Reviews for Green Hotel
Review 1:Rooms a little cold. Could do with a plug in heater for each room, there was heating on but the rooms are a big size
Review 2:The gym & pool Fair price, nice breakfast Friendly staff
Review 3:Although the bed looked inviting and was not a cheap version found in some hotels, I found the mattress to be hard and I like a soft mattress (but that is down to personal taste). I therefore got little sleep and a bad back by the next morning.
Review 4:Staff were efficient and friendly and food was very good
Review 5:The location, the ambience, the eating options, the size of the bedroom, the upgraded breakfast - cf my last visit six months ago - and the dining room was bright, clean and well presented.
Review 6:We don't have any bad experiences apart from what I've said above. It didn't effect our stay though.
Review 7:We stayed for 3 nights over New Year. Cannot fault the hotel or staff. The only thing I would say though it was disappointing the jacuzzi wasn't working. We'd walked round loch leven (21k) and a jacuzzi would have been bliss after this. Also there were no scrambled eggs at breakfast and I'm a veggie so they would have been welcome. It wasn't clear also if you could ask for them. However overall we had a wonderful stay. Our room was huge and so quiet. The staff were lovely and all said hello. Lauren at reception was really welcoming and friendly. The food was awesome and scones from Jock's Bar. Plus really liked the lounge to relax in as they had up to date variety of magazines to read. We'll definitely be back! Thank you to all the staff for a lovely time.
Review 8:Shower is not very powerful and the television didn't work on every channel.
Review 9:Very friendly staff, good leisure facilities though they are across the road at a sister hotel. Very comfortable rooms, good size.
Review 10:Had no dislikes all as expected from previous visits.
Review 11:Conformable and friendly, we only used hotel for bed and breakfast over the festive season and dinned out for all other meals.
Review 12:Sorry.No complaints.
Review 13:We have stayed here several times before but this time our room was larger than we expected and was also very quiet and peaceful. Food is excellent too. Staff are always very welcoming, cheerful and helpful.
Review 14:The bed was too small! We both felt we were sleeping on a precipice and liable to fall out at any time.
Review 15:All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was first class - all the hot food was fresh and piping hot. Our room was spacious and had all the necessary facilities.
Review 16:We liked everything about this hotel , staff, food, especially the rooms, you would never have known it was freezing outside as this hotel is so warm and comfortable..we loved it..staff are so lovely and helpful.. Top marks!!!
Review 17:Went for a spa weekend to find out the pool was broken and had been for 2 weeks, wasn't informed for this. Rooms were dirty, was told to use local pool by staff. Weekend totally ruined.
Review 18:Only thing we like about our stay was the food.
Review 19:It was a particularly cold weekend and I felt the corridors leading to the bedrooms and the rooms themselves, were not warm enough.
Review 20:The fact that the gig I came to, was at the hotel.
Review 21:The pool was closed during our stay, however they made an adjustment to the price. Though some locals say this is regular
Review 22:Staff were very good looked after us well
Review 23:The staff were very helpful and friendly.was up for a concert in the hotel and I thought the concert and location were wonderful will certainly go back
Review 24:Large comfortable bedrooms. Excellent restaurant. Friendly helpful staff - as always. Superb facilities. Great concert venue. Can't recommend the Green Hotel highly enough.
Review 25:The staff and service were both excellent. The rooms were large clean and very comfortable. I would like to spend a long weekend here with my family and explore the area.
Review 26:Plug points for charging your phone was hard to find, and miles away from your bed.
Review 27:My room was very quiet, as I am a light sleeper. Bed was really comfy and warm.
Review 28:The fabric of the room was a little tired. Seats covers ripped. Still comfortable but could do with a little spruce up.
Review 29:Food was great and not a bad price either in the restaurant.
Review 30:Bed although big requires new mattress as you could hear the springs go "ping" when turning and offer no support. Hall carpets worn and torn in some places.
Review 31:we had a lovely big room with two chairs and a sofa bed. Breakfast good quality and asked for porridge and got steaming bowl full. Hot plates
Review 32:The hotel is obviously preparing to decorate and our room was in need of attention such as the siting of the lamps - making up was difficult because the lighting sites i.e. dressing table lamp didn't reach the mirror. The housekeeping didn't notice the obvious i.e. neither plug (bath and basin) was attached to chain which was there. Position of table with television was a hazard to the person leaving the bed beside the wall without walking into the stand holding the suitcase at the foot of the bed.
