Reviews for Best Western Adagio Saumur

Review 1:Room we had was extremely small for a double. We could hardly walk around the sides of the bed. I am short and wash basin was so high I had to go on tiptoe to clean my teeth!! Our friends had paid for the same category of room and this was larger and better equipped.

Review 2:Very convenient position near the river and chateau.

Review 3:Breakfast and parking rather pricy, especially as plenty of on street parking and eating alternatives within a short walk.

Review 4:Nice little bar nearby with great beer selection.

Review 5:You could not change the temperature of the room as the air con had only one setting.

Review 6:The position of the hotel which is a 10 minute walk over the bridge into the town and although there was an additional charge, the secure parking was a real bonus. The room we had looked over the river and was a bonus. The hotel is ideally situated to explore the surrounding countryside and the Tank museum in town is a must for men and boys who are interested!!!

Review 7:Friendly and informative staff, the room was large, clean and even had a view of the river. The location was just right, a short walk across the bridge to the main town. Would certainly stay there again!

Review 8:Cramped toilets in smaller rooms. No air conditioning in landings and stairways.

Review 9:Very large comfortable rooms. Very helpful staff. Easy to find and ample car parking for free. Well furnished rooms with large beds. Good buffet breakfast.

Review 10:Location excellent. Always try to stay here for the first night of the holiday. Saumur centre is very close to walk to for an evening meal. Secure parking in gated garage, excellent if you have bikes on the car, although very small garage. Staff always polite. Rooms lovely. (Top floor)

Review 11:For some reason some members of our group couldn't connect to the hotel Wi-Fi/internet.

Review 12:A conveniently located hotel a few minutes walk from the centre of Saumur. The rooms were modern and clean, and the staff were helpful. We are happy to stay here again!

Review 13:The hotel room was very warm. The temperature in the rooms is centrally controlled and there is no way to turn it up or down. The windows can't be opened at night to cool the room, because the hotel is located next to the river - and the mosquitoes come flooding in. At 1 am, when my kids could no longer bear it and after struggling with speaking to the reception staff in English - the temperature in our room was turned down by 3 degrees - but then took ages to cool down. Not a place I would stay again or recommend.

Review 14:The hotel is located very close to the city centre.

Review 15:Position of hotel, easy parking right outside in the street or use of secure parking if required and comfortable room. Ten minute walk over the beautiful bridge to the centre of town with a good selection of restaurants and within easy driving distance to many local places of interest, including le Cadre Noir equestrian school, the Fontevraud Royal Abbey resting place with reclining effigies of Henry II, his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine, their son Richard the Lionheart and Isabelle of Angoulême, also excellent wine tasting tours in Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent, boat trip on the Loire, Saumur castle and troglodyte villages....

Review 16:Nothing, it was great.

Review 17:Spotlessly clean, lovely bathroom, excellent free WiFi.Staff were friendly and speak English. Great location, 10 mins walk to all the sights of Saumur. Fine restaurants, great castle, great bars. Safe, free parking outside.

Review 18:Breakfast was pricy but was continental all you wanted to eat . Not sure my car with roof box would have fit in hotel parking

Review 19:Clean rooms. Friendly reception staff. Easy to find. Free on street parking outside hotel. Short walk into Saumur for places to eat.

Review 20:No negatives. We didn't eat at the hotel.

Review 21:Good sized comfortable room. Quiet hotel. Easy and free parking immediately outside. Ten minute walk to the centre of town. Would stay again.

Review 22:room was rather small

Review 23:location, ability to park on street for a couple of days. Quiet area, helpfulness of staff giving excellent dinner recommendations,

Review 24:The hotel was conveniently located and easy to find. Free on street parking outside. There was private parking but I am not sure if I would have fit into the undercover area with a roof box on. Walking distance into Saumur for evening meal. Breakfast was extra and a little expensive but was buffet style, so you could have as much as you wanted.

Review 25:It was very hot whilst we were there and on one occasion the air con. packed up but the receptionist was on to it very quickly and it was eventually restored, so not that bad. I felt the breakfast was overpriced and the pastries not fresh considering there was a boulangerie nearby.

