Reviews for Innkeeper's Lodge Stockport, Heaton Chapel
Review 1:Reception is at the end of the pub bar. Not good Car park was busy, it is a popular carvery Don't get a room on the second floor unless you are super fit with no arkward luggage. The stairs are steep, oxygen resus steep. Cooked breakfast cost ( not a lot) extra , and was buffet serve yourself style. Maybe that's just me not liking food kept warm ,drying up, under hot lights. If you like the staff to be quietly efficient, elegantly professional and dedicated to silver like service, tough, you will be disappointed. Think Rovers Return.
Review 2:Nothing fancy just all the important basics done well enough and at a good price. Comfortable bed, good shower, tv worked, clean room, decent decor and good standard furniture. The staff were chirpy hard working lasses. Think Rovers Return. Beer was cheap Carvery was cheap Continental breakfast was included in the price and you could fill up on cereals ,toast, fruit, coffee, tea and fruit juice.
Review 3:Curtains were broken so people could see into room Only one pillow Smelt of chip fat Bathroom was tired looking
Review 4:The staff were very helpful and friendly
Review 5:Room was cold on arrival and beyond staff control a noisy guest kept me awake most of second night, sound travelled easily between rooms.
Review 6:Good size room clean and in good location with food available. Very good value for money lovely staff.
Review 7:Arrived before check-in time and no flexibility to check-in earlier, we're told to wait in bar until 3pm.
Review 8:Good location and a clean comfortable room.
Review 9:Terrible smell up the stairs on route to bedroom. Mattress in bed by wall in room 109 lumpy. Whilst I appreciate and understand why rooms were not cleaned on Christmas Day our room wasn't cleaned the previous day either, and let's be honest toilets do smell if they remain untouched, so I think in future a discount should be applied if rooms are not going go be cleaned!
Review 10:The staff were most helpful.
Review 11:Cannot praise the friendly happy attitude of the staff enough, wonderful stay. We had a four night stay over Christmas, fantastic value for money plus fantastic staff, what more could you ask for. Thank you
Review 12:water in the basin didnt really get hot and had to boil a kettle to have a decent shave. One member of staff was rather off hand when told that the tv wasnt working. No doubt the weather was the culprit, but no proper explanation was given and reassurance that repairs were in hand.. In fact he accused me of calling him a liar. However this was the single negative in a positive weeks experience, apart from very poor in room wi fi,largely due , it was explained to me by a visiting engineer, to the hand held wi fi equipment used to place orders which gobble up band width.
Review 13:comfortable bed and pillows. Some of the staff were very friendly and helpful.. handy for meals of course and good value breakfasts
Review 14:There's nothing to not like.
Review 15:The manger was so friendly and welcoming. As if that was enough for us the staff cleaning team were bright and cheerful. The combination of cleanliness everywhere, great staff and warm atmosphere made our stay wonderful experience. Can't wait to stay again very soon. Great value!
Review 16:The last flight of stairs to 2nd floor which was very steep and if we had known would have asked for a first floor room
Review 17:being able to get a carvery. Good location.
Review 18:Bed a bit soft & pillows very soft & we only had one each. We could probably have asked for more though!
Review 19:Very friendly welcome & helpful staff. Room clean & spacious.
Review 20:The beds are old and far too soft, the curtains were falling down and didn't keep out the light just great when you have a 3 year old and a 3 month old. The showers were terribly dirty and mouldy.
Review 21:The staff IN the hot were lovely the staff on the phones are rude and I'm still waiting for a manager call a week later.
Review 22:The staff were extremely friendly, the food was excellent, the rooms spacious and beds very comfortable. Very good location. Would strongly recommend this to others!!
Review 23:Clean and tidy room. Closeness of an excellent eating establishment is an added bonus. 5 minute walk from Heaton Chapel Railway Station was important for our journey into/out of Manchester.
Review 24:The only downside was that the rooms are up a fairly narrow staircase which became a bit steep. Could be a problem with luggage bigger than a flight bag
Review 25:very friendly staff. Good, wholesome food. It's well placed for Manchester and it's well worth paying a visit to the war time air raid shelters in the town centre. Fascinating museum
Review 26:The place generally lacked sparkle, looked a bit tired. Also no hot chocolate available at 9.15 p.m.
Review 27:Breakfast was excellent and breakfast staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 28:The staff we all very pleasant and helpful, particularly Mike for whom nothing was too much trouble. The meals in the Toby restaurant were exceptional value and we had no complaints at all during the 4 nights we ate there.
