Reviews for Innkeeper's Lodge Old Windsor

Review 1:Only the fact that I did not know before my arrival whether any kind of breakfast was included or not!!

Review 2:The position of the in was ideal for me just a short walk from my son's home. I was very happy in Room 105 I was glad to learn that a Continental breakfast was included.

Review 3:Very noisy room position......directly over delivery entrance to kitchens etc. even though rooms were doubled glazed. No headboard to one of the beds.....just two screws in wall where it should have been. Other headboard fell off. Showerhead held together with masking tape. Continental breakfast very sparse on Sunday morning.

Review 4:Closeness to eventual destination.

Review 5:Continental breakfast was disorganised had to ask for utensils, milk, plates. The younger staff members were 100% more amiable than the elder staff

Review 6:Value meals and spacious room

Review 7:One morning member of staff rude & unhelpful. Having notified ahead through you special dietary requirements needed. Wasn't met.breakfast set up was all over the place. Could be cleaner

Review 8:Being with family. Location

Review 9:Long wait to check in Staff rushed off their feet. poor included complimentary breakfast

Review 10:Close to Windsor (although on a busy road) Value for money carvery

Review 11:The attached restaurant which provided a buffet breakfast was often disorganized with tables left uncleared and food items not refilled.

Review 12:The room was clean and comfortable and met all our needs for accommodations.

Review 13:There was no one available to check us in when we arrived, we stood at the end if the bar for 10mins until a restaurant staff member came over, took our payment and gave us a key. No explanation about breakfast times or even where the room was. The next morning the manager had us down as a no show as we hadn't actually been checked in, a bit of a risk if there had been a fire!

Review 14:It was very handy for Legoland and the food at the carvery was good.

Review 15:Needs a good clean in toby cavern & short staffed sun - Tuesday we stayed.continental breakfast was poor . shower head leaking so cleaner just put on floor so ya cudnt hear it drip.stayed here 2 yrs ago but has gone down hill.wudnt stay again...

Review 16:One staff member claire/chlorine friendly & one member who was friendly on cleaning of innkeeper Inn.

Review 17:N/a

Review 18:Very friendly staff. Requested a quiet room with a cot and this was granted. Stayed after a day at LegolAnd and found it value for money and handy having the carvery restaurant to have dinner in.

Review 19:Had room 104 it smelt and was next to rubbish bins, hairdryer did not work no spare available . The place was in need of a coat of paint look dingy and dirty.

Review 20:Staff very friendly and did there best for you

Review 21:When we arrived the staff seemed to just be stood about and argued about who was check in us in the Lady that eventually did check us in we both felt She could use a new attitude the lady for breakfast the next day as well the gentleman however that seated us for dinner on our last night was really pleasant and helpful. The shower head in the bathroom we didn't dare touch as was tapped on the wall. Food wise value for money was poor could hardly eat the roast potatoes and I think the chef gave me the bit of beef with the most fat and grisle possible.

Review 22:Good location although very busy road easy walking distance to castle. My friend said she had the best night sleep she had in a long time as she found the bed and pillows comfy. Room was fairly clean but things had been moved and the cleaning products used in the bathroom reminded us of public toilets.

Review 23:The bed was a little soft needs a new mattress I think

Review 24:The location was great as we were returning to the airport the next morning. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was lovely and the room was warm.

Review 25:Bar staff had no smiling welcome. Unless you you know you are looking for the Innkeepers Lodge at the Toby Carvery there is only a Toby Carvery name outside.

Review 26:Close for Heathrow Airport. Rooms clean and tidy.

Review 27:Initially having to take our luggage through the dining area whilst patrons eating.

Review 28:Even though out of Windsor it was only a 10 min bus trip No 71 into town just near the Castle. The Carvery was excellent value for food and the Continental breakfast can be upgraded to a full English which is well worth the extra £/$s

Review 29:The staff need to have a change of shift report book. I sat for over two hours waiting for my travel companion to arrive. She was already there but hadn't been entered in on the computer.

Review 30:The Carvery was exceptional. Great value.

