Reviews for The View Hotel
Review 1:Pillows a little hard and could do with a light above the desk/dressing table.
Review 2:Excellent hotel, very good location, very clean, nice décor, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 3:A bit corporate feeling but despite that, friendly in feel. Boring beers at the bar and restaurant dull - eat out
Review 4:Despite relatively new (40 years!) you could open the windows!
Review 5:for the cost there was nothing not to like. If I have to be critical the buffet breakfast could have a little hotter. I have paid a lot more for a lot less
Review 6:no nonsense, clean, modern best VFM for some time
Review 7:Bed was not that comfortable and the breakfast was self service would of liked it to be served
Review 8:The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and hotel was in a good location
Review 9:The only negative comment is a very small one.....there were no tissues in the room!
Review 10:A lovely contemporary hotel with very helpful and friendly staff in a perfect location
Review 11:Party time, good food, reasonable prices, great food and service, Made very welcome from the front desk, to all of the staff that I talked to. The Christmas dinner was very good, prompt service, and very keen restraint staff .And what a breakfast
Review 12:The bed was very hard!
Review 13:We attended a clients Christmas party which was very well catered. Nothing is too much trouble with the staff all working hard to ensure a good time is had by all.
Review 14:Restaurant menu did not change,3/4 choices not good if you stayed several nights, they told us they where so busy with xmas party's they had decided to not change menu each evening. Breakfast was very dried up, hard fried eggs,no service bringing toast coffee tea, Odd square cups mugs.
Review 15:The hotel is fine, bit shady at front tiles missing
Review 16:Stayed for 1 night, was a really lovely hotel, great service, beautiful room, hotel bar/lounge was really nice and breakfast was delicious too! Would definitely recommend!
Review 17:There was absolutely nothing we disliked.
Review 18:We loved everything about this hotel. It is the only hotel in Eastbourne we would stay in. We have been to some extremely disgusting hotels in Eastbourne before finding this one. This is the second time we have stayed here and there will be many more.
Review 19:This is picky. The rooms to the rear of the hotel do not have great views but the curtain arrengements ensure you do not need to look out if you don't want to.
Review 20:The view is a modern hotel right on the sea front. The rooms are very well equipped. The breakfast is buffet style with an excellent choice and the dining room is facing the sea.
Review 21:Nothing that I didn't like.
Review 22:This is a great hotel - one of the best I have stayed in in many years of business travel. Superb staff and very well appointed throughout.
Review 23:I think it was expensive There was no soap in the room for hand washing Also no moisturiser?? Pillows are pretty hard
Review 24:Balcony Breakfast Staff Decor
Review 25:Stayed for a company party and saw that we could have had room £30.00 cheaper as it is a special deal that's an offer of the view hotel The waiting staff were mainly from overseas and very helpful but a young English waiter couldn't be bothered and everything was too much trouble. The breakfast very good and the staff were extremely helpful. The bedroom view was not one to write home about room 420 5/12/15
Review 26:Bed extremely comfortable, Quality cotton sheets bathroom well stocked breakfast plenty of choice and seating very comfortable and nothing too much trouble for the staff
Review 27:Finding parking spaces can be a pain, but the process of getting a permit from hotel was easy and hassle free
Review 28:Clean rooms and comfy beds. Good choice and standard of breakfast.
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:The reception staff were very friendly and the room was excellent with a beautiful sea view. Bar staff very accommodating at midnight when we wanted drinks and sandwiches after a theatre show.
Review 31:Extended work visit for an extra leisure night. Staff arranged for me to stay in the same room which meant no movement of all my stuff. I also was allowed to leave my luggage after vacating room for a few hours to enjoy walk at Beachy Head.
Review 32:specs of blood on duvet sheet, shower was not fixed to the wall properly and shower itself didn't work that well
Review 33:excellent food friendly staff bed comfortable
Review 34:Only Superior rooms are wheelchair adapted and you have to pay the full cost of the superior room even though the balcony is not accessible. Beds far to hard, caused pain
Review 35:The views from the room were fantastic, the breakfast was superb. For non disabled people the rooms were lovely
Review 36:The evening meal in the restaurant could of had a slightly wider range, we didn't get the meal that we expected as they had run out, what we did have was good.
Review 37:The room was very comfortable and everywhere was very clean, the staff were pleasant. The breakfast was lovelly.
Review 38:Didn't arrive till late but was greet by pleasant lady at reception. Room was very cold and obviously problem with air conditioning. Didn't mention problem till following morning when staff were very apologetic and offered discount on room. Wouldn't hesitate on staying again
Review 39:clean and comfortable, excellent breakfast, excellent location, lovely view staff friendly, going extra mile to ensure enjoyable stay
Review 40:The staff and hotel very friendly. I arrived early and checked into my room at 9am. I stayed in a beautiful room with a wonderful view of sea front. Amazing value for money included breakfast. Defiantly stay again
Review 41:Dinner was not good. It looked like school dinners. Presentation was poor and there was only a limited choice of 3 starters, mains and deserts. Bar area was poorly staffed - had to wait ages to get served.