Review 29:fusty smells on corridors, and room106 was above kitchen, and extractor fan was switched on in kitchen at 5.30am very noisy. people smoking at entrance was unpleasant, on a nice day like it was we couldnt sit outside because of cigarette smoke
Review 30:menu wasent that good when we had lunch could be doing with more variety, second lot of stairs were steep up to second floor rooms not recomended for old people or children
Review 31:friendley staff make you feel welcome when you arive, very clean
Review 32:Toilet door did not close so requested different room. Also stairs too steep.
Review 33:Good carvery. Room adequate, basic and clean. Inn near our son,s so is convenient.
Review 34:Only downside was we was given a disabled room & shower was very low down & with a injury to my side i needed to stand which was not possible.
Review 35:Had a amazing weekend in Manchester & highly recommend this place ..lovely spacious room, very clean lovely staff & AMAZING breakfast! Compliments to the chefs!
Review 36:Bathroom door banged on the sink, , and carpets in the foyer and on the stairs smelt musty. Menu limited if you don't want the carvery.
Review 37:Very friendly staff
Review 38:Limited to carvery meals at dinner. We were originally booked into a larger room but an error was made with the key number and we ended up in a smaller room with a small window over the kitchen vent.
Review 39:Location to where we wanted to be close to family was great. Staff were very friendly
Review 40:Place is in need of a refurb, but generally okay for a short stay.
Review 41:Convenient location and helpful and friendly staff - if you like Sunday roasts - not much choice.
Review 42:The helpful staff, who were responsive to my queries. The full English breakfast was excellent - plenty to choose from, and as much as one could eat. Overall good value for money.
Review 43:I tried to use the hairdryer as I had forgotten mine. It was not very good though. The other issue, I had was the stairs were very steep and without a lift. I have mobility difficulties which did not help. I would stay again, however would request a room on the first floor.
Review 44:The room was tastefully decorated.
Review 45:The room was cold on arrival but there was an oil filled radiator which we had on most of the time.
Review 46:The hotel is very near my daughter's home and the rooms are good value for money. The rooms are clean and comfortable and offer free wifi - essential nowadays.
Review 47:no lift to the upper floors. we had heavy suitcases and it was hard to get them up three flights of n arrow stairs.
Review 48:great food, nice staff. comfy and clean room.
Review 49:Being on the top floor and suffering with a bad back was a problem. We were going to come down for a meal on the first night but i couldnt face climbing all those stairs again.
Review 50:lovely friendly pub atmosphere. Nice, clean bedroom and very quiet as was at the back of the hotel.
Review 51:Stale smell on stairs. Could not use WiFi because I don't have a UK phone.
Review 52:Good location, quiet room, well appointed, comfortable, excellent price, good breakfast. Staff most pleasant and helpful in every way.
Review 53:Management lady was rude and not very customer focused had an issue with breakfast and a refund. The staff seemed more competent and friendly than the manager
Review 54:Friendly staff and good food. Room was value for money
Review 55:The smells from the kitchen I know this can't be helped .needs a good painting looks bit tired
Review 56:always tea and coffee in your room .location good easy to get to shops if you drive but 10 min if walk
Review 57:WIFI says you do not need a password but demands your mobile number to send you the password! It then wont send to a foreign phone therefore no WIFI!
Review 58:Location, room cleanliness, tea and coffee making facility,
Review 59:Wifi reception pretty bad; did not manage to login at all. Not being able to book further rooms/ nights on the spot. Either have to phone or use non- existent wifi or mobile network.
Review 60:Comfortable bed and good breakfast except for lack of hot chocolate option for kids.
Review 61:arrived on friday about 7 30 and booked in asked for sandwich only to be told they stopped doing sandwiches at 7 30 surely when people are travelling for two or three hours and dont want a heavy meal they should be able to get a sandwich
Review 62:lovely place to stay, room was clean and fresh bathroom was clean and tidy.great breakfast for just £3.99 recommend this place to all travellers
Review 63:Just a suggestion that De-caff tea bags would also be much appreciated.
Review 64:Spacious room with two chairs(!!) ,excellent tea, coffee and biscuits all replenished each day - even de-caff coffee . Great Toby Carvery . Continental breakfast also included.
Review 65:Room was a bit cold and the smell of the carvery was potent!
Review 66:We stayed here for an interview locally. Ideal location for the university. Clean and staff were welcoming. Quick checkout.
Review 67:is there a lift? as i could not find one.
Review 68:Separate entrance to the hotel is brilliant - instead of walking through the bar! Quick check-in and then no hassle throughout stay. Hotel room is warm and cozy and the bed is always comfortable. I stay here regularly because price, location and hotel is great!
