Reviews for Shore View Hotel
Review 1:no vending machine/snack bar/mini bar available in case of midnight thirst/peckish
Review 2:how close it was to the sea. Amazing indian restaurant minutes away. Slept like a baby
Review 3:Just stayed the one night with our tween daughter. The room was very comfortable with a ocean view. The breakfast was very nice and we would stay again. Staff were helpful and we were able to leave our luggage even though we had checked out, to meet a friend.
Review 4:If you have a lot of luggages, you're able to be annoyed about many doors before entering your room lol but It doesnt matter ! :)
Review 5:They were really kind and lovely at reception. The location is perfect for seeing eastbourne beach. I was falling asleep with sound of wave. Was so lovely! The room was bigger than what I expect and so clean. If I get a chance to stay hotel in Eastbourne, I would stay this hotel again.
Review 6:Howling wind and draft coming through window so much that the curtains were blowing about! .
Review 7:Room was clean and bed comfy staff were friendly and helpful I have stayed here before and didn't have any problem with draft so don't want to give a bad review
Review 8:Shower cubicle tiny with shower curtain that stuck to my skin yuk! Ended up flooding bathroom. Room smelt musty. Tiny towels not even big enough for my 7yr old. Bed moved across room everyone we sat on it.
Review 9:Breakfast very nice. Good location.
Review 10:It was very Windy when we stayed so quite noisey (as waves crashing on beach beach and wind blowing straight at the front) in a room with a seaview. We are used to quieter area at home. But was made up with the sun rise and view of pier.
Review 11:Staff very helpful and friendly. We had allergy and vegie requirements for breakfast which were dealt with very well. We also had 3 rooms which we were able to get together which was great. We booked last minute and would definately stay again. We stayed last xmas too. :)
Review 12:1.Dogs peeing in corridor. 2. difficulty with parking and being dropped off and collected, 3.paying on arrival my stay wasn't very friendly.
Review 13:Room was warm, clean with a great sea view
Review 14:Food was poor the buffet style we found the food poor quality which was a shame. We would stay again but on a room only basis.
Review 15:Rooms are very comfortable.
Review 16:Breakfast was extra at £7.50 each which was cheaper than the big hotels. We didn't bother though.
Review 17:We had a sea view which was a bonus. Great location and friendly staff.
Review 18:No where comfortable in the room to sit and enjoy the view and no access to outside varander which would have made everything excellent.
Review 19:Lovely location and view. Clean room, with all that is needed. Nice, friendly, helpful staff. Security excellent.
Review 20:AS you came in the room there was a smell like the room hasn t been properly aired, probably because the Windows could not be opened entirely. Also it would be nice when you book a sea view room, not to receive a bottom floor room, where you can just See the Street and hear the cars
Review 21:The bed was very comfortable, and the room very clean.
Review 22:Booked on the basis of 2 adults + 1 child but on arrival it was only a double room and no cot. Duty staff incapable of arranging a cot so boy had to sleep in our bed. Not thrilled.
Review 23:Not a bad experience, but some doors did slam during the night/early morning and you can hear the people above walking around.
Review 24:The room was very clean and comfortable with plenty of towels. The room was very warm and it was nice to be able to turn the heat down on the heater in the room.
Review 25:Some visitors made noise and they chatted each other loudly in nights. I couldn't sleep properly. Sound insulation is a little bit weak.
Review 26:Location, cleaning and size of room were perfect. All appliances were new and bed was very comfortable.
Review 27:Not a bad experience but an observation re room 103 - in the bathroom a shelf or somewhere to put wash things rather than on the floor . In the bedroom with two of us would have been nice to have 2 chairs rather than 1
Review 28:Location and good for what we wanted to do and we have been to this Hotel several times before . We always like the breakfast and the staff in the restaurant .
Review 29:Reception staff welcoming and helpful, dealt with an unexpected room booking cancellation due to ill health, in a very uncomplicated way, not making us feel a problem. hubby needed an extra pillow, got two very promptly on day of asking. put next to a relatives room like we asked if it was possible when booking
Review 30:The door didn't fit in the frame so all night it banged in the frame due to wind which couldn't be helped, the bed was very uncomfortable and solid. The overall look of the hotel was a little shabby.
Review 31:The sea view was beautiful, the hotel is right on the sea front, the room was very large and TV was good.
Review 32:Every thing fantastically clean staff lovely we had booked for our two dogs but did not take them the room we had was gorgeous other hotels we have stayed in with the dog s always give us a inferior room
Review 33:Feeking at home in the heart of Eastbourne With a feeling of comfort safety and perfect set up for work leisure or business trip Stylish decor fab X mas tree Bar is excellent open late
Review 34:It seems the sound deadening between rooms isnt good. There was a noisy group of people somewhere near us. The management were ineffective is solving the problem giving a sleepless night.
