Reviews for South Bank Apartments

Review 1:The flat is not the ones in the photos. The cleanliness was poor. There are food marks on the bedroom curtains, old food in the dishwasher, hairs in the bathroom and the flat smelt musky. They do not have double dovet only singles on double beds. This was not a flat that's advertised in the photos..

Review 2:The location is good.

Review 3:you check in at the office which is 5 min away from the apartment ( with 4 kids and 5 suitcases its not easy) the girls in the office are not welcoming very correct and not eager to help but worth the effort its a great facility we loved our sty

Review 4:the apartment is new and great located 2 min from the the tube 5 min walk from borough market next to tesco supermarket loved the apartment enjoyed our stay

Review 5:Very spacious and well equipped apartment. Great location just off Tower Bridge road. About 10 minute walk to London Bridge station. Southbank is a great location.

Review 6:There is only a building's wall out of the window so no city view to enjoy. But it doesn't really matter.

Review 7:Totally enjoy the design of bathroom. Stuffs are very friendly and professional. Also we love the plenty choices of breakfast.

Review 8:Although the apartment was clean and had a lot of appliances we found that, unfortunately, not everything worked well: the dishwasher had to be run three times to get the dishes clean; the faucet in the kitchen was installed too far back so it ran water all over the counters; the bed in the master bedroom was flimsy and the slats on the bottom fell out, etc. The apartment was nice but seemed shoddily put together.

Review 9:The location was fabulous and the staff were friendly and helpful. The apartment itself was large and had all the amenities we needed (washing machine, hair dryer, dish washer, etc).

Review 10:The ensuite shower did not work. The window blinds are a nightmare to operate.

Review 11:The beds were very low but extremely comfortable. Very difficult not to get a good night's sleep. Apartment was very spacious, would be spacious enough for a group of 8 let alone just the 4 of us. The location is brilliant, pretty much a walking distance to absolutely anything you could possibly need during your stay.

Review 12:When picking up keys from office, told it was a 6-min walk. Rubbish! If know it is 10- to 20- minute dependent on how laden you are, then you have choice to get taxi or to walk. 6-min walk made me feel not too far. Better service even would be to offer shuttle to apartment. Needs major re-thinking (and more honesty!).

Review 13:Apartment was spacious, clean and quiet.

Review 14:Missing some basics like tea towels and it was super warm in the flat even with all heaters off due to bathroom rad. All windows open all night.

Review 15:Location

Review 16:No lift, horrendous stairs to the fifth floor! Cheap pillows!!

Review 17:Great location, very well equipped! Great price in comparison to what you'd get for your money compared to a hotel!

Review 18:Entrance was down a dark alley between buildings and as I was alone I felt a little uncomfortable.

Review 19:Convenient location, lovely spacious apartment with great facilities. No noise during the night

Review 20:It wasn't very clean, the heating didn't work, we had to argue to ensure we were in the same apartment block. The shower didn't work in one of them, the couch/sofa bed was awful and the most uncomfortable thing I've ever slept on.

Review 21:Location was pretty central

Review 22:Sound didn't work on the DVD player

Review 23:Nice quiet location, we needed to be near Guys Hospital so it was fine for that purpose plus easy walk to London Bridge station. The staff I spoke to on the phone were very helpful and happy to assist me with specific requests.

Review 24:Some slight noise from the street at night, but nothing that kept me awake. Long walk from the office where I collected the key to the apartment itself. Should have got a taxi.

Review 25:Brilliant location, within 2 minutes walk of Thames Shad, shops and restaurants, and only 15 minutes walk from London Bridge Tube station. Very well-equipped apartment, very comfortable.

Review 26:they advertise the property at a different location and it ends up being further away almost 15 mins walk. The carpets were dirty. I might plan to g

Review 27:the view from living room

Review 28:Yet again the key collection is not where the property is. I choose self catering as you can spread out and have more space, but..... Why do these places have so few facilities? One lamp in the lounge. No cushions. Cheapest possible pillows. Sink plug wont close. Shower head wont stay up so you shower with one hand. Bulbs gone in spotlights. All extremely minor things but so easy to temedy and produce a far better experience.