Review 31:Bed bit too soft but bearable

Review 32:Very pleasent place to stay.staff very pleasant. Room very clean bed not great but everything else including breakfast was great

Review 33:Some of the services were not as described in the website - breakfast times were slightly different, the bar closed at 10.30 not 11pm, room service wasn't really 24 hrs as I though it was etc. but really these were only small things and didn't cause any problems

Review 34:Location, staff, facilities, flexibility

Review 35:The room was dirty ,The TV was not working the Bathroom was filthy. the deputy manager was not interested in solving the problem ,we checked out and asked for a refund 10 mins after arriving ,he told me that he could not process a refund because the telephones were not working ,when I suggested that one telephone must be working ,he then processed a refund through the till ,which I hope will be in my account by Monday

Review 36:Staffing in the pub was inadequate in the evening 45 min wait for food. Staff were clearly stressed very few smiles and that felt uncomfortable everyone seemed miserable. We bought a takeaway chinese the second night as although carvery was lovely we didnt enjoy the atmosphere.

Review 37:Location for Legoland is excellent Room was clean quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and morning staff very friendly in contrast to previous evening.

Review 38:We are a family of 2 adults and a young child. We reserved a family room for 2 nights. I emailed in advance to request early check in of possible as we were attending a wedding the day we arrived. The staff could not have been more accommodating, our room was ready when we arrived allowing us to quickly get ready to head out. Staff were extremely friendly, the room had everything we needed and was clean. Great location with lots of free parking. Only a 5 minute drive to get the train into Waterloo.

Review 39:You have to book-in at the bar, and it seems as a woman on my own I was invisible. Also although listed as free wifi, the signal is only in the Toby carvery, not in the room.

Review 40:The Italian restaurant around the corner

Review 41:I was very dissapointed with the overall service received from the staff. When I found the entrance to the hotel (which is through the entrance to the Toby Carvery), as there are no signs outside to let you know where to go, I was then waiting for 15 minutes to check in. After checking in, to get through to the hotel you have to walk through the restaurant, that was full of guests, which made it extremely awkward when carrying your luggage. When going for food, having never been to a Toby Carvery before, it would have been nice to have been made aware of what I had to do, rather than sitting down for 20 minutes, before having to ask a member of staff, who came across as rude and abrupt, making me feel like an inconvenience. This attitude continued through to the following morning when we went for our breakfast. Definitely wont be going back.

Review 42:The only positive I can take from my visit was the room. It was clean, presentable and had all the neccessary amenities.

Review 43:Some of the staff clearly can't cope with the stress of being busy The real ales are poorly kept!!

Review 44:Overall comfort and food was of a good standard

Review 45:Very little continental breakfast so would pay extra for cook breakfast. Place seems under staff but staff are very helpful

Review 46:Close to legoland and great price

Review 47:A single room being turned in to a twin by a chair bedded that is not suitable for an adult, the attitude of the staff. The property is very tired and needs some updating, the carvery on the night of our stay there was only 2 choices of meat and the chef just slapped it on the plates. I will be complaining to Head Office.

Review 48:The Continental breakfast being included was well worth the money, and the location was brilliant

Review 49:The only negative is that the soap dispenser wasn't refilled after the room was cleaned.

Review 50:What we liked best was the location. Would stay at the lodge again as it was a comfortable stay that was close to a lot of things like Legoland :)

Review 51:The general feel is that the public areas are starting to look tired. Most of the chairs need reseating. They are frankly past their sell by date.

Review 52:Friendly overworked staff. The night we had the carvary there only seemed to be two staff for the whole of the restaurant.

Review 53:Bar staff and table allocation when we arrived was awful. Chef at carvery was so slow that our family didn't eat our meals together (when we finally ate at 9pm) Not clean. Bedroom carpet needed a Hoover and the breakfast area and equipment was dirty. The highchairs had not been cleaned from the night before so we had to clean our own and the bins were still covered in spillages and food.

