Reviews for Kilmichael House B&B

Review 1:We enjoyed our stay, Charlotte the host was lovely and welcoming. She provided us with excellent local information, room was very large and very comfortable, much appreciated gesture to upgrade us. No comment on breakfast as we did not include this in our stay. I would recommend staying at this B&B.

Review 2:I liked the friendly and relaxed atmosphere as well as the accomodation which was excellent and the views from the bedrooms were stunning. We were given a free upgrade on one of the rooms as we booked the annex but charlotte (owner) gave us the superking room instead. Charlotte was very pleasant and gave us some sight seeing ideas. The accomodation felt like home and we was able to come and go with a key to bedroom and front door which was convieniant. The B and B was close to loch ness which was stunning especially in the morning. We really enjoyed our time in Scotland and will definatly visit again :)

Review 3:The hotel is in a lovely position near Loch Ness. We booked a room only with shared facilities but were upgraded to en suite and were given a continental breakfast. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again!

Review 4:a bit difficult to find, beacuse we trustet our navigation system :P you have to look at the map ofthe booking confirmation. if you print your booking.com confirmation ther'es a map on it, use it.

Review 5:vey kind and generous host. big and clean room. great breakfast.

Review 6:Bit hard to get around without a car.

Review 7:Very friendly lady and a lovely room. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. Loved that we got biscuit refills along with the tea/coffee/milk. Lovely scenery too.

Review 8:Very dusty room and the room did not smell very nice. I Kept sneezing ! The Rude owner kept asking questions. We felt uncomfortable staying here. Not friendly at all.

Review 9:The owner seemed a little inflexible; seemed like she could do with some help to run the place maybe? We missed the fact that this was only for continental breakfast too.........

Review 10:The room was sumptuous! Everything you needed, big comfy bed, tea n coffee including flavored teas, nice biscuits. Bathroom fine, everything you needed with nice Nivea products to utilize.

Review 11:Took my wife here for our anniversary. Assumed breakfast was included in the price as it is called a bed and breakfast and it did say there was a continental breakfast, But after arriving was told we had booked room only. Lovely place just make sure you factor in the price for breakfast. I was not very happy about this as I had booked in advance and people off the street could get this same room for ten pounds cheaper.

Review 12:beautiful place.

Review 13:Owner wasn't around when we left, but turned up as soon as we called. Not really an issue!

Review 14:Perfect hotel, great hosting, huge bed, better than expected facilities (nespresso!).

Review 15:The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, which is uncommon for B&Bs. We got to watch a lovely sunset and it was perfectly close to food and shops!

Review 16:The toilet for the room we booked was not en-suite. This was somewhat uncomfortable. Cobwebs in the corners of the room. We didn't have access to a shower, only a bath tub. In all fairness, this was included in the listing.

Review 17:Host was helpful and friendly. Good breakfast. Nice location for running the Loch Ness Marathon.

Review 18:The breakfast was a continental breakfast which I felt could have had a bit better selection but the host made us feel a wee bit uncomfortable with her obsessive cleaning up behind us the minute a crumb fell.

Review 19:Location was good, room comfortable and clean.Hosts were willing to arrange a ride to restaurant and back home which was great as we were tired from driving and welcome the opportunity to be able to Have a few "drams" with supper

Review 20:Well, the owner is nice but ... She a bit too picky. Seem like she is watching us all the time. But everything is fine.

Review 21:The place is really nice. Location is great but its not in Inverness. But if you drive and looking for a nice place, i recommend this one. It on the road to Inverness and easy to go anywhere.

Review 22:Only improvement would be to offer a cooked breakfast but the continental breakfast was nice (cereals, fruit, yoghurt & toast etc) & there was plenty on offer.

Review 23:Excellent location close to Drumnadrochit village & Urquhart Castle. Owner booked us a reservation at the local Fiddlers Restaurant for our evening meal which is reccomended as they are often full.

Review 24:Lovely room, comfortable bed, very clean, helpful hostess, nice little extras (including a bar of chocolate!). En suite bath was lovely for 2 tired walkers.

Review 25:It would have been interesting also to try the typical scottish breakfast.

Review 26:Very nice B&B, nice location and lovely people!! Generous continental breakfast. Toasts were soooo good!!

