Reviews for Langham Hotel Eastbourne

Review 1:Unable to rest in the afternoon after a long walk because the hotel was doing refurbishment to some rooms and there was a lot of noise from banging and drilling. I was also bitten on my arm by some sort of bug in the early hours of the morning which caused me a lot of pain and discomfort.

Review 2:A lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. great location

Review 3:Attractively furnished room with a modern shower room and a very comfortable super-king bed. Great view of the seafront & pier. Very good full English breakfast.

Review 4:Not so much a dislike just an observation. After showering I went to put on the robe left in the bathroom to find it very small and I would suggest for a fairly petite lady. The quality was lovely and I think a check to see who was using the room might have meant a suitable sized robe for a man.

Review 5:Some friends and I used the hotel to meet up and stay whilst attending a friends birthday party in the area. It proved to be a comfortable and relaxing stay, which enabled us to catch up after many years apart. Also my Salmon and scrambled egg were superb.

Review 6:Amazing and unique stay, the Honeymoon Suite was perfection and we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay by the sea. Will definitely be coming back!

Review 7:Drinks rather expensive 10 minute walk into town centre. Bus service rather unreliable

Review 8:Good breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable room. Lovely bathroom. Good Indian restaurant almost next door.

Review 9:Was over charged on checking out. Although this was put right when I returned and brought it to attention I thought it demonstrated a lack of attention to detail.

Review 10:The room was a good size well furnished and provided a good sea view.

Review 11:The shower in our room was disappointing. Beautifully fitted bathroom but very little water pressure in the shower.

Review 12:The hotel was warm, well decorated and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and knowledgable.

Review 13:Staff friendly and helpful. Couldn't better the sea views from our window and views whilst having breakfast downstairs. Managed to get parking outside of the hotel every night.

Review 14:The beds could be firmer and they are on wheels so it rolled around a bit.

Review 15:Staff very helpful and friendly.room spacious and lively view of the sea. Breakfast and dinner superb. Very generous portions of smoked salmon with scrambled egg. Good quality jams. I advise hop on hop off bus to beachy head and seven sisters but pick a sunny day to enjoy the amazing views and scenery.

Review 16:Mattress too soft. Continental breakfast not to same standard as last time- no toast & cheap jam! Noisy in morning.

Review 17:The view & location is perfect. Restaurant food good, staff very friendly.

Review 18:The bed was wonky, the food was below par. Especially a room service I sent back down. Breakfast was ok, I have had better.

Review 19:The staff and the views were brilliant.

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:Reception and waitress staff were superb. It was my wife's birthday and between them they realised and arranged to bring out a small cake with a candle unprompted. Wonderful sea views. Breakfast served until 10.

Review 22:Staff are warm, approachable and helpful. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the sea view was a real bonus. Hotel maybe a little tired lookin however it is an old building and in terms of value for money can't really complain. Wow definitely stay here again

Review 23:The twin room was very warm and difficult to cool down. The food was good overall but a bit disappointing in a couple of instances.

Review 24:Lovely location and comfortable. Friendly knowledgeable staff.

Review 25:We stayed in the honeymoon suite , the bed was very uncomfortable . Thought it odd to have port or sherry in room , very old fashioned , better to have a choice of drink , as we don't !,,,

Review 26:The view was fantastic , breakfast was great .

Review 27:Fantastic and helpful staff throughout, with no ask being too much hassle or bother. Comfy and refurbished room and delicious breakfast with a great view. Fantastic location right on the seafront.

Review 28:Hotel is convenient for shops & sea. Staff were very welcoming. Our too brief one night stay was made perfect by our very fresh breakfast choice served charmingly to our table on really hot plates.

Review 29:We did not eat here. On arrival we went to the bar for a drink and were assailed by an awful smell of fish. Fresh fish should never smell - we ate elsewhere. Bar prices were too high - over £8 for a very average glass of white wine.

Review 30:Huge bathroom but the shower was really not up to standard. Temperature had to be adjusted via mixer taps on the bath and kept changing with the water pressure. Mentioned it to the desk who made a note.

Review 31:Friendly staff, Good location on the seafront and near the pier. Our room was small but comfortable at the back of the hotel

Review 32:Breakfast was so so. We could only make our shower give out luke warm water. View was of the car park. Bed was two singles pushed together.

Review 33:Good location opposite the sea front. Staff were friendly. Accommodation was clean.

Review 34:We booked a parking space - only a few in total. Parking is behind the hotel in reserved bays or on the street if not reserved. It was very busy all round that area so that could be a problem if you hadn't reserved a space. It was about £7 a day.

Review 35:Great location right on the promenade. Good breakfast. Clean room.

