Reviews for Loch Ness Inn

Review 1:The location was excellent for what we were looking for. Also evening meal & breakfast were first class hat to the chef management and all other staff that help to run a lovely inn

Review 2:Everything was great!

Review 3:INCREDIBLE food, friendly staff, lovely fire, great selection of drinks, very comfortable room and fantastic location along the Loch road. Manageress Karolina and waitress Kim deserve a special mention.

Review 4:Furniture in the room to store clothes

Review 5:Location of hotel for walks and access to other locations eg Inverness and Fort William The food is excellent and good to have a restaurant on hand where you are staying especially this time of year as most places are closed

Review 6:Great management, amazing food and brilliant hospitality from all staff. The rooms were very comfortable and cleaned on a daily basis which is what we liked most due to the field of work we are in. Would definitely recommend to a family, couple or any workers like ourselves who are looking for a great, quiet place to stay.

Review 7:There was a mix up with the room so where eventually given half of a family room (a double and twin with shared bathroom, although the twin was kept empty). The family's double and bathroom were a bit less comfy and glamorous that the ones shown in the pictures, but still pretty good value for money, and the manager made up for it with a small discount and a bottle of wine. So overall a happy ending.

Review 8:Very nice inn close to the Loch and the castle with private parking. It also has a very good restaurant with very nice traditional style (and recently renovated) and atmosphere, delicious local food and large portions. There is also a separate bar area but we didn't try it out. One stop shop where you can dine, have a drink and sleep all rolled into one, also because the village itself doesn't offer much at all during the off season. Breakfast was also very nice with average portions and a few options for all tastes.

Review 9:Fabulous location. Brilliant food. Very welcoming staff. Comfy bed and plenty hot water. Can't fault it. The benchmark for other establishments to strive for.

Review 10:We have made reservation several weeks before the arrival . we specifically asked for a baby crib and 2 extra beds and were willing to pay for it. when we arrived - the vouchers were different - no mention for crib, 2 extra bed mentioned but not ready. the staff manged to get us beds and cribs but we had a missing blanket - and they claimed that they did not know we will be needing extra 2 beds. the booking voucher and their vouchers proved differently.

Review 11:I honestly have nothing bad to say.

Review 12:The food at the Loch Ness Inn is really spectacular. I have visited this hotel several times (and sent clients here - I work in travel) in the last 7 years and had a great experience each time.

Review 13:Not good value to stay here. The beds in the twin rooms are narrow, the door hinges in my room and the dining room squeak. I could hear the entire contents of the room above me's WC falling down the waste pipe! The toast for breakfast was made of crusts. Poor breakfast service - "Would you like tea or coffee?" would have been better than "Do you want tea or coffee?". I would expect better for the money. Gave the impression of a managed business with the owners not paying attention to detail. So different to the evening meal experience which was very good.

Review 14:Definitely worth eating the evening meal here. The food is great and so is the service, though one of the two cask ales had run out.

Review 15:On 2 occasions food served wasn't too good ordered sausage stew it was hot dogs in the stew not good and ordered linguine pasta in the bar tasted stale and too much garlic!!

Review 16:Breakfast friendless of staff

Review 17:Pillow options limited, generally too soft. External door to rooms at rear needs a closer to stop it slamming when anyone entered. If anything, a bit pricey.

Review 18:Great & friendly staff. Good food. Great location as a base to explore the greater area.

Review 19:Bed was hard and curtains didnt blot out the inn sign light. Breakfast was a little dry

Review 20:Great location, food, staff, atmosphere and facilities. Was very quiet

Review 21:The bed was terrible, incredibly squeaky and we could feel all of the springs. The room was okay generally. I was disappointed with the eggs benedict because the muffin wasn't toasted, it sounds trivial but it was just doughy and it did specify on the menu. The breakfast staff weren't particularly friendly, and I felt that it was generally not good value for money as it was very expensive for one night. The room was over the bar and the noise was awful until 1am. Just a bit disappointing.

Review 22:Great shower, good location, good parking, excellent evening meal and my partner said the full English breakfast was great.

Review 23:Thin walls, could hear snoring from the 1st floor

Review 24:Nice quiet location, rooms just a few meteres from a lovely little river. Excellent award winning food!

Review 25:Very limited cereal choice only cornflakes, frosties and cocopops. No fruit or muesli. The cooked breakfast was poor tomatoes raw sausages, bacon and black pudding all overcooked and well past their best, egg ok. We stayed in four B&Bs in Scotland, this was the most expensive and the worst breakfast. One evening they ran out of beer. The room however, was comfortable, clean and well appointed with good tea and coffee tray. Would not use again.

