Reviews for Harvest Home Guest House and Restaurant
Review 1:Tracy & Jeremy were excellent hosts. The meals were well cooked and delicious. Our garden room was very spacious as was the ensuite. We would definitely recommend and will be returning.
Review 2:The walls and ceilings thin, you could hear next door clearly. Also the orange juice was on the turn and tasted zingy at breakfast.
Review 3:Nice spacious rooms which were very clean. I would stay again and recommend.
Review 4:Nothing
Review 5:Basically everything. the weather was awful but even that did not dent our view and appreciation of Harvest Home. Thank you especially for the sandwiches.
Review 6:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food served for breakfast and dinner was excellent. The accommodation was spacious, clean, well equipped and maintained, with great views.
Review 7:We liked everything
Review 8:The room we had was very good, a large bed, decent TV, and plenty of space in the Wardrobe. The meals that we had were excellent, The couple running the B&B were very friendly and attentive.
Review 9:Shower was small and no shelf to put soap ect. Led to beleive you could go on walks from there but you had to take your car to reach any trails
Review 10:Quiet and restfull Food good
Review 11:There was nothing we didn't like. Everything was fine.
Review 12:The owners were very friendly & amenable; the bedroom was spotlessly clean & a good size, as was the bathroom, which had a bath & shower combined; the location for us was fine; & the cost was very competitive.
Review 13:The Tavistock suite was very light, clean, comfortable and roomy with a lovely view. There was no traffic noise. It was convenient that we could have an evening meal there.I would highly recommend it.
Review 14:As a light sleeper I was disturbed at times by the headlights from passing traffic on the main road to Tavistock as we do like to have the curtains slightly open. The room we were in does not have a view of the garden as stated in booking.com website, just the main road with countryside views beyond.
Review 15:The owners were very friendly. Evening meal was very good and the full English breakfast was excellent. Room was very light and of a good size, with a lovely en suite supplied with toiletries, and a 2 seater sofa for watching the TV or just relaxing. Very convenient for the lovely town of Tavistock, just 2 miles away.
Review 16:Good breakfast and ability to have evening meals, if required, which were also good. Bed very comfortable and shower very good too. For a longer stay, as we had, a greater choice for breakfast (e.g. yoghurt, continental would have been a bonus.
Review 17:None
Review 18:The size of the room; the absolute squeaky clean cleanliness; the very good breakfasts. We also had dinner every night - the food was excellent. We only stayed 3 nights, so if we stayed longer, we would have expected a slight change in the menu, but what we had was very very good.
Review 19:Friendly and welcoming hosts. The rooms are large, bright and airy and the suite was kept warm and comfortable even in late summer before autumn took its grip.
Review 20:A wonderful comfortable bed which I think is very important and to have a sofa in the room too is exceptional. Very large rooms to be able to move about in and a wonderful en-suite shower room. Breakfast was really good as was the meal we had in the restaurant on site.
Review 21:Rooms were above average, lots of room and attention to detail. Mirror with a plug next to it, ladies will appreciate this. Very clean, comfy bed and bedding. Breakfast was good and we had the evening meal which was cooked by the owner, would not hesitate to recommend.
Review 22:Friendly B&B .Very comfortable and clean. Food excellent with a good varied menu to suit all tastes. Breakfast cooked to perfection! Owners Jeremy and Tracey great hosts.
Review 23:Proprietors are very friendly and helpful but we were uncomfortable being watched eating meals - we marked down the 'staff' score on account of this. The breakfast is very traditional 'full English' (or elements of this). No fruit, porridge or fish choices which we find frequently available in this price range. Whilst this B&B is very good we found it hard to understand the rating standing as high as 9+ for several years.
Review 24:A good location for car-based visits to several nearby attractions. Bedrooms are large and the comfortable sofa much appreciated. Food, including dinners, was nicely cooked and tasty.
Review 25:We did not like being watched whilst having our meals
Review 26:The room was light and spacious and food was good hosts friendly it would have been nice if they had introduced themselves on arrival as we did not know their names
Review 27:Something which couldn't be helped was the fact that the guest house itself is situated quite close to a road which unfortunately the locals seemed to think was a race course. Nevertheless we had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend and will definitely consider going back.
Review 28:The room was homely and very comfortable. The owners Jeremy and Tracey were very accommodating and friendly. The food prepared by Jeremy was exquisite.
Review 29:The owners were lovely, very attentive and helpful with things like directions and things to do in the area. We were given our own front door key so we could come and go as we pleased which was handy. The room was fabulous and so comfortable!
Review 30:Had issues with Internet cutting in and out so not able to use it properly. Terrace not appealing, and was one of reasons to book the room .
Review 31:Massive comfortable room ,very comfy bed ,very clean .
Review 32:Nothing to dislike
Review 33:The garden room was wonderful as were the owners. My husband rated the breakfast as one of the best ever and the evening meals were delicious. In fact, almost perfect
Review 34:No bad experence
Review 35:Spacious bedroom and big bathroom Good food on the premises- don't have to go out into the night looking for somewhere to eat. Friendly owners ready to help
Review 36:can't think of anything.
Review 37:everything. we had an evening meal there, i had steak, which was the best tasting i had eaten for a long time. the best thing was i didn't have to ask for help with the bags that was automatic. will go back again.
Review 38:There was nothing to dislike about the Harvest Home guest House.
Review 39:We both really enjoyed our stay at the Harvest Home Guest House, with it's lovely clean and generous rooms, good food, plus the bonus of the very pleasant staff, making it one of the best guest/hotels that we have ever stayed in.
Review 40:The staff were lovely .The room was clean comfortable stylish the food was excellent nothing was too much trouble a warm welcome and friendly chat made us feel at home would certainly return . Lovely x
Review 41:Nothing!
