Reviews for Drumnadrochit Hotel

Review 1:Our room happened to be a ways up the hill, so walking could be a problem for some people.

Review 2:Location near the Loch Ness Museum and Urquhart Castle. Food was very good, too.

Review 3:Although the room's was well equipped with plenty of coffee sugar ect. The rooms very tired and really need updating it felt a bit clostrafobic.

Review 4:The staff were very helpful and friendly. And the food was excellent.

Review 5:The Staff, (Dave, Gaynor & Shella), were very accommodating with my personal request(s) & made the stay a very enjoyable visit once again for myself & Cula, (the Dowg). Brill Room, Nice, Quite & Peaceful, post my Operation. Intend to re-visit next year - if all goes well in the future. A personal touch goes a Long Way ! Thank you Guys.

Review 6:Wafer-thin walls separating bedrooms. A matter of luck who your 'next door neighbours' happen to be. If they are heavy snorers - a very common attribute, it appears - a pair of ear wads is to be recommended.

Review 7:Spaciousness of rooms, friendly and helpful staff, excellent meals, fast Internet comms. , super view from large picture windows

Review 8:Room had no air con and felt stuffy.

Review 9:Location was fantastic and the staff at the front desk and in the restaurant were amazing. Very friendly and helpful.

Review 10:The sheets weren't really clean...

Review 11:For breakfast you can choose from a menu and your breakfast is freshly made (included in our rate). There was a kettle in the room and tea, coffee and chocolate.

Review 12:Fantastic service, flexibility in check out times was infinitely helpful and the restaurant was definitely at the same high standard as the hotel itself. Will stay again.

Review 13:Shower was pathetic and out dated.

Review 14:I would of been dissatisfied with the accommodation had I paid anymore but for an overnight stay I can't really fault it. It was a lodge type room spacious, clean and with basic amenities. The shower was terrible and does need seeing to no water pressure and was hot and cold throughout. The towels were a good size something I've been moaning about throughout my 2 week road trip stopping at hotels. Not useful though without the shower working properly! !! Beds fairly comfy, TV and amenities fine. Noise was ok for us in the annex as they call it on booking/com but perhaps we were lucky with our neighbours. Breakfast tasty. It was £54 for 2 people b & b. No complaints there and after travelling around we have had different scales of accommodation. This really isn't that bad! If they updated the carpets and curtains to a lighter color it would improve it a lot and of course the bathroom! The restaurant is good and the staff, particular Sheila on reception who is very accommodating and friendly and Dave who has a good sense of humor and livens up the restaurant all of the staff are lovely. Thank you.

Review 15:Not unpleasant, but woodland cabin type accommodation a bit "Tired" in décor and the walls were very thin you could hear next door talk/shower/flush toilet etc.

Review 16:Good easy to find, Staff very pleasant and happy to please. Rooms were clean.

Review 17:Dirty room. Nothing to see or to do around. All too expensive. I do not recommend to my worst enemy. Too expensive. Thanks to my bad experience, I'll never go again.

Review 18:Absolutely nothing

Review 19:That we couldn't stay longer.

Review 20:Great family hotel with tasty cooked Scottish breakfast. The manager dances a mean highland jig, kept our 22 month son highly entertained.

Review 21:nothing specially, only that breakfast is not buffet system, you order for it & girls are little mean to reply that you had enough & that others too need food

Review 22:Location very nice, Quiet place, nice scenic views

Review 23:Rooms were very average. Beds very average. Toilet seat was broken and didn't flush well. Food in the restaurant in the evening was terrible.

Review 24:The staff were friendly. Breakfast ok.

Review 25:Very poor sound proofing, you can here all the noise from the next rooms.

Review 26:The breakfast was excellent " Full Scottish " The location of the hotel.

Review 27:Tv needed retuned every 10-15 mins but not a issue as wasn't there for the tv

Review 28:Friendly and helpful staff! Room was a nice size with a modern feeling and a clean bathroom

Review 29:Rooms were old, cleanliness dubious. Extremely expensive for that kind of quality, even during the high season.