Review 54:Close to legoland. Helpful breakfast staff. Free continental breakfast and drinks for inn customers

Review 55:The staff was a bit rude when we first arrived we had travelled from Scotland by bus and we arrived at the hotel at 1pm when I asked if we could just leave are suitcase was told no you can't get into your room till 3pm so we had to sit and wait

Review 56:The hotel was in a perfect location for us as we went to legoland

Review 57:The bathroom sink was leaking. The extractor for the bathroom was constantly on The taps were not in a very presentable condition. The morning staff were not very approachable or helpful

Review 58:The staff were very good in the evening,

Review 59:As we are in the late seventies and cycling we missed the hotel simple by pure signage the name was not visible from road so missed it , and ended up in Windsor in stead before we asked where your hotel was. By that time after cycling from London it was not a happy couples (4) of us

Review 60:The dinner at the restaurant was god,and enjoyed the meal.

Review 61:Having to wait around to check in and staff not being particularly interested (apart from waitress Holly). Chaotic dining in the evening with sometimes a half hour wait. Bathroom in Room No.107 in dire need of some attention.

Review 62:Location.

Review 63:If you are a fast walker it takes 45 mins to reach Windsor Castle, not 20 as stated online. My parents are elderly so it took them an hour to reach. I originally booked this hotel because of its location.

Review 64:Within Toby Carvery, good restaurant, good rooms for a few night stay.

Review 65:No wi-fi in room at all during entire stay. Fire alarm activated twice during our first night, we only heard from other guests that it was a false alarm. Room on ground floor overlooked parking lot, overflow of rubbish and discarded A/C units. Woken up between 3 and 4 AM by loud talking in the parking lot and banging car doors. Definitely not a four * hotel, inn generally tired looking. It's a pity because it does seem to have a lot of potential.

Review 66:Carvery on premises has great food and fast service. Location (easy access to Legoland and Windsor town centre as well). Good parking.

Review 67:Heathrow is very close so alot of noise up untill 11.30pm,Our room was very hot and stuffy, windows only opened slightly, also the wifi didnt seem to work upstairs in our room.

Review 68:Great location for legoland, and the food downstairs in the toby carvery restaurant was great value for money

Review 69:This place is probably very unsafe. A fire alarm activated and no staff reacted, apart from the duty manager who tried to turn off the alarm. No evacuation, no checks of residents. The pub continued as though nothing was amiss. Then on the second day - no hot water.

Review 70:The Inn was in a good location for most areas and the car parking was excellent. The bedroom was clean and modern but the downstairs area was in dire need of refurbishment

Review 71:The cot bed was very unsturdy. Was broke on one side. Had to move it right up next to my bed. Had to pay extra for a cooked breakfast.

Review 72:The rooms I booked were very big! A lot of space. Bed was comfy with extra pillows if needed.

Review 73:Where would you like me to start! On arrival we were greeted by someone who I took to be the janitor but was front of house at the carvery. I was about to say we had a room booking but was rudely interrupted with the words "Not till 3.00 o'clock you haven't!" We bought a drink and sat outside on the terrace surrounded by broken glass, hundreds of cigarette ends and a over spilling rubbish bin. (Everything still the same 2 days later when we checked out). The bedroom was in need of upgrading - the sink was stained brown and smelt from the drains. If this is a four star rating from the AA, I would hate to stay in a two star!!

Review 74:Comfy bed, breakfast adequate.

Review 75:Arrived on the hottest night of the year to be given a large, well equipped cool and comfortable room ! Greeting staff fully explained the layout and facilities available as we were shown to the room. The duty manager even delivered an ironing board and iron to the room himself.

Review 76:There was a very odd 'drain' smell coming from the sink waste but it didn't spoil the stay in any way - just made me keep the plug in between emptying the sink.

Review 77:Not top class but great value for the price, room was big enough and clean, staff were helpful, food was "Toby Inn" so a full stomach without an empty wallet but not fine dining. I would have no qualms about staying again if in the area and would recommend to others.

Review 78:Didn't get the idea that you had to walk through the restaurant to get to your room when the other side of the restaurant is quiet

Review 79:Food was fantastic

Review 80:Toilet in room didn't work and even though they tried to fix it , it stopped working again overnight They had no other room to offer us No refund Asked for a double bed , two singles that could not be pushed together Not ideal when baby sleeps with us

Review 81:Locality Restaurant next door Local shop was a two min walk away

Review 82:No possibility of early check-in or late departure - except on payment of a full night rate. Check-in time is 3 pm rather than the more standard 2 pm of other properties. Some facilities need a freshen up (hand-basin in bathroom was stained, curtain not properly hooked up, remote control for TV stuck together with sticking plaster) - all relatively small items but gave an overall "tired" feel to an otherwise adequate room.