Review 33:The layout, parking facilities, shop, size of room. The dining room was fine but the waitress didn't offer me coffee or tea so having waited until I was eating my main course I asked for coffee and then cup and saucer!
Review 34:A few of the staff in the restaurant appeared to be untrained in the duties they performed. The room was cold, broken tiles in the bathroom and the furniture needs updated. The floors in the hallways and the bedroom creek very loudly.
Review 35:The location of the hotel and the close proximity to the golf course.
Review 36:Only thing was our bed was a bit hard, could do with more comforting mattresses.
Review 37:The staff were incredibly polite and helpful and took genuine interest in you as a guest.
Review 38:We booked this hotel specifically due to the spa facilities & I was very disappointed to be told the beauty room was closed on a Tues & Wed (the days were we there).
Review 39:Nice wee hotel with lovely, big, clean rooms.
Review 40:Did not like the attitude of head waitress at breakfast - very short with a couple of guests who asked her for requests. She also spent quite a bit of time next to our table giving instructions to members of staff whilst we were trying to eat breakfast and then whipped away empty plates whilst one member of our company was still eating - very rude.
Review 41:Comfortable hotel, clean with good sized room overlooking nice garden. Good variety of food at breakfast. Reception staff very helpful,
Review 42:Some staff were less than helpful, e.g when we asked for larger cups for the room. The food served in Jock's bar was lukewarm. Most of the town seemed to close on Mondays and Tuesdays, which happened to be the days we were there.
Review 43:Liked the facilities in the health club across the road. Rooms were nice. Most of the staff were pleasant and helpful.
Review 44:Spa facilities have been moved to sister hotel-not convenient. décor very tired-needs freshening up.
Review 45:Location was ideal. Room was clean and staff were pleasant.
Review 46:But Ide give it a 3 out of 10, just because of the bed. It was two smaller beds pushed together and was hard as a rock. Be better off sleeping on the floor. The swimming pool was really far away.
Review 47:Room and hotel was absolutely wonderful.
Review 48:The very pleasant country-house ambience. The restaurant for breakfast is excellent especially the staff who wait on us and the lounge tea/coffee service is good. We thought that Jock's Bar menu is reduced a bit compared with our last visit.
Review 49:Bed mattress a wee bit too hard for us but didn't waste weekend. Some areas of hotel a wee bit tired but adds to its character.
Review 50:Staff were exceptionally nice and couldn't be more helpful. Hotel in superb location. Terrific ambience - we were a group of 11 ageing from 14 to 78 and everyone happy. Even 9 week old baby made very welcome. Hotel shop an Aladdins Cave.
Review 51:the tv did not work and as we like to watch the was I was annoying and also it said the there would be a doggy welcome bag we are still waiting for it and when mentioned it is only if they have chews for the dog they will be in the room
Review 52:the area of the hotel
Review 53:Bad nights sleep bed too hard. Duvet looked as if it had been flung on when we arrived. Needs a bit of tlc in some areas. Breakfast...pre cut fruit ect left un refridgerated potato scones were like chewing rubber bands(not that i have)
Review 54:Personally i think it was a basic stay. Staff were nice along with location.
Review 55:when I booked this hotel I was under the impression that the pool and hot tub were in the green hotel and not in the sister hotel across the road
Review 56:we had dinner on arrival and the food was excellent The staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 57:Creaking floorboards. Rather hard bed. In particular, the evening menu was the same every night - needs changing daily.
Review 58:Large, light, room which was-as requested-on the ground floor. Pleasant and helpful staff. Good car parking.
Review 59:Dirty windows in both the Leisure centre and our bedroom. Also, the TV remote batteries were flat and the shower was pathetic (Rm 305A).
Review 60:Free access to the Leisure centre.
Review 61:staff weren,t as friendly as the partner hotel didn,t feel as welcome as i have stayed in the partner hotel before
Review 62:swimming in the other hotel was the best part of the holiday as the staff were very friendly
Review 63:Nothing.
Review 64:The pool across the road was great. Dinner and breakfast was both brilliant and staff were so friendly. Ground floor room overlooking the green, beautiful.
