Reviews for Pierre & Vacances Premium Palais des Gouverneurs
Review 1:Bed was terribly hard Pillows were not comfortable The first floor room is like a prison cell without a balcony The windows have to be open when it sunny but they are very dangerous because they open into the room by about 800mm - at a ridiculous height. These windows should be changed immediately. They also reduce the room size when open.
Review 2:Location
Review 3:As the hotel was advertised as a 4 star we were expecting somewhere pretty special with all the trimmings you would expect from a 4 star rated hotel. What we had was an unclean, basic, tired apartment. As my husband and I were travelling with our 5 year old daughter, she had the bed in the bedroom which left myself and my husband sleeping on the sofa bed in the kitchen area, with the lumpy pillows, listening to the noisy fridge and neighbours, both from above and below. The pool was a lot smaller than in the photos and had mould and peeling paint everywhere. The free parking was secure, however, the spaces were not marked therfore the 'car park' was always in complete chaos and was based on a first come first served basis. Nearby parking is all metred. Not what we expected at all for the money. It felt like butlins but a pricey one!
Review 4:The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location was fantastic, only 5 min walk from the centre.
Review 5:Toilet was a bit small in the good sized studio apartment but otherwise the facilities were excellent
Review 6:Excellent location in St Martin and very comfortable accommodation with nice pool area.
Review 7:Welcome and service from Emmanuel was excellent. She was extremely pleasant and helpful. Facilities were excellent. Accomodation was very good and very clean. Covenience to town centre (5 mins stroll) was great!
Review 8:It was all excellent but I think a bed would be better than a sofa bed.
Review 9:Location,environment,grounds,facilities,cleanliness,staff,room,decoration,price.
Review 10:An idyllic setting just 5 mins walk from the port (with lovely cafes and restaurants). The apartment was well equipped (with a Nespresso machine - extra points!) and comfortable. Parking was secure and nearby. We loved it all!
Review 11:Not enough sockets, with all the kitchen gadgets and also our tablets, phones etc which needed charging up daily
Review 12:So close to the old port. Pleased to find kettle, toaster, 2 coffee machines and a teapot. Dressing gowns, towels and beds made up too. Staff really friendly and facilities good. Great location 5mins and you were at the harbour with such a choice of restos
Review 13:Nothing of any great importance. Check in/out times more restrictive than a conventional hotel which might be a problem for some people.
Review 14:An ideal destination for families who prefer to self cater. The indoor/outdoor heated pool is a plus for days when the weather is not great. The location is just right, in a quiet area but within an easy walk of the quaint lively (for Ré) town and port
Review 15:Noise in room from fridge motor.
Review 16:Clean, tidy apartment within enclosed grounds, with friendly staff. Good sized bedroom suitable for cot. Decent kitchen in room. 10 minute walk to scenic town harbour for excellent but slightly expensive restaurants. Secure parking on site. Good pool, but no shallow end for smaller children. Enjoyed our stay.
Review 17:No shops nearby. Reception open for limited hours not very convenient for arrival.
Review 18:Nice Studio with lovely high ceiling which made it appear larger.
Review 19:Excellent central position, 5 minutes from the port and restaurants. Very helpful staff. Great pool
Review 20:Old bicycle, slightly tired accomodation
Review 21:Location/parking
Review 22:The accommodation was expensive for what it was.
Review 23:Reception staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 24:Comfort of beds and cleanliness.
Review 25:Friendly staff Well kept grounds Location
Review 26:Lovely grounds great staff great location
Review 27:view of garden from window
Review 28:Nothing!
Review 29:Fantastic location and surroundings, and everything within strolling distance.
Review 30:The hotel is
Review 31:Location good
Review 32:Wrong orientation of room without a terrace
Review 33:Great location, nice staff
Review 34:Location excellent, walking distance to all facilities and the sea. Very good secure parking. Children enjoyed the pool.
Review 35:Fix the ceilings.
Review 36:The town and cycling. Pool and seafood.