Review 27:We just slept there with no breakfast. The room was big and bathroom ok. At the near Drumnadrochit Hotel we had a good dinner and a local live music show.

Review 28:Don't be to late at arrival time - which is 7 pm! The staffs won't contact you and react incomprehensible unfriendly. It was our worst welcome ever in a guest house, I have to admit.

Review 29:Our room was very comfortable and had every thing you need to staying there one night, plus tea, coffee and cakes. There were to small, but fine car parks which was enough. The green surrounding was wonderful and the closeness to Loch Ness is very practical.

Review 30:+ Charlotte was a wonderful & warm hostess, view out of our window was gorgeous, located within walking distance of town, beautiful redwoods out front

Review 31:Nothing really.

Review 32:Good location to for Drumnadrochit, Loch Ness exhibition centre etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lovely big room, nice and quiet.

Review 33:"The Cloud" public internet access is not good enough. Check in for b&b house is available only between 4pm-7pm. If you get later, you will potentially sleep in your car. Pay attention that final payment is accepted in cash only.

Review 34:Renovated and very clean house. Nescafe coffee machine in the bedrooms. Very good furniture and very comfortable bed.

Review 35:Nothing...it was perfect.

Review 36:Charlotte was a perfect host, with lots of relevant local knowledge, accompanied with a particularly and able assistant. First Class!

Review 37:Nothing was bad about our stay

Review 38:Charlotte was a wondeful host, and is very attentive to her guests needs. The rooms and house were immaculate and had great facilities. The beds were also very very comfortable.

Review 39:Everything was perfect! There was some mix up with our booking, so for the first night we stayed in a room without en suite, but to compensate for that we were treated with a free breakfast and for the rest of our stay we had better and bigger room that we paid for. Both rooms were very nice and comfortable, but obviously second one was much better - spacious, with coffee maker and enormously huge bed. Breakfast was delicious and plenty, all products were very high quaity. We didn't order it for the rest of our stay only because we are a sleepy-heads we would rather not be up before 10 or 11. House itself is beautiful and we had very nice view from our room. Charlotte, our host, was exceptionally nice and we deeply regret that we had to leave. If we ever return to Scotland, we will be staying there.

Review 40:I stayed with three adult family members (this wasn't an option on the form), and the four of us shared two rooms. We were comfortable and extremely well-fed, and Charlotte gave us some tips that really made our experience special.

Review 41:Bed was two twins joined together so the hump in the middle (where the gap was padded) made sleeping next to the SO awkward. Continental breakfast was overprices, so got breakfast in town.

Review 42:Beautiful lodgings, en suite room, very adequate wifi and tv, walking distance to pub, gracious and pleasant hostess.

Review 43:The house is well kept. Room is big, bright and quiet, toilet is very very clean. Host Charlotte is sincere and warm, with motherly love. Outside the room can see a pasture with few cows, a very beautiful scenery

Review 44:Charlotte was an exceptionally nice woman who looked after us thoroughly! The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. Excellent facilities and secure parking too!

Review 45:No shampoo in shower!!! Would have liked to have the choice of a cooked breakfast. no credit card facility

Review 46:Excellent room and friendly proprietor. Cleanliness Nice continental breakfast

Review 47:- The room was very cosy and had big windows with a lovely view (on meadow with cows). - The host is very friendly and helpfull. - We were very pleased with the breakfast! Finally some fresh (!) fruit salad and different types of muesli! - The location is perfect! - We will be back ;)

Review 48:Wi Fi a little slow but the area was very remote

Review 49:The owner was very nice and the other travelers were very nice. Very comfortable in a family type setting

Review 50:Great welcome from Charlotte, very clear, great room, brilliant shower, plenty of parking space. 100% recommend. (Do book at Fiddler's, for evening meal it is very busy!!)

Review 51:Charlotte is not the typical B&B owner.. she has many rules and comes off slightly abrasive. Although helpful at the time, soon after we left I had numerous missed calls, angry voicemails, and a message on booking accusing us of not paying. I called her back as soon as possible, reminding her that we had in fact paid the evening before (we handed her the cash in person!) and the problem was resolved. I understand having a temporary mixup, but the way Charlotte handled the issue was completely unprofessional and frankly quite rude. Despite the place being nice, we would not return again due to the lack of warmth and hospitality we expect at a b&b.