Review 65:felt some of the staff were very slow at cleaning tables etc and just didn't seem to have much go about them...... this didn't just cover junior staff I felt there was a couldn't be bothered attitude with senior staff as well were all very unobservant and couldn't see small jobs that were needing done .... the wee things that make all the difference !!!!!!
Review 66:hotel was very comfortable and food first class ....... the family enjoyed the golf and leisure facilities
Review 67:The restaurant wasn't open much of the time and eating from the bar menu was monotonous. Our bedroom window did not open, and also we had flying ants altho we were moved to another room.
Review 68:KInross is a good centre
Review 69:Dirty socks from someone else's stay, stain on lapshade, dampness on walls. Windows not clean in the whole hotel inside out, carpets warn down to tread, Afternoon tea was not correct finger sandwiches, cakes were kipplings or even cheaper then that very poor value for cost, advertising pictures of hotel with swimming pools etc to the greens, but it was hotel across the road. The price was showing £510 reduced to £90 when we booked, but it was no way standard of £510.00 that we expected. Very disipointed and should not been charged more then £910 discounted to £50.00 for the standard of the hotel. But we had no choice but to stay since only hotel in town and the wedding we attended was 10 min walk.
Review 70:Breakfast
Review 71:Not a particular fan of cooked English breakfast left on a heated trolley. Food became cold very quickly. Fried eggs looked as if they had been around for a while.
Review 72:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the walk in shower. Hotel has a brilliant jacuzzi.
Review 73:Very noisy corridor floors Creak, creak, creak!! Bedroom and parts of hotel now quite tired and needing upgrade and decor and new bathroom
Review 74:Size of room Position of room and view Great not to be so close to another bedroom Lovely lounge rooms and great shop
Review 75:The service in the restaurant on the one night we were there wasn't great although they were (they admitted) busier than they were expecting to be that night.
Review 76:Nice big room with a sitting area and good size en suite bathroom
Review 77:Extremely old-fashioned hotel, carpets threadbare in places, rooms very bland and bathroom in dire need of replacement. Also, floors very creaky/noisy.
Review 78:Large bedroom overlooking garden.
Review 79:Noisy plumbing pipes all through the night! Meant very little sleep. We asked for a room move for 2nd night which was much better! Much better sleep! Rooms were too hot, towel rail could not get turned off, which didnt help the weather was hot outdoors, so opening window didnt really help.
Review 80:The leisure facilities, nice warm pool, hot jacuzzi. Lovely cooked breakfasts! Beautiful upgraded room
Review 81:Staff were all excellent, nothing was too much trouble - they made our stay extra special. Our room was lovely and the spa and leisure facilities were great too!
Review 82:The hotel room looked tired and for £105 per night I expected more.
Review 83:Breakfast was nice & most of the staff were friendly & helpful especially the reception staff who were lovely.
Review 84:The flush on the toilet was a nightmare, with the handle spinning round and having to be pumped hard about 3 times to get it too flush. Also the shower was so weak that I had a bath instead of a shower I the morning. Room 21.
Review 85:The staff were friendly and the room was spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was clean and well presented.
Review 86:The only negative was a broken toilet that was fixed but broke again. It become a humorous event using buckets to flush it. :)
Review 87:The staff were friendly, helpful and coutious. Lovely views and gardens to chill out on a summers day.
Review 88:The WiFi wasn't working the entire time we were there. Considering we have continued business to run this was very inconvenient.
Review 89:The beds were great and the proximity to the Loch was fantastic. It was great to have a pool too :)
Review 90:The chef decided he was too busy to allow us to have a meal in therestaurant as there was a big party in - despite the fact that thewaiting staff had directed us to an available table! Totallyunacceptable
Review 91:Very, very comfortable bed
Review 92:Jocks Bar used to do great bar snacks at really reasonable prices but no longer available. Food prices had gone up quite a lot since last visit.
Review 93:Location, facilities and rooms.
Review 94:Placed in a room with known plumbing issues causing extreme loud banging noise whenever any other guests used any bathroom facilities. Never slept and when complained on departure a discount was immediately offered and accepted. Great customer care from head receptionist but very disappointed guests were given rooms when fault already known.
Review 95:It was an old hotel with character and a relaxed atmosphere. Very open layout and beautiful courtyard. Room large and bright. Staff very friendly and attentive.
