Reviews for The Priory B&B

Review 1:Lovely big Bath that the water pressure may of taken a week to fill !!!

Review 2:Was a flying stay after a family wedding, great arrangements for a late late check in and off early in the morning Hope to return to take breath at a later date to see the area

Review 3:Having the breakfast in the room and not in a dining room was something we had not expected and my husband found it hard to accept.

Review 4:Interesting historic building, spacious bedroom with large, beautiful ensuite bathroom. The landlord was a very personable, interesting man who made us feel very welcome.

Review 5:Very comfortable bed and room. The owner offered to get us some fresh milk instead of UHT for our room. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that.

Review 6:No negative remarks.

Review 7:Friendliness. Comfort of the room and surroundings through the hotel. The breakfast served to the room, efficient and delicious. In summary, everything

Review 8:Water pressure from the shower very low which made showering a bit of a trial.

Review 9:Being in an historic building. Having a great breakfast in our room Sky TV Lovely decor Complimentary dressing gowns

Review 10:We found it difficult to get the TV to work. We found it difficult to access the WIFI.

Review 11:The room was comfortable and beautifully furnished. The breakfast was very good and well presented.

Review 12:Maybe a few small lights in the car park just to help getting in late at night. But not an issue more an idea

Review 13:I liked the location, and the setting/vibe of the accommodation. had a wonderful old world/almost gothic feel

Review 14:Nothing!

Review 15:Really unique and stunning property. Very clean, very comfortable with every little detail thought carefully about. Enjoyed a trip up to the turret to enjoy the view in the dark. Breakfast could not have been better

Review 16:We had to leave, eventually!

Review 17:The loved the historic atmosphere and 'exploring' the 13th century tower. The staff were friendly and helpful (thanks for all the tips on what to see). Breakfast was delicious and sustained us for all our castle climbing. We especially liked being close enough to Tavistock to enjoy its facilities yet far enough out of town to enjoy the peace and quiet at night.

Review 18:Staff were efficient but left us alone to do our own thing and the breakfast was excellent. When we encountered a problem with the TV they immediately sorted it. Most enjoyable stay!

Review 19:We didn't like having breakfast in our room, difficult to get attention from staff when needed.Staff smiled but said very little and didn't even say good bye when we left>

Review 20:The room was light and airy and warm at night.Bed was comfortable.

Review 21:Warm, welcoming, clean and comfortable...The four things needed after an 18 hour day and The Priory nailed it with a fabulous breakfast as the added bonus for us...Thank you! Would definitely recommend

Review 22:Nothing at all!!

Review 23:Loved that the pictures on website were a true likeness. Staff very friendly, truly an amazing place to stay. Highly recommend to anyone, money well spent.

Review 24:nothing...

Review 25:Location quite and remote, lovely local pub. Staff pleasant helpful and I will be going back. Simply a great option to the mundane hotel brands. Give it try.

Review 26:We were in the one bed house I found the owner became defensive when I told her about a couple of minor issues .. Even if the owner has no intention of changing things it is good customer relations to be polite and acknowledge what a guest is trying to tell you Also surprised to pay premium over the advertised price for credit card Jam and Cheese poor. In tiny plastic packages . Water for shower not very hot.

Review 27:Greeting on arrival good Quiet. Nicely decorated and presented rooms dressing gowns provided

Review 28:A little hidden within residential area

Review 29:As a start up business from scratch, this is very good. Breakfast in our room, large comfy sofa in room, great building.

Review 30:Nothing at all. Couldn't fault it.

Review 31:We loved everything about our stay! The building was amazing with wonderful features of the priory. The service was outstanding. The room was lovely. Breakfast was delicious!

Review 32:Credit card surcharge. Since one is compelled to use a credit card to secure booking, it seems bizarre to then be charged extra for using it to pay the bill especially when the 'Booking' website clearly states 'no booking or credit card charges'

Review 33:Quirky building. Really excellent staff. Lovely big room with sitting area. Sky sports TV.

Review 34:I thought when I booked this accommodation that it had a kitchen but it only had a sink and a small fridge no cooking facilities at all. The bed wasn't comfortable and the exterior of the place looked very uncared for.

Review 35:The owners were so very helpful and extremely pleasant.

Review 36:Water pressure wasn't brilliant but as that's the only very minor gripe we had then that speaks volumes.

Review 37:Warm and sincere welcome. Brilliant location. Beautiful building full of little touches with such attention to detail. Would definitely return.

Review 38:The building and staff were incredible.we shall definitely be back to stay! The room was exceptionally warming and welcoming with delightful amenities.

Review 39:We had a beautiful room but above breakfast prep area so was quite noisy from early on.

Review 40:Lovely big room with seating area. Very comfortable bed. Access to turret from landing for amazing views. Liked having breakfast in room.

Review 41:I was only at the Priory one night but had a fabulous experience. I used the Priory as a base to explore Dartmoor for the day. When I arrived at 11:15 the owner greeted me and I asked him about directions to Wistman's Wood. He promptly looked it up, gave me directions and a print out. The room was very big, including a large leather sectional. You have everything you need, including a robe! Breakfast was delicious and served in my room at the time I specified. Lovely staff, beautiful grounds and super comfortable.

Review 42:I wish they had a bigger fridge. The cheeses I bought just fitted. There was no room left to chill the bottle of wine that we took with us.

Review 43:There was no fridge in the room but the owners provided a mini fridge on request.

Review 44:Unusual because of the building's history which is a mixture of medieval and Victorian. Such a warm welcome from the owner. The room was large and had a very large en-suite attached.