Review 52:We stayed in the annex and had a lovely room, and found it a nice place to stay near loch ness.

Review 53:A b&b is meant to be hospitable. This one had so many rules that we did not feel welcome.

Review 54:It was good to be able to walk into the village of Drumnadrochit. We really felt we were in the country looking out the window at sheep and cattle.

Review 55:For the some value elsewhere, you can get breakfast or at least have the chance to eat your own breakfast in your room, unfortunately not here. Strictly no food in the room.

Review 56:It is well situated, close to Loch Ness and towards Glen Affric. The place itself is very clean.

Review 57:A bath would have been nice, but that's just us :-)

Review 58:We loved the location, the room and the view over the huge sequoia trees. The lady of the B&B was very, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also very good.

Review 59:Charlotte was very welcoming and helpful. It's walking distance from Urquhart Castle and the Exhibition Centres, with some great nearby restaurants (Pibroch was my favorite).

Review 60:There was nothing that we didn't like about this stay and location.

Review 61:Charlotte was very welcoming and pleasant. Only reason we did not have breakfast was because I do not like continental breakfasts and this is what Charlotte put on. The room was very spacious and comfortable with our own en suite. Even supplied shower gel and hand wash to get washed with and lovely soft towels. We would certainly stay at Charlotte's again.

Review 62:Breakfast was Nice though was Just a basic continental at a surcharge, where most places we have stayed have a full cooked Scottish breakfast included.

Review 63:We were upgraded due to a cancellation to a nicer room which was lovely. Room was very nice and a great location. Owner gave some. Great advice for our driving around scotland seen some lovely sites we would have missed. Good value for money would reccomend.

Review 64:Our stay at the Kilmichael B&B was a lovely experience. Charlotte is a wonderful host who is friendly and accommodating. She was willing to help with any questions we had and if you are planning a trip to the Isle of Skye, forget your GPS and ask Charlotte. The room was sunny and clean and looked out over green fields and into the highlands. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Kilmichael to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Review 65:General attitude of the house lady, Wasn't welcoming. No answer when we tried to call her letting know our arrival time. She started verbally attacking our cab driver, than told us not to enter with food (thats our fault, does say no food on premises on the fine print) When we told we are tired, asked where we came from we said Edinburgh she said "only?". Then asked if we live there we said we're from West Sussex she said "You don't sound like an Englishman". She was generally rude and harsh. After all ,we had our food looked after by her, she was giving it back nxt morning leaving it on the entrance room. In the morning we looked for her,but srictly after our leaving she shown up at her doorstep shouting after us if we are leaving. The property is nice. And it was very tranquil having our dinner eaten by a bridge in rain... Definitely not recommended.

Review 66:The room was lovely and incredibly clean with a wonderful super king sized bed. It was incredibly quiet and a very short walk into the village. There are also some really great walks very close to the village that we really enjoyed! Definitely recommend!

Review 67:I really can't say anything negative about this, everything was just perfect.

Review 68:Kilmichael House B&B was the first pit-stop of our week-long roadtrip in the Highlands and it was. Just. So. Bloody. GORGEOUS in every single way! The house and the rooms were like from a postcard, everything was so clean and nice and the bed was so cozy we slept like a baby. The host Charlotte was just the most friendly person we have ever met. She made us breakfast which was also so good and tasty, she even asked us what sort of breakfast we would like to have. Too bad we stayed there only for two nights.

Review 69:Simply awesome! The place is very cosy, quiet, nicely decorated and very clean! I thought that it was recently refurbished but the owner said that it's just their high hygiene standards. I was asked to take off my boots before entering the building, the place is so clean that I had no issues with walking around just wearing my socks. Bathroom was as clean as the rest of the place. The room was nice and very well heated. There is a free wifi and it is of good quality. The continental breakfast was very simple, but I left dining room full. But the best thing about the place is the owner herself. She was very helpful and nice during my entire stay. I had lots of bad luck during my trip and could not take a cruise on Loch Ness as planned. The owner offered a help with solving my problems. She booked me a cruise going from a place that was 5km away, and then she personally drove me to that place. I don't know what I would do without her help. Absolutely outstanding service.