Review 42:The room was much larger and more comfortable than most with a large settee as well! The hosts were excellent and the food great. I will stay here again!
Review 43:the poor wi-fi in our room
Review 44:excellent room, suite size, lovely bathroom, very clean and warm with lovely views from 3 windows. Parking no problem the owners were so polite and served a great breakfast.
Review 45:We enjoyed our one night stay very much. A very friendly atmosphere, excellent bedroom and bathroom, superb evening meal and a great breakfast to start the day with. A very good place to stay if you want to go walking on Dartmoor. We loved the resident Dalmatian (spotty dog) who we only meet just before we left.
Review 46:We stayed at the Harvest Home for a week in September 2014. Jeremy and Tracey and their lovely dog Oscar made us feel very welcome and at home. We stayed in the Tavistock Suite which was superb. The food was excellent. Harvest Home is ideally situated to explore the Tamar Valley, Dartmoor and all the surrounding areas of this beautiful part of the country.
Review 47:The pillows
Review 48:The room was large and well equipped, the food in the restaurant was excellent, especially the Raspberry Pavlova. The location meant that we could enjoy the best of Devon and Cornwall without having to travel too far.
Review 49:Tea was a little strong!! One tea bag would have done!
Review 50:Friendly host, lovely dinner, excellent breakfast. Well maintained clean good sized room with lots of facilities.
Review 51:Superb room - the Junior Suite was well worth the small supplement - really spacious and very comfortable. Super little restaurant, too, and Jeremy and Tracy are fabulous hosts.
Review 52:Nothing to report.
Review 53:The property was easy to find, the room was very clean, and spacious, as was the bathroom. The owners were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was faultless. A very pleasant experience.
Review 54:Would have been nice if there was hot chocolate and sweeteners provided along with the kettle. Coffee or tea was fine and lovely in the morning but a hot chocolate would have been much appreciated at bedtime. However this is just my preference and not a complaint.
Review 55:We loved the room with its own private terrace/garden complete with picnic table and ash tray. Fantastic to be able to step out of own door for a cigarette without having to trail through hotel and find a smoking area somewhere. Clean, spacious and comfortable room with huge bathroom.
Review 56:The house was easy to find, the room was spacious, comfortable and clean, and the owners very friendly and helpful. Accommodation and food were good quality and really good value. The roadside location was not a problem, as the road becomes quiet at night.
Review 57:Nothing to dislike about this place.
Review 58:My wife and I are extremely particular about cleanliness and the bedroom and bathroom were spotless. The proprietors were both welcoming and charming and we had an excellent cooked breakfast which was included. The accommodation was light and spacious and the bed was very comfortable and had a proper mattress protector. This was the best guest house that we have ever stayed in and would not hesitate to return and recommend to our friends in the knowledge that they would not be disappointed.
Review 59:Bit of a funny smell between restaurant and stairs.
Review 60:Very friendly and helpful owners. Dinner at restaurant very nice. Room very large light and had access to outdoor area. Helpful with baggage. Stopped and chatted when it was raining until cleared.
Review 61:the exterior lets it down. Sweeping and jetwashing the steps, a repaint and cleaning the bench would make increase the kerb appeal hugely. I nearly drove on....
Review 62:beautifully clean room , good food, amiable hosts and a great breakfast. ide\l in so many ways
Review 63:Just a few minutes from Tavistock and the Cornish border in the other direction the Harvest Home is an excellent base for almost any activity in the area. Our room was so big that we felt spoilt and the food and the welcome were equally good.
Review 64:warm welcome from owners and assistance with luggage. Enjoyable dinner & breakfast. Good size comfortable room with ensuite. Good value for money
Review 65:The dinner portions could have been more generous, but only because it was so tasty.
Review 66:Spacious clean rooms and a modern bathroom. The food is surprisingly delicious and cooked well. Tasty breakfast. We must mention Oscar who is a lovely dog and an excellent addition to this family run business.
Review 67:Nothing. It suited us very well indeed.
Review 68:We were attending a funeral and stayed for one night. We cannot fault this guest house. We were very well catered for. The room was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The food was very good indeed and the hosts were friendly and helpful.
Review 69:The latest check-in by 9pm is a very limiting factor. If travelling by car, you cannot always predict how long the journey takes (e.g. traffic etc.). If travelling in business, you cannot always predict what time your business meeting finishes the day before. Sometimes negotiations take you much longer than expected. Thus, it make it very risky to book here if you cannot be sure what time you manage to arrive.
Review 70:I enjoyed all aspects of my stay here entirely. I can highly recommend the place.
Review 71:Quite simply right next to main road, slept well until morning traffic started then impossible to sleep even for a heavy sleeper like me. Traffic a few feet away, with double glazed windows shut not really a problem in hot weather with windows having to be open unable to sleep past 6-00 am.
Review 72:Food was good, prompt service and for size of establishment better than average.
Review 73:Very friendly &helpful.we were off to a wedding and it was perfect for our stay. Our room was massive and really clean and comfortable. Would definately stay here again. Lovely breakfast in the morning
Review 74:Not a dislike, more so a suggestion.... Maybe background music at dinnertime and news on a TV in the morning, just to break the hushed silence? It's a British thing that we all have to whisper and it'd be nice not having to!
Review 75:This was a last minute, by-chance booking after becoming bored with looking at hotels. I'm very glad that I saw it! Huge room (suite), fabulous food, friendly welcome & conversation, comfy beds, great shower, good wi-fi. Can't really say a great deal more other than I would stay here again without a moments thought. A very, very pleasant establishment.
Review 76:the room was very spacious and there was a little courtyard to sit in privately.it was very clean and had everything u needed.we ate at the restaurant and the food we had was excellent