Review 42:The room was very good, very clean and good bed linen.
Review 43:The fact that at breakfast it is now completely self service and I much prefer tea and coffee bought to the table rather than making it myself, especially as there was only decaf or speciality teas not normal tea. Couldnt getting the heating to turn up in the room
Review 44:The location and the bar were very good
Review 45:Only a tiny issue which was the remote control for the TV didn't work.
Review 46:Fantastic view, with great sized balcony. The room was lovely and quiet and had everything I needed.
Review 47:Second trip to the view and in a different room from last time and I'm sorry to say the bed was not very comfortable a little hard for us, other wise a lovely room. Didn't have the best view but as we arrived in the dark it didn't matter to us. Dinner in the bar was disappointing a very greasy meal unlike the last time.
Review 48:The is the second time with have stayed at the view (2 different rooms) The hotel is lovely and quiet and the new breakfast room was really nice love the colours. A very well kept hotel and location is handy for the shops.
Review 49:Nothing really
Review 50:This hotel was really good value, a more than decent room, if a little small. I would book a double for single occupancy next time. Just a bit of faff with parking, although only across the road, and needs a permit in the window.
Review 51:The restaurant is shared with guests who are staying for conferences at the hotel, and can get very busy on occasions.
Review 52:The upgrades to the hotel continue and the new restaurant has been open for a while. It is a very good hotel and sets a high standard.
Review 53:Gaz was not there so we missed seeing him again. He was on paternity leave. Congratulations.
Review 54:We stayed here because of Gaz the barman's friendliness to us on visiting the bar on previous visits to Eastbourne. We were not disappointed. The staff were professional, very friendly and helpful. At breakfast the staff noticed that my 97 year old Uncle needed some help and were immediately attentive. The bar staff and receptionists were also fantastic.
Review 55:A rearly stupid thing. But the reception door is tucked around the side Not rearly a problem tho
Review 56:Great position. Girl on reception desk was excellent We had a prob with t v couldn't get. BBC This was delt with quickly and fixed Room was great. Clean and tidy. Breakfast staff were great. And food excellent. A great stay
Review 57:Breakfast used to be better. Large loaves of bread/rolls which guests were handling and cutting and putting back in basket. Very unhygienic. I would not eat it! Toast etc used to be served at table. Not impressed. Rooms looking a but 'tired'. Mini fridge would be welcome. Balcony area not clean. Old, worn bathroom towels.
Review 58:Stayed many times over the past few years. Good location.
Review 59:Anything on the room service menu that includes batter should be avoided, other than that it was fine and offered good value for money. We found it difficult to get the a/c to the right temperature, we were either slightly too hot or too cold.
Review 60:Beautiful location. Would really recommend a sea view room, it was really worth the extra money. The staff were fantastic, very polite and happy to help. The hotel is spotlessly clean and has a great ambience. The bar and lounge will be lovely once the building works are complete. We tried room service which was a bit hit and miss! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.
Review 61:We had a real problem with our room during our stay. There was a loud clicking noise a bit like a broken extractor fan that came on unexpectedly at half two. This lasted for twenty mins or so and repeated throughout the night. My partner and I ended up absolutely exhausted. This is a shame because otherwise the hotel waslovely. The staff did take 8 quid off our bill. Not quite the price of a good nights sleep, but it will do. l
Review 62:Would have liked a bigger choice of simple hot snacks in the bar area.
Review 63:Single newly refurbished room with balcony and sea view. Usually singles are relegated to a cupboard at the back of hotels. Room service prompt and breakfast excellent. Near theatres.
Review 64:The Pillows, they were so hard really need to replace these.
Review 65:The disabled room, we booked this for my mother and her friend and it was excellent, very spacious.
Review 66:Communal toilets need upgrading but otherwise they were clean
Review 67:Lovely reception staff ... well the staff in general were fine .. Very clean .. Modern room ...very quiet...nice breakfast....nice bar and foyer with background music . This I would regard as my best stay yet in Eastbourne.
Review 68:It's a shame they have gone over to machine coffee at breakfast.
Review 69:I love The View. I have stayed twice for a conference and will be booking again for next year. The single rooms are spacious with a fabulous view of the sea. The rooms are clean, service is great, wonderful choice for breakfast, and the whole place is just clean and fresh. Oh yes, the bath towels are bath sheets you can actually wrap round yourself!