Review 70:There's nothing not to like! Genuinely one of the best and I usually pre-book a hotel in a location but after this experience I would rather stay at this bed and breakfast when next in the area.

Review 71:Customer value, the whole stay was bliss and we couldn't of been looked after anymore! Our room was lovely and warm, immaculate, decor modern and very Scottish and welcoming, and the bed....heaven! From a good nights sleep to waking up to a very tasty continental breakfast and a lovely friendly woman, it was a very pleasant stay and we can't wait to stay again for a longer period of time!

Review 72:Charlotte made us very comfortable and was full of great advice on attractions and directions. She even made us a special breakfast before our long drive home. The house is lovely and clean and the bed was beyond comfortable! A little inconvinent that there was no smoking allowed outside and no food allowed in the house but it wouldn't stop me thinking twice about staying again.

Review 73:We spent a night at this b&b whilst traveling through the area, very warm and welcoming! Breakfast was excellent, room very comfortable - we will definitely be back!

Review 74:The owner was very helpful, gave advices for visiting places. Hotel was home style, very cosy, with fresh flowers and coffe mashine in it. Thank You one more time :)

Review 75:The owner contacted me before my arrival with a welcome email and with directions. She was very friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Good location too.

Review 76:Perfect welcoming from the owner, she was lovely and very helpful! The room was clean and comfortable. We arrived in the dark so it was amazing to wake up to the beautiful views. Excellent value for money and I have no doubts we will be visiting again :)

Review 77:At the door we where welcomed warmly by the hostess. The room was fabulous, huge and very clean with everything required including fully equipped en suite and wifi. Breakfast was lovely. We where given directions to local attractions and places nearby to visit which was very helpful. We will definitely be coming back :)

Review 78:Everything! When we arrived, with so much cold outside, this house seemed an oasis to us. Very cozy, warm, clean and with a welcome so warm such we were arriving to our grandmother home (which is everyone's favourite place). The owner had spent a lot of time talking with us and gave us precious tips about our trip.

Review 79:I happened upon the booking.com listing for Kilmichael House while looking for accommodation options for a short hiking trip that I was planning with a friend visiting from the US. The B&B is in a beautiful location only a few minutes' walk from Drumnadrochit and within walking distance of many beautiful locations, including the Loch and Urquhart Castle. Despite being incredibly cheap (cheaper than a hostel in the off season), Kilmichael House features beautifully kept and decorated rooms with comfortable beds and every amenity I could have asked for. Charlotte, the owner, is incredibly sweet and went well out of her way to make sure that we were happy. I will definitely recommend Kilmichael House to my friends and plan on returning with my family later this year.

Review 80:Nothing !

Review 81:Everything is perfect ! Thanks to Charlotte, we envoyed at 101% our trip in Scotland ! The house is very clean, very quiet, very cosy, what a view ! (hills and nature), ideally located at 2min from the Loch Ness, we have had a fantastic breakfast and even gifts at the end ! Thank you so much ! :)

Review 82:There was nothing that we did not like about our stay.

Review 83:We thought the property was absolutely beautiful and the owner was just lovely. She was friendly and gave us great dinner advice for local pubs. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean, and just what we needed after traveling. Loved it!

Review 84:Comfortable accommodation in an annexe to the main house. Although weather cold, room very warm. Charlotte was so helpful and even gave us a choice of rooms. Excellent wifi connection! Enjoyed our short stay.

Review 85:The bed in the economy double room in the annex is small.

Review 86:It's suh a lovely place. Very nice location, next to the nature and stil close to the shops and restaurants. We had the economy room in annex, which was without breakfast, but in the room we had tea, coffee and an electric kettle. We were there only for one night, but it was a very pleasant experience. The lady was also very nice, we had a lovely chat in the morning.

Review 87:Check in is only until 7PM, so you should call previously if you will arrive later than this. The lady will then tell that you should arrive asap, but she waited for us and was very nice when we arrived around 9PM. No wifi on the room, but good connection on the lounge and breakfast room.

Review 88:Cleanness of the room and facilities, really close to the lake, very good continental breakfast, I would return again without thinking.