Review 26:Being slightly out of Saumur's main area yet within walking distance of the centre. The room was pleasant with a view over the bridge and river, yet quiet. The bathroom was modernised and smart.

Review 27:Loud music until early hours of the morning presented sleeping. Hotel apologetic but unhelpful. Won't be staying there again! Poor parking facilities (on road).

Review 28:Good location for visiting Saumur

Review 29:A great hotel only a short walk across the bridge into the centre of Saumur. A very comfortable, clean, modern air conditioned room, with a lovely view of the river. Helpful staff and a very good breakfast with an excellent choice available. We took bicycles and the hotel not only has garage parking (by reservation) but plenty of secure bike storage, which made things very easy! If you come by train, the station is less than a kilometer away. We will certainly use it again to visit the area.

Review 30:Only one key for bike locker which was used by many people.

Review 31:Staff particularly helpful and accommodating with good English. Rooms spacious and light in a central location, yet quiet. Opening windows allowed fresh air circulation. Excellent laundromat, car and bicycle hire, rail station and post office walking distance. Old city centre also walkable distance.

Review 32:Parking on the difficult size, although overlooking the Loire it was overlooking the smaller channel, as the island it is on is not cental on the river.

Review 33:Comfortable with pleasant staff.

Review 34:Nothing bad. It was all good.

Review 35:The front desk staff went above and beyond to be helpful. The hotel is modern and very clean and in a great location down the street from the Saumur chateau and within a short driving distance to many of the other Loire chateaux. We highly recommend this hotel.

Review 36:The room was well equipped but a bit small, especially if you have a lot of baggage. 7 euros for each dog was higher than every other French hotel we stay in.

Review 37:The location on an island linked to the town by a bridge meant you got a wonderful view of the riverside architecture and the Chateau as you took the short stroll into town.

Review 38:Excellent location with easy street parking and excellent local restaurants nearby. Room was comfortable and clean, staff friendly and helpful, good English.

Review 39:The bed was quite hard for me, and there is some noise coming from outside and the other rooms. The breakfast is standard French fare so nothing to write home about.

Review 40:The hotel is easy walking distance from the town center. There is parking outside the hotel which is free Saturday eve - Monday morning, otherwise, it is only free for 1.5 hours (the hotel will give you a circle which will identify the time that you have parked at). We had the view of the Loire, which was nice. The staff are fine, but a little slow and not always at reception. There is a safety deposit box in the room, but you will need to get the key at reception.

Review 41:If there is a niggle it is that the secure parking is somewhat challenging!

Review 42:Virtually everything about our experience in this hotel is in its favour. Courteous, helpful staff, well-appointed rooms, excellent breakfast, well situated.

Review 43:Car park a bit tight to get into, but we managed. Not good for a big car. Other than than nothing else.

Review 44:Lovely hotel a short walk from the town. We had a large room and bathroom. A lovely view. There is a lovely restaurant approx. 5 shops down from the hotel on the main road.

Review 45:This is an excellent Best Western! It's well appointed with a modern interior, with great staff and facilities; we didn't use the restaurant but breakfast was fine. The heart of Saumur is a 3 minute walk away, and there are great restaurants nearby and Caves to visit.

Review 46:Happy with all aspects of hotel and the town of Saumur. Laundry van was noisy and arrived early on the street outside our open window.

Review 47:Breakfast and location

Review 48:Nothing

Review 49:Good location - several excellent restaurants nearby. Good for running and walking round the island with a short walk into the town centre. Excellent breakfast.

Review 50:We stayed two nights and the staff were exceptionally helpful with advice and assistance. The room and ensuite are roomy for the price and the breakfast was generous. We loved our stay.

Review 51:There is nothing we don't like about this hotel. It is what it is: a clean, comfortable hotel. The bar can be a little lifeless but that is true of many small hotels late in the season (October). We've been twice now and will probably go again next year.

Review 52:This a well positioned hotel that is easy to get to. Positioned on an island in the Loire river, it is a short walk to the centre of Saumur. There is a small, enclosed car park that you have to book. However, if it is full or you don't want to pay the 7€/night charge, there is also street parking. The rooms are clean and comfortable and there is wifi available. There is only a breakfast room but the surrounding area has some very good restaurants to suit all budgets.