Review 30:Conveniently located near Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness. Friendly reception staff. Rooms were big.

Review 31:The breakfast wasn't to good. It arrived cold. And the tables were not wiped clean. Which I had to ask. This should be done when the table has been cleared.

Review 32:The staff were lovely and were attentive to our needs.

Review 33:Unfriendly welcome from reception who didn't have a record of my reservation - blamed Booking.com. Room was dirty and even had previous guests' used toiletries lying around and bins had not been emptied. Breakfast quality was fine but I waited 30 minutes for a bacon roll which left me late for an appointment - staff seemed unbothered.

Review 34:Location - beautiful village in very scenic surroundings.

Review 35:The bathroom and bedroom could have been cleaner. The shower curtain was badly stained and the carpet in the bedroom had clearly not been vacuumed.

Review 36:Staff very friendly and location was good, being right on the A82.

Review 37:it reminded us of something you would see on Rt66 in America. If you are coming to see Nessie you have to stay here, the museum is a must see and they also have a boat that picks you up at the front door and will take you out on a lake tour. The room was good and the food at their restaurant was also pretty good.

Review 38:It was a bit too far from the lake, but the bus from Inverness will stop right next to the hotel.

Review 39:Angela was extremely helpful and welcoming, do not hesitate to ask her for advice.

Review 40:Bedroom was clean, beds were comfortable, but furnishings were dated and some fittings of poor quality.

Review 41:The staff were superb ! Polite, friendly and helpful. A good quality breakfast with good service. Other meals taken in the hotel were also good. Free entertainment with a local theme. Very good price.

Review 42:poor breakfast. Waited 25 minutes for a plate of porridge . Scottish breakfast was plentiful but was not freshly prepared so was more or less inedible. l

Review 43:convenient location Room was spacious, comfortable and clean.

Review 44:Absolutely NOTHING

Review 45:Friendly Staff, good food, good entertainment on the Friday and Saturday night. Dog friendly rooms, working wi fi, good parking - Brilliant Place....

Review 46:We were in a really troublesome situation, with our booking confirmation being a bit messy. We are really grateful to the staff for finding a solution to our impediment and not just casting us out.

Review 47:Check in was awful. Part way through being checked in staff member answered phone and left us for 20 minutes. Told the wrong times for breakfast.

Review 48:Freshly cooked breakfast

Review 49:Bathroom " tired"- cracked basin, no shower gel in dispenser, no peg/ rail for towel. Neither breakfast or reception open on time - delay checking out.

Review 50:Staff were friendly and helped as far as they could.

Review 51:Poor attitude of receptionist when there was a discrepency between web price and hotel price! No hot water in morning and bar didn't open till 6.00pm!

Review 52:Locality. Had been hill climbing nearby.

Review 53:Noisy drunken Germans next door having a party in room, walls very thin, complained and manager did come and sort it out for us.

Review 54:We were doing John O Groats to Lands End bike ride, didn't explain this when booking but manager found a safe place for our bikes in laundry room, very helpful.

Review 55:Service in dining room quite slow feel staff need to pay attention more and focus on one thing at a time

Review 56:The location as it was extremely close to Loch Ness and inverness

Review 57:Rooms in the annexe are overpriced for what they offer.....comfortable but small.p

Review 58:The location is ideal for visiting Inverness, The Highlands and Skye.

Review 59:It was a small walk away from the Loch and Urquhart Castle. Plus woodland walks that were very enjoyable. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful. The only bad thing was the bed, very hard but that's personal preference. Rooms were spacious and had everything I needed.

Review 60:when we went to the dinning room to have a meal around 5.30- 6.00 we were told that there was a coach trip in and we could not eat till 8.00 so we went somewhere else and had a lovely meal. Also when we arrived about 2.00 the some rooms the doors were open and not cleaned bedding on the floor hoovers lying around, they were still like that at 5PM . Staff did not make you feel welcome. Our Swedish visitors were not happy at all, neither were we.

