Review 1：Friendly staff and location close to railway station. Availability of bicycles to hire. Good views of Saumur Castle from window. Wonderful selection of food for breakfast.

Review 2：The welcome given was warm and expansive - with useful info re Samur. The parking within a locked compound was a bonus. The continental breakfast was fresh and well presented.

Review 10：Our room was stylish and spacious with the very welcome addition of tea and coffee making facilities. The hostess was charming and helpful, even carrying our suitcase up two floors . The breakfast was excellent. A very enjoyable stay. We hope to return in the near future.

Review 12：The bedroom, bathroom and public rooms were cleaner than we have experienced in a 4 star hotel. The owner was very helpful in everyway without being gushing and the whole experience was good. We will return.

Review 15：The secure parking was at an additional cost, which is not pointed out to you at the time of booking, so you feel that the hotel is trying to get one over on you right from the start. Located close to the rail station, with freight trains occasionally running at night, although secondary glazing is installed. No lift. Cold room. The thermostat is set on high for your arrival, (I was there in January), but switches off after a short period. Tea cloths for towels! Coffee and tea making facilities in the room, (there is only enough for one decent cup).

Review 17：Proximity to the railway line was a small bugbear, as I woke up twice during the night. However, thankfully trains weren't that frequent at night. Otherwise, I would say the breakfast options could be added to somewhat, maybe by providing more meats and cheeses to choose from, especially for the 8 Euros you pay for it.

Review 18：Whilst I only stayed at the Alcyon for one night, I thought it was an excellent B&B. I thought the owner was welcoming and very attentive to my needs - she even walked down to the taxi rank in the morning to get me a price for a 40km taxi ride to another town. In terms of the facilities, I thought my room was well-appointed, clean, warm and comfortable. The breakfast room was light and airy, although breakfast itself was a fairly basic affair. All in all, my stay represented great value for money and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this B&B to anyone visiting Saumur for a short stay.

As the weather was very hot this was necessary, however there were double windows both double glazed, and when these were closed there was almost no external noise.

Friendly hotel staff gave us lotof tips what to see in the valley (and more importantly: what to skip),which turned to be invaluable for us.We liked our room in the attic (clean and comfortable) which despite the proximity of train station was very silent over night. We also got a place on the free hotel parking (closed) which was more than we could ask for

The owners were so kind, friendly andhelpful, offering to watch our bags on the day we left so we could tourthe town before our train arrived. The room was clean, comfortable withan awesome bathroom and a beautiful view of the river and chateau. Addto this a wonderful street market, an easy walking town and it made fora perfect two days in Saumur! Don't forget to take the bus to TheAbbey of Fontevraud!