Review 69:The bathroom was not clean toilet did nt flush properly and when it did it was so noisy for 10 mins smelly bedding uncomfy bed curtains did not close cold room no extra bedding premire inn was 100% better
Review 70:Breakfast
Review 71:-The entrance to the hotel rooms was separate to the bar! - The rooms were perfect size - and the windows opened slightly (which is great) - The beds were comfortable!
Review 72:room was a little bit cool when we first entered.
Review 73:the whole package was v.f.m. very convenient for bus travel into the heart of manchester, room clean, tidy and near to ground floor as requested.
Review 74:noise of what I think was a fan (possibly from the kitchen?) close to my room which went on through the night. Very steep stairway to rooms on the upper floor. Decor somewhat dated.
Review 75:value for money, amiable staff, good size car park and a station close by. Easy transport links into Manchester. Food available on site if required - great value breakfast.
Review 76:Electrics were faulty on the Sunday morning making drying our hair difficult and this meant the carvery lunch was cancel and ourselves and friends we were visiting had to eat elsewhere.
Review 77:Lovely greeting on arrival Comfortable clean room Value for money Access to our room past midnight
Review 78:Disabled room bed a bit hard for us.WOULD HAVE SORTED PILLOW out if staying more than one night.
Review 79:The welcoming ambience. Overall I've had no better accommodation at double and treble the price. Usually don't sleep very well first night in strange bed. Did very much better this time. Visiting relatives who live nearby, location was spot on for us.
Review 80:Electricity went off intermittently in the morning! Could not use the bathroom to shave etc. No apology and no explanation offered when handing in the keys. We left not prepared for our day! In fact ruined our day.Very disappointed!
Review 81:Food excellent
Review 82:No lights, TV or shower In morning as electric went off in the middle of the night and never came back on. No cooked breakfast available in morning as no electric and was looking forward to and had to settle for cereal and yoghurt. Smell & noise from extractor outside room window.
Review 83:Location. Carvery very good Room decoration very nice just cobwebs.
Review 84:You have to pay for wifi. Room was a little cold.
Review 85:friendly staff, comfortable room and the location was good - between Stockport and Manchester. Nice to have a bar downstairs serving cheap food.
Review 86:Room was freezing even though heating was on.
Review 87:Room was clean lots of tea and coffee ,good clean bed and clean towels. It is a three star and lives up to that.
Review 88:Nothing
Review 89:Very handy for Christie Hospital where my husband had an appointment. Staff very friendly. Room great, clean and very comfortable bed. Everything in room we needed. Food from Toby Carvery good in the evening as was breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
Review 90:For some reason we think in England continental breakfast means a slice of toast and an apple- also bed was extremely hard
Review 91:The carvery adjoining the hotel was excellent which meant we didn't have to search for eating establishments
Review 92:You need to register for internet every new day but it's still better than paid Internet. It would be much easier to pay for breakfasts or dinners at once at the end of the stay.
Review 93:It was a pefect place for our business travel south of Manchester. Good price. Large and clean room. Free and large parking, free internet with good connection, full English breakfast for £4 from 7am, restaurant (carvery) and bar with a good choice of beers at the hotel.
Review 94:the room I had on the front of the hotel sufferd a lilltle from the road noise
Review 95:The location and friendly staff the carvery was very good quality and value
Review 96:The extractor fan from the restaurant running until about midnight and back on again at about 6am...right under our window. Cooking smells in room so could not ventilate room.
Review 97:Too d service. Good location. Co we to airport and all amenities for travellers.
Review 98:contorted access to / between daytime areas and bedrooms. Very steep / narrow stairs for cases. Name long winded with 'Toby Carvery' as well.
Review 99:General atmosphere. Friendly staff
Review 100:Cleaning could be better on staircase leading up to the room
Review 101:Pleasant good sized room No noise from street Friendly staff Ok breakfast Close to airport All in all good value for money
Review 102:Parking was a bit difficult and we had to leave for the airport too early to have breakfast.
Review 103:Loved the proximity to the Toby carvery so good value restaurant available without leaving the building. Room clean and comfortable with strong wifi signal.
Review 104:No lift and the stairs were fairly steep to the second floor. We were fortunate we were able to leave our large bags in our car because it would have been extremely difficult to get them up the stairs
Review 105:The attached carvery restaurant was very convenient and good value for money. Cannot really comment on location with regard places of interest as the choice of accommodation was influenced by visit to friends in the area. Room was adequate in size with large well-appointed bathroom.
Review 106:Hotel check-in was at the bar, so you had to wait to be served, so to speak.