Review 36:My single room seemed to be assigned to the most unappealing aspect of the hotel. View of scaffolding throughout stay and noise of workmen banging from about 8.45am. Old-fashioned sheets and blankets rather than a duvet.

Review 37:The sun-filled breakfast room with its sea-view. Politeness of all the staff.

Review 38:Room dated especially bathroom Shower small and leaking tap.. Could do with small fridge in room..

Review 39:The location was perfect .. The room view was very good.. Staff were friendly and helpful..

Review 40:Parking is a bit expensive unless you can find a spot in a side street.

Review 41:The breakfast was better than some other hotels we have stayed in. Dinner was a very reasonable price. All round enjoyable stay.

Review 42:We would prefer a buffet breakfast. No choice of bread, except white or brown toast. No croissants. Waiter not sure whether the kipper on the menu would be fresh (cream in colour) or highly processed (orange). We opted for smoked salmon and scrambled eggs - very insipid pale and watery scoop of scrambled egg.

Review 43:Room 207 seemed newly refurbished, absolutely lovely with a fantastic view. Grand cream tea a real treat, just as in the picture! Dinner: watercress soup and sirloin steak with stilton sauce highly recommended.

Review 44:The WiFi didn't work for us but that was probably my own fault and I didn't report it as it wasn't important for this trip. I can live for a day without emails!

Review 45:Brilliant staff, extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our evening meal in the conservatory with a view of a choppy English Channel. We shared a 3 course meal on account of waning appetites and were given plates each for every course. Breakfast was equally delightful with well prepared dishes served by excellent waitresses. Lovely bath in our room in a quiet location on the top floor. On check-out we were even offered water for our journey home and the cleaning staff courteously held the door open with smiles on their faces as we took our luggage outside. Congratulations to the manager and ALL the staff for the way you run your hotel.

Review 46:Only one of the side windows could be opened and the staff told me they could not be repaired until after our visit. As Friday and Saturday were very warm, it was difficult to cool the room and led to a poor nights sleep.

Review 47:location

Review 48:parking (£7 for the day) is away from the premises other hotels give you more choices & quantity for breakfast water for shower can be hotter (but it's ok for summer)

Review 49:can see sunset in my room there is a foot stool next to tea-making facilities that we can sit down to make tea & also useful when you need to sit down to put your shoes on

Review 50:The bedding was clean but the pillows had an awful stale smell. We had room service that took forever and we had not utensils to eat with no tray or condiments. When we left the room they were still cleaning the passages. We asked the cleaner where we could put the dirty plates and she advised we could take them 2 floors down....I don't think so!! The room was clean but small. If this was a Superior Room I would hate to see the others. The breakfast was edible but everything had been pre cooked so the poached eggs were hard. We did have dinner at the hotel. We ordered their steaks. We were informed the the charcoal grill was broken. The steaks should have been served on a board but came on a plate...quite disappointing.

Review 51:The view was very good.

Review 52:Booked as a treat for my daughters birthday, booked online gave card details etc. Then trip was spoilt by my daughter being asked to pay outstanding balance before leaving. My card details were already on file and also now my daughter knows how much her surprise cost. I was most upset.

Review 53:On arrival we were given a very small room on the 3 rd floor my wife mentioned that she was a little disappointed. A short time later we were offered a very nice room on the first floor but we were NOT informed that it was another £150 supplement which I consider a little underhanded.

Review 54:The staff were excellent in every way

Review 55:The restaurant was very poor they could do with employing a chef not a school Cook who just warms things upand the restaurant staff are extremely lax

Review 56:The room was a good size with a good view

Review 57:Too much like Butlins . A bit tacky in downstairs public rooms for a 4* Hotel Bathroom could have been more tastily decorated in room Location too far at wrong end of esplanade

Review 58:Good staff attention

Review 59:The rooms were very tired looking when I first got there the outlook was just roof tops , drab curtains and very poor bathroom , it really needs updating I do feel that we had been given the worst rooms. Sorry.

Review 60:Did like the freedom in the bar etc the staff were very good I would stay there again despite my average scores.

Review 61:Nothing i didnt like, i just would like more bacon with the breakfast haha :)

Review 62:beds were lovely, room was beautiful and affordable, with very polite staff! Night porter was incredibly polite when he let me and my other half in as we had been on a night out and asked if we had had a lovely evening. Would definitely come back, cant fault!

Review 63:Room was rather small but it was the last available for the Airbourne event so understandable. I would imagine that the sea view rooms would be fine.

Review 64:Excellent position on sea front.