Review 70:The food is OK but certainly not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel, buffet style breakfast and dinner with overcooked eggs and black pudding and a very small selection at dinner, in fact the salad bar had only a quarter the selection of a Harvester restaurant and while the price is only £18 we had lunch in a restaurant on Sunday with a choice of 6 starters, 6 main Courses and 6 sweets with linen napkins and tablecloths for only £24 so I do not consider £ 18 to be good value for money.
Review 71:Lovely location, sea view with balcony and clean and functional room, but I have stayed at equally good hotels for far less money.
Review 72:The view was breathtaking, the room was clean and comfortable with all I needed, breakfast was in a lovely room with sea views and a good selection of foods, hot drinks and a range of coffees. Staff were friendly and helpful
Review 73:Excellent view from balcony. Single room was very good. In some hotels you feel single rooms are second class. Not in this hotel! Excellent! Friendly helpful staff.
Review 74:I had a fantastic weekend, the hotel was immaculate the staff were friendly and welcoming. The view from the front balcony was amazing the breakfast was tasty and there was a lot of choice. The room was clean and the bed was highly comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel.
Review 75:Very friendly staff and very helpful when it came to allergies as my partner is gluten free and they catered for her needs. Brilliant view from our room.
Review 76:We were very impressed with the staff at reception who were very helpful particularly the young man who was there on Tuesday morning. Our room 404 was great overlooking sea and having sun all day. Wish we could have stayed longer. Graham and pauline
Review 77:The bar closed early on Saturday evening as they had 2 functions but rather disappointing as it was supposed to be open until midnight. They had staff floating in and out but not the same with the shutter across!!
Review 78:I loved having a balcony overlooking the sea.
Review 79:The buffet breakfast was a bit disappointing and we had to keep reminding Staff that they had forgotten to bring the tea. Toast needed going through the toaster twice because it was turned down too low.
Review 80:The bedroom was really nice with a good view of the seafront and Wish Tower. The bed was also very comfortable.
Review 81:No consideration for disabled guests in the breakfast room. Breakfast sometimes barely warm.
Review 82:My room had a balcony with a fantastic view. Good choice of breakfast. Very helpful reception staff. Opposite beach, bandstand and theatres in walking distance.
Review 83:Should have booked a double room - the single bed was too small for me, but I went for cheap as possible.
Review 84:£50 for a sea view room including breakfast? Excellent value for money! Lovely spacious room on the 7th floor and absolutely spotless.
Review 85:Breakfast: We were told to be seated and someone would take tea/coffee orders…no one did. Bowl that I had for my fruit in was filthy. Buffet area was a mess of electric extension leads. No milk or butter on table and there was supposed to be. Toaster didn't work and dining staff didn't seem interested and were thin on the ground.
Review 86:We had last room which was very expensive because it was a family room, but was very nice
Review 87:My only problem was that I could not turn off the air conditioning (my problem, I should have asked Reception) and it was a windy night so there was an annoying outside noise.
Review 88:The quality of the rooms and bathrooms are excellent; clean, fresh and welcoming.
Review 89:No face cloths in the bathroom stayed for two nights and the bath item that had been used were not replenished. Served luke warm tea at breakfast
Review 90:Staff were quick when our safe locked us out
Review 91:Cigarette butts on our (no smoking) balcony. Dowdy bar area. Average breakfast food served in crowded dining area. Ignored by breakfast staff. Luke warm coffee. One 2 slice toaster to cater for the whole dining room. On leaving, staff did not say goodbye or ask if we had enjoyed our stay.
Review 92:Location. Comfy bed.
Review 93:Both twin beds were extremely hard as to were the pillows. The room didn't have a full length mirror so couldn't check on appearance properly. Our room had a bland, 'corporate' decor. At breakfast tea was served in mugs, not quite what I expected from a hotel in this price range. Unable to get wifi to work inside hotel.
Review 94:The Hotel is in a prime location, Being able to sit on the balcony on a sunny day was a real bonus. The hotel gets a 10 our of 10 from me for cleanliness.
Review 95:The Restaurant had very little variety of choices.
Review 96:The stunning view of the sea from our balcony. Friendliness of the staff. The variety of choices at breakfast. All the places to see were at a walking distance. 24 hour reception. The food at the bar.
Review 97:With the new resturant on mezz floor with lovely views across the front the patio area outside did not look very clean and in need of a good clean!
Review 98:Excellent location, very clean rooms, fine dinning, lovely views to the front, well designed Hotel. The three elevators in the centre of the Hotel is just perfectly located.
Review 99:Disappointed as the work on the hotel had not finished so as they said it would be
Review 100:The staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble stayed here before and will stay again
Review 101:Very short staffed. We had to wait over 20 minutes to order a cold drink and over half hour just to order food.