Review 53:Few places open on a Sunday night for a meal in Saumur. Different recepionist was rather abrupt as we left!

Review 54:Receptionist very welcoming when we arrived.

Review 55:I still think that the breakfast is a little pricey for a continental.

Review 56:My group stays here every time we're in Saumur. Convenient to restaurants and sights.

Review 57:Very limited secure parking (7 spots). It was very tight to get in and out and I needed the other person to be out of the car to guide around the posts and corners.

Review 58:Functional hotel type room clean and comfortable. We didn't eat breakfast here but had room service dinner 1 night and it was basic but good. The air conditioner worked well. The staff were helpful. Not in the centre of town but close with restaurants out the front. Close to tourist attractions.

Review 59:The car park is incredibly tight, no good for large cars, VW Golf OK.

Review 60:Close proximaty to all the main parts of Saumur within easy walking distance including the chateau. Multitude of good places to eat with a wide variety and prices to suit everyone.

Review 61:When we arrived there was no hot water until the following day. problems with the gas supply we were told we were told that it was "usually" fixed by midday !!! The staff did not seem concerned that customers were left without shower facilities, etc. The car parking provided is hazardous for your tyres with a sharp ledge at the entrance to the garage

Review 62:Pigeons roosting on bedroom roof. Constant scratching noise as if infested by rats. Air conditioning not working when returning to room late afternoons. Room temp 28 C.

Review 63:Good breakfast. Very pleasant staff. Top marks to night porter who was very helpful when we arrived late. Parking was no problem.

Review 64:I don't like being charged extra for breakfast which seems to be an increasing trend.

Review 65:The room we were allocated was Number 105 on the first floor. It had everything we could have asked for including very comfortable beds. The breakfast selection was excellent.

Review 66:No hot water for our entire stay and staff could care less! Still insisted on full payment. Haughty attitude. If you want hot water and respectful staff do NOT come here.

Review 67:Intermittent internet service. Live rock band in street opposite hotel one night which was noisy and went on to 11.30pm.

Review 68:We were upgraded to a superior room. We enjoyed the quality of the continental breakfast. The reception staff we're very helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent.

Review 69:The other room for which we were charged the same price was very small, with a wardrobe in the bathroom and very difficult to get into the shower. No view either.

Review 70:One room was excellent- large and well eqippped.

Review 71:Lovely sized room, comfy and clean. Private parking available at a small cost which was great for us as we travelled by mortorbike. Only a short walk into the town and is also situated beside a number of stores if you need any food, drink etc. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 72:Easy walk into town. Views of the river from the bedroom. Helpful staff who booked a table at a local resteraunt for us. Wonderful room. Easy parking. Wish we had booked for more than one night. Breakfast very good choice. Will definitely go back.

Review 73:Great value hotel by the river.Short easy walk into town. The breakfast made our stay more expensive BUT it was really good, so much better than a service station! We weren't hungry until the evening.

Review 74:All great thanks, will come again.

Review 75:Liked the way they could speak English, and the friendly welcome. Room and bathroom spotless. Continental breakfast had good choices. We had a lovely view over the river from the window.

Review 76:This hotel is located next to the Loire river but the room we were allocated had a view of the back of neighbouring buildings!

Review 77:A short walk takes you into the bustling city for the many cafes and restaurants.

Review 78:You can't have dinner in the hotel but there are restaurants within walking distance. (Good bar at the hotel tho and free pool table!)

Review 79:Very friendly and helpful staff who did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. Quality of accommodation was excellent, clean and the beds were really comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Review 80:Breakfast expensive, but there are two patisserie within two blocks of the hotel. Definitely would stay again.

Review 81:Fastest internet I have had in a hotel in a long time. Clean rooms, comfortable beds.

Review 82:We did not eat in the hotel but when we wanted a drink in the bar we were totally ignored by staff walking by. In the end we had to go and find someone to serve us. This happened on both nights.

Review 83:The bedroom was very nice and ideal for a family of three.