Review 37:The reception staff were unfriendly. This hotel is suited to Europeans with families, namely French. And you must have a car. There is nowhere to buy anything on site. The closest shop is a 10min walk way. The reception closes at mid-day for 1 hour and again at 8pm. God help you if you arrive outside those hours or you need any help. Even access was inflexible, with door codes and keys in safes. It was absolutely the wrong place for me to stay as a single traveler on this trip, without a car. On my departure date, they rang me to say I owed them 4 euros 20 for taxes. I then asked them to call me a taxi so I could get to the bus station. They said, 'Sorry its nearly 12 noon and we are closing now'. I went to reception and she called several taxi firms, but there were no taxis available. They just shrugged and said 'sorry'. I had to walk for 15minutes in the hot sun with 2 cases along the street, to a bus stop. The man at reception had told me the buses arrived at Poudriere stop on the hour for La Rochelle station. I arrived but there was no bus at all. If I hadnt been able to flag a taxi and pay 60 euros, I would have missed my train to Paris completely. Would not recommend Palais to anyone except French families with cars.
Review 38:I liked the outside area and the views from the rooms and the loungers by the pool
Review 39:What is called spa is only swimming pool and sauna.
Review 40:the stuff is very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. Everything is clean, including swimming pool area. The territory is very big and well maintained.
Review 41:croissants could have been fresher. no drainage space in kitchen if washing by hand.
Review 42:spacious well laid out. right next door to the swimming pool. relaxed, and quiet overnight.
Review 43:No bed - only a put-you-up settee and a pack with two sheets, a duvet cover and two pillow cases. More like a DIY youth hostel than a hotel. Might suit families staying for a week or more but not for one or two nights.
Review 44:Welcoming and capable receptionist but hours of attendance not very clear. Short walk from harbour, centres of interest and restaurants. Secure parking but 200 metres away, across gravel with cases.
Review 45:Hard uncomfortable beds. No kettle and unable to supply one even though property 75% vacant!
Review 46:Location Size of apartments Flexibility on check-out time Hiring Bikes
Review 47:Sofa bed uncomfortable and very creaky, OK for a couple of nights but I would not have liked to stay longer
Review 48:Great location with friendly helpful staff. The room was clean and spacious
Review 49:Interior of the building is tired and the accommodation we wereallocated (apartment no 9) was poorly situated with no views in a cul desac and lacked natural light. No bedding on arrival which had to berequested. We were then notified that the kitchen cleaning set (tinybottle of washing up liquid and sponge/scourer!) would be charged atrip off 8 euros and a towel set at 6 euros per person which was notnotified to us by Booking.com. Fortunately we sorted ourselves out muchcheaper at the supermarket. We have stayed at P&V before and neverreceived such charges. Also booking indicatedsleeping arrangements for 4adults not two doubles! Bad show Booking.com - breach of contract! Notsure who is at fault here - P&V or Booking.com. Would advise furtherinvestigation before booking this place through Booking.com
Review 50:Location in the old part of St Martin and easy walk of thePort/restaurants/shops and the heritage feel of the Palais.
Review 51:Pictures on booking.com are very-very far from reality. Plus, huge worksaroud a place (streets were closed etc.) very dirty appartment.Reception was closed when we arrived, and opened only next day. Bedsheets was very dirty and 2 beds were very old and oily we decided notto stay here even with 100% of penalties for 3 nights.
Review 52:Our apartment was in a poor condition. The manager was most helpful and explained it was due to be renovated this winter. He showed us an apartment which had been renovated which was much better.
Review 53:Peaceful, spacious, well organised apartment.
Review 54:Beautiful old buildings insensitively converted. Bathrooms old and grubby (some were refitted- so pot luck!)
Review 55:Quiet and peaceful. Close to town center with its beautiful harbour.
Review 56:Uncomfortable beds
Review 57:Convenience
Review 58:Only french television. Corridors not in good conditiion
Review 59:Decor. Room size. Well equipped kitchen. Good location.
Review 60:Parking is difficult Staff were not very responsive Reception is closed during the day
Review 61:Great location in near St Martin
Review 62:Peace & quiet
Review 63:Apartment was very bare--no mirrors or bedside tables or bedroom chair.
Review 64:Location, garden, bike hire, quiet.