Review 29:Not much

Review 30:the flat located in Tanner Street, close to Tower Bridge. To far from The Office were you pick up kees, and no Tube station close by

Review 31:helpfull staff, Office open all day and night. Easy to store luggage at departure day at the Office.

Review 32:Lots of noice from the street. Bad indoor climate made it neccessary to have Windows open. Couch in living room was filthy and not comfortable as a bed WiFi - router was functioning but nothing happened. Found that antenna cable was broken by terrasse door..... With 5 girls sharing 1 flat it would have helped having a separate toilet... Leave more dishwasher soap and cloths so those who stay there can clean up whilst staying.

Review 33:Close to the tube (Aldgate East). Overall satisfied, but a few things reduces the score.

Review 34:Located in one way street, it make difficult to direct the taxi which always go to the other side of the street.

Review 35:Very close to bus station and glossary market

Review 36:The unit and the appliances were tired - the shower needed some work.

Review 37:Spacious and well located near restaurants and bars in Bermondsey Street. Also close to bus transport (once we worked the buses out)

Review 38:the one and only thing is the wifi is not fast enough.

Review 39:I wouldnt come back for taking time leaving some comments if it's not too good or too bad. but the answer is briliant. totally satify our needs and wants. Although the reception and the apartment is not at the same place but not far though about 2mins walk! and at the check out date we dont have to bring back the keys to the reception we just need to put it on the dining table and then we can leave. the nearest underground is only 1min walk. The place is very quite and love and peace. very suitable for family having a holiday. Everything is just value fo rthe price.

Review 40:It was extremely noisy on the main road, really in no mans land in terms of tube stations... they advertise 10 mins walk to London Bridge... hmmmm with a following wind with no suitcases or bags to tow along.. the quality of the furnishing in the apartment was well basic at best, and the sofa/sofa bed just foam and the most uncomfortable chair/sofa ever. overall very disappointed

Review 41:Frankly, not much. If you book an apartment near London Bridge I don't expect to be east of Tower bridge,

Review 42:Hot water in shower hard to regulate. Dust on furniture I put my wrap onto cupboard in lounge room came up with heaps of dust. Apartment smelt strongly of old Indian food. Hard to clear smell. The staff forgot to give us balcony key we had to walk 15/20 minutes back to their office.

Review 43:Space of apartment and location. It has a lift which is great for older travellers.

Review 44:The location of the apartment was wrongly published/informed; the address informed was not of the apartment but of its administrators. We had to walk more than 10 blocks to get to the apartment. Two nights we did not have warm water and 1 night the dish washing machine did not work. We learned on a short notice that if you pay with credit card they charge you 2% and if with Amex, 4%.

Review 45:The sizes of the premises were ok and it was clean.

Review 46:The location, when you look at the map, shows the apartment is just south of the London Bridge at Borough Market, within 100m of a tube stop. In fact, the apartment is 1.5km away, south of Tower Bridge and not within 1.5km of any tube stop. The bus service runs through, but as Tower Rd. is a major road, traffic is often congested, making buses useless. As the road is busy, there is honking, street sweepers, and loud people all night long. There is no air conditioning, so summer you may be listening to street noises all night if you want any cooler air.

Review 47:The apartment was modern and functional, with Ikea furnishings.

Review 48:The property was supposed to be near Borough market. But it is actually quite far from it. The location you see on Booking's map corresponds to their management offices. There are fees that are not mentioned: up to £30 for a late check-in (!!!) and check-out at 11 am!

Review 49:Clean accommodation Quiet area Good wifi connection

Review 50:Non sapere in anticipo dove saremmo stati alloggiati. Abbiamo prenotato ai Southbank Apartements ma siamo finiti in altri appartamenti... comunque belli e sempre nella stessa zona. Ciononostante questa cosa non mi è piaciuta molto...

Review 51:Location Pulizia

Review 52:Very noisy next to train station despite staying for 1 week there was no cleaning of apartments and definately not worth the stay quite far from london bridge tube station

Review 53:Good kitchen and internet access

Review 54:location was not as described on the website, very misleading and had a negative impact on my vacation. staff unwilling to acknowledge this and extremely unhelpful. nice apt but awful customer service.