Review 26:Very good position in Drumnadhrochit, you can reach the village by walking, you'r e also close to riding center and walking path through the forrest. Very nice room with a comfortable bathroom, biscuits and water bottle provided in the room.

Review 27:I would have to say the room was too warm. I appreciate the weather had been nice and there was very little cool air but it seemed to me that the heating was turned on in the room and hall way.

Review 28:The Inn was great, good food, nice staff and lovely room. Thanks to Debbie for the lift into Drumnadrochit

Review 29:Couldn't fault it

Review 30:Really friendly staff. Lovely clean and comfortable room. Great location. Would definitely recommend to others and would stay here again. Restaurant was great also but make sure you book as it's very popular. Great location away from the main tourist centre but only a short walk away

Review 31:The bed was the most uncomfortable bed. The springs were broken. The quilt was off poor quality. The toilet door squeaked. There was so little breakfast choice at the breakfast buffet. No fruit at all except a bowl of tired looking fruit, no healthy cereals. The whole place was shabby.

Review 32:The location was lovely. The evening meal was good with a varied menu.

Review 33:Booked here for an overnight stay and wished that it could have been longer. Our room was lovely and cosy (loved the deep set window with quirky curtains) the walk in shower was great and everything we needed was readily available; it didn’t feel like a hotel bedroom at all. We had booked in for breakfast but were advised to make a booking for dinner as they can get very busy and after having eaten there we were not surprised; the food was amazing!!!!!!! The prawns for the starter were fabulous as was the Cullen skink, veal tagine and steak that we had. Breakfast in the morning was just as good with a choice of cereals and yoghurt etc and choices from the cooked breakfast menu; we had the highland breakfast and eggs benedict which were perfect. We also had a drink in the bar downstairs which leads onto an outside area with a lovely view and a stream running by; a lovely sunny place to sit. Isla and the rest of the staff were very helpful and friendly and we would definitely recommend the inn and would not hesitate to book it again for a longer stay.

Review 34:The food in the inn-restaurant was way overrated. Not even close to the excellence many of the previous comments suggested. We were first given room 12 overlooking a car on one side and the large garbage bins on the front. Upon request, we got a different room in the adjoining back on the first floor with an extremely noisy toilet whenever flushed. At breakfast, the tables are so close together that you feel the neighbor's in your back every time s/he moves.

Review 35:The location so close to Urquhart castle is great. Take a walk after dinner at around 8 pm and be suprised how great the castle looks with hardly a visitor.

Review 36:All the staff were very friendly, cheerful and extremely helpful. Breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice and everything was always available. Evening meals very good, great selection of beers in the bar

Review 37:It was very noisy in our room which was above the restaurant at the weekend but quieter during the week. Room was quite small.

Review 38:Very good food and service

Review 39:The room had a strong disinfectant smell when we first entered the room. The room should be aired after cleaning. The TV did not worked too. Otherwise it is satisfactory.

Review 40:The restaurant food is pretty good. It is a quiet place to stay.

Review 41:Can't understand why Bookings.com calculate my rating as 7.5. I would rate it more like 8.5, not sure the system is working properly

Review 42:Lovely country Inn. Good food and nice rooms. Staff were amazing, when we discovered there was to be a disco/party in the coutyard below our room going on to the early hours, and we had a 400 mile journey next day, they went out of their way to find us another room on the other side of the building and we didn't hear a thing. The restaurant was packed (a Saturday evening) and the staff worked their socks off, can't praise them enough.

Review 43:2 things I didn't like : - there was smell of some cleaning chemicals in the room. In some time you get used to it, but at first you feel it - I really love views from the windows and expected a view over the lake. And it is something like 1 mile away from the lake ahd no view. However I should say , I would hardly find a hotel of this level with a view . I didn't see such a place there.

Review 44:The place is very traditional and cosy. The staff are all fairies, friendly and helpful. The meals are just "wow"..

Review 45:The place was great. There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Review 46:Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were comfortable and clean, perfect for after a day of biking the nearby Great Glen Way. Evening meal was delicious, and complimentary breakfast was plentiful and good.

Review 47:If the room is situated over the restaurant/pub area, there is some noise at night.

Review 48:Lovely little hotel/pub with ample parking. The fact that you go downstairs to the pub for drinks and dinner cannot be beaten.

