Reviews for The Swan Inn
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:Very welcoming and friendly. Room was clean, warm and decorated with taste. Nice bathroom. Hotel is being renovated but no trouble to guests. Home cooked breakfast, good choice and local produce. Our dog wasn't any trouble. Thank you for a lovely stay. Need to go back at some point.
Review 3:If I had to choose something I would say the bathroom needed updating, but after a brief chat with the owner we soon realise the place was right in the middle of under go furbish meant and that this tiny difference would be updated in a couple of weeks.
Review 4:1st What made this please stand out is the price and upon arrival you realise you had excellent value for money, The photos don't do place justice at all and the 2nd thing that absolutely blew me away is the customer service, owner and stuff more than willing to go out of his way to help out in any way possible.
Review 5:Very friendly landlord and staff. Although at end of refurb, room clean and warm and breakfast great. I felt really unwell, but still had a great stay. Look forward to coming back in the spring.
Review 6:Rooms tired and shabby, window didn't close properly, bathroom old , £75 for a single person absolute daylight robbery for an old room above a pub with horrible furniture - felt grubby.
Review 7:Nothing really sorry
Review 8:bathroom ceiling too low for a shower!
Review 9:The proprietors kindly added a very comfy extra bed to the twin room to accommodate me when they were fully booked & i couldn't get a room at a reasonable price nearby.
Review 10:Adrien the owner was the perfect host, made us very welcome. Highly recommend his “poached eggs. His wife’s are better according to Adrien. Poor lady had broken her leg so was unable to cook. We had a brilliant night’s sleep in the very spacious bedroom which overlooks the market square. The au suite is in need of some TLC but still very clean. Adrien made time to chat with us. He and his wife only took over the Swan 15 months ago and are in the middle of refurbishing bedrooms, bathrooms etc. We can’t wait to visit again to see the progress on what we are sure is going to be a very successful venture. Great location Good luck Sally & Earl Cornish Cambridgeshire
Review 11:Great welcome for both us and the dog from both our hosts and the locals in the bar. Dog treats, water and poo bags available in the bar! The building was 15th century and quirky but had been fitted out in a comfortable, modern style and had absolutely everything you could want. The breakfast was excellent and generous and served in a friendly but efficient manner. The hosts were knowledgeable about their hotel and happy to chat about it without ever being intrusive.
Review 12:The shower was next to useless and for £150 for a night is not acceptable. Also, no private car park and I had an expensive car which I had o leave on the main road.
Review 13:Location from Goodwood was great.
Review 14:Virtualy impossible to find a parking space at weekends until late evening, ended up parking miles away and then moving the car nearer. To regulate the bath taps to make the shower not too hot or too cold was very difficult, less agile people may find it impossible to climb into the bath.
Review 15:Friendly welcome, nice comfy room and beds, quite nights sleep, well cooked breakfast, nice and close to the main town.
Review 16:Comfortable bedroom, very good breakfast (particularly the poached egg), excellent beer (particularly the Harvey's Armada), friendly proprietors, characterful historic inn, picturesque location.
Review 17:the main bar area shows signs of age and needs a good clean/refurb.
Review 18:location in Midhurst, lovely old building, very comfortable room with excellent bedding. staff very friendly and attentive.
Review 19:Tired '70s-vintage decor and furniture in desperate need of refurbishment. Wallpaper peeling off bedroom ceiling. Mouldy ceiling in shower room which itself was very small. Net curtains would have been nice as room overlooked main square. Also not easy to find parking space near hotel. Certainly expected more quality from a £140 per night room.
Review 20:Well located in centre of town. Friendly landlady. Nice breakfast.
Review 21:Excellent breakfast with good quality ingredients, very helpful staff that would cater for your needs. Would definitely stay again if we travel to the area.
Review 22:Had a lovely comfy stay. Breakfast was lovely. Hotel owners were really nice and couldn't be more accomadating. Room and bathroom where clean and in great condition. One of the nicest hotels I've stayed at.
Review 23:Beautiful old buliding so be prepared for sloping floors and sash cord windows. This was not a negative for us but was for other reviewers.
