Reviews for Premier Inn Hemel Hempstead Central
Review 1:I didn't like the bed at all. I thought it was very very small for two people! I didn't sleep much at all the two nights I had. I thought the hotel was too warm also.
Review 2:I like the location of hotel.
Review 3:There is no free parking. We parked for an hour on a side street and got a penalty.
Review 4:Breakfast was abundant and tasty., rooms were clean and hotel is in the centre of town.
Review 5:Car parking was a two minute walk away but this was monitored 24 hrs by a security guard.
Review 6:Location was good (although a little tricky to find initially) nearest tube station was a 5-10 minute walk. We were, however, greeted by someone who stood outside the property as we arrived who was very friendly and helped us with our cases.
Review 7:Had room Booked for two nights three days. Asked for a few more towels on evening of second night - hotel staff said they had ran out of towels ?!!! What kind of hotel doesn't have towels. They gave us a small hand towel - Instead of a large showering sized towel. Kept calling reception - no answer , therefore frequent trips to go down.
Review 8:Great sized room!
Review 9:How hot the room was and would appear to be a ongoing problem. Friends and family have stayed here before and had the same issue the air conditioning does not work it is not connected the room gets very hot only way to cool it is to open the window which has a limiter on it then it becomes noisy and during the night cold Premier pried claim to guarantee a good nights sleep not the case here
Review 10:Staff, price, location for shopping and transport
Review 11:Nothing at all.
Review 12:I stayed here to travel into London to volunteer for a few days with a charity. The location was excellent for the train station, parking is close, easy to find and reasonable in price. The check in staff were really friendly, the room was fabulous. No negatives here.
Review 13:toilet not very clean. Asked for it to be done while I was out, and they assured me very fervently it would be. It was n't. Next day cleaning was n't much better, and the bin had the drips and streaks on it from the day before.
Review 14:location near shops, if you wanted them, was goof, whilst it was also nice and quiet at night.
Review 15:We had 2 rooms (203 and 204) and one room was so hot no-one slept very well - you hire a hotel room to sleep in! As the room was so HOT tried to turn the heat down to no avail, couldn't use the free-standing fan in the room as it was dangerous and was a Health & Safety risk because it had no front guard. I mentioned this to the receptionist on departure, she said it would be dealt with by housekeeping but the point is it shouldn't have been left like that in the first place especially as it's a family room! Apparently these 2 rooms had air-con (one did) as the first phase of installation, the second room was obviously malfunctioning! So very disappointed with the second room! Also, £4 car parking charge - why when your other hotels are free!
Review 16:Clean rooms Centre location Breakfast included - good breakfast
Review 17:I don't really have any complaints. It is local to my family and suits us perfectly.
Review 18:Situated by shopping centre. Spacious room. Everything changed regularly. Staff always pleasant.
Review 19:(1) The room was uncomfortably hot and we could not open the window. It was not possible to regulate the heating. The duvet was 'Arctic' rated when summer was more appropriate. This is not a complaint but we think you need to be aware. (2) We were miffed to find on arrival that a charge for car parking had been introduced. This was not mentioned at the time of booking and it was not our experience on the previous occasions that we stayed at this hotel. It smacks of a Ryan Air practice!
Review 20:central location Comfortable bed Helpful staff
Review 21:The room was far too hot even with the window open and fans on all 3 of us were awake at 4 in the morning unable to sleep.
Review 22:Friendly staff ease of parking
Review 23:Ensure you are aware of the parking facilities and location BEFORE you arrive. Can be tricky if you are not aware to park at the Riverside Car park adjoining the hotel by walkway.
Review 24:Excellent Staff and hospitality. Could not have been more friendly and helpful. Dinner and Breakfast of very good quality. Recommended.
Review 25:Parking was previously free and now £4 per day. Not a huge problem however a little annoying. Rooms were also extremely hot even with windows open.
Review 26:Locations great for shopping.
Review 27:Could do with a bigger tv in the room, as they have in other premier inns. Difficult to see from all the beds.
Review 28:Staff very friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable.