Review 35:Very highly discounted room at short notice. Got upgraded to a suite. Everything seemed reasonably clean. The bed was a superking so plenty of room.
Review 36:The above
Review 37:I Didn't stay as had to rush to hospital and I have been refused a refund however 3 of my friends did and I was also charged for 6 breakfasts when it should of been 3
Review 38:It was £485 for a pint of carlsburg larger it's not even that in central London that's a joke how they can charge so Much for larger.
Review 39:It was located oppersit the pear
Review 40:Shower curtain to close sticks to yr body as you shower - very annoying. No pillow protectors on pillows. Not enough milks left for drinks. No place to put shampoo etc in shower area-rack needed.
Review 41:Liked the sea view but would be annoying for some people with the traffic from the road-didn't bother us. Good location for walking around.
Review 42:The bathroom was extremely poor. Lots of mould and body fat in the shower, although they had tried to re silicon. The flooring was poor and you could see where the new sink was fitted over the old leaving holes. The extractor fan screched when in use. no heating in the bathroom, towels were too small, a bath sheet would have been better. No phone in room and took a while to get hold of someone using the "option" system on switchboard. Hot breakfast was a little shrivelled, hard fried bread. Noisey room from wind and people above.
Review 43:Spacious rooms, comfy bed, good tv which looked to be new. Staff were friendly and attentive on arrival, not so on departure.
Review 44:Would prefer if the bed was attached to the wall as when laying up in the bed the bed started moving
Review 45:The layout of the room was amazing along with the amount of space available
Review 46:The room smelt musty, i know it had leaking problems hence scaffolding around hotel but those rooms shouldn't be available as its off putting for quality of hotel.
Review 47:Having to go out for breakfast because £7.99 for a bowl of cornflakes is a bit much. Also told we had a sea view!! Very funny!
Review 48:The hotel was absolutely fine for my mum and myself. However, as she is 83 years old, having to go out for an evening meal on a dark night in November wasn't very convenient.
Review 49:no restaurant to serve evening meals where told this at 18.00 on the first day so had to find alternative.some staff ok and helpful some having a bad day i think .
Review 50:easy to find on the front. parking ok if you can get a space on the road.hotel nice and comfortable room a bit small but ok.
Review 51:Love the location of this hotel and have been staying here three to four times a year. Good clean rooms and the staff always give us a very friendly welcome.
Review 52:The waiters at breakfast were rude and unhelpful to us after mix up with our breakfast reservation. The helpful Girl at reception made them apologise to us .
Review 53:The room was lovely and reception staff excellent and helpful
Review 54:The room was a decent size but rather "tired". The shower was poor, and very small, so that the shower curtain wrapped itself round and made taking a shower not very pleasant. Sound insulation between the rooms was not good.
Review 55:The location is very good, and the staff are pleasant and friendly
Review 56:N A
Review 57:Good location - clean, quiet hotel with friendly staff and very reasonable prices. This was a perfect hotel for people wishing to explore the town.
Review 58:Creaky floorboards in bathroom . Something minor.
Review 59:Staff were brilliant ! Reception, friendly and helpful . Restaurant staff were also friendly and helpful . Just great !
Review 60:worst night sleep due to road noise and uncomfortable bed. The gentleman that checked us in was very rude and wanted cash deposit from us???? No idea why when we were paying for the room in full upon check in.
Review 61:Nice looking hotel and the breakfast was nice.
Review 62:Polish young lady was quite rude at the bar she tried to tell us that sparkling water was the same as soda water and I had to go to Tesco and buy my own in the meantime she threw my drink away and when I asked for another tried to charge us for two because she threw it away.
Review 63:Room was clean and spacious.
Review 64:The room window did not open .The cleaning staff were not up to scratch and had to be reminded to change towels and empty bins. The beds were not made properly. We would like the restaurant to be open during the day for snacks and soft drinks as a lot of elderly people stay there.
Review 65:The staff were plesent and the location was good
Review 66:The room was shabby and needed updating. We were woken up each day by the hotel boiler starting up. Didn't like having to walk through the smokers that congregated round the front door. Asked for a sea view but ended up round the back
Review 67:The system for car parking was really good The staff were really friendly and helpful. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 68:We booked an executive room which was large and overlooked the seafront. Unfortunately the sofa was still made up as a bed which restricted our movement around the room. In the bathroom, the toilet seat was insecure and swivelled around. The bath surround was loose, and not fixed properly to the bath. The window sills were very dirty and cannot have been dusted for a very long time. We complained to Reception, who gave us a free breakfast, but nothing was done to correct the problems.