Review 55:The apartment is situated next to the train tracks that goes to the main terminal at waterloo station, so there are trains going by all the time making a screeching noise, plus the apartment has no AC so it forces you to keep the windows open or it gets very hot in the summer. But even with the window closed you can hear the trains. The Living room has no ventilation because can't open the Balcony door due to neighbors complains from previous misbehaving guests.

Review 56:The whole apartment is very well upgraded, nice living room with a big screen TV, kitchen has everything you need, bathroom has a nice bath tub and hot rack but not much space for toiletries, bedrooms are confortable except for noise, see below. There is a lift in the building and outside there are places to eat and a metro station within a block. It's a 5 minutes walk to the London Bridge and about 15 minutes to Trafalgar Square.

Review 57:"Checking in" was a fiasco. I got three emails telling me to report to different check in places. I had to rearrange meetings in order to check in in Aldgate only to be told that my apartment was in Tower Bridge. It is also very unclear where the actual apartment is when you book. I thought I had booked on Union Street but this is only where I was supposed to check in. I was then allocated an apartment nowhere near Union Street. The whole check in process took three hours and resulted in two cancelled meetings. I stay in a hotel in London every two weeks for years and I have never experienced such a terrible check in system. I would not recommend this to anyone. There were no curtains in the apartment so I was awakwe at 4.30 am each day with bright daylight.

Review 58:The appartment - when I got there - was nice.

Review 59:Bed was most uncomfortable I've ever slept in. Ended up sleeping on couch. Internet speed very poor. Could not watch TV shows on my laptop. Location not as advertised on booking.com

Review 60:Where you picked up the keys from was not where the flat was. This meant a 25 minute walk With small children and much moaning. They arrived an hour late to pick up keys at checkout.

Review 61:Good property and comfortable. Facilities were good.staff were helpfull. For groups of adults and older children the location was good. I loved the local food market and there were lots of places to eat.

Review 62:The beds were like two tiny single beds stuck together ... The sofa was more comfortable . It states that it's south bank so as a tourist you think your on the south bank but your actually not the view from our tiny balcony was awful we looked like we was on a council estate The parking options they give you don't use them. I parked my car over night and the next morning it was locked because I had used so much money for a deposit I had to call and ask if I could have some back to release my car which they were reluctant about but after 50 minutes they gave me back enough to release my car after they told me to park there !!!

Review 63:The apartment was clean

Review 64:Next to the train track (didn't bother me that much), no ironing board, no milk with the tea making facilities. Check in in a different building.

Review 65:Size of the apartment was great, spacious lounge/diner, balcony with a shard view. Very comfortable!!!

Review 66:Could hear train announcements and trains from 5 am until about 1 am, and engineering work at London Bridge (pneumatic drilling, etc.) at all sorts of hours.

Review 67:Spacious accommodation, conveniently located. Hair dryer worked intermittently but was replaced immediately by office.

Review 68:Accommodation was shabby - the carpet was very stained and the handles fell off two of the doors as soon as we walked in.

Review 69:Good location in terms of access to some of the tourist destinations.

Review 70:Flat was very hot and dry air probably because of the boiler room. Me and my daughter had nose bleeds because of the very dry air. This was flat 128.

Review 71:Nice clean and modern flat and furniture and appliances. close to the Tower of London ( 15min walk) and 5 minutes from tube station. A bit out of the way for visiting the other touristic areas around Picaddilly and Buckingham palace. Next time we will probably just get a hotel closer to the centre which is an equivalent price but you save on the tube ticket which is 36 pounds for 2 adults + 2 children.

Review 72:But far from a tube station for 74 yr old parents. Pillows too yhin and no spares.

Review 73:Ideal for the group having 2 bedrooms & bathrooms. The rooms were warm but fans supplied. Great kitchen.

Review 74:The mattress was a little uncomfortable with a couple of springs that stuck out. In the main bathroom the shower head did not move up luckily I am small so didn't cause too much of a problem.

Review 75:Location is central and the apartment was lovely and bright which was very clean and had everything I needed.

Review 76:The apartment was furnished very cheaply and was very tired. The bedroom curtains had a 6 inch gap either side of the window which meant I was woken by the sun streaming in through the gaps at 5.30 am.

Review 77:Just as well I was travelling on my own as my wife wouldn't have slept in the place.