Review 29:Bath was a bit narrow but then I'm used to having a large tub
Review 30:Best nights sleep for a long time, didn't want to get up .pillows and quilt just melted into me . Location was good, short bus journey to rail station and next to all the shops. Food was lovely, good value and good service
Review 31:Staff have become corporate robots. Rules have changed full amount taken on arrival. Cannot split between cash and card you may as well pay in advance and save. Car park is now charged it used to be free. We could have stayed at another hotel and been treated as a customer. Noise in our area was so bad we got one night refund.
Review 32:Room was comfortable. Very clean
Review 33:Closed restaurant early had to go out with kids after 9 o clock AND closed the breakfast early and had to get refund for it. And got charged for a no show when I was at the hotel and had to call after I got home get it returned. Staff did not know what they were doing.. Very poor.
Review 34:The food was good when you get to have it!!
Review 35:Multi storey Car park doesn't belong to hotel, however used by premier Inn. On two occasions kids running round the car park when I went in. Car was ok for three days but made me doubt if it was totally secure.
Review 36:Nice clean hotel. Staff friendly and very helpful. Would say breakfast isn't brilliant, not the fault of hotel though, just quality of ingredients. Evening meal very nice.
Review 37:If I had to change anything, it would be the Hash Browns. They were a bit oily.
Review 38:Restaurant staff were very efficient. Helpful staff at Reception were able to look after my bag between check-out and leaving.
Review 39:Bed was rather small for two people sharing, car park was not sign posted so took me ages to actually find this and found out I wasn't even using the correct car park, room wasn't cleaned and we had to ask the lady who was stood in corridor for clean towels and fresh tea bags milk etc as our room was missed
Review 40:Friendly staff, central to shops so alot around. Food and drinks fair price and nice
Review 41:parking arrangements (not able to find without staff's guidance) and extra payment for the parking quadruple room - not enough space for 4 people to move around
Review 42:comfortable double bed very helpful staff team
Review 43:The rooms are really warm. They do have fans in and they did get used to make it more comfortable!
Review 44:The staff are fantastic. Even those ' In Training' are really very good. The customer care is fantastic!
Review 45:No AC (building under repair) so very hot. The room was extremely cramped for 4, with no space between beds. Tired, dated hotel with one lift that didn't work.
Review 46:Friendly, Helpful staff. Nice central location
Review 47:I had no complaints!
Review 48:A clean, comfortable hotel in a great location. Only ten minutes away from the attraction we were visiting. The staff (front desk and restaurant) were lovely, especially with our 8 year old son. The food in the restaurant (morning and night) was delicious!
Review 49:Poor nights sleep both nights as the room was very warm and the fan provided did little to help. I understand it was a top floor room and there is no air-com but if thats what it was like in october I would hate to see what it was like in the middle of summer!
Review 50:Room was spacious and clean in a good central area. Restaurant was nice and the staff were friendly.
Review 51:This is the second time we have stayed here. The staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and polite. The hotel has very high standards of cleanliness. Perfect central location for shopping/restaurants/transport into London. Lovely food and very reasonably priced bar. Very comfortable stay.
Review 52:The room was overwhelmingly hot. The window barely opened, presumably for security and there was no air conditioning. Sadly we didnt have the best nights sleep. We advised the receptionist the following morning who sadly shrugged it off with a simple 'sorry'. This was the only bad experience of the trip.
Review 53:When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with warm welcome. We had drinks in the bar before going to our room to offload. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb. We couldnt believe the amount that was on offer. So fresh and delicious too.
Review 54:One complaint we had to get to Luton airport early on Sunday morning booked an alarm call for 4am in case my phone alarm didn´t go off but the call never came I told reception they apologised and time they had to call our room was at 4.30am which would´ve been too late if we´d overslept. I´m tall but we found the beds very high.
Review 55:The fact that there was a restaurant and bar within the hotel was very convenient. Although high the bed was very comfortable.
Review 56:Had kids running up and down the corridor till 10 o'clock at night and again first thing in the morning the bar was like a kids playground
Review 57:Location was good and the size of the room
Review 58:You should think about a laundry service within your premise, thank you.
Review 59:Location is excellent with good views from any direction and comfort stay for the last 20 days !