Review 83:Short drive to Heathrow. Plenty of free parking. Bus stop at door with half hourly service to Windsor - easier than having to find parking in Windsor.

Review 84:The view from our room was a brick wall of the adjacent building. But we were only sleeping there.

Review 85:The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was good for the type of hotel, and there was plenty of parking. It is about an hours walk into Windsor, half on a main road and half through the grounds of Windsor Castle. The food was good, but there were lots of noisy children in the restaurant, but not misbehaving.

Review 86:Room was out back where staff could be noisy when on cigarette break also disposing of empty bottles was very noisy at times ..

Review 87:Only a short walk into Windsor itself .

Review 88:Miserable staff in Toby Inn. Poorly trained for customer care. Shouting and yelling from kitchen when eating. Warm bottle of white wine presented.

Review 89:Clean and comfortable bbedrooms to Innkeeper's lodge usual standards

Review 90:Was ignored by a member of staff when waiting to check in she served others first then another lady came along who was very helpful. Sofa bed wasn't made when we arrived even thou I was emailed to ask if this was required to which I responded it was.

Review 91:Very close to Legoland where we visited. Good value for money & carvery was lovely.

Review 92:if anything, the windy weather. But in total was ok also

Review 93:the location is rather better than it looks from the pictures - the sea is very close and the view from the dining room is phantastic, village centre is near but the house itself very quiet. Good rooms, comfort, well-equipped kitchen, game room.

Review 94:The staff on the Saturday morning were 'less than helpful' - /i paid an additional fee for tea/coffe, when i told the staff member on the Sunday - she was NOT interested & 'couldnt care less'. Apparently as residents staying in the lodge we did not need to - it was included.

Review 95:The room/bed very comfortable

Review 96:bar staff could have been a bit more happier, property seems to be under a Heathrow flight path. limited menu

Review 97:free convenient parking,friendly cleaners & chef,short drive from Legoland & Windsor

Review 98:We needed to be out of the hotel by 8am on our first day - breakfast wasn't until 8am although we had been told on arrival,on Friday, that breakfast was 7.30am. Non residents called in for breakfast but like the residents were literally locked out!

Review 99:Great staff. Clean room, comfortable bed.

Review 100:The staff were very helpful and pleasant. there is a Toby restaurant attached which serves a lovely carvery. Just as good as the first time, if not better.

Review 101:Staff. Total disinterest in everything they were doing except the room maid on the ground floor who was friendly and helpful. I spent ten minutes waiting to try and check-out while the staff all messed-around at the far end of the bar while four bar customers got fed up with waiting and left and I eventually took my key to them and left as I was running out of both time and patience. The single beds which moved around on their casters during the night so much that my pillows fell between the bed and the wall....the low point of our visit to the UK on our final day. Not good.

Review 102:Convenient for our needs, breakfast was good and plentiful.

Review 103:one needed a UK mobile number in order to access the internet. Not very easy when one had just entered the country but needed to be connected.

Review 104:Convenience to Heathrow,

Review 105:Good continental breakfast & carvery dinner. Within walking distance of Windsor, or there is a bus stop right outside - save a fortune in parking charges. Helpful staff, room comfortable, free Wi-Fi.

Review 106:Not many comfy seats in lounge areas. Bed a bit overhard for me. Wifi kept dropping in rooms.

Review 107:Most of the visit was fine.Obviously busy as a B.H weekend but lots to do around Windsor. Good location and parking.

Review 108:Limited breakfast, we paid extra to have a full British breakfast as the so called continental was poor, Awful service from staff, we were waiting to check in for about 15 minutes, there were no queues and staff just looked at us and decided to carry on with their conversation. Dirty rooms Uncomfortable beds

Review 109:Close to Legoland

Review 110:Shame our family room didn't have a bath for the kids but the shower was big enough for parent and kid to shower safely.

Review 111:Cleanliness of rooms Onsite carvey

Review 112:Room did get a bit stuffy because i couldnt open the windows at night due to the closeness of Heathrow airport.