Review 78:Only after we made the non-refundable booking, we were told that theaddress is going to be different to the one that is stated on theInternet. Upon arrival at the apartment we found a tired broken dirtymouldy and damp apartment that was only 10 yards away from the LondonBridge railway station. The only relative quiet was between the hours of1-5am. Due to the steep price of the accommodation (for which we wouldhave been able to stay in a 5* hotel) we felt that we were being chargedfor a subpar service at which point we decided to contact a member ofstaff, who were very reluctant to help us. We demanded to speak to themanager who we were told was not contactable via phone, only via email.Upon emailing the manager we were told that he would respond at 9am thefollowing day, which did not happen, leaving us to stay at the apartmentand having to contact the office once again. There was a distinct lackof communication, as this member of staff was different to the one wehad spoken to the night before. This meant that we had to go through therigma of complaining about our room again. Eventually, we were contactedby the manager who told us that we would be given a compensatory taxijourney from London Bridge to Paddington. We waited for 45 minutes andthere was still no sign of a taxi. We called the office once more to yetanother member of staff who was not informed of our form ofcompensation. Finally, we learnt that after an hour of waiting, the taxistill had not been arranged so we ended up leaving the apartment of ourown accord. All in all, an unnecessarily stressful couple of days withthis company showing an unparalleled level of incompetence.

Review 79:No key to the balcony door, but after requesting one it was delivered to my apartment on the second day.

Review 80:Comfortable bed. VERY clean everywhere. Kitchen almost over equipped

Review 81:Apartment a bit hot and if you opened the windows there was a fair bit of noise in the morning. They did supply fans but they are not always a great alternative to having a cool room.

Review 82:Fully equipped kitchen. Free wifi. very tidy and comfortable. clean.

Review 83:The address used on the site is actually the reception which is a distance away from the actual apartment - I based all travel plans on the address provided in my reservation and we ended up having to move suitcases and make other arrangements to get to tube stations which ended up costing me a lot more than if they had provided the correct address on booking which would have affected my booking! Very disappointed. The bathroom showers were very hard to adjust for hot water - so we ended up having cold or warm showers.

Review 84:Free wifi and clean rooms. Nice and spacious. Surrounding area of the apartment we ended up with had good restaurants and grocery stores.

Review 85:Rude cleaner who knocked on the door 5 mins before check out and told us we had to leave!

Review 86:Very helpful check in staff (Diego). Apartment had all mod cons and got thumbs up from parents and kids!

Review 87:1. Actual location is more like 175 Tower Bridge Road. This means you check in to at Union Street and then need a 5 stops of a bus or a 15 min walk to reach the apartment. Also, the Tube station is much longer walk than you would expect. 2. WiFi - although free and available, very poor connection and speed. 3. The other side of the building faces directly the train lines, so be aware if you have poor sleep

Review 88:Near (almost in) a park with excellent views over the Shard. Clean, has everything you would need to live and cook. Mine had 2 double bedrooms and a big sofa in living room. Decent location to Tower Bridge / City Hall, but see the :(

Review 89:There were 2 bathrooms in the property one reeked of mould, the other of bleach, the latter triggered my husband's allergies

Review 90:Discovering a part of London that is off the usual tourist track and the amount of independent restaurants, and deli's within walking distance. Book early even mid-week.

Review 91:Nothing to complain about.

Review 92:We where a party of 10 friends staying and where really happy with the apartment, customer service and the facilities. Very clean and staff helpful and just a phone call away. Location was excellent near London Bridge with superstores and tourist sights nearby. Great value for money, i would stay here again and recommend to others too.

Review 93:The only negative is that the flat is not in Southbank but in Whitechapel. There is nothing wrong with the place but when I made the booking it showed a different address so we were expecting and planning everything from the wrong location.

Review 94:The flat is spacious and well maintained. Spotless except for a few stains in the bedroom carpets. Superb kitchen and bathrooms!

Review 95:Noise from trains next to the apartment. Hard to sleep between 1 and 5. Wifi not working. Tv had to be on very loud to hear above train noise.

Review 96:Space in apartment is great and clean. Beds not bad. Location 5 minutes from borough tube. Great view of shard.

Review 97:No WiFi while trying to book and see what's on. Location of actual apartments is down the aptly named Long Lane. The piped TV signal was patchy with a por range of stations.