Review 45:Fabulous old house, out of town centre location, and wonderfully quiet, the breakfast was fantastic, great portions and for Aime and Lynn nothing was to much trouble, a lovely run family business with great rooms

Review 46:Absolutely nothing to complain about

Review 47:The owners went out of their way to see that we had everything we needed & were happy to chat about the fabulous building with all its history. Our bedroom was beautiful, overlooking the garden, and was huge. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on. All the facilities were of good standard & everything worked! Having breakfast served in your room is novel; we felt like royalty though. I would definitely book this property again. Thank you to the Willoughby family.

Review 48:The water pressure in the shower isn't great.

Review 49:pretty much everything. Location was great, the rooms are lovely, bed really comfortable and fantastic breakfast served in your room. The owners are also really friendly

Review 50:a little too far out of town to be ideal but thats being very, very, very picky!

Review 51:It's an unusual but lovely property in a quiet location. Breakfast in the room is novel and makes the stay a lot easier and more enjoyable.

Review 52:I have stayed in some places in the area over the years and this was the best ever. I did miss not having a bar to go down and going out for an evening meal but-it is B&B only

Review 53:Cold water when running the bath. Tried to have a bath a couple of times and both times the water went cold early on so couldn't fill bath up properly :( Didn't like the full english. Didn't like breakfast served in the room. Made the room smell and the food was stone cold by the time it got to us.

Review 54:absolutely beautiful place, very friendly, nice pussycat. overall a great stay

Review 55:Finding out that we'd have to pay a surcharge on top if a debit or credit card was used! Either give prior warning of how payment could be made or incorporate the surcharge in the cost of the room

Review 56:It was a different experience to be served breakfast in our room - it made it more leisurely.

Review 57:Good sized room and ensuite with all usual facilities. Great also having breakfast delivered to the room. Very pleasant owners/staff. Nothing too much trouble.

Review 58:The Priory is a lovely B&B on the edge of Tavistock. The owners are very friendly. Rooms 1 and 3 are enormous (we didn't see room 2 so can't comment on it). Breakfast (a feast) is served in your room - a nice touch. Aimi booked a table at the local pub, The Whitchurch Inn, for us to have dinner - well worth a visit.

Review 59:The location is very close to Dartmoor, which is what we wanted. The room was big, had a sofa, SKY HD no less. Internet connection was solid, My GF did some work because the internet was so good. Lovely people running this B&B. Breakfast was delivered to your door and on time which was really nice. We would defo stay again.

Review 60:Couldn't get wifi to work, but fortunatelyb didn't matter too much. We went to a great pub (whitchurch inn) for dinner because no restaurant at the priory.

Review 61:Breakfast was nice and lovely characterful building

Review 62:Shower pressure a bit low.

Review 63:Lovely comfortable room with fresh bottled water and tea facilities - comfortable bed and nice decor, bathroom pleasant and breakfast in room just bliss - esp in the courtesy bathrobes - highly recommended and great location for the moor.

Review 64:It is a beautiful building and the owners make you so welcome. The rooms are beautiful with no expense spared and the breakfast was huge. You will not need any lunch after them.

Review 65:Just being picky, but no electric shaver socket and no plug for sink to wet shave either! Quite noisy from owners talking loudly early in the morning

Review 66:Large room with comfortable bed.excellent breakfast served in the room.full use of sky including sky movies, excellent value

Review 67:Time went by too quickly!!

Review 68:Beautiful historic building with 14th Century turret to climb via spiral staircase. Few minutes walk to village pub for great evening food. Loved fab breakfast, served in room. Soft cosy robes to help us chill! Super location to explore glorious Dartmoor either side of our one night stay. All staff v kind. Will do it again!!

Review 69:Only one fault. The matress was uncomfortable. If it wasn't for that I'd say it's 100%

Review 70:Lovely,peaceful,and excellent service. Good staff, great breakfast.

Review 71:Everything. Location, staff, style of place, space, on-suite bathroom, size of bed, facilities. Room service. Breakfast options. Friendliness, information given. Views and peacefulness.

Review 72:There wasn't a non-slip rubber mat for the bath/shower and the shower was not easy to regulate (hot water). The temperature in the bathroom was as warm as we would have expected.

Review 73:Almost everything. Excellent service.

Review 74:quality of breakfast... needs to improve. Could use robes. need to have champagne glasses and cooler buckets.

Review 75:greeting was exceptional, felt so at home. really beautiful. breakfast in the room a real treat. local pub excellent.

Review 76:There was nothing to not like.

Review 77:The building was lovely Staff very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was fantastic, loved having it in our own room which was huge. Would defintitley go again if visiting Tavistock and the walk into town is 15-20 mins.

Review 78:We loved the entire time we spent there. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room was absolutely perfect the entire place was beautiful. We could not fault a thing! We shall be going back for repeated visits it was that fantastic.

Review 79:It was just a bit strange to have breakfast in one's bedroom. A tasty breakfast it has to be said but you have to decide what you want the night before…not like a hotel where there are more options in the morning!

Review 80:I liked the size of the room and the size of the bed. Nicely furnished and a very good tv with Sky options once we'd all worked out how to turn it on!

Review 81:Minor point - shower could do with a bit of a boost.

Review 86:Compared to competitor's prices the Priory offers outstanding accommodation. The building is BEAUTIFUL - I loved the gothic architecture and sense of history. The room was also very spacious, clean and comfortable

Review 87:Hidden away from centre although does suit the property a bit far for our needs.

Review 88:Lovely old building keeping its period features with clean modern rooms. Great service the staff even brought a continental breakfast to our room as we had to leave before breakfast times.

Review 89:I cannot think of anything. You get, and more, what you pay for.

Review 90:The staff were very friendly and helpfull. The breakfast served in your room was a plus. Go for the largest breakfast. Key arrangements were easy. The rooms are larger than average and the beds are comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities were well stocked. I will come again. Very good value for money.