Review 65:Room very, very tiny and hot. Bathroom tatty for this star hotel. Shower trickled out and hot water hit and miss Evening meal OK but certainly nothing special.

Review 66:Location

Review 67:my partner did not like the pillows (I did!). Did have to repeat to a couple of staff at dinner about ketchup for instance but the second time it came up. This also happened at breakfast but these are just minor points and to be fair they were youngsters. Overall they were very courteous and friendly though. It was just a shame it took so long to get the ketchup as by the time it came we'd nearly finished.

Review 68:mostly everything

Review 69:A bit of a trog to park the car without paying a fortune on parking.

Review 70:Fantastic sea views and good food at the restaurant. Pleasant staff. Good value for money.

Review 71:Room was too small for a couple, there wasn't any comfortable chair and it was noisy in the evening, directly over the bar. Parking a problem - limited on-site; we did not realize it needed to be booked in advance..

Review 72:Location was good, staff were excellent and breakfast was well done.

Review 73:The room was very warm and at top of a stairwell so it was noisy.Had to purchase a fan to keep cool because we couldn't sleep.

Review 74:Staff were pleasant and the breakfast was nice.

Review 75:Used bOoking.com for the first time, got a decent rate in a good hotel. Was put in the worst room there, nothing like the pictures. Absolutely deceiving and disappointed. Don't stay in room 243.

Review 76:Breakfast and location were great.

Review 77:Superior Room had been refurbished to an excellent standard. The breakfast choice and food were excellent and was served by helpful cheery staff. The reception staff were also helpful and prompt when asking for an iron and ironing board.

Review 78:Hotel a long way from shops & pier (and Princes Park). Room was cramped, food up and down. #5 surcharge for cod and chips was bewildering

Review 79:Local restaurant: Exquis

Review 80:Room lacked air conditioning was really hot. I specifically asked about car parking and reserving a space when I booked through Booking.com but no one from the hotel came back about my request. When we were checking in we were told that the probable reason no one came back to me was because the 3 spaces had been taken. No alternatives were offered so I had to wait for a space to appear on the road next to the hotel. Not impressed with that after travelling for 2 hours. We also paid £170 for the 4 poster bed but I think it was overpriced for what it was.

Review 81:View from the room. Dining in the conservatory was a nice touch. Overall location isn't bad as it was a nice stroll into the city centre.

Review 82:Our second stay, and not disappointed at all. Very comfortable, friendly hotel and we shall be reurning. We stayed in a superior double with a sea view. May contemplate the four poster room next time. Maybe only one slight criticsm would be the full English breakfast, not even heat ie beans v hot and the rest lukewarm, bacon a bit on the poor side, but that's the only fault I can think of.

Review 83:It would have been helpful to have had help with our bags

Review 84:The quiet efficiency of the dining room staff - almost noiseless in their movement, no banging of dishes or doors. Courteous and smiling.

Review 85:The helpfulness and professionalism of the staff. Being served at table for breakfast was a really pleasurable change from the usual buffet battle that has become the norm in many hotels.

Review 86:Cramped bedroom, the bathroom was unbelievably and unacceptably small. purchased as a superior double room. No airconditioning in room - 4* property!

Review 87:Location on seafront

Review 88:no fridge, no safe, outdated furniture, 1st floor smells of cooking from the restaurant and its noisy with internal doors banging closed and if you have neighbours.

Review 89:Very nice staff, good bar and seafront outlook, extra secure car parking for a reasonable price.

Review 90:had room 101 top of stairs room supposed to be upgraded but very dated!! noisy could hear reception staff chatting and noise from other guests up and down stairs and entering after midnight and early morning.

Review 91:staff friendly. nice bar area.

Review 92:Hotel overall is a bit run down, needs updating. When the cleaner was vacuuming it interfered with the TV in the room (luckily it didn't last very long).

Review 93:Staff and cleanliness. Overnight parking only cost £7.

Review 94:Never checked beforehand, but there Was,nt any tea bags for drink in our room, prior to breakfast.

Review 95:Staff were very pleasant. Delicious breakfast, freshly cooked. Snacks etc were very nice.

Review 96:The food was reasonable although the English breakfast was poor. The supplements were an added unnecessary expense and the advertised a la carte menu when requested was unavaiable.

Review 97:The dining room staff were very helpful especially the female 'manager'.

Review 98:Must book parking place £7 night

Review 99:All the Staff friendly, polite and efficient. A credit. Food was a high standard, we ate there six nights and had no complaints, all excellent. You are offered home baked flapjacks or shortbread whenever you order coffee or tea, a lovely touch

Review 100:Our room must have been the noisest in the hotel, bins emptied at 5.30then more bind at 7.30 then the bottle banks , ,so no nice long lie in for us, we did find the reception staff we came into contact with were only there do there job and not because they wanted to be, no smiles, no small talk with guests etc

Review 101:The breakfast was lovely as were most of the staff in there

Review 102:No bad experience but would mention that the shower head was fixed so I could not pull forward to use on my mother. So we did sit down wash.