Review 60:When arriving it's hard to find parking to get checked in as there is no private parking for the hotel
Review 61:The general hotel was very clean, every area of it,the rooms were very spacious and comfy beds, the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times
Review 62:The room was really hot with only a fan in it? made the night really uncomfortable. The bed was really high and the pillows were so uncomfortable. There was a car park that could be included with the hotel, I went to the hotel first to ask if there was a car park close and they gave directions like we lived there, never been there in my live. It was by chance that we came across a multi storey car park which was also used by this hotel. Would have been good if they gave the name of the car park or a leaflet with the directions. Finally should guests really be ordering pizza and eating it in the bar at night? Felt the hotel was not being ran properly
Review 63:There is one major issue I had and that is that the window in my room could barely be opened. I understand this was for safety reasons, however, my room was extremely hot and I just wanted a bit of fresh air before going to bed. Getting in some air into the room was practically impossible because of the window blockers.
Review 64:The room was a little too hot as there was no aircon. They provided fans but these were just blowing around hot air after a while
Review 65:The hotel and staff were amazing, very helpful and great with my children. Great location too
Review 66:I bought some capuccino coffe sachets and on the third day of my stay they were either thrown out or removed from my room though I hadn't finished them.
Review 67:Everything was fine.enjoyed the happy hour.
Review 68:The whole place was overheated. It felt like a sauna. This wasn't such a problem during the day, but at night it was still too hot and difficult to sleep, even with only sheets on the bed. A pity, as the hotel is nice, very well situated and comfortable.
Review 69:Friendly and helpful staff. Room nice and comfortable, location excellent, in the centre of the town.
Review 70:Overnight parking costs £4 in nearby public car park. Air conditioning in room didn't work. This shouldn't be a problem but the hotel room was very hot and we had a restless night.
Review 71:Good location, friendly staff
Review 72:We wasn't called or told about the air-con didn't work however we had two fans in the room but didn't really cool the room down. The beds were awful we booked this hotel as they always say the rooms are the best however I must of slept an hour at the most. When we went to check out we wasn't asked how I stay was or what we thought the lady seemed to be short in conversation and in a rush,
Review 73:Hotel right into the town centre
Review 74:the air conditioning wasn't working ,so the room was very hot. The staff had put fans in the room to help but was just blowing hot air ,so didn't help much. as a family we all struggled to get a good night sleep.
Review 75:nice clean room, breakfast was a good standard.
Review 76:Not the hotels fault but the traffic system is such that it is impossible for cars to stop or wait outside the hotel entrance.
Review 77:Friendly helpful staff. Great breakfasts. Bathtubs with high pressure hot water and super-comfy beds
Review 78:The room was very hot had a fan but it was very noisy kept me awake
Review 79:Great location excellent staff and excellent service spotlessly clean wonderful breakfast
Review 80:Due to refurb, the rooms were really unbearably hot and even though we were given a fan, we still could not sleep.
Review 81:Great bed, staff lovely, large room and great breakfast
Review 82:No reduction for single occupancy as part of a family booking. Introduction of new policy to charge for parking. Trolly still needed for luggage.
Review 83:Convenience and relaxed atmosphere.
Review 84:We had quite a job finding the hotel, postcode kept sending us elsewhere. Also quite a drive to then get around to the car park. Rooms very hot, air conditioning would help. Also our family room had beds all over the place and not really in helpful positions.
Review 85:The hotel had an excellent breakfast. Cooked items no fault at all, nice to see bagels and pancakes. Also a smoothie option, makes a change from squash or tea.
Review 86:Only down side on this stay was the lack of air con and even with the fans provided it did make sleeping impossible.
Review 87:We've stayed there before and love the shopping and its location, near enough to London. The staff remember you and remember my daughter dancing at challenge cup final. Little things mean a lot.
Review 88:Car parking needs to be made clearer as very confusing & postcode takes you to a bus only lane.
Review 89:Fantastic hotel, ideal location will be using again
Review 90:Wifi wasnt connecting for some reason
Review 91:The location situated near high street shops, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was superb and a great choice for the children
Review 92:lovely hotel, centrally located, with really nice staff the only thing was our room was very hot and the staff put a fan in to cool it. We had to have it on all night so the noise was a bit distracting and with two young boys playing it was another thing to watch out for.