Review 49:Bed felt quite springy and was not that comfortable. Also some noise from music in the restaurant and pub below although thankfully didn't go on very late.

Review 50:Nice spacious well kept rooms, super friendly and helpful staff, good parking availability, location brilliant for accessing everything the Loch has to offer and lovely food

Review 51:Nothing

Review 52:customer service was the best, friendly staff, great restaurant attached for dinner, the room was quiet, warm and inviting. I would love to stay again longer for more time to take advantage of the various outdoor activities around.

Review 53:The room was overpowering hot and we had no way of reducing the temperature except to open windows which on the ground was not a safe option. A very restless night's sleep!

Review 54:Friendly welcoming service, food excellent, pleasing decor and ambience.

Review 55:WiFi was a little unreliable on the night of our stay but they did have bigger network problems at the time. However this did not detract much from stay.

Review 56:Decoration, friendliness of staff, comfortable beds, spacious rooms, delicious delicious food. Overall had a very positive experience

Review 57:Its location was further from Loch Ness than I anticipated but it was a lovely village

Review 58:The room was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant was lovely

Review 59:Often had to ask for yoghurt and fruit to be put out. Never found a comfy sitting room/bar

Review 60:The dog lived outside in the car and all staff were very helpful with looking after him - dry towels for him and keeping his food fresh

Review 61:The room was like a sauna from the time we arrived to the time we left. No the heating was not on. I love a cosy room but the temperature was far too much. We opened the small window but had to close early evening due to our noisy neighbours. The wifi was turned off at 9pm?!?! Unsure why. We were in room 1 which meant we were next to the banging communal door and stairs. The guests above us were somewhat inconsiderate when it came to walking up and down the stairs and loud convo's until late.

Review 62:Great location. Clean and tidy room/bathroom. Comfortable beds. Lovely dinner/breakfast.

Review 63:What I didn't like was the fact that my sister and I couldn't have had more time...!

Review 64:Too short and sweet to really to accurate. My sister and I had had a long day, so being able to stumble into a restaurant without having to go too far, was a real plus. ....and to find such excellent cuisine...bonus. Thank-you.

Review 65:there happened to be a 21st birthday party for a couple of the staff while we were there, and we were lucky enough to get invited. Although we didn't actually go! The pub was crowded, but that made it atmospheric. The locals were an extremely friendly bunch of people, and seemed fascinated that Aussies had made it into the pub and were speaking with them,

Review 66:Only one gripe...dartboard shown on website picture had been removed for some time.

Review 67:Very relaxed atmosphere yet professionally run establishment in a great setting. Friendly staff throughout ready to make conversation and give information. Cleanliness very good and food and bar snacks of high standard.

Review 68:A lovely warm Inn with a great restaurant and pub downstairs. The room was large, comfortable and warm. The location is great for exploring to Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, the Loch Ness Experience and only a short drive to Eilean Doonan Castle. Great place to stay.

Review 69:Nothing!

Review 70:Could not rate this place highly enough. The cosy room was large and a welcome sight after a long day on the road. The food was excellent - both for dinner and breakfast, which included many choices. Great value for money in a lovely quiet village.

Review 71:Not much, but if I have to find one thing I'd say that while the staff was friendly, it was clear they were doing a job. There was not the same warmth as in some other Highland hotels/B&Bs.

Review 72:We came in very late after a long day to a comfortable room. The location was very practical for hiking in Glen Affric, visiting the Urquhart Castle or doing some Nessie spotting.

Review 73:One of the female staff everyone else apart from this one girl was excellent we found her rather rude no faults apart from that

Review 74:Hotel was lovely can not fault it at all

Review 75:We were advised by Lisa that it was a Retro evening with a band playing. She said it would be noisy but the band stopped at 12.30. 12.30 suited us as we joined in the fun. Unfortunately the noise, very loud banging & scraping sounds, continued well after 2.30. A rather sleepless night for us. Mentioning this to the very young girl on checkout next day, she apologised & said Lisa would be in touch - still waiting!! I would have recommended this accommodation but I feel they let us down & themselves!!

Review 76:Lovely bedroom. Staff cheery & helpful. Food average. Band playing - had a good fun evening.

Review 77:The food is limited for someone need Halal food. It is suggested to make various option of vegetarian and non alcoholic food. We are looking forward for their specialty prawn badly, but unfortunately it was not available during our stay...