Review 69:The location was fine and there was an excellent pub immediately behind the hotel.
Review 70:Having to collect own towels from reception. No on site parking. Very slow check out. Be nicer with a longer bath.
Review 71:Breakfast was good. Hotel position nice.
Review 72:There was a slight issue with the door not locking automatically when closing, so anyone could of come in but it was solved quickly.
Review 73:The view was amazing! Room itself had everything you need! Restaurant staff were helpful too.. Overall it was definitely worth going!
Review 74:Ground level seaview is noisy and limited seaview. I'd go up a level if you want sea-view value. Pretty basic, certainly 3 stars standard.
Review 75:The staff were friendly and helpful when we had an issue. We were lucky to get accommodation on a busy Bonfire night, but that also meant it was very noisy in the front 'seaview room'.
Review 76:Cheerful staff, decent breakfast, easy parking by the promenade opposite. Loved your staff's suggestions for places to eat in the evening. Picasso's was really good.
Review 77:We booked a sea view room and ended up in the fourth floor attic with limited Windows obscured by posts. Staff were good an re allocated us the following day. Shouldn't have happened. No refund for night in sub standard room.
Review 78:Breakfast was not included in the price so did not get the chance to try it. Facilities in the room were great, could not fault it. The maid did walk in at 10am despite me calling out from the bathroom.
Review 79:Seaview. We had not requested this, so it was lovely. Shame about the weather though. Very helpful staff making up my partner's new key card without being asked, as he was totally soaked and looking sorry for himself.
Review 80:Booking.com hadn't reserved the 2nd room that I added on but the hotel very efficiently resolved the matter & luckily there was a room available at the time!!!
Review 81:The only thing is we had a balcony but we wasn't allowed to use it. Which was a shame as it would have been lovely to have stepped out there when it was hot!
Review 82:Very clean room, and lovely sea view. Friendly polite staff. I would definitely come here again!
Review 83:Only problem seagulls could be a bit noisy but don't think the hotel is to blame for that ;-)
Review 84:Good location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable.
Review 85:Having to pay for an extra bed as couldn't let the two children share as they are not brother & sister.
Review 86:That the hotel is right on the sea front & the size of the room that we stayed in.
Review 87:The other receptionist was very negative and unhelpful when checking in.
Review 88:Rosa is a little gem! Very helpful soon sorted out our room for us! Very informative.
Review 89:The towels could do with being bigger.
Review 90:The size of room (210) was good in particular the bathroom. Booking in advance meant the stay worked out at £49.60 a night, which is very good value. The location is spot on the only downside is the parking which Can be tricky but using the £1 a day pass from the hotel worked well for us.
Review 91:The selection at breakfast was good, however various items were dried out eg bacon, hash browns, and even the croissants. Not particularly pleasant.
Review 92:The room was very nice. Helpful staff also.
Review 93:Pillows rather lumpy. Noisy people staying in room above seemed to be walking around until half the night. Would feel safer if had chain on door.
Review 94:Friendly/efficient check in. Room allocated was room requested. Helpful staff.
Review 95:did not like pets on the premises. did not like guests smoking at the front doors. There was no evening meals available
Review 96:Staff, breakfast & location - great
Review 97:The room wasn't clean food under the beds /toilet handle didn't work properly /the online booking forms should be easier sepecaly if you book brecfast paint peeling off in places as for pricing to expensive for how it looked
Review 98:Staff exhalent and very helpfull
Review 99:Only a couple of issues with the room. Extractor fan in bathroom didn't work resulting in whole room getting wet from condensation from showers, and a bad smell from the drains.
Review 100:We love the location we always stayed here when it was a travelodge. It's ideal for our trip once parked we walk everywhere
Review 101:first room 316 not suitable for couple on holiday, shower terrible, not enough room for clothes.room only suitable for travelling salesman.
Review 102:when we complained about room receptionist was excellent and moved us next morning.
Review 103:No problems for us
Review 104:Proximity to shops, bus links and pier. Room had all we needed(would have preferred adjustable showerhead but that's a personal preference). Pleasant helpful staff
Review 105:Only minor things like the restock of coffee/milk. Also a towel was taken but not replaced but there was a spare so there was no problem
Review 106:Staff always friendly
Review 107:you were not told the options for b/fast but there was every thing there if you wanted it
Review 108:just a short stay, I left my coat behind the door and was told they would send it to me Well done.
Review 109:The hotel was convenient and central to everything. We had the Seaview room which would have been nicer with bigger windows but overall our stay was comfortable.
Review 110:On arrival the receptionist on duty was miserable and monotone. The following days they were better and helpful. Bathroom definitely needs upgrading, some units unsafe and old.
Review 111:Good location, room clean.
