Reviews for Jolly Brewers Free House Inn
Review 1:Bathroom was old but not a problem
Review 2:The staff were lovely, nice room, nice little pub. Super comfortable bed. An easy 5 minute walk to town and an easy drive to stansted airport
Review 3:Busy road. Small and unmodern tv. Bathroom could do with some refubishment as well rest of the furnish, a bit scruffy.
Review 4:Accomodating staff let us check in early. Good service. Ok bed. Nice tea tray. Near to town.
Review 5:The bed was very hard, no hairdryer, outside motel style rooms.
Review 6:Town centre location but on a busy road. Good basic value for money accommodation - a one night stay only I would suggest.
Review 7:This could be a great spot filling a much-needed accommodation gap in bsif it hadn't been for the cheap fittings and workmanship. Ie Loosetoilet seat Wash basin far too low Leaking radiator Bad light fittings
Review 8:Very friendly check-in chap. Large tv Good wifi Clean Central Close tostation: but be warned: because of heavy rain and wind and not knowingexact distance my daughter and I jumped in a taxi (3.70). Taxi driverwas beyond rude, driving badly and throwing my change at me as he was,no doubt, "offended" by short drive.
Review 9:The service from the proprietor was brusque and business-like. I would have to say a bit lacking in the warmth of the welcome, With just a little bit more effort on that front I would have raised the rating considerably. Also a bit more guidance on where to get breakfast would be nice.
Review 10:Very clean and comfortable room. Previous reviewers had made an issue of the road noise but we did not find it to be a significant problem..
Review 11:Being on a busy main road with no double glazed window and a gap round the front door made sleeping difficult.
Review 12:2 minute walk to centre of Bishop Stortford's restaurants and bars. Comfy bed. Very lovely bar staff in pub.
Review 13:Stained carpet, 2 single duvets on double bed, smell of damp, light over basin not working, basin tap swivelled, heated towel rail not working, dirt towel.
Review 14:Friendly staff, 5 minute walk to town centre
Review 15:Was given a sour pint in the pub but it was cheerfully changed for a superb one immediately!
Review 16:Our stay at The Jolly Brewers was quiet even though it's near the town centre and within easy walking distance of several good late-evening restaurants, we went Italian. Also, The JBs is ideally situated for an early morning short drive to Stansted Airport parking.
Review 17:Noisy, noisy, noisy. Pub tables immediately outside room with drunken revellers noisy till gone closing time. Also beside very busy road. Dark, stuffy room with only one window. Only way to get ventilation/ fresh air was to have window open, the very same window that overlooked the pub tables. Never again.

Review 19:Room is basically in the pub car park people shouting, talking andlaughing very loudly outside window till midnight. Was annoying andstressful. Picture on booking dot com makes it look like it's in thecountry, it's not, next to a busy road up until midnight however wasvery quiet all through the night.
Review 20:Room was very clean and comfortable, modern feel.
Review 21:friendly and helpful staff.this is to say thanks to the staff who went out of their wayto get me jump leads as we came back to a flat battery. room was clean and tidy ideal for overnight stay for airport
Review 22:It's my opinion it's a little over priced when I pay that sort of money I would expect a breakfast with it. Apart from that it's a nice place
Review 23:It was a tidy room friendly staff
Review 24:We stayed in a cabin near the road which was quite noisy when traffic went by.
Review 25:Accommodating host and the pub built into the lobby was great. Bed and everything was very nice, no complaints.
Review 26:There is nothing I didn't like but if they served breakfast that would have been the icing on the cake
Review 27:The convenience of where it is and the fact there is parking right outside your door which was most important. Clean rooms and ensuite facilities, very comfy beds and great value for money.
Review 28:The toilet when flushed made a terrible noise, nowhere to charge mobile phone,to near road traffic kept us awake and could hear people talking outside for a while, room wasnt very dark blackout blinds would help
Review 29:Beds were comfortable.landlady showed us to the room explained every thing.its a keypad entry system and as we would be back late changed the code so it was easy to enter in the dark
Review 30:Road noise suggest adding triple glazed window and a proper wind and rain proof door seal. This would help reduce noise at night. Stain on the carpet right beside the bed
Review 31:The room was warm and comfortable. Spent time in the pub, nice people and a good pint.
Review 32:On a busy road so not the quietest of places. No one there in the morning in the pub because I had to leave early, but again the manager answered my text immediately and it was all fine.
Review 33:It was very late at night due to a plane delay so I arrived at 1 am. The manager texted me clear instructions and I got in without seeing anyone, just keying in numbers directly on the room's door! It is motel style and worked well for me.
Review 34:The location is ok for one night e.g. prior to a flight but all rooms lie next to a very noisy street. We did not see much of the town but what we saw was certainly not interesting.
Review 35:Very nice staff and a good and well equipped room
Review 36:Road traffic noise Little privacy (bedroom was on ground floor, directly facing the street)
Review 37:Staff helpful (I had to check in after midnight and they were there to help) Good wi-fi Bathroom clean Few minutes' walk to railway station and STD express
Review 38:man very friendly, large bed with very comfortable mattress, everything very clean, tea, coffee, biscuits, etc.. Quality of an good hotel for the price of a B&B.
Review 39:Bathroom could do with updating and an extra chair would be good
Review 40:Location, within walking distance of Bishops Stortford town centre. Good bed and linen
Review 41:The room had a coded lock. There was no internal locking mechanism. Anyone who knew the room code could enter my room. As a woman travelling alone, I found it unnerving and insecure.
Review 42:Although it was clean, rooms were tired. could do with a re paint & check that everything works.
Review 43:easy parking, close to centre, no check out, friendly staff. ideal stay over for a night out, its not luxury but its as good as a travelodge
Review 44:You have to sign terms and conditions on arrival, which is the last thing you need after a long journey. The room was not very clean and the shower was temperamental.
Review 45:Friendly welcome
Review 46:I was staying on own, stayed two nights and had drunks shouting and swearing outside my door at 3am in the morning for both the nights, felt very vunerable and hated my stay.
Review 47:The owners were very nice and helpful.
Review 48:Road traffic never really stops.
Review 49:Friendly landlady and staff. Room basic but spotless with good shower. No breakfast or snacks available but we knew that when we booked. Cafés and restaurants and shopping centre within easy walk.
Review 50:All the staff were so welcoming and friendly, they made our stay fantastic, we felt like family. The landlady went out of her way to help us with travel arrangements Lovely place to stay
Review 51:Pass
Review 52:I myself was unable to travel but my brother who had come from spain was very pleased indeed I am thinking of coming down and will certainly consider staying.
Review 53:Tv's in the room need to be updated.
Review 54:Staff very friendly, selection of drinks good and a pool table to boot. Rooms clean and tidy, very good showers
Review 55:The only thing would be that the walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbours every move , so I can imagine if you had a particularly noisy neighbour it might make your stay a little unpleasant
Review 56:To access your room you are simply given a code for the door which saves time and fussing about checking in the usual away, especially if like us you are arriving late, you can just go straight to your room, the same with check out. It was the cosset reasonably priced hotel we could get close to sonisphere festival at short notice, Bishops stortford is a lovely little town!
Review 57:Just a shame they stopped serving food at 3pm.