Review 89:We stayed in the annexe which was superb. Large flat screen TV, DVDs to choose from , large room with large, powerful shower. We didn't have breakfast provided but was left a little packed lunch for free. Would stay here again

Review 90:It was one of our best nights on our Scotland tour and we really felt at home there. The host was very nice, the room was lovely and big with a big and beautiful bathroom. The old trees in front of the house are gorgeous! We could take some dvds to watch. There was no breakfast so our host gave us goodie bags each day with food. I would have loved to stay longer than just 2 nights!

Review 91:Quiet and comfortable room with a generous host, the room came with free snacks, coffee and fruits that were hard to come by. We highly recommend this place to all.

Review 92:The B&B was a stop over for one night before staying in a cottage in the same area. It was in a great location and Lady running the B&B was friendly and helpful. Booking us into the local restaurant for dinner. The room was comfy, good shower and clean. we did not take the breakfast option with booking. Will definitely stay again and recommend.

Review 93:Leaving so early to catch ferry.

Review 94:Charlotte was very helpful. When we arrived late she got us a reservation at a local pub for food. Very friendly and recommend highly. Great room with en suite and a cracking coffee machine.

Review 95:No wifi in room although the lounge was very comfy with wifi.

Review 96:Newly renovated, modern room; Friendly owner provided nice treats. We highly recommend this location, close to Urquhart Castle.

Review 97:nothing loved it, just booked another week with my wife.

Review 98:fantastic place to stay. Touring on a motorcycle gave me my own private parking place. Cappuccino machine in my room, huge bed and very quite. Apples crisps chocolate in your room. Great breakfast.

Review 99:Could have a bigger sign the front of the property.

Review 100:Lovely old Mansion in beautiful grounds. Great room - fabulous breakfast. Great location for a stop over or holiday in the heart of Lock Ness.

Review 101:Owner explanation, Bathroom out of the room, bathtub with no shower, separate cold and hot water tap in tub. I will not stay there again.

Review 102:very clean, Nice surroundings, local parking.

Review 103:A little pricey for a B&B. Also, when looking for the place don't make the mistake of going to Kilimichael COTTAGE, which is literally just across the road.

Review 104:Beautiful location and very convenient. Excellent restaurant (Fiddlers) less than 10 minutes walk from the house.

Review 105:Fair points for our first day welcome, B&b owner was a little confused to which service we booked along with room price, cash payment was requested on our first day of arrival for our room which we found a little pressure in running around trying to find a cash point machine as normally we are used to paying by card. Bad points was that the room was too warm and didnt want to open the window due to midges, would be advisable to have nets but overall a nice stay

Review 106:Our standard double room was immaculate, lovely clean fresh bedding, a massive thumbs up for extra beverages provided in our room. Brilliant location for loch ness.

Review 107:The owner was not there until one minute before 4:00pm so we had to stand and wait for her. She was not professional and the main house was always locked. She did not want to be bothered after 9pm or before 8am. She only accepts cash for the final payment which is in small print on the confirmation. We couldn't find a bank machine that worked.

Review 108:Location, comfortable beds, clean rooms.

Review 109:The house was old and had a lot of character but at the same time very clean and well equipped. The gigantic trees in front of it were spectacular. There even was a nespresso machine in the room!!! We loved it.

Review 110:A warm welcome, a high standard of Continental breakfast. An experienced landlady, knowing quickly which kind of interests we might have( in our case quiet nature surroundings, hill-walking etc.

Review 111:Made to feel quite unwelcome from the outset, cash payment required on arrival (guess I must have looked dodgy), lots of 'house rules' (no food in the room, no drink, make sure the doors are securely closed, clean shoes . ..... or else

Review 112:Room was very clean

Review 113:Me and Michelle had such a lovely time! Charlotte made us so welcome! the B&B was lovely the room was great and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud!! Charlotte was so helpful! in where to go and how to get there! I was asking for a nice place to eat for me and Michelle and was for heading to book it then Charlotte said she would phone and book a table for us and we had a great time and a lovely meal! the breakfast was nice with plenty to choose from! I have told my family and friends if they ever want a nice place to stay for a good price with pictures surroundings then this is the place!!

Review 114:Lovely Victorian house where we had a large comfortable room overlooking the garden which was very peaceful...Nice extra touches in room such as snacks and fresh flowers... Home-cooked breakfast with plenty of options looking out onto splendid views... Easy walk to the village.. Friendly hostess who was very knowledgable about the local area...