Review 103:The staff rang me to advise they had booked 2 rooms together near the lift as my mother is wheel chair bound. When we down for breakfast the staff were quick to help us to the allocated table with plenty of space for the wheel chair. Enjoyed using the bar area after a lovely evening at the band stand.

Review 104:Lovely location for us, not too close to the pier and busy bits. 'Superior with sea view' room on top floor wasn't cheap but was really nice. Staff were excellent, and the one dinner we had was very good.

Review 105:Only thing I can fault is the room we were in it could do with updating the bathroom definitely needing replacing

Review 106:Staff were fantastic great service Breakfast was excellent Only had dinner once. It was very good value

Review 107:Room slightly tired and bed a bit well used. We understand the hotel is partly through a refurb and I guess our room (102) was one of the last to get updated.

Review 108:Great location, excellent staff, very enjoyable breakfast for our one night.

Review 109:I didn't like the fact that you booked me a superior room which I did not think it was. I telephoned the hotel to make sure there was a lift and asked if there were any stairs. The gentleman said that the room we have been designated did not have steps but we in fact had to go down eight steps to the bedroom. Also the ensuite door was almost touching the bath when it was opened and we had to close it to get to the toilet. Poor lookout too - overlooking the car park. Not my idea of a holiday accommodation you want to see the sea.

Review 110:The food was good and service good. Reception staff very helpful

Review 111:The whole experience...the hotel is wonderful & the staff are very polite friendly & helpful .... The comfort of my room & the sea view Was perfect

Review 112:Breakfast was fine. Portion sizes were really small and if if wasnt included in the room rate would if had to pay £10pp, if that was the case i would have complained. slow to bring food out. Was waiting 40mins for the breakfast and was even served after 10 min after another couple who came in 30 mina after. Staff wete friendly but speed of servixe was poor and potion size let it down. Couldnt connect to wifi wasnt sure why but didnt ask.

Review 113:location was great. Staff were freindly room looked good and clean.

Review 114:We cannot fault any part of our stay. As for the negative comments on the food esp breakfast. Our experience was excellent in every way. food was hot fresh and plentiful. Would recommend to anyone.

Review 115:we booked a superior double on upper floors, we got an ordinary room on first floor directly above the bar

Review 116:The conservatory breakfast room had great views

Review 117:Our whole stay was a wonderful experience. The staff were more friendly and helpful than any other hotel that we have been to. The whole ambience of the hotel was of a very high standard. Many interesting events were organised for all tastes

Review 118:WIFI iffy at times. Double bed on small size. Very limited on-site parking although parking on sea front was not a problem and no time constrictions.

Review 119:Friendly staff. Location with sea view

Review 120:Single room somewhat dated and not4 star standard.close proximity ofbed to bathroom door and tight space around washbasin so when cleaning teeth, elbows had to be clenched in!

Review 121:Location and good quality evening meal

Review 122:They made a mistake by overcharging me for the hotel- basically charged me double and had to contact bank and hotel to rectify the situation. However they was very apologetic about situation and refunded me within a day.

Review 123:Well located hotel, with easy access to main parade and restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful at all times. Was the fastest check in I have ever experienced. Beautiful view of the sea.

Review 124:We had serious problems with out shower it was far too hot and controls did not allow us to turn it down. The basin did not have cold water just hot the problem was reported early in our visit but resolved.

Review 125:Comfortable room excellent view Food good but not great would stay again if the price was right

Review 126:We had a tiny room, with an awful drain smell if window open. Tiny shower room, no bath. Sheets and blankets no duvets. Never experienced scrambled egg such as had for breakfast, it was granular, ? powered egg?

Review 127:The staff were polite and it was generally clean.

Review 128:Wonderful reception from the staff . I would definitely come back. The room is spacious and lovely sea room. Comfortable beds and lovely walk in shower.

Review 129:The room was a bit on the small side and could do with some refurbishment, so next time I shall choose a larger room. However the room was spotless.

Review 130:The staff and an excellent dinner.

Review 131:Food portions could be more generous perhaps.

Review 132:Courteous professional staff. Thoughtful touches with decor & interesting old photographs lining the walls.

Review 133:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 134:Very friendly staff and lovely food. Price of drinks reasonable for a hotel. Eating in the conservatory with a view of the sea was a treat. Parking easy.