Review 102:The staff were very friendly and the location was brilliant.
Review 103:Pillows were awful ,they were so hard ,like sleeping on sand bags .first night sleep was terrible ,had to buy pillows for second night .compared to other hotels stayed in price was a bit to high for rooms .
Review 104:Hotel friendly and clean
Review 105:Staff were brilliant. Even sent me an item back I had left in the room. We had a short wait to get a breakfast table as expected. The breakfast was much fresher than most hotel cooked breakfasts.
Review 106:As it was our wedding night (which I had informed them of in advance) i thought that a little more effort would be made ie a rose on the bed or a note to say congratulations. On our honeymoon we had both of these things at both hotels and we received a room upgrade at both hotels also.
Review 107:The communication before the trip was fast and very informative. They were flexible about what time we checked in as it was our wedding night.
Review 108:The only downside was the breakfast! Breakfast was held in a suite as the restaurant had a booking, but the suite wasn't big enough so we had to join a queue. The staff were doing their very best and were running around trying to clear tables and re-lay them and bring people in from the queue. The food on the whole was great but the croissants were very stale!
Review 109:Loved the hotel, room, bar and outside terrace really good along with the 'view'!!
Review 110:The weather, no fault of the hotel though.
Review 111:All the staff are friendly, the room 525 was excellent, have now stayed there at least three times I have never had to complain about anything. Would return.
Review 112:The view from "The View" is outstanding. In the centre of Eastbourne, it creates an impression that you can see everything there is to see. It is only when you start exploring that you find so much more
Review 113:The dining room was small but there are alterations in progress at hotel, so maybe that was only a temporary dining venue.
Review 114:Hotel was clean room was good with a lot of space.
Review 115:Bar area was not that homely but functional
Review 116:The staff were very helpfull and our room was a good size very clean with a great balcony and view of the sea
Review 117:Entrance to the hotel is confusing when approaching from the main street. Cups & saucers are preferable to mugs at breakfast, as there is no where to place used teaspoons!
Review 118:Great location, with very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms well furnished with large, comfortable bed and quality fittings. Would recommend sea view rooms as a must.
Review 119:Bad service from the bar on first night of stay. No car park but there is plenty of parking on the sea front, however staying in August, parking is at a premium so can be tricky but liked the £1 parking voucher available from hotel reception.
Review 120:The premier room with balcony on the front overlooking sea was really comfortable. Free wi-fi all over hotel with good reception. Breakfast selection was very good.
Review 121:Were informed when booking refurbishing work would be finished 31st July. We booked 20th Aug for 2 nights refurbishing still ongoing, the view from our balcony was obstructed by scaffolding.
Review 122:The location of hotel and the parking for a £1 a day.
Review 123:Not being told building work was still going on at hotel. We only get a couple of days away each year as we are carers, also it was our anniversary. I feel we were cheated of our break.
Review 124:Hotel by the sea.
Review 125:Breakfast. If you go early, about 7.30am, all is good but go about 9.00am, nothing really works. Very long wait for table. No butter on tables, no plates, no glasses. The self serve food warmers were left empty for too long and everything seemed very unorganised.
Review 126:Love the room. Staff always helpful. Always ckesn
Review 127:WIFI is useless. You have to pay to connect to the internet
Review 128:Fabulous position on Grand Parade and wonderful viewing platform on 7th floor. Wonderful large room with all mod-cons
Review 129:We did pay quite alot for the room but it was spacious and very clean.
Review 130:I had quite a bad fall at the seafront. When I arrived at the hotel a lovely member of staff helped me and did first aid. Bertie is a credit to the hotel. Beautiful room. Lovely breakfast.
Review 131:There is still some refurbishment taking place, and the restaurant looks as though it will be better when this is complete.
Review 132:Friendliness of staff, decor and fittings in the room, which was of a good size. The hotel is refurbishing its interior, and we benefited from this. It is well positioned on the sea front.
Review 133:I thought there could have been more facilities (pool table or games room). Although room was nice it was very expensive.
Review 134:I liked the location of hotel, the balcony , and cleanliness of room.
Review 135:No parking. We had to park in the street where you can which is a challenge on a busy day and buy parking permits that need to be upgraded each day when the parking time starts. Small area for breakfast meaning queues. However, staff really do their best.
Review 136:The view is really lovely. The staff on reception were really good. We left early and they went out of their way to make sure we got some breakfast.
Review 137:Only annoyed by being woken up by the drilling. Told on booking.com that refurbishments would finish by the end of July. After being woken up by drilling the fire alarm went off and we shit ourselves but it was only a test. Would have been nice to have been given a heads up about that.
Review 138:Loved it all.
