:Low energy light bulbs in room, very, very dim, made room dark & seeing in mirror difficult.

Review 135:Parking on site Full cooked breakfast, plus cereals, juices & yogurt, fast service.

Review 136:Breakfast was excellent!! Enjoyed evening meal beforehand and staff secured us a table on arrival.room was lovely and spacious.we required another quilt and it was no trouble to the staff. Great hotel/inn

Review 137:Lots of probs to name a few, under staffed, sewage smell in room, mouldy bathroom over heated room, broken iron

Review 138:Pub part ok decorated as you would expect

Review 139:The young girl on reception was very abrupt to the point of being rude. If you are in any way large, tall or rotund and get given room 14, don't even bother to look at it, the bathroom must have been designed by a demented midget!!! Luckily my partner and I are not above average (i.e. on the small side!) but I still had to sit on the loo sideways!!! and then it was a tight squeeze into the shower. No doubt because many people like us only stay the one night and put up with it. You will not believe how small it is 'till you see it!!!

Review 140:The room was large, the bed comfortable. I enjoyed the carvery and the full-English breakfast. The manager, Lee, worked his little cotton socks off and was very attentive on a very busy Saturday night. 99%of the other staff were very pleasant as well.