Review 96:The paint was peeling from the corridor walls and the seats in the lounge area were very lumpy. All rather tired-looking. Looking forward to a cup of tea in my room I eventually located the kettle etc in a drawer in the bedroom. The next problem was finding where to plug it in. All the light sockets in the bedroom were round pin and the kettle was square pin. I eventually found a square socket on the floor behind the curtains. I was then able to boil the kettle by putting it on the floor!
Review 97:I liked the bedroom - roomy and clean. I liked the check-out time being at 12 noon on a Saturday
Review 98:Thick cob web on ceiling/cornicing. Tissue box had layer of dust & bed side cabinets had thick dust in corners. Menu in Montys was not as good as one advertised online.
Review 99:Beds were clean & comfortable. Room was large & bright & warm. Breakfast was good.
Review 100:Meal available only in noisy Bar/Bistro, restaurant full with private group bookings, or at adjacent sister hotel, which also has the Spa facilities.
Review 101:Location, garden setting, comfortable lounges.
Review 102:had to walk accross to leisure facilities not good if weather inclement. Was charged £8:50 for a glass of wine which I felt was very high. When I complained I was told that the price was clearly stated on the wine list but no-one offerred us a wine list!! just felt 17 pounds for 2 glasses of wine was very expensive given it was bar type meals and not restuarant comfort. Also felt the menu was quite limited in the evening. There was no salad options and the daily specials specials did not change and on the last evening there was no special option left. Much of the property required replacement carpets many chairs had stains on or were worn and threadbare. Quite diissapointing overall
Review 103:Bed and rooom were comfortable the leisure facilities were good
Review 104:Only slight negative comment is about the large group of male golfer residents shouting and swearing in the bar on Friday night, so we struggled to hear ourselves talking at out own table. as did the couple at the next table to us... and same story again at breakfast... maybe a side room could have been provided for them?
Review 105:Loved the music venue- we went to a gig in our hotel which was brilliant. Spa and pool lovely. We ate dinner in the bar, and the food was delicious too beer battered haaddock, tartare sauce and fries. Breakfast buffet was splendid. Thanks for accommodating my special request for garden view room and for arranging tickets for the band on Friday. Many thanks to all the reception staff/ check in staff.
Review 106:The wedding disco which was below my room. I was told it would finish at 11.30 but went on to 12.30. Pretty unfair on guests staying at hotel who were not told when they booked or whilst at hotel. Unbelievably loud in my room...
Review 107:Generally everything was great
Review 108:None.
Review 109:Reasonable price and in a great location. The décor and the sports facilities are a little dated but functional and clean. The staff were very friendly and the hotel overall provided a peaceful base for my trip. 5 minutes drive from the beautiful Loch Leven and within an hour away by car to Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh.
Review 110:Just the eggs at breakfast - rubbery! That's all
Review 111:Location great for us, arrived late and squeezed food in - bonus. For a brief overnight stay it was what we needed
Review 112:Nothing that I did not like.
Review 113:High ceilings, windows that open - strong shower, clean, free wifi and excellent breakfast. Lovely staff on reception. Super value for money.
Review 114:My wife and I went for dinner in the jocks bar which is located in the hotel, quite expensive, food not up to standard
Review 115:The location, the room, the facilities
Review 116:Having thoroughly enjoyed a short break here last July, were most disappointed on our return visit.....Confusion as to whether bar food was being served...kitchen being re-painted.... had to cross main road in the dark and stumble over rough road to 'Barneys ? for evenng meal....On arrival we wera asked 'HAD WE BOOKED ?' We had not been told that we had to book !!!!! Meal not very satisfactory. Whole break very disappointing..
Review 117:Having stayed here on numerous occasions over the last twenty years, a few disappointments. Jocks Bar has experienced a makeover, furnishing and layout greatly improved, however, the menu was disappointing and availability was limited, ie no smoked haddock or salmon. Limitations on availability for evening meal also and as a result visited other establishments during our five day stay.