Review 98:Clean, tidy and comfortable

Review 99:To have to go to the central office to register and obtain keys and then hike tot he property was a real pain with kids and luggage. The staff were, to put it politely, one dimensional. Only one lift was in service in the apartment block and the beds were not great.

Review 100:The final location was good- handy to access restaurants along the Thames. Kitchen fitted out well

Review 101:Properties can be 20 mins walk away from check in. They us a Czech Republic Website to make payments which can lead to credit card fraud prevention measures kicking in meaning you have to draw cash.

Review 102:The apartment was further away from where we thought we would be. You quite don't know where the apartment is until you get there. We only had working WiFi for 2 days out of the 7 days.. One of the showers did not turn on at times. Needed better pillows Very noisy street on a main road.

Review 103:Nice flat 2br and 2ba for the price. Clean and updated. Spacious flat. Grocery store next door Several restaurants close by.

Review 104:I did not like the lack of flexibility of the staff, (checkin/ot rules). I asked for early check in and late checkout, (Asked for check in 13:00 and and checkout 13:00) got neither. Was told I had to check in after 15:00 and checkout no later then 11:00. My wife arrived in the check in office two hours earlier than me but she had to wait in the office until I arrived two hours later since they did not let her into the apartment until I would arrive and put down deposit!!. This was not a good start of the stay and the strict check in and checkout rules are annoying.

Review 105:I liked the apartment, it was clean and very good.

Review 106:Wifi was absolutely terrible and no parking was available and cost us 42pound for 2 days.

Review 107:The room was located very close to the tower bridge & rooms were very clean.

Review 108:Even if the ckeck-in office was probably half a mile from the (tower bridge street) 15 min by walk, the apartment was very well what i had expected. The counter/frontdesk Staff was very kind assisting us even before we arrived in london giving us the possibility to pay in advance, receive a package needed for business purposes and keeping our luggage for a few hours since the arrival of my fellows and me was very early in the morning till check-in (15:00). The apartment had double bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, one to share and another one separately for one of the rooms. Heating system, comfortable and well designed forniture and living room with sofa-bed and flat screen 40 feet TV was also good. For those who preffer or need a fully equipped kitchen for cooking groceries you can just get arround the block get them, this helps to reduce and stick to small travel budgets, kitchen with full appliances is available (for example: washmashine and dishwasher etc.)

Review 109:Bedroom on the front suffered from quite a bit of road noise.

Review 110:Excellent spacious flat, made for a relaxing stay. Very close to the wonderful Borough market and with a fabulous night time view of the lit-up Shard.

Review 111:The office stay was really nice, but I think they should be more prepared and informed about the city, speacilly about transports and ways to get to the airport. But I have nothing bad to say about my stay :))

Review 112:Much better than a Hostel, if you're staying with family or friends!the apartment where I've stayed was completely new and had everything we needed!Kitchen had everything (apart from food of course),the apartment was big and clean, and also in a quiet zone but 10min walking from the underground station borough. totally recommend, it made a diference in my stay :)

Review 113:I wish we had known that there was a railway line right outside! Didn't sleep well which is not good. Kids were disturbed also. Would not book it again due to that one thing only.

Review 114:On the whole the location was excellent for getting into the attractions. The apartment was plenty big enough for the 5 of us. Facilities good. Staff were great when we met them.

Review 115:I did not like the fact that the pick up point for the keys is located at a different address. Not ideal when travelling with children.

Review 116:The apartment was very comfortable and had everything you would needed.

Review 117:The area in London near the river, very quite during night time. 3m walk to Borough Station Tube and 7m to London Bridge Station. 5m to Boroughs Market.

Review 118:This stay would have been perfect if we were without two small babies. The neighborhood is fine for adults and does not feel unsafe, but it can come across as a little sketchy.

Review 119:This was a perfect solution for a long-term stay for 4 adults and two babies. Great price compared to any comprable hotel, close to the city center, and a staff that is friendly and easy to work with.

Review 120:kitchen could have had some more equipment, i.e. cleaning items , kitchen roll dishcloth.

