Reviews for Grange Guest House
Review 1:Check in at 16h is a bit late
Review 2:Peter and Paulette are just awesome, they make you feel like home, the breakfast super tasty and the top room bathroom ensuite is by far what you need ;)
Review 3:Nothing!
Review 4:The rooms were beautifully decorated in a shabby chic style and it was very cosy. The staff were very friendly and chatty and it was a lovely atmosphere. The breakfast was delicious too!!
Review 5:Hosts were friendly and very helpful. Good value for money. Location is close to main road routes and airport. Overall a very pleasant and comfortable stay.
Review 6:Close to Stansted airport, clean and walking distance from train station and many good placed to eat. Even a multi screen cinema, I picked up a movie I wanted to see.
Review 7:Slightly cramped room at top of house. Wifi down at the time of my visit. No eating in the bedroom - but dining room was made available downstairs.
Review 8:Traditional B&B character in a family house. Friendly and very helpful (but assertive!) proprietor.
Review 9:I asked in advance if it was possible to get a packed breakfast as I was leaving early the following morning. When I arrived back at 11:30 pm, I was told I was too late checking in and that I wouldn't be getting anything. Fair enough, I was late arriving/checking in, but I had phoned hours earlier to say I'd be late, and perhaps the woman could have told me this. It's not a big deal but I could have been told when I rang. How hard is it to make a sandwich! A 2 minute job!
Review 10:Location was fine, just a train stop from the airport which is why I booked it. It's good if you need to get an early flight out of Stansted the next day, but just make sure you check in on time, or you won't get your packed breakfast! ;)
Review 11:The mattress wasn't the best but for a night it is OK.
Review 12:The host were very nice and warm. I had to leave very early in the morning and they prepared a breakfast and left it in the fridge to take it away next morning. The room and the bed was old but clean and decent.Wifi works well.Short walking distance from the train station and the bus to the airport. I stayed overnight to catch a flight the next morning and definitely stay again.
Review 13:I think it was like return to the 60-decay, like our own old home somehow. Different than most we´v visited. Nice to have breakfest and chat to other people who aint affaird to open up themselves a bit;) Old but clean, safe, quiet, peacefull, very close to railwaystation. Lots of restaurants in the city, close. Nice staff, regards from Finland.
Review 14:The warm welcome at the door was really nice after travelling. So convenient to or from Stansted. Hosts were really accommodating to our family of 2adults and 3kids. Fantastically unique style of decor makes it a little treat to stay here. Lyons, Ireland.
Review 15:We where running late from a job, absolutely exhausted, it was like the end of the world for them to wait an extra 10 minutes after the latest check in. The woman is nice, the man is not very welcoming.
Review 16:Takeaway breakfast for two was really just a small snack for one. It did detract from the overall good impressions.
Review 17:Location, small friendly guesthouse, homely atmosphere.
Review 18:Quite close to the station and the main area with restaurants and shops. Staff was very nice and helpful!! I had to leave early in the morning so they left a take away breakfast for me
Review 19:The time for breakfast is very early, but if you stay only some days you can handle it.
Review 20:Closed to the airport and easy to go with train to London and Cambridge. Paulette and Peter are very kindly. The breakfast is very good and always fresh, because you can choose what you prefer when you come to breakfast.
Review 21:Only drawback was the shared bathroom down the hall, but it is an old house.
Review 22:Victorian house in a quiet street near the train station. Cosy bedroom with pictures on the wall and lots of books (English and French). Friendly and helpful hosts.
Review 24:I was welcomed by Paulette, who was very friendly and helpful. The house is charming with many period features. The same was true of my room, with wood floor, small fireplace, comfortable places to sit. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom modern and in excellent condition. The location in a residential street close to the railway station was very convenient for getting to the airport early in the morning.
Review 25:Early morning packed lunch was not appealing, could have been better since it replaced the complimentary breakfast that we missed out on because of an early flight.
Review 26:Nice and clean. Bathroom great.
Review 27:The Grange was a great place to stay and I would definitely stay there again. It was clean, quiet, friendly and I felt very relaxed and slept like a log before waking up to an excellent cooked breakfast. It is only a few minutes walk to the railway station and the perfect place to overnight before flying from Stansted.
Review 28:The breakfast sack wasn't necessarily good, but it was more than I expected when leaving before breakfast "hours."
Review 29:I was greeted by Paulette at the door upon my arrival. She showed me to my room, provided all necessary information regarding my stay, and offered the best option to reach my early morning flight at Stansted. I was able to pay immediately, and venture out into town for a dinner at the Star Pub, which was Peter's suggestion and fantastic. They even provided me with a sandwich and fruit for my 6.00 exit, though they were not yet awake. The guest house is perfectly located near the train station, as well as a short 10-15 minute walk into the town center. This is the ideal place if you are flying into or from Stansted.
Review 30:Can not think of anything-
Review 31:Friendly hosts and had delicious jpt tea and copkies in our room which was just right for the evening. The bed was so comfy and slept great!
Review 32:When looking for a hotel close to Stansted we struggled to find anywhere that wouldn't require a car/taxi – apart from Grange Guest House. Less than 5 minutes to the station, close to the restaurants of the town for an evening meal – plus lovely, quirky rooms and a great bathroom. This B&B was perfect for us and we will definitely return if we fly from Stansted early again!
Review 33:Nothing bad at all.
Review 34:Hostess welcoming and friendly, house colourful and quirky, facilities comfortable, bathroom good size with lovely walk in shower and nice bath, plenty of free street parking outside, easy walk to food and drink in the evening.