Review 78:The staff are warm and welcome. The view is great. Very comfortable en suite bedroom. Bring young children is not an issue.

Review 79:We knew before we went that there was a lack of comfy seating for after dinner drinks but simply asked the Staff and there was not a problem in us taking drinks to our room.

Review 80:We liked the location, the efficiency of the Staff, the excellent food we sampled in the Restaurant every Evening, the Inn was always warm, plenty of parking spaces, we enjoyed the whole experience.

Review 81:Bad internet connection, but its everywhere the area, so didnt bother us too much.

Review 82:The rooms are so cosy and warm, welcoming. Has all the facilities, great smelling soap, nice towels...could easily compete with any other big chain hotel. Great hotel, food was good as well.

Review 83:Comfortable room, lovely food in restaurant - including breakfast. Pub was very busy on Friday night but room was very soundproof so no problem there.

Review 84:Most of all it is so friendly. Staff were excellent. So helpful. Location is perfect. Food is fantastic. Comfort and cleanliness as good as anywhere I have ever been

Review 85:Our room was on top of the kitchen I think because it was sweltering hot. I left the window open and it was still very warm. It only got cool in the wee hours of the morning. Could use a bigger window or an air conditioner

Review 86:I loved the charming-ness of the inn. It was exactly what we needed after driving around the Highlands all day. The food was amazing.

Review 87:THERE WAS NO WHERE TO RELAX AFTER YOUR MEAL IF YOU WANTED ANOTHER DRINK. THERE WERE NO COMFY CHAIRS. THIS IS WHY IT ONLY SCORES FAIR FOR COMFORT IF YOU WANT A DECENT VIEW DON'T TAKE ROOM 12 IT'S ON THE GROUND FLOOR.

Review 88:THERE WAS A LARGE VERY CLEAN ROOM (GROUND FLOOR SET UP FOR DISABLED GUESTS). IT WAS WARM AND HAD A GOOD SHOWER. THE DINING AREA WAS OPEN WITH A LOVELY LOG FIRE. THERE WERE TWO BEERS ON AT THE TIME OF OUR ARRIVAL BUT ON SOON RAN OUT AND WAS NOT REPLACED. POSSIBLY DUE TO THE TIME OF THE YEAR (END OF SEASON)

Review 89:The bed was a bit soft for us

Review 90:The staff were welcoming and very friendly the food was fantastic just a pity we had not planned to stay longer

Review 91:That we only stayed for two nights instead of three

Review 92:From arrival till departure couldn't have faulted a thing. Would definitely recommend and will certainly stay again in the near future.

Review 93:We liked everything. We didn't have a car, and the Inn is a bit of a walk from town, but we were walking the Great Glen Way, so what's a couple more miles?

Review 94:I feel like our whole stay was lit by a soft, glowing light. The pub and dining room have a rustic charm, but are perfectly clean and modern, locals dine here, so you don't feel like you're just another tourist shuffling trough. The rooms are modern, clean, comfortable, and have just enough of a personal touch not to feel cold and sterile. All of the staff were comfortable and professional.

Review 95:We had room 1 which is furthest from the bar and mostly quiet (we could hear people in the room above talking and walking around) but had a view of smokers from the bar and dog owners letting their pets go on the grass next to the room. Ordered the venison which was cooked completely through. No sign of a pink bit let alone rare as it should be and no offer to change it when We complained

Review 96:Comfortable romm and friendly staff

Review 97:That we only got to stay here for one night :(

Review 98:l don't think l've got enough words to decribe how great this hotel is. The location, the rooms, the staff and OMG the food was to die for, we're already planning another trip to Scotland just to stay here.

Review 99:Staff were quite abrupt, and food was only average. Split between restaurant and bar didnt work for me.

Review 100:The room was very clean and nicely done. Location was okay.

Review 101:No bad point at all

Review 102:Dinner is great breakfast is fantastic staff are friendly and politerooms are clean and tidy, look very nice free spring water and biscuitsprovided Scottish decoration 2 mins drive from loch ness castle

Review 103:Bed linen was clean and good quality but quilt covers were worn out!

Review 104:Nice and clean, warm and comfortable. No stairs and covered walkway to public bar and restaurant

Review 105:Great location, especially for walking the Great Glen as it only 50 yards off the route!, with friendly, helpful staff very comfortable room and excellent dining facilities

Review 106:poor sound insulation between rooms and someone next door was snoring all night as loudly as a chainsaw!