Review 84:Very easy to find. Free parking on road, but low cost secure parking ingrounds in needed. Breakfast excellent, with good choice. Rooms airconditioned and very comfortable. Will definitely go back to Saumur andhave no reason to stay anywhere else.

Review 85:Our suite was very comfortable for the four of us - including our 2 young adult children - with 2 large twin beds and 1 king size bed. It had a spacious , clean bathroom with large bath tub with shower above, and there is a separate toilet. We had a beautiful view of the Loire River from our room. The breakfast was outstanding and we thought was very good value for money. It was delivered to our room by 3 hotel staff at precisely the time we had requested. We were able to park our car for free right in front of the hotel. There are nice restaurants nearby including a Chinese restaurant where we enjoyed a fabulous dinner. We can definitely recommend this restaurant. the main town centre is just a short walk across a bridge over the river. From this brisge, there is a wonderful view of the Saumur Chateau. It was only a 10 min drive to the Cadre Noir Equestrian Centre where we enjoyed their evening summer gala performance. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 86:Poor sound proofing, so traffic noise from the busy road in front of the hotel. I would recommend to renew the elevator.

Review 87:Nice and spacious room. Good breakfast. Close the center of Saumur.

Review 88:Keep windows closed because of insects from river side.

Review 89:Location is on the island, but anyway 10 minutes walking to city center. We had beautiful view on the castle. Staff is friendly and professional. Room consists refrigerator which is not that common in small cities' hotels in France. We park our car in the open parking right next to the door of the hotel for free.

Review 90:Some road noise, no restaurant (but loads in town). Breakfast slightly pricy.

Review 91:Huge bed, great air conditioning, good views, helpful staff who were very patient with our bad French and my husband being on crutches! Did not hear anything from any other room. Some re-wiring was going on, but work only happened at decent hours

Review 92:Did not have breakfast having read other reviews on cost and content

Review 93:Super view of Chateau, small, but clean room with tea/coffee making facilities. Easy walking distance to town across the bridge, with good range of cafes, restaurants, old town etc etc

Review 94:Our room was fine, but our friends' room was rather tired. They had no blackout blind and no wardrobe. They had a hanging rail in their bathroom, so all their clothes got damp with steam.

Review 95:Central convenient location - free parking outside and secure parking at the hotel. Nice, helpful staff.

Review 96:nothing, it was exactly what I expected,

Review 97:The room was as described and pictured. It is centrally located and had a good breakfast. The staff spoke English well enough and was very friendly. The lobby was very comfortable.

Review 98:Room very small, everything it in you need but it was all squeezed into a small space. Breakfast was overpriced, alSo without language translations.....so you didn't know what was what etc....

Review 99:Location to town

Review 100:The hotel is well placed just a short walk across the bridge into the centre of Saumur. The rooms are sptlessly clean and the beds very comfortable. A really nice breakfast was also included in the price.

Review 101:Close to centre of Saumur, clean, comfortable and quiet.

Review 102:Nothing.

Review 103:Centrally located only a short walk over the river into town. Good car parking around the hotel. Good sized airy rooms. Value for money.

Review 104:Almost in town centre with on,y short walk over bridge over river.

Review 105:Location convenient for old town and restaurants etc. Private closed parking

Review 106:Breakfast modest, bordering on limited.

Review 107:Secure parking, view of Le Loire.

Review 108:Location to railway station

Review 109:Location of property Friendly staff Clean comfortable and modern rooms

Review 110:All

Review 111:position, view, silence at night

Review 112:Location is pretty nice, about 10-15 minutes from the pedestrianized area of the city centre. free wi-fi in rooms too. Rooms are nice and clean.

Review 113:we had a lovely room with French windows overlooking the river. The was a lovely young man on the desk that couldn't do enough for us

Review 114:Bedroom too small - we expected more space in a "premium" double room.

Review 115:Excellent breakfast. Location of hotel.

Review 116:Easy to walk into Saumur, free parking in street

Review 117:Coach party cleared breakfast and we had to wait for restocking

Review 118:Location

Review 119:Did not do our homework so were disappointed that there is no restaurant. Lots of eating places nearby.

Review 120:Convenient location

Review 121:Great location smart hotel and cheap parking

Review 122:The breakfast was the best And the staff were so nice