Review 93:The air con was broken on one of the hottest days of the year and they didn't tell us until we paid at check-in. Window didn't open. They provided a fan but it was unbearable.
Review 94:Ideal location for us, good hotel standards, and to be told on numerous occasions that nothing was too much trouble, good to see a dedicated restuarant manager.
Review 95:Lack of air con :( Obviously just temporary and we all received full refunds, but would've stayed elsewhere had we known these works were taking place.
Review 96:The hotel was spotless! The staff were very helpful and it was in a great location for myself and other visiting family.
Review 97:The air conditioning wasn't working and it was very very hot, making the night very uncomfortable We weren't able to sleep well and were very uncomfortable because of it which is a shame
Review 98:The food was excellent including the £22.99 meal deal Staff we very helpful and understanding
Review 99:Bed was very hard and the first night was much too hot to sleep. We were all exhausted on the Saturday consequently. Air con wasn't working in rooms they provided fans but still too hot with two adults and two children sharing a room.
Review 100:Friendly staff
Review 101:No air co the room was absolutely boiling the fan provided was far too loud and the window couldn't be left open due to road traffic noise so we all laid on the beds and cooked, glad the bed was comfy! Apparently this is getting resolved. We were given a full refund so more than happy if not s little tired!
Review 102:Staff fantastic and friendly apart from one miserable women at breakfast, but that shouldn't detract from everyone else who were all friendly and happy to help in any way they could.
Review 103:The air-conditioning unit was not working (due to a refurb.) & despite being given a fan, the rooms were stifling hot.
Review 104:Helpful staff & good location, with parking very close by.
Review 105:The bedrooms were too hot, but the staff had already explained why and provision had been put in place so no complaints there If the staff could have improved the weather.. it would have been perfect! :)
Review 106:ALL the staff who were on duty between 12th - 15th August were brilliant, very friendly and helpful - they really helped make our stay enjoyable, will definitely return. The menu was very good and the meal deal was great for us and happy hour was a bonus too :)
Review 107:The air conditioning was broken and the corridors and rooms where like a sauna. This was not communicated before arrival and therefore I had to spend one night having had a terrible nights sleep before I could find an alternative to stay for the rest of the week. They also charged £4 per day for car parking in a multi storey shopping centre car park, this was not disclosed on the web site at the time of booking. We had dinner on the night of arrival and the meal was terrible, my chicken was burned and my friends meal was dry and looked like it had been microwaved several times! The service in the restaurant was also poor. The only redeeming feature was that the reception staff where incredibly understanding and did give us a refund on the night that we had to stay in the hotel. This hotel is not cheap in comparison to a Travel Lodge and therefore you would expect a decent standard of stay, however, it was far from decent and I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to anyone else.
Review 108:The location of the hotel is great and the staff where very friendly.
Review 109:The air conditioning was not working therefore room really hot to try to sleep. However we were told about this when booking in and fans provided in the room.
Review 110:George was excellent- very helpful and friendly. It was clean, quiet and comfortable.
Review 111:Far to hot....... Very uncomfortable through the night we did have 2 fans but it just circulated hot air the windows are safety so barely opened.
Review 112:Fantastic staff very helpful clean comfortable room.
Review 113:No air conditioning it was really uncomfortable and ruined the weekend though lack of sleep and the fan we had in the room was very dusty
Review 114:Central location and very helpful staff
Review 115:Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Ordered an omelet next day for breakfast, it was cooked just the way I like them.
Review 116:1) There was no Iron , had to request expliciltly. 2) There was no locker available inside the rooms 3) For single individuals the rate should be lesser as I had to pay for a double room . there was an extra bad also which was not needed. not sure if all the rooms are alike s or due to unavailability, I was given. 4) Some service should be there to transfer luggage to / from room.
Review 117:Liked the location of the property . Also Staff was very honest one of my friend found her lost stuff even after check out.