Review 35:Had such a lovely stay here! The house has so much character, and we felt instantly at home. Paulette is a great host and we felt like we were old friends!
Review 36:the bed might need a new mattress, the bathroom was a little chilly
Review 37:a typical little B&B close to Stansted Airport with lots of charme and character, excellent alternative to impersonal airport hotels, very good breakfast, nice host, good service good value for the money
Review 38:Convenient location. 10 minute walk from the train station. The family is wonderful, very warm and welcoming. It feels like going to another home and the breakfast is excellent and served with lots of love and attention.
Review 39:Wifi signal is weak. Breakfast portions are not very generous. Host is rather unfriendly.
Review 40:Room and bathroom are clean. There is plenty of street parking. Generous check out time. Toilet and shower are in separate rooms. Quiet street.
Review 41:Typical questions of the small B&B in the UK - ,,what time do you want your breakfast since we start serving at 8.30?,, Don't you think that for the working people who stay at your hotel for business normally the 8.30 or 8.00 is by far too late? The breakfast is served in a very small room with one small table in the centre and wheter you like it or not your are sitting there with other poeple whom you meet first time. It is nice because you meet the new people but not good for the poeple who are looking for privacy.
Review 42:Clean, friendly, Wify - very fast
Review 43:It would have been a good idea if drinking water had been provided with the kettle in a room that is not en suite.
Review 44:I was made very welcome and the breakfast was excellent. The house is close to the town centre but is in a quiet road and has a very rural, homely feel to it.
Review 45:Very creaky floorboards, though fortunately not disturbed by other guests. Otherwise no complaints.
Review 46:Comfortable room within easy walking distance of station, just a few minutes ride from Stansted airport. Had an early flight, but owners provided a take-away bag for breakfast. Owner is French, and my room had an extraordinary collection of French literature - pity I had no time for reading.
Review 47:I thought the owners were quite rude and were not interested in talking to you. There were petty rules and regulations and I also thought, it was quite expensive (£50) for what I got.
Review 48:The rooms were comfortable with good Wi-Fi and the breakfast was plentiful. The location is excellent for the town, trains and airport.
Review 49:Pillows not soft enough on bed
Review 50:The quirky decor, good books to browse, homely appearance, light sensors in bathroom, able to borrow a charger for mobile, take away breakfast, good email contact
Review 51:Only thing was the shower water supply in my (otherwise lovely) attic room. It was rather precarious in the morning, sometimes stopping altogether for a few minutes.
Review 52:Very quiet. Heard aircraft faintly only until 10-11 pm, despite having windows open, then slept like a log. Location very convenient - 4 mins walk to Bishops Stortford station, which is 9 mins from Stansted, and 30 mins from Liverpool St, making this a good option for people who don't like London noise or prices. Breakfast starts at 0730 on weekdays, but Paulette will make up a takeaway breakfast if you are leaving early. If having the cooked option, note that it will take a good 35 mins as cooked from fresh.
Review 53:Parking restrictions outside are very restrictive
Review 54:Packed lunch in the morning Quirky decoration of the room (including glow in the dark stars on the ceiling!)
Review 55:I suffer from pet allergy and had a hard time in the house, especially the breakfast room. I did not see any animals, but they are there i am sure.
Review 56:Quiet location, close by the airport, friendly lady
Review 57:Helpful and welcoming owners. Quiet, safe location, but very convenient for the station also. Comfortable bed, fabulous shower. Birdsong in the morning, stars at night. I would stay here again.
Review 58:It is a tiny bit hard to find. It is that I had the number, else I would have missed it :)
Review 59:It is the "classic" B&B. Beds, Breakfast, good facilities. Family Home.
Review 60:The houseis really nice and there is lovely decoration all over the place. The landlady is really nice and interested in her guests. I was a bit skeptic because I am allergic to cats and there are cats around the house but I had no problems.
Review 61:Shared bathroom is always something to be a little feared when on a tight schedule but that has more to do with other people who take absolutely lifetimes in the bathroom, not the fault of the guest house.
Review 62:Good connection to London and Cambridge. Breakfast to go if early in form of a packed lunch which is very good.
Review 63:Less than 10 min walk from station, which was what we wanted as we were flying out of stansted the following morning. Close to town with assortment of food outlets, pubs Breakfast OK.
Review 64:The host were very friendly and helpful. The B&B was close to the railway station. There is a supermarket nearby that is very helpful. If you are visiting London then buying the day travel pass makes it worthwhile to stay here.
Review 65:N/A All good
Review 66:The location was great, I stayed one night prior to going into London, nice little town, Guest house is really handy to train station, either into London, or out to Stansted Airport. Would definitely stay again, also recommend . Brian Lindsay
Review 67:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 68:The room was very nice with a lovely bathroom. The whole house is nicely decorated. The owners were very accommodating. It was good that you don't have to leave the room until 12.
Review 69:Nothing
Review 70:Very casual home away from home. Clean and tidy place to stay. Nothing seemed to be a problem:,we asked for an extra bed in one of the rooms, taxis to be booked, checking in late, come back in late from party and have a variety of breakfast times,
Review 71:Stayed just the one night as had a long drive ahead the next morn , arrived a little later than planned, owner was very understanding and helpful, room size was big enough and comfortable, Breakfast was better than expected for the price I paid, Even warned me about 9am parking in the street that I had forgotten about Many thanks for being so helpfull, Arrived shattered Left refreshed