Review 113:The lodge was quiet and yet in a central location

Review 114:The person serving the roast on Saturday night was so rude, did tell the manager that evening. Wouldn't eat there again.

Review 115:April was a lovely girl, made us very welcome, room nice.

Review 116:The beds larger than a single and very comfortable. The room was at the back of the property and quiet, also a good size. The carvers was convenient for tired late travellers and the continental breakfast ( included in price) was fine. Really good quality tea in the rooms as well.

Review 117:On the morning we left there was no hot water in either sink or shower. We were later informed that someone had not switched on the water heater. In the dining room the breakfast food trays were not always kept stocked at cooked breakfast counter

Review 118:room was well equipped. convenient for some fine attractions e.g. Runnymede and Kennedy memorial. Easy journey to Windsor castle and Ascot makes this an ideal centre.

Review 119:The bed was way too soft, it was like sleeping on a water bed, had a bad back ever since. When you stood against the bed it shot across the floor because of the wheels it was on, not good : ( that spoilt my weekend a bit. What would of been useful also is if we could have been asked at the time of booking or checking in if we were staying for dinner (as the room was a top of the Toby Carvery) instead we waited an hour + in our rooms as there was no room at the bar or any staff to serve, it was so busy, didn't feel like they could handle all the customers. The Manager/waiter said he would call us down when our table was ready but he didn't. It's a shame because the food was nice, Customer service not great, apart from 1 or 2 of the Waitress'. Would stay again if I thought the customer service would improve.

Review 120:Nice walk to the Castle.

Review 121:Understaffed, they were under a lot of pressure on a busy Saturday. The bed was awful! My head was higher than my feet. Worst nights sleep in a long time.

Review 122:Lovely staff, tried really hard to accommodate us. Room looked lovely, spacious and clean.

Review 123:Because everywhere else in the area was booked, the price reflected that. It was not good value for money BUT I needed a quiet, warm room to stay in, and that was what I got. Therefore no particular complaints

Review 124:The room was a good size for me, the lighting was good enough to do some work and the staff were all reasonably friendly. There is a good chance that I will stay there again.

Review 125:Door to car park did not seem to lock.

Review 126:Comfort and privacy of room, excellent position for my visit, convenient bar, great menu and value in bustling carvery, very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 127:They seem to have changed the pillows since our last visit. Now very thin and not supportive, had to double over and prop up.

Review 128:Good atmosphere and staff. Continental Breakfast included with option to upgrade to full English

Review 129:Smelly stairway down to gents toilets from bar/restaurant. Gents toilets in bar/restaurant need some attention

Review 130:The food was really good and great value for money. Room and facilities were very good.

Review 131:Everything about the Innkeepers Lodge was good. The continental breakfast was really nice and the breakfast waitress was very accommodating. The 1st morning we had breakfast there were jugs of juice, 1 cranberry and 1 orange, my son not keen on either so I asked the waitress for a glass of apple juice for him. She brought him a glass of apple to the table, the next morning she made sure that there was a jug of apple juice on the breakfast buffet. All the staff were brilliant, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Review 132:I paid £79/£82 per night twin room sole occupancy; not even full English breakfast included for that. Side door didn't appear to lock at all - worrying security risk.

Review 133:Friendly staff. Room clean but sparse - on second night no bath mat & tissue box empty.

Review 134:Restaurant shut at 21.30 when we arrived.Bathroom sinks and taps could do with replacing,a bit discoloured.Rear access door requires improvement, doubt if it ever locked at 23.00 as staff informed, needs looking at.

Review 135:Like the location,a few small shops behind, take away was handy when restaurant was shut at our 21.30 arrival.Quiet room, staff friendly.

Review 136:Beds really uncomfortable.

Review 137:This hotel is £ 5.- by taxi away from windsor castle. Room was on second floor by stairs, no elevator. Luggage heavy. I would stay there again.

Review 138:there was no dedicated check in desk only a minor dislike but nevertherless a dislike

Review 139:The warm welcome from all members of staff they were friendly and helpful our room was comfortable and very clean

Review 140:Window lock broken, window not tightly shut, which meant that the noise from overhead aircraft woke me at 5am.

Review 141:Restaurant very busy (45 min wait) was able to eat in room, rather than wait for table.