Review 112:When we arrived it was very sunny and hot. On entering our room we were hit by the heat and realised that all the windows were locked apart from one which was out of our reach and only open a fraction! There is a fan provided but the heat was stifling and uncomfortable! When having a shower you ended up in a pool of water almost up to your ankles. Clean plughole but quite clearly the drains need sorting! The showerhead fitting was coming off the wall too.The room itself was spotlessly clean. However every corridor door you had to go through was filthy where people put their hands to push through. Also check when booking online! I thought I'd booked with breakfast but had not and so I paid £129 for one night without breakfast. I wasn't prepared to pay nearly £10 each extra for breakfast and we found a lovely café round the corner where we had 2 breakfasts for £8 and it was really tasty. I will be staying at The Hydro Hotel on my next visit to Eastbourne.
Review 113:Thankfully the only decent thing about the room was the bed, oh and the view. The lady on reception was very friendly and helpful.
Review 114:Room staff just threw duvet back on bed!!!! Bed certainly wasn't made even left scatter cushion under duvet!!!
Review 115:Location Clean Excellent reception and breakfast staff
Review 116:There is no private parking area for this hotel. I was advised to park my car to any public parking area (within the white lines of coastal roads) near the hotel. However, I realised that there were only limited parking spaces, even most of them were occupied by local residents. I ended up parking my car approximately 1.5 km away from this hotel.
Review 117:The hotel is located at the road, which runs along the seashore. The guests can walk and follow a trail to the beach.
Review 118:Back of the hotel room. Overlooking rooftops but noisy generators. The main doors to the rooms and those in reception need to be slow closing as they slammed everyone
Review 119:The location was excellent.
Review 120:Door was left open by service team one day. Whole room and bathroom in a mess. Looked like someone had slept on the bed which I had left folded down tidily but had been partially pulled up on our return. Fortunately nothing seemed to be missing however.
Review 121:Easy access to sea front and High street. Spacious room.
Review 122:Staff very rude, didn't inform us they had parking permits so hadto pay over £10 in parking fees. Only found out about the parkingpermits because I over heard a guest ask for one when I was checkingout!! Wasn't offered the option of a breakfast so went later tobook it had to wait till the receptionist had completed all her jobsbefore she took my order, Then I found out that they have a bar withevening meals but when I enquired was told they didn't ?? Woulddefinitely not be returning
Review 123:The location
Review 124:No wifi inside your room, and the location could be better. Hotel has a business touch not a homy touch.
Review 125:We had a double bed private room without seaview. I checkmarked a extra big bed, and it was a very very very big bed in a great big room with everything you want.
Review 126:As we were on the ground floor you couldn't open the windows, it was one of the hottest days of the year. They supplied a fan, could've done with air con, so the room was stuffy. I woke up with a headache! We went to the bar for a drink. It was like sitting in a staff canteen. I had a pint of carlsberg and my wife a small wine. Didn't get much change out of £10. Same place to have breakfast people were queueing up to get seated. Big hotel small breakfast area. At £116 for the night I've stayed in better b&bs for half the price. Not great!
Review 127:The room was spacious and well soundproofed ( we were on the ground floor next to a busy junction). The bed was huge and comfortable
Review 128:Wifi connection was only good on the first evening and early hours of the morning i.e 2am. People slamming the fire doors whilst I was trying to sleep. The shower head would not stay in the position I put it in, it kept turning to the right side so most of the water went down the wall.
Review 129:The staff were very friendly and very accommodating.
Review 130:The bathroom was in a need of complete make over.. The bath panel was falling off.. It was mouldy round the edge of the bath and the sink and toliet were old and tired too.
Review 131:Location and staff
Review 132:The room was dusty, the bathrooms are in need of tlc.
Review 133:Good location. Very friendly and helpful staff especially Rose. The hotel accommodated the 5 of us in one room comfortably.
Review 134:Location was amazing! Right by the pier and near to the shopping centre. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean & well equipped - we even had a partial seaview twin rm 320.
Review 135:We were billed £360 for 2 nights as it was the air show. We paid the higher rate for a seaview family room as we had our 10month old with us. Hotel room was a small double with a travel cot squashed in, doors slamming people shouting and a dog balking in the room below us until almost 2am We had to ask my family to look after my daughter at their house so she could get some sleep. We were told nothing the staff could do as they were full. For a new hotel it was dirty black mould all round the bath seal. Greasy hand marks nxt to the bed and scuffles all over the wall.
Review 136:Location is good for the seafront
Review 137:Staff smoking outside upon arrival always drags down the image of a hotel. It may have been thin ceilings/ walls then again a family of elephants may have been above us. Soft closers on doors would be a good investment
Review 138:Nice, simple good value with a good location
