Reviews for Halfway Bridge

Review 1:Its hard to get a taxi in this area but staff were really helpful. Best to plan ahead as they had to try 13 cab firms!

Review 2:We originally planned to stay as a couple to attend a wedding but unexpected circumstances meant my husband had to go alone. The management team were fabulous and very flexible in supporting us and my husband had a great stay. The room was beautiful, bed very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast delicious.

Review 3:The rooms are across the road and down a path which is quite dark. Rate included breakfast but I missed out as I needed to be on the road at half seven and breakfast didn't start til 8am. I wasn't offered a take away breakfast or even just some fruit to take with me.

Review 4:I was able to get a discounted price for single occupancy of a double room. The room was lovely with a massive bed but still plenty of space. Evening meal was delicious although menu not extensive.

Review 5:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 6:The staff were friendly. Meal was excellent. Room was clean, cosy and had every appliance you could need. We are already planning to revisit.

Review 7:perhaps could do with a little more lights running up the footpath to the rooms.

Review 8:A very warm welcome on arrival, easy check in process and then walked over to the rooms which were quaint and well furnished. The bed was perhaps one of the comfiest beds i've ever slept on and the touch of real milk in the fridge to make a brew with was lovely.

Review 9:No option of room service in the room and staff wasn't very knowledgeable about its offer at the pub. We wanted to stay one more night but staff insisted on a further 2 night stay on Sat Ana Sun despite we stayed Fri and they had plenty of vacancy

Review 10:The room was cute and environment was nice

Review 11:The bed was too short - I could not stretch out in it. (although it was very comfortable)

Review 12:The ambience, the helpful staff, the nice rooms, the food was good, and the location excellent for our cycle-trips.

Review 13:Room was really lovely and quite nice to be slightly apart from main building. Quiet and Peaceful. Food very tasty and served in very pleasant surroundings. Didn't feel uncomfortable being lone female. Would definitely come back with Partner.

Review 14:Requires more ventilation in the bedroom, although fan helped.

Review 15:Very comfortable, well equipped rooms. Staff attentive & friendly Excellent dinner & breakfast in pleasant surroundings

Review 16:Breakfast item from menu was not available and alternative very poor Was not asked about breakfast quality until we asked for bill. Too late to rectify by then!

Review 17:Peace and quiet of room. Loads of hot water.

Review 18:Loved this place! Found it quite by chance for a last minute trip and would definitely go back! Everything was lovely, especially the staff, the amazing food and the cosy, well-appointed, quality room!

Review 19:Omg this place was a little gem. Absolutely amazing. Can't fault a single thing. Would definitely come back. So quiet and peaceful yet the ambience and the atmosphere were perfectly balanced.

Review 20:Nice quiet location, good food with friendly staff, room very nice with fresh coffee and a choice of tea. As well as tv in room there was also a CD player.

Review 21:Bed a bit small and creaky, a little disappointed in the dinner. Potatoes black bits left in and Yorkshire pudding was rock hard (but beef and vegetables where excellent)

Review 22:Breakfast excellent

Review 23:- Food at dinner was decent, but was in our opinion a bit overpriced.

Review 24:- Manager saw I was tall and on his own initiative offered a room with a larger bed, great service! - Rooms are in a nicely converted old barn, away from the pub and road and have a large garden area in front, very peaceful - Room was clean, nicely decorated, spacious and had a decent shower (in bath) - Good overall atmosphere in pub/restaurant

Review 25:At welcome we felt like an inconvenience! Too much furniture made the room feel small. Not enough space around the bed. Fridge in wardrobe space?! No restaurant menu in room. No books or dvd's provided in room for rainy days.

Review 26:proper coffee! but would have liked instant provided also. Lovely welcome at breakfast, and quick checkout.

Review 27:Wifi was a bit slow.

Review 28:Very quiet room, very comfortable and spacious. The food was great as was the service. When we arrived, I mentioned that my wife and I had left the children with my parents for a night away. Five minutes later, without any prompting, the manager upgraded us to a room that was even quieter - so thoughtful. Both the supper and breakfast were wonderful. All in all, this was a perfect one night away.

Review 29:Room could have been cleaner. Cobwebs behind loo and hand basin. TV did not work very well and there was no available wifi! On trying to fix TV aerial dead flys etc found furniture. We sent one meal back as they could not cook 3 sausages properly. Although the replacement meal was ok it arrived after my wife had finished her food. No financial adjustment was offered. A very poor experience.

Review 30:Pleasant staff good location spacious room

Review 31:There is nothing to dislike,as from the cleaning staff to the management all engage and are proud of the halfway bridge

Review 32:Having stayed a number of times on business I decided to take my wife with me, well she loved everything about it and wants to return either on business or not.

Review 33:The only negative I can think of and I'm being hyper crytical here, the socket for the hairdryer was in an akward position making it difficult to see in the mirror.

Review 34:I loved the decor of my room, the toiletries were a lovely touch and not the usual mass produced freebies that you usually find in a hotel bathroom. The breakfast was truly superb and I am not easily pleased, but this was seriously good quality.I would definately return.

Review 35:Having to leave :( one night wasn't enough!

