Reviews for Kirklands Hotel

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:Staff were very friendly and helpful. The owners were really nice and have created a little oasis at the hotel . Dinner was fabulous and breakfast superb. Our dog slept in the car as she loves it so we never need to use pet friendly hotels and didn't ask if this one is or not.

Review 3:I took my son and 3 of his pals away overnight for a birthday treat. The family suite was great. The boys had plenty of room to relax in the large lounge. WIFI worked well, shower worked well and breakfast was good.

Review 4:The staff are very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent customer service. Beautiful rooms, spacious and comfy. Also the best bacon sandwich for breakfast ever :)

Review 5:There wasn't a thing we didn't like!!!

Review 6:We loved everything! The rooms were huge, the beds were like sleeping on a soft fluffy cloud! The bar was heavenly. The food was divine! I could have lived there!

Review 7:From the outside the hotel is deceptive. Inside we were made to feel very welcome. The room I had was on the top floor, it was clean and had all the facilities I needed. Towel rail was especially welcome for drying those wet clothes. Our evening meal was excellent. Sadly we didn't get to taste breakfast as we had to leave really early.

Review 8:We loved the warm welcome from the staff at the Kirklands after a long drive up from the south. The room was lovely and the bed was firm but very comfy. The food was excellent.

Review 9:Too many stairs to our room and no offer of help with luggage.

Review 10:Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Breakfast was very good. Real ale was in excellent condition

Review 11:The staff of the hotel were excellent, very accomodating. My family and I had need for a unexpcted stay due to our belongings being delayed in transit. finding the hotel at short notice, and having the comfort fo the hotel was excellent.

Review 12:From the moment we arrived the staff were fantastic, very welcoming and cheery.the food was lovely and well presented, couldn't fault it.bedroom was clean and comfy and had all we needed.Would stay again, well done to all the staff.

Review 13:We enjoyed everything about our stay.

Review 14:We only stayed for one night as we had drove up to Scotland to pick up a puppy. We had a really pleasant stay. Great choice of drinks and some lovely team members. The food was really lovely and our host was interested in our visit, which was refreshing instead of being another number walking in and out.

Review 15:Nothing too much other than parking on the premises is a bit restricted although on street parking is available

Review 16:The first time I stayed here wasn't planned and only due to being let down by another hotel at the last minute. However, I was impressed enough to return which speaks volumes. The staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Review 17:The stair carpet needs a deep deep steam clean (or replacing).

Review 18:Traditional small hotel in middle of makeover. New bathroom facilities; very nice. Excellent Sunday lunch.

Review 19:No lift although there isn't much stairs and we were accommodated on first storey. A handle bar in the bath to go in or out would be safer.

Review 20:Staff efficiency and good breakfast (served quickly and efficiently)

Review 21:Leaving

Review 22:The staff were wonderfull, good fun and nothingwas too much bother. Food was fantastic. Rooms comfy, good value for money and the family room had a huge lounge included, which was a surprise.

Review 23:The cleanliness had a lot to be desired, areas of the bathroom had been missed, the huge patch of mould on the ceiling didn't make us feel very welcome and the carpet through the entire place was filthy.

Review 24:The staff were lovely and very accommodating.

Review 25:Spacious room - no 9 is actually a suite, but we didn't pay extra. A great menu, not just pub grub: the chef is excellent; and we liked the efficient and friendly staff.

Review 26:The hallways and stairs especially woodwork and bedroom doors in need of a lick of paint. Bar and lounge area a bit soulless.

Review 27:Staff very friendly, room nice.

Review 28:I couldn't fault it.

Review 29:Everything, from the nicely appointed room, good wifi, excellent breakfast and warm and helpful staff. I have dietry needs which were catered for without a hitch and in fact, better than some of the more up market places I have stayed in. I will definitely be back.

Review 30:A couple of long hairs in the shower cubicle & a bit of mould on the grouting at the bottom. The old window frames also had dark mould on them, wouldn't have taken much to clean them! Otherwise the room was clean.

Review 31:Helpful staff, carried our bags up two flights of stairs! The duvets were a higher tog than we are used to, but as there was a sheet as well, we were able to change the duvet for a light weight fleece we found in the wardrobe, much better. We had an evening meal in the dining room which was very good, as was the breakfast the next day.

Review 32:A little bit cold room, no problem for us but in the winter...

Review 33:remarkable welcome, very personalized, charming couple of owners Excellent food Perfectly situated for golfers (1/2 way Sint Andrews and Gleneagles) Pleasant decoration Easy car park

Review 34:We stayed at the Kirklands Hotel after attending the Military Tattoo. There were not a lot of choices for rooms remaining in Edinburgh-August is a busy month. Our travel plans included the Highlands, therefore we looked north, and found TA reviews for the Kirklands. The staff is great, location was good. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice.