Review 61:Rooms were comfortable, and clean.

Review 62:I didn't like to leave. :(

Review 63:The whole experience was amazing. From the welcome you receive when you first arrive throughout the whole holiday, I could not fault a thing. They were welcoming, friendly and I wouldnt hesitate to stay there again.

Review 64:breakfast was disappointing. We both chose potatoes scones, mushrooms and grilled tomatoes as we don't eat meat. We were served a single scone, a couple of mushrooms and a grilled tomato which was poorly presented and only just warm, in comparison people taking the full breakfast, seemed to have a generous portion which was well presented.

Review 65:Staff were polite and helpful

Review 66:si sono dimenticati la colazione, attesa di un'ora e mezza per mangiare, bagno da ospedale, stanza buia, non confortevole

Review 67:bella posizione, stanza grande, parcheggio comodo, buon wifi

Review 68:The hotel itself was starting to get a bit shabby & could do with a bit spending on it.

Review 69:The staff were very friendly & couldn't do enough to help make it a very nice stay.

Review 70:Our outside cabin was a bit on the small side with walls a bit thin. Having said that we did not have noisy neighbours and we did not go there to spend much time in the room anyway.

Review 71:Excellent friendly and helpful management and staff, nothing too much trouble. Hot and well presented food. Nice bathroom with plenty of clean towels and linen. Tea, coffee and biscuits refreshed everyday in our room. Car parking right outside the door of our outside cabin.

Review 72:These rooms need maintenance. The bathroom facilities are old, and need replaced, especially the stools.

Review 73:Staff is nice and wants to help make your visit a pleasant one. The bar manager helped us get our bathroom stool to flush. There was no other person available to help.

Review 74:Service was quite slow. On our last day it took nearly an hour between sitting down and our cooked breakfast arriving. And the room was cleaned after 5pm.

Review 75:Great location and very reasonable prices. Close to Loch Ness centre and 2 miles from Urquhart Castle. Staff were very friendly and helpful and there is live music on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Review 76:Thought the rooms had a view of Loch Ness instead of only being able to see it for a viewing window else where. The bar was only open at certain times.

Review 77:Rooms were a good size and comfortable. Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was satisfying.

Review 78:The bed was very uncomfortable and small. The walls were very thin. Cleaning staff were a bit invasive (i.e. no knocking). Food was over cooked and poorly prepared. Breakfast of a poor standard (mostly microwaved). Had to ask for cutlery. Dirty laundry lying around hallways.

Review 79:The bar and restaurant staff were helpful. Live entertainment was enjoyable. Hotel was in a good location, close to all local amenities. Shower in the bathroom was outstanding.

Review 80:The room was small and claustrophobic in a group of bungalow type rooms at the back of the hotel. We were told that they were better than those in the main building. The receptionist had no idea where our room was located and sent us up to the second floor of the main building, when we returned she said she had never been in the rooms and had no idea of the layout. Luckily a very friendly staff member showed us to our room. At dinner one of our meals was inedible, dry tough meat devoid of gravy with a sad shard of pastry perched on top, supposedly steak and ale pie. There were very few diners in the restaurant, easy to see why, we checked out after one night as the whole experience was depressing.

Review 81:A couple of the staff were very friendly and did their best to help us

Review 82:Although pets are allowed in the rooms they are not allowed anywhere else in the building which meant we could not have dinner at the restaurant or go for drinks and enjoy the entertainment. I also booked a double room and we got 2 single beds!!!!

Review 83:The staff were very friendly and the room was excellent for a family

Review 84:Had booked a premium room but ended up in one of the cabins round the back. Felt like we were staying in a garden shed. Everything was pine, including the furniture. No phone reception, and could only get 3 channels on the TV.