Review 36:Excellent staff welcomed us to the stunning converted stable rooms. We had the delux room 6 which was gorgeous in duck egg blue. The food was delicious and it was a great place to explore the nearby Midhurst and Petworth House.

Review 37:Deluxe room was very spacious and nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and efficient and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 38:Our first night was spoilt by the person in the adjoining room who kept going outside for a smoke and kept banging the doors through the night.Needs to have soft close on the doors to stop banging.

Review 39:Accomodation was lovely, I think just needs a coffee table in the room to put drinks on by the settee.

Review 40:The rooms were great, very clean and comfortable with nice touches of fresh milk for tea & coffee, local bottled, filtered water and in seperate, quiet location away from resturant. The pub/resturant food was of a very high standard, and the overall service could not be faulted. They do here, what so many places fail to offer!

Review 41:Brilliant from the start. Let me explain ... are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin ... Call me sad (!) but my personal assessment of any hostelry is how they serve butter ... small foil wrapped packets? Absolute no-no ... but butter served in a small dish with no concern about trying to save money by serving pre-packed? To me, that's a winner, a 10 out of 10 every time ... Bread and olives served with a personal dish of butter (all free gratis I hasten to add) before ordering.. a good start. Attentive, smiling service from all staff. My main course (belly pork, bubble 'n squeak with seasonal veg) couldn't be faulted. I finished with an inspirational cheese board. Four cheeses with not a generic cheddar, brie or stilton in site! All local, all at the right temperature! All complimented by an excellent wine list. The room was beautifully decorated and clean with free wi-fi. The attention to detail all round at this place was just fantastic. Guys 'n gals if you're ever down this way, stay here!!! I

Review 42:we stayed here for a single night and will be back for a longer stay. The staff are fantastic... Professional, friendly, knowledgable and chatty. Our room was beautiful overlooking some lovely greenery. The standard is high and well finished but there was some damp on the interior of the blinds which could easily be cleaned off. The restaurant offers simple yet well delivered dishes and there is a good selection without being overwhelming. I would gladly recommend this place to anyone.

Review 43:Evening menu fairly limited Morning breakfast only one option of juice at £2.00 per glass additional cost Sound proofing between rooms poor- (could hear conversations innadjacent room)

Review 44:Very nice room, large clean comfortable, light and airy.

Review 45:The pricing of the restaurant meals is about 10-15% above what it should be even allowing for the area.

Review 46:Rooms were quiet and away from the busy road. The room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. Good Wifi which was helpful as mobile coverage is poor in this area. An excellent breakfast

Review 47:Location is not to everyone's liking but for our purposes within hitting distance of where we needed to go - Arundel, Goodwood, etc., absolutely fine. The name Halfway Bridge is quite apt Just need to get one's head around the separate accommodation building from the main reception/pub dining area. But this has benefits.

Review 48:I had a small group of guests visiting the area, including a lifestyle journalist who was rather taken by the ambience. with our working team, we agreed this was a gem of a stay in the midst of beautiful English countryside. So if it passes the test of working journalists who are used to staying in all manner of luxury, it passes out test. The GM, Billy and his team really made a huge effort to make us comfortable, attend to the needs of our guests and their itinerary. Dinner and breakfast were very good. All enjoyed their stay. Wifi, unlike some other properties in the area that we have experienced, is quite adequate. For an even better experience, the larger rooms add a more luxurious feel, but all rooms seem well appointed. Very peaceful and the garden 'courtyard' is a lovely place to sit and chill. A big thank you to the team

Review 49:For us there was nothing to dislike!

Review 50:The comfort and cleanliness of the room - The friendliness and attentitiveness of the staff made our stay a real celebration. We also rated the breakfast and restaurant food for dinner as terrific! Look forward to going back one day!

Review 51:Nothing, it was all lovely

Review 52:A lovely location with really well-equipped rooms set away from the main building for ultimate peace and quiet - and a delicious dinner.

Review 53:Coffee quality could be improved and my eggs were over done. But these can be addressed.

Review 54:We enjoyed our 1 night stay. very peaceful. Lovely spacious superior room. Bathroom very clean and hooks on back of door so often missing in other hotels. Great bathroom shampoos and soaps. Very helpful staff and of course a good breakfast.

Review 55:I can't fault it.

Review 56:This place is a real gem, with sumptuous beds, atmospheric decor and friendly staff who can't do enough to help. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

Review 57:Such a spacious, comfortable and beautifully appointed room. Lovely touches include cafetiere coffee and fresh milk (in the fridge), a proper hair dryer and fantastic toiletries from a local company. I stayed for business but it is definitely a place I would consider coming back to for pleasure. The pub had a lovely cozy feel about it and the staff were so friendly. Can't recommend highly enough!

Review 58:We absolutely loved the halfway Bridge. Will be back! We arrived late and were greeted in a friendly manner and taken to our beautiful rooms . Breakfast was delicious .. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 59:We had a great weekend away that was booked at the last minute on the Friday morning. Our room was luxurious. The rooms are in a fantastic setting & location - about 100m from the main hotel. The food was amazing. The staff were very attentive & catered for all our requirements. We will return later this year.