Review 107:Good food and reasonably priced; friendly and accommodating staff; clean and comfortable room.

Review 108:set back off the road the inn both peaceful and central for a host of activities boat trips on the loch or hill walking sightseeing or just sit back and enjoy the peace our double room was clean well laid out warm not to hot or cold shower was good lots of very hot water good stay was had by all breakfast was very good dinner was good both have a large section overall good value for money.

Review 109:Nothing.

Review 110:Ours was only a one night stop during an 8 day hiking tour of the highlands but it was the kind of place it would have been nice to stay longer. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere with the bright city lights of Drumnadrochit some way up the road but that added to its peacefulness. It would be impossible to fault the comfort of the accommodation, the welcome of the staff or the quality of the food. Try the cock a leekie soup!

Review 111:Although the food was excellent it is a bit pricy perhaps the menu for snacks at lunch time could be reviewed to include baked potatoes with various fillings at a reasonable price also sandwiches.perhaps a better selection for coeliacs.on the 2nd day they had run out of gluten free bread.

Review 112:The staff were all excellent friendly nothing to much trouble for them. Isla helped us to spring a surprise on my sister and partner who were visiting from France a huge thank you to her and all the staff.Room clean and comfortable with a well stocked tray of Tea Coffee . Would recommend a stay here and hopefully we will return. Thanks again for all the staff not forgetting the maintenance man.

Review 113:Such a cute little inn. Room was very comfortable and cosy. The shower was amazing after a long day sight seeing. Located close to a lot of the attractions and a nice stroll into the village. Though we didn't have dinner here the breakfast was more than enough to set us up for the day. Would have liked to have stayed longer.

Review 114:This Inn was a surprise as it just looked like a little B&B when we looked online. However, everything about it was brilliant - staff, rooms, the restaurant food is 5*, breakfast is fab. They even have a little bar attached to the Inn too. Can't fault it at all. We stayed for 2 nights on our tour around Scotland and it was one of our favourite places we stayed in.

Review 115:Thought it was a little overpriced in comparison to other places i have stayed, I would think around £75-£80 would be a "fairer" price

Review 116:Great location and the breakfast was really nice

Review 117:If I was being really picky I would say that the shower cubicle in the room was slightly on the small side but still allowed a comfortable shower.

Review 118:The standard of decor at the Loch Ness Inn made it look like it had been recently refurbished. The staff were extremely helpful, the bedroom was well decorated and very clean. The bed was comfortable and afforded a good nights sleep. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 119:Lack of restaurants around opened at night. Stop serving at 9pm

Review 120:Our hotel was near the sightseeing places. Great spot, easy to locate the hotel. they had a big signboard. We requested for accessible. Managed to get the ground floor rooms, Great staff.

Review 121:Great location, 20 minute walk to Urquhart Castle with beautiful views of the Loch and only 10 minute walk into Drumnadrochit. Lovely staff and services. Good quality meals at the restaurant. Decent sized rooms.

Review 122:Wish I'd have stayed longer than one night. (If you haven't a sat-nav, keep your eyes open for the road sign or you'll miss the lane where it's located).

Review 123:Loch Ness Inn is about twenty minutes from Inverness and within walking distance of Urquhart Castle. It is clearly signposted from the road. Our room was spacious and a very good standard generally; comfortable beds. Try the excellently cooked haddock with poached egg for a hot breakfast!

Review 124:Absolutely stunning, pristine cleanliness and fantastic food-evening and breakfast. Highly recommend and lovely staff. Will be returning and recommending certainly-thanks Loch Ness Inn for a fantastic stay!

Review 125:The location. There are not too many restaurants in walking distance. (At our visit the hotel's restaurant was fully booked)

Review 126:Nice clean room, good bathroom, free parking and wifi. Staff is very friendly. Good breakfast.

Review 127:This Inn was excellent value for money. The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was well presented with man sized portions with the breakfast particularly good. We stayed in the annex on our visit and the room was spotlessly clean. We would certainly stay here again.

Review 128:Booked dinner 8.30 but not fed till 10 pm. Was v. Busy but they should know how to cope when fully booked food was good and they gave us drinks but it was tooooooo late to eat !

Review 129:Location, food, staff, and value for money

Review 130:Room was quite dark & hot, with small windows & winter weight bedding. No phone reception & unreliable internet.

Review 131:Great location with walking distance to both local villages & short car ride to Urquhart Castle. Excellent restaurant. Friendly helpful staff.