Review 121:3 bed apartment was spacious and fairly well appointed. it was clean and warm with plenty hot water for 6 showers. within walking distance of attractions on the south bank, just round the corner from London Bridge Station. Tesco M&S and Costcutter nearby for shopping. HMS Belfast a stones throw away and a variety of pubs and restaurants to chose from. A superb base for our family holiday.

Review 122:No hair shampoo, no carpark, public carpark available @ £21 per 24 hours.

Review 123:Location, new & spacious apartment, easy checked out, nice staff, value for money @ discounted price.

Review 124:The office where the keys had to be picked up being a good 10 minutes from the flat. I'm glad it wasn't raining. The horrible damp smell emanating from the bathrooms, in particular the ensuite. Quite sickening at times. Thankfully we didn't spend much time in the flat. Soap dishes would be useful in the bathrooms. The mattresses were a bit lumpy and the pillows also.

Review 125:The size of the flat is really good and it's easy to get into London via Borough tube or a short walk and you're at the Shard.

Review 126:It wasn't clearly explained that the area suggested by the website when you put in the location requested as being the property is not actually where the property is. It was the office only - you had to then travel further away (in the opposite direction) to where I wanted to be.

Review 127:As reported previously the office is on Union square, 10 mins from underground but on arrival directed another 15 mins walk. 3 adults, 3 suitcases. We were lucky that it was dry and resulted in being 25min away from underground but fine for us. Shower head broken and water just warm on last morning

Review 128:Apartment clean and spacious. Central location (though not where we thought when we booked!) good wifi

Review 129:1. There are various apartments under this link yet not clearly described in the introduction. 2. The apartment we stayed is 5 minutes drive from the office (not good for travellers without cars); 3. We looked for overnight car park for nearly 2 hours but it turned out that we could park the car downstairs for the weekend--the staff should've known better. 4. There were no places for us to store our luggage but the reception which was not close to our apartment. Again, not good for people without cars. 5. There was only enough hot water for 2-3 showers and we had to wait for 2-3 hours for the water to boil. (It's London's bad...)

Review 130:1. The limehouse metro station is only 5 minutes walk from our apartment. 2. Room is spacious enough for 3 adults and two older kids. 3. Wifi is quite fast.

Review 131:Little bit more kitchen equipment needed especially eggcups. Otherwiseperfectly adequate.

Review 132:Very clean and well organised. Felt very safe and was nice and quiet. Perfect stay for a group or family avoiding expensive hotels.

Review 133:The location of the Aldgate apartments, not ideal! Although it is only a 10 minute wall to the tube!

Review 134:Large apartment, with everything a family need! Clean, well equipped kitchen with lots of space.

Review 135:A bust water main was not really the fault of the booking agents. It really was the responsibility of the owner. All three apartment were fit for purpose but aprt # 1 had a really poor hot water supply and seemed to be on a rather miserly time. apt #1 and 3 had a lot of junk in closets like broken ironing tables etc. In apt # 1 the iron didn't work and in apt # 3 the toaster kept throwing the circuit breaker. That said the locations and security were excellent and the price good value despite the problems. No cleaning is doe - it really is self-service and more pillows and towels might be nice!

Review 136:The checkin is at a central location in Southwark half way between Borough and London Bridge Stations so you need to drag your luggage or get a cab. The staff at the office were courteous and helpful and will look after your luggage if you arrive early or leave late. We had 3 apartments during our stay! The first suffered a catastrophic burst water main at 3am. However the office staff had it sorted and we were re-housed in 2 hours despite the hour. They behaved really well and found us another more permanent (and much better) apartment the same day which we enjoyed very much. The apartments on Tower Bridge Road are excellent.

Review 137:We loved the location, the building itself, the appartment. Near to public transport, quite area, close to Tate Modern, services arround. Plenty of room, kitchen perfectly equiped, excellent beds and bathroom, clean. Two TV, free wifi... So good.

Review 138:Very little in the kitchen, only one very large pan and no shelves in oven, though luckily we did not intend to cater apart from breakfast.

Review 139:Very quiet location at second attempt (first was next to station).Very helpful staff relocated us quickly. Comfortable clean.

Review 140:The location of the apartments are directly over a train line, and it can be very noisy, not good if you are a light sleeper...

Review 141:Being in a Apartment and not a hotel room..