Review 35:Nothing we didn't like but altho beds comfortable bedroom decor a bit tired.

Review 36:Friendly staff nice bar good accommodation. We were there for one night only and only had decent sandwiches and a drink in the bar so did not sample food. We had to leave before normal breakfast time but owner made breakfast for us. Good room rate.

Review 37:Room was basic with single glazing windows, could be a bit noisy at night.

Review 38:Nice hotel located in a quiet town with easy access to Edinburgh, St Andrew's and Sterling. Food was exceptionally good and charged fair money.

Review 39:Shower cubicle very small and mould round base. Very small bed and poor quality of decoration in bedrooms. Understand work possibly in progress but what has been done is not high standard.

Review 40:Staff and food were excellent.

Review 41:...that we didn't book in for another night - we will be back.

Review 42:getting small kids out to a family wedding is not always easy - in t eh Kirklands is was really calm. Shona was the most fantastic help, getting food for the kids up to the room, assisting a poorly tummy and generally being a fantastic host. The family room was the most amazing surprise - more like a family suite. so clean and really comfortable thanks guys

Review 43:Long wait for food in the restaurant - well worth it though. Not much else to do close by.

Review 44:Great food. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely decor. Comfortable bedroom and modern bathroom.

Review 45:When pulled up it looked a bit tired as did the stairway, but this belied the rooms etc

Review 46:A delightful room with modern facilities. Very comfortable. Breakfast cooked to order including kippers as a choice. Welcomed to breakfast as if we were family not paying guests. Restaurant meals were of a very high standard. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Great find.

Review 47:With the bedroom window open you could hear the nearby motorway

Review 48:The accommodation is in an annexe to the old hotel and is clean, modern and comfortable.

Review 49:Very warm on top floor for sleeping. Bar could be a bit more furnished.

Review 50:The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was very Good. Good selection of drinks. Schielhallion beer on draft is excellent.

Review 51:single room did not have any view and could hear something like a door knocking below overnight but these were not major issues.

Review 52:quality of food and friendliness of staff very good. hotel very nice.

Review 53:Creaky floorboards - but it is an old property, you can't have everything!

Review 54:The friendliness and flexibility of the staff. Large family suite, 3 rooms - lounge and 2 bedrooms. Good location - easy access to Edinburgh, St Andrews, Stirling and even Glasgow. Great food - top quality breakfast plus they have a restaurant that serves high quality food. Great beer - A few real ales on tap and more in bottles (I don't drink spirits but they also appeared to have a large selection of whiskey)

Review 55:The young lady who checked me into the hotel was extremely helpful and everything came with smile, food was brilliant value and quality, lovely little bar and room was clean and comfortble, excellent breakfast too. ala in all a great place to stay. hopefully i will be back!

Review 56:On arrival the staff could not help us enough looking after our luggage taking it up to our large bedroom. Dinner one of the best we have had in any hotel and we have travelled the world. Breakfast was also good large helpings. We look forward to going back.

Review 57:Room under eaves in summer meant a hot night. Single glazed windows and location beside main road results in some intermittent traffic noise. Breakfast taken in the lounge bar area of the inn, rather than a conventional dinning room.

Review 58:Friendly, helpful staff. Good location for heading north following a day in Edinburgh. Good breakfast.

Review 59:Can't say enough superlatives. Anthony and Shona, the proprietors, and their entire staff were outstanding and they provided the epitomy of hospitality. Though many staying at the Kirklands were business travelers (and repeat customers) we were right at home with our 9 and 13 year old children. We had a family suite that was beyond spacious and quite comfortable. The restaurant was outstanding and the bar/lounge is where we ended each evening. Breakfast each morning was incredible. Absolutely everything was delicious and the people were extraordinarily helpful, nice and great to get to know. Really, they made our journey to Scotland superb. As for Kinross, where the Kirklands is located, it is a lovely town that was super easy to navigate to and an excellent starting place for every day's adventures that took us in various directions far and wide. As we ventured about and considered where else we might have stayed, we discussed how foruntate we were to have chosen the Kirklands Hotel in Kinross...truly a gem!

Review 60:The welcome was very good they took time away from a funeral to sort the 3 of us out. the staff where excellent. the food was superb in the hotel and the restaurant. I have to say they could not do enough for us. the breakfasts where great you could have what you wanted. and a great place to stop for roaming the area.