Review 85:The food in the restaurant was good, but a little over-priced for such a small portion. The breakfast in the morning was really good. We were walking The Great Glen Way and were supplied with an excellent packed lunch.

Review 86:I arrived after driving over 300 miles, so I was tired and wanted a rest. The room was not ready, so I have to wait another 45 minutes. When finally getting in the room the cups and spoons were dirty and not fit for use as they had not been cleaned after the previous guests use. I was advised that the restaurant closed at 9. I go up at 8.30 and get turned away as they are not serving food. I then had to go out to find food for my daughter who is under 2. I won't mention how undercooked the breakfast was. The best part of my stay was checking out early. My advise avoid the hotel at all costs.

Review 87:Leaving early due to the unhelpful staff

Review 88:Couldn't find our reservation at check-in, room was quite tiny. Not much of an effort was made but fine for one night.

Review 89:Location was great. Quite convenient for hiking the GGW.

Review 90:We were really impressed with the size of room! Fantastic value for money! Lovely staff. Girl on reception was very helpful and friendly on arrival. Cot was set up for us, as arrived later on.

Review 91:for my taste the bed was too soft, but I do like a hard bed.

Review 92:The staff was amazing. Super-friendly and helpful. Very understanding with our dog that we brought and it was no problem at all. The food in the restaurant was good as well. Apparently there is live traditional music on fridays in the restaurant/pub.

Review 93:The location for day trips is ideal to get to isle of Skye boat trip driving round loch ness (look at the other side) fabulous countryside and great walks.

Review 94:On a recent charity walk of the Great Glen Way, my wife surprised me and booked me this hotel instead of another night camping! I was so grateful as my feet were so sore and blistered after 65 miles so far...I arrived at the hotel to a friendly, warm greeting from staff a comfortable bed and a bath, which I subsequently spent the next few hours soaking in! Bed was wonderfully comfortable, room was clean and breakfast was great the next morning!

Review 95:the restaurant and bar were shut .the tv had 3 channels which worked when it wanted to.the bath water was dark brown which may be ok but for someone who is used to it ,but it put me off big time.i wont be staying again .I have just booked a weeks holiday in Greece for £119 I paid over 60 for one night here ,can you tell me why ?

Review 96:location

Review 97:Wafer-thin walls between rooms makes it hard to settle down for the night unless other guests talk in whispers. Better soundproofing would help.

Review 98:No-hassle processing of check-in and checkout process. Prompt, efficient meal service.

Review 99:No one at the reception when checking in, I had to look around for staff! The toilet seat was broken, bathroom can be cleaner. staff went in my room before checking out, luckily my dog didn't run away.

Review 100:Location, allowance of pet and little cottage style.

Review 101:The building maybe 30 years old and the decor has seen better days. They get a band in on Friday nights, but nearby places will serve good meals too.

Review 102:I was treated to a nice double room away from any noise. Comfy bed in a decent sized room. G Good evening meals and breakfasts and advice on local walks. Close to Glen Affric, brilliant for photos. Good location. Nessie Exhibition was terific, very fair and informative.

Review 103:In need of refurbishment, last decorated in the 1970, nice avocado bathroom suite. Walls of the room had no sound proofing, so we were woken many times through the night. Also no view of the loch from the hotel, thought the picture on the Web site was a little miss leading.

Review 104:Great friendly staff, and the hotel was clean.

Review 105:When we checked in we noticed the light in the landing area going up the stairs was not working. We told the female receptionist and she said she would get an electrician out the next day. I said you don't need an electrician to change a light bulb, she used the old excuse about "health and safety" that they must use an electrician to do such a job. In the end when we checked out two days later the light bulb was still not changed. We asked the maid to come back 30 minutes later to clean the room. She never came back. Consequently we had to ask for clean towels and a toilet roll (it was only 1/2 a roll when we checked in). The room smelt of dampness and stale. We could not open the window as the cafe staff used that outside area to smoke. The staff (reception and cafe) were not rude, but definitely not friendly.