Review 118:The hotel room was of good size, the bath and shower had good variable water heat and pressure along with body and hair soap provided. Bed was large and alternative pillows were in the wardrobe to suit preferences. Tea making facilities were available (which is always a must for me when staying at hotels).
Review 119:The only criticism I have is the hotel rooms are far to hot, this did impact on my sleep a little & when I got up in the morning & had a shower it hardly seemed worth it as I was sweating again 5 mins later, however this would not put me off staying again
Review 120:Staff exceptionally friendly (apart from the lady behind the bar) not the best advert for the hotel however will not let that take anything away from the rest of the staff who bent over backwards to be helpful.... Also being a vegetarian I was impressed with the choice of quorn sausage at breakfast never seen that in a hotel before, loved the happy hour on drinks had a really nice realxing couple of hours sat in the bar with lovely wine not overpriced like most hotels, really enjoyable & will defiantly look out for premier hotel deals again when travelling
Review 121:Only bad thing was the heat in the room which can become uncomfortable when you are trying to sleep , could imagine it being quite tough with younger children as the fans that were supplied in the room just blows the hot air around and doesnt really cool you down.
Review 122:The rooms were a little hot as there is no air conditioning so we called reception and we requested another fan which was delivered very promptly , we also ran out of milk and again it was delivered within minutes , so excellent customer care , would definitely stay again .
Review 123:We had problems with the room being extremely hot, to be fair they did warn us they were having trouble with cooling, but not until we got there. Also it a bit of a walk from the car park, which you have to get car park ticket validated everytime you want to leave otherwise you pay for your parking
Review 124:Great location for those who want to go to Harry Potter world, only 10minutes drive from there and pretty close to Heathrow airport
Review 125:The room was lovely and quiet and clean. Also the breakfast was very good so much choice. Staff were extremely polite and friendly nothing was too much trouble.
Review 126:No aircon! Rooms are too hot to sleep in... This took over the wholeexperience, and made our stay miserable. They know about the problem butdon't tell you in advance. They provide you with fans instead thatjust blow around hot hair. Neither is or our children slept, and we leftafter 2 nights exhausted. Avoid until they have aircon! Check directwith hotel first!!
Review 127:Breakfast, location, cost
Review 128:No mention of a refurbishment happening when booked on the Booking.com website. No air conditioning as a result. Also, we were given a disabled access room and a resulting standard and not king size bed. Too small.
Review 129:The staff here go out of their way to make sure your stay is a good one. They had supplied 2 fans to help with the lack of air conditioning and were willing to honour the 'good night sleep' guarantee for the small bed
Review 130:Great staff, even offered to help carry my bags to the car on leaving, in the rain. Would recommend to all looking at this hotel. Fab location to the Harry potter studio.
Review 131:Room too warm even with fan and open window. Air con not working.Breakfast took 1 hour to be served on 1st day. Not enough cups and towels each day. Too keen to clean and paint room on day of checkout.
Review 132:Staff friendly and helpful. Food good. Generally clean all over.
Review 133:being on the 5th floor as i can't stand lifts due to bad claustrophobia, so would obviously prefer a lower floor
Review 134:staff friendly & consistently efficient, the location is very good as I meet a client in the evening in the town centre, so it's a perfect position to be in
Review 135:no a/c in room. very uncomfortable for four people on a night. for a so call family room it was a bit tight.
Review 136:the staff, the bar area, the breakfast and the cheap parking. Apart from the a/c in our room every thing was very good.
Review 137:Poor quality bed, air condition was broken, dinner service was slow and mixed up and low quality. Parking was not easily to find.
Review 138:Near enough for Harry potter studios plenty of shops beside hotel
Review 139:No aircon... I understand this is being sorted . Also whilst having our evening meal there was still food, bits of toast and empty suger sachets from breakfast still on the floor under the table :/ I didn't like the fact that you weren't informed of parking areas before arrival then after a strsssf time trying to find parking and someone to advise us, we had to pay... I understand it's another company's Carpark but at least advise guests before arrival of this arrangement.
Review 140:The staff are extremely helpful, breakfast and meals were fantastic, facilities are superb, very comfortable... Overall excellent service thank you