Review 24:Very good value for money. It is located right in the centre of Midhurst. Beautiful charactet property. Excellent, freshly cooked breakfast using quality ingredients.
Review 25:Poorly maintained in places: shabby carpet on the stairs; lack of handrail made it tricky to carry heavy cases; mouldy bathroom ceiling; broken bedside lamp with sparking plug.
Review 26:Friendly hosts, excellent cooked breakfast with proper coffee. Room was spacious with tasteful decor and a TV with combi DVD player. Good tea/coffee tray with posh biscuits and a scale-free kettle. Clean bathroom fittings. Fab location in the centre of town opposite a historic church.
Review 27:We really enjoyed our stay at the Swan Inn! The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The owners were very friendly and gave us many useful advices for our holiday. Breakfast was delicious! We especially loved the company of the great pub-pug Wilma :-)
Review 28:The Swan Inn owners were both very friendly and helpful and made our weekend stay in Midhurst very enjoyable. They saved the day when they lent me a pair of cufflinks as I had forgotten mine for the Saturday wedding! On both mornings, our breakfasts were nicely cooked and we were supplied with endless cups of tea or coffee.
Review 29:Adrian and Elma went above and beyond to make out stay and enjoyable one. Firstly, as we were stranded waiting for a taxi to take us to a close friends wedding, Adrian kindly stepped in and drove us down in his own car. Even insisting to pay for petrol he said no. Then 3 hours later, one of the catering staff delivered the wedding present we had forget at the Inn. Adrian had kindly driven down again to drop it off. Absolutely exceptional!
Review 30:Mouldy ceiling paper hanging from ensuite ceiling. Wallpaper starting to come away from ceiling in room, staircase holes in wall need repairing and redecorating
Review 31:Breakfast exellent; view from our room and helpfulness of staff
Review 32:Poor mobile reception.
Review 33:Friendly staff, good breakfast, neat and clean rooms. If you're attending an event at the Spread Eagle then the Swan Inn is a cheaper alternative to stay.
Review 34:Lovely room, very friendly owners and great atmosphere. Breakfast was fab too. Was a very good price too in comparison to other venues in the area
Review 35:Clean comfortable rooms. Excellent value for location. Arrived late , owners stayed up to ensure access. Friendly and helpful owners , even gave us a lift to pick up car when getting a taxi was proving difficult. Thoroughly recommend.

Review 38:The rooms are above a lively pub and sounds readily carry until late.
Review 39:The owners and staff were terrific and went out of there way to assist with any request. Nice rooms, breakfast and nice selection of cask ale.
Review 40:None. They were great. Is an old pub so if you want modern and don't like creaky floors, steep stairs or dogs book a plastic place elsewhere
Review 41:They love dogs! A proper local pub with lovely people. The owners have a total affinity with the place
Review 42:A tad cold at times and shower was less than forceful.
Review 43:Staying above a 16th Century pub was delightful. Breakfast was well cooked and tasty. Inn was right in the centre of Midhurst
Review 44:Nothing to dislike, but clearly there is work in progress to update the place. Could have done with fire being lit before breakfast. I am sure present owners will see to any areas for development that are pointed out.
Review 45:Friendly accommodating staff. Homely atmosphere.Central but quiet location. Excellent beer in the bar, a proper pub in all its variety. Good breakfast. Nicely refurbished en suite.
Review 46:We turned up late in the evening due to a long day of cycling. Our room only had a bath but we were allowed to use the shower in another room that wasn't being used. We were made to feel at home and even had food cooked freshly for us at 10pm. The full English the following morning was also excellent. The bikes were securely stored in the cellar and we continued our cycling journey suitably refreshed!
Review 47:spider in the bath! (am an arachniphobe) no teaspoon or drinking glass in the bedroom - although am sure it would have been provide immediately had I asked. stairs could do with a hand rail/rope
Review 48:The fact that the owners spoke to me as if my stay mattered. Nothing was too much trouble. Although this was obviously a man's pub, as a solo female I did not, nor was I made to feel out of place. Food was readily available and there was flexibility in this respect. Parking was not a problem, drinks were not over priced. I would stay there again