Review 107:Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Cooked breakfast was good. Interesting breakfast idea of not giving you a fork until you'd paid for the breakfast!
Review 108:Some of the communal areas were a bit dismal continental breakfast was quite poor ...toasters didnt work , no butter for two days only spead. we stay in a lot of these lodges and this is the poorest breakfast yet . but the price you pay cannot be beaten elsewhere.
Review 109:The downstairs room was fab for me ...no stairs to negotiate. shower to die for and comfy clean room.
Review 110:No bath.Shower curtain not sufficiently long enough to keep water in shower area.
Review 111:Good location, very near local railway station.Toby carvery handy for good quality cheap meals.Room very comfortable with everything we needed. No noise to disturb our sleep.
Review 112:The main building was advertised as a brewers fare,I was looking for the proper name, this caused me some problems finding it.One night I was advised to eat at 9 pm. to avoid the crowds. When I came to eat no turkey was left.As I do not like red meat this proved a major problem. The extractor fan in the bathroom was on continually,Normally they switch off after so many minutes.I have suffered from athletes foot,I found this condition reappearing after 2 days. The shower needs to be sanitised after each persons use.
Review 113:Good location,parking easy.
Review 114:The stairs to the second floor were steep and there was no lift. The window was hard to keep open and it was a warm night.
Review 115:The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was adequate. It was quiet. The bed was comfortable.
Review 116:The fire alarm set off at 6.45am.We think another guest had been smoking & its no smoking accomodation
Review 117:spotlessly clean bedding & towels, new bathroom, very comfortable room. We would stay here again & can recommend this hotel.
Review 118:Floorboards in room above us v. noisy as was the toilet when flushed. Only one window would open making the room hot and stuffy so had to leave it open at night. This resulted in being woken early with the noise of the traffic.
Review 119:Helpful staff Good value food space to park. good location for our needs
Review 120:some of the staff could have been a bit more friendly.
Review 121:good location for getting into manchester. train station nearby which was better than the bus which was very slow at times. In need of a facelift. Food was fairly good and reasonable.
Review 122:For this visitor, the hotel has 2 main problems: one, the check-in 'area' is awkward as it is simply a corner of the bar where people also wait to be seated at tables in the dining-rooms. This led to some confusion on my recent visit, particularly as the manager (or clerk or barman?) did not identify himself; and two, the pervasive odor of food, more on the lines of stale cabbage than succulent roast, which strikes one immediately on entering the hotel, be it the rear residents' area or bar. While this is admittedly difficult to address given the proximity of the restaurant, more could be done to mitigate it, i.e. opening windows or using air fresheners.
Review 123:The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. I like the idea of a night porter who can assist when guests have to leave very early in the morning. The single rooms are understandably small but adequate. The rooms on my 2 visits have been spotlessly clean. In my view the hotel offers good value for money and I would come again despite my 2 reservations about the facilities.
Review 124:The stairs!! Quite narrow steep stairs to the second floor. No good when carrying luggage.
Review 125:Room and bed was comfortable, food excellent and very reasonably priced. Wi-Fi provision was excellent.
Review 126:The room I stayed in was right over where the truck was unloading first thing on the morning so I was awake from 6 o clock in the morning. Not a happy bunny at all.
Review 127:The staff where very friendly. I did not have a evening meal as I had late meeting's. So I am not able to comment on the dinner.
Review 128:Horrible Stairs, no use if legs not good. (Which was the case with us) Could not find a lift if there was one nobody around to show us.
Review 129:Close to Airport Restaurant Good Rooms Nice
Review 130:There wasn't anything to not like!
Review 131:We arrived while the pub was exceedingly busy serving food but were still given a friendly, quick and efficient welcome. The shower room was spotless and the bed very comfortable
Review 132:Bar closes at 11.00pm, even at weekends. No residents lounge. Steep stairs to second floor but no lift.
Review 133:Value for Money. Pub and Restaurant on site. Ample free parking. Quiet rooms to rear of building.
Review 134:we were on the top floor which had a narrow staircase. i would request the 1st floor next time
Review 135:very nice hotel, Carver was great and very popular. Breakfast was also very good
Review 136:The restaurant. It was cheap, but the food was not good.
Review 137:A clean and comfortable room, ideal for a short stopover.
Review 138:Overall appearance a little dated but staff try hard to make the best of what they have.
Review 139:Staff very helpful. Room clean. Fair value for money.
Review 140:Being asked each day if we would like are room serviced. Second day room NOT serviced!!COM
Review 141:good location for visiting family. staff friendly.
Review 142:Nice room, superb breakfast. Must have the onion and bacon pudding.