Review 106:Location

Review 107:Annex room 3. Desparately needs redecoration if only a coat of paint. Facilities ok but felt very much like a single for single. Functional

Review 108:Great staff and public areas excellent

Review 109:the bedrooms in the annexe were very tired looking and sparse. the are badly needing to be updated. The walls in the bathroom were damp. The price for the room was far too dear for the accommodation.

Review 110:The food was good in the restaurant and also the breakfast. The restaurant staff were very helpful and efficient.

Review 111:Very poor breakfast. Low quality cheap food and everything ran out just after 9am with no more food forth coming.

Review 112:Room was very clean. Bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water.

Review 113:Room was dank, dismal, dirty and carpet was stained. Cobwebs on window and light fitting that I requested to be removed. While we were out it was done but someone stood on the bed to clean the light fitting and all the dirt was lying on the bed!!!! The bathroom was clean enough but a throw back to the seventies. We were offered another room but this was in an annex at the back of the hotel and although the room was bigger it was still dank and dismal and again the carpet was stained. Bathroom was a bit better but some blue mould in and around the shower. Beds are small singles and are cheap, low to the floor with cheap uncomfortable mattresses. Once the duvet got any body heat there was a rather unpleasant smell. We went for a meal in the restaurant, again the staff and service was ok and the food although not anywhere near the best we have had it was edible. This is most definately not a three star hotel.

Review 114:Some of the staff are trying very hard and are friendly enough. Breakfast was very acceptable with plenty of choice and fresh.

Review 115:No problems at all.

Review 116:The location was great, so central, the Loch Ness tour shuttle picked us up at the door - and breakfast was included and also great!

Review 117:nowhere to sit after meal and have a drink with friends. short of tables when busy for breakfast

Review 118:food excellent big choice very friendly staff nice dining room

Review 119:Condition of building fabric was poor Entrance to room #2 building had rotten wood that was not repaired and evience of water ingress Building condition in general was shabby

Review 120:Efficient service Clean room Food was acceptable for evening meal and breakfast

Review 121:Economies appear to have been made regarding basic facilities. It is the only 5-star hotel room I've ever seen that had no clock. The television was analogue only, and therefore merely a useless ornament. The room appears to have been furnished from a pound shop, the bed in particular being usable but hardly comfortable: certainly not woth the £95 I paid.

Review 122:Staff were efficient and attentive. The room was impressively clean & attractively decorated. The location, as well as the quality of the food and service were highly satisfactory.

Review 123:We got there about 9pm and there were no restaurants open. That would be my only concern.

Review 124:We could only stay for one day...unfortunately. The staff were excellent, the location was amazing and we took a great boat tour of Loch Ness. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland and Scotland. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and had a great atmosphere.

Review 125:Noisy floor and can hear plumbing when neighbouring rooms are using it.

Review 126:Next to everything. Lochness exhibition, pick up for boat ride on loch ness, beautiful location.

Review 127:We were very appreciative of the help we were given with navigating the Loch and seeing the castle- the attendant at the desk sat with us and explained directions, gave advice and offered help until we felt confidant. We were leaving too early the next morning to make the breakfast, so the attendant also went ahead and packed us delicious brown bag lunches instead. Thank you!

Review 128:Friendly staff, lovely food, perfect location and good facilities

Review 129:Good quality across the board. The room and breakfast were very good

Review 130:Food was outstanding but hotel a little dated and for that I felt a bit overpriced

Review 131:Fabulous location

Review 132:Very friendly staff, good location, mealsfine

Review 133:Dinner could have been better

Review 134:Size of room and bathroom , friendly staff and close to loch ness. Excellent breakfast although dinner was only ok

Review 135:Nothing

Review 136:Good location for a 1 or 2night stop. Very friendly, helpful staff

Review 137:Hotel very tired in need of some attention

Review 138:The staff were very pleasant and food was good.