Review 118:Room very comfortable. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Review 119:I find it disappointing that Bar meals are advertised but on the last two occasions we visited have been turned away because you were "too busy"
Review 120:very attentive and friendly staff leisure facilities top class
Review 121:The hotel seemed disorganised. Seems there is no communication between departments. Breakfast table not set up for any groups who are travelling together. Staff tried to charge £5.00 for a very small scoop of ice cream (special request by a member of our party as not wanting to partake in other sweets offered.) The manager did remove the cost from the bill. Through no fault of the Hotel, we were kept awake by the band staying over on the Fri night, door banging trying to get into our rooms, very drunk and disorderly. Hotel very apologetic, offered wine as compensation but as none of us were drinking this was rejected. Negotiations ongoing about compensation. None of the above would stop us from staying at the hotel again. Staff very good
Review 122:The Staff were lovely and friendly. Rooms big, great with the dog. Saw a few people with dogs, good to know this hotel caters for them. Although the accommodation was very clean it did need a lick of paint, rooms starting to look tired. My family all meet up for the weekend. All said we had a lovely time. We all agreed we would be happy to go back for another visit. Staff very good,
Review 123:staff were a shambles, a different price for same drinks everytime i went to bar, room not tidy, disorganised chaos at breakfast, wrong orders at meal time, party of 12 getting turned away after pre-booking a table and no one knowing about it, shower non existant, joke joke joke
Review 124:good location
Review 125:I feel that the hotel could be so much better by doing the simplest of things. Like ensuring staff all wore matching and neat uniforms. Explaining where and when breakfast was on arrival and ensuring all the waitresses were as attentive and helpful as one ( a Young Eastern European sounding girl with long brown hair in a ponytail) A better set up to the downstairs sitting areas would be more beneficial ast husband and I would have liked to sit downstairs with a wine but felt there was nowhere to really do that if you weren't eating.
Review 126:I loved the huge room we had which felt so luxurious. I felt all the staff were really nice and really tried their hardest to help with everything they could. The leisure facilities were outstanding beautifully clean and well maintained Just want to say a HUGE Thankyou to the girl at reception who after finding out the kettle in our room wasn't working promptly got us her own brand new kettle from her staff quarter. What a kind lady :)
Review 127:It would have been good if there was a tv in the lounge area for special occasions such as rugby. Sister hostel's tv was broken.
Review 128:The size of the room, nice view of the garden. Friendly staff on reception. I think his name was William, young guy. Very knowledgable about the area.
Review 129:Realising the age of the hotel was in good condition decor needed a face lift light fixtures and fittings needing attention but bench at front of hotel would b an advantage but would defos stay yhrte again x
Review 130:Not too far from home lovely location staff were so attentive and pleasant rooms comfy and spacious food great
Review 131:No wi fi in bedroom. No lunches being served in hotel, no TV working or lunch being served in bar at sister hotel, we were allowed into golf club bar over the road from hotel, which was members only. We ended up in a pub up the road, watching the 6 nations rugby,ma hen we wanted to sit in the hotel..
Review 132:The only downfall was there was entertainment in the hotel which we would have thought as a resident there would be no cost but in fact hotel wanted £30 per couple.
Review 133:Comfortable and spacious room. Buffet breakfast good and friendly staff.
Review 134:I would have given full marks to the room if the heated towel rail in the bathroom had been working. It wasnt worth reporting for one nights stay.
Review 135:Lovely staff here and in Windlestrae at the leisure. Looking forward to staying linger next time.
Review 136:Spa in a building across the road and breakfast a bit chaotic, but these were minor issues. I would happily go back there!
Review 137:The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was large and admittedly not brand new (it's an old building) but clean, fresh looking, quiet and comfortable. The spa was very nice. The highlight of our stay was dinner at the restaurant within the hotel, which was not cheap (around £13 for a main), but everything was beautifully presented and incredibly flavoursome. Service was impeccable, one of the finest dining experience I had in Scotland!
Review 138:Batteries in TV remote were flat. Petty really but that's the only thing I could think of and I'm sure they'd of been changed if I'd of mentioned it.
Review 139:Facilities are excellent and the food was gorgeous.
Review 140:New menu introduced which is gastronomic delight within very reasonable price range - will very quickly become a focus for those that love great food so well done chef for providing something that the cities will be envious of. Room was spacious, clean and lovely and warm. Complimentary spa facilities at partner hotel was a tropical oasis in the winter surroundings. A really beautiful break for my wife and I with the surprise find being the new menu...
The Fine Print
