Reviews for City Marque Thames View Serviced Apartments
Review 1:Shocking check in, no letter to explain the process that you have to collect a key from a place quite a distance from the actual building, as there is no Concierge, and the Call Centre in the Phillipines cannot help as they don't know what you are saying if you explain where you are standing - 1st part of a disastrous experience. The description of what you are paying for you do not get. It was not serviced, it does not have sweeping views of the Thames, yes you can see the Thames, depending on the building you are in whether you go a bit more of a view than the other. The kitchen is ill equipped with odd plates, knives and forks, and glasses. The toaster had lost its buttons to push the toast down. No basic cooking utensils. One pot and one frying pan. Beds are finished, had to get a mattress topper 72 hours after arrival to try an elviate sleeping on a spring. Linen old, pillows smelly, carpets dirty, curtains dirty and also off the hooks.Even after taking up with a call centre that sits in the Philipines we had to wait for 72 hours to get clean linen, and matresess topper - we are still fighting the fight, three days of our holiday was ruined, spending mornings on the phone to complain about the situation. The kitchen sink did not have a plug - and we were told this is not supplied - so those of you who have booked be aware - you are in for a bumpy ride - it is nothing like the advert, nothing. Management admit to shortage of staff and definitely no quality control.Nowhere were we told that it was not serviced and this would be an extra cost, nor were we told that linen would not be changed after x amount of days which you would have to pay for.Very poorly run operation, with little understanding for the customer - definitely not value for money.
Review 2:The proximity to the tube station.
Review 3:Everything about the booking process was confusing. We'd receive information saying one thing then another piece of information saying something different: 1) When booked, the site said we'd pay on arrival, I then received an email saying half would be taken within the next few weeks and half two weeks before arrival. 2) Received an email which said someone would meet us at the site, then an email saying I had to go to a building and pick up the keys myself, but to leave a time so someone would be there, sent the time over and the documents asked for, I then received an email (saying that my booking still had yet to actually be confirmed... This confirmation never arrived despite money being taken so I just turned up in blind hope it was all sorted) that contained a code to enter the building, when we got there there wasn't a person and I was never sent the second code needed to actually get the keys, so had to phone someone using the phone next to the key box who gave me a new code. 3) I got sent a plan of my 'executive apartment' with two bedrooms containing a queen sized bed each, upon entering the room I had a studio apartment with a pull down double bed. The plan may have been sent to me in error, but once sent, should have been the room I received. I was unfortunately too busy during my stay to chase this up and request being put in the room I was described to have booked. Absolutely none of these would have been an issue if I'd been told the information originally, it would have infact been painless and easy, but constantly being told one thing then either being told or receiving another made this difficult and stressful when it didn't need to be. The wifi was also a bit sketchy, which was difficult as we had work to do in the morning. There were similarly priced decent hotels and I regret not booking one of those. Especially when there were dirty towels in the laundry basket and make-up on the pillow cases.
Review 4:It was really well situated and there was a nice atmosphere walking to the building.
Review 5:Took over 2 hours to gain access into the property as the access code provided was not relevant for the property and one had to physically collect keys. Apartment was not clean - one bed headboard was caked in dust. Kitchen absolutely stank from dirty drains. The one bathroom extractor was pumping what smelt like cigarette smoke into the bathroom - was awful returning after a day out to a stinky apartment. Only double beds yet advertised it was luxurious apartments - bed mattress were substandard with springs poking you. Advertised as serviced apartment but this is an extra charge which is not detailed anywhere in the notes. Kitchen crockery is mismatch. Oven has all features wiped off. No book in the apartment explaining how things worked. Very expensive for what we got!
Review 6:Location was good - right at Vauxhall tube station.
Review 7:Bathroom washbasin was blocked on arrival .First phonecall requesting assistance was not actioned. Repaired on third day.
Review 8:Excellent building complex .River location.
Review 9:I was called the morning of travelling to be advised a £500 security deposit would be taken out of my account, which had never been mentioned before, despite booking 9 weeks in advance. Then arrived in London to have our 'Thames View' apartments changed last minute to other side of city centre due to a gas leak. Although the new apartment was nice inside, rather than a 'Thames view', our balcony overlooked a rubbish skip and the back of other buildings. Wasted our first of only two evenings. No reception or any one to speak to face to face to sort problems which was very frustrating. Would not recommend this company and I will not be booking with them ever again!
Review 10:Ventilation was not so great in one bedroom (notice on door) & blinds looking untidy which do need replacing
Review 11:Location and whole functionality of keys check in & out
Review 12:needs maintenance badly . Blinds broken and missing , lightbulbs need replaced , toilet seat broken , mattress doesn't fit bed , electrics noisy etc
Review 13:location
Review 14:The bed broke on 1st night. I reported it. And it was fixed the next day. Had an uncomfortable and broken sleep on first night. . On looking at bed it has been fixed before. Was in bed 1hr on 2nd night and bed broke again. Had to sleep on floor as I had back pain trying to sleep on a broken bed. Got 2hrs sleep all night so not impressed. Went home early as next day as i was so tired so it ruined my few days away.
Review 15:It was handy place to stay. Near tube station and bus station. Shops nearby too.
Review 16:Hard to find, and no reception that I could find - you must phone them to meet you at a specific time. However once that's sorted then all good, but needs much better joining instructions as its a flat within other residential flats, so nothing like a hotel experience.
Review 17:View of the Thames from my own balcony for less than £200! And massive, well appointed 2 bed flat - loads of room. Also excellent wifi - has own BT Hub. Big TV too, though limited channels. And decent kitchen.
Review 18:Appartment was worn out. Very nice pictures on website, but not in reality. A lot of broken things, in stead of great windows and view on thames (website), only side view and much smaller windows. Strong smell of fish and chips from earlier renter. disappointed due to what is promised.
Review 19:good location, there is a tube station in front of the apartment. size of the apartment.
Review 20:Walking round London with no idea where I was going trying to find a building, to then find a key safe in the building, put another code in to get the key, and finally walk back across London in the cold and rain to get into the apartment
Review 21:No onsite staff mean obtaining the key is confusing and time-consuming and there is no effective service when things don't work. Wifi didn't work No Sky No left luggage facility 11 nights with no servicing
Review 22:Great location
Review 23:Your booking process was awful. I had several emails back and forth trying to sort out a payment. The details had been entered incorrectly your end and even after I contacted you to pay manually I still got calls and emails. Zero communication amongst your office staff. Only bad part of the experience.
Review 24:Getting the keys is very hard. Specially if you dont have access to local phone and after a long flight all you want to do is get into the apartment. If something can be sorted out to provide keys at the location that would make the experience much better.
Review 25:Great Location ! Spacious ! Value for money
Review 26:The couch was dirty, the view of the Thames was not nice, the terrace with view was really small. The TV was not working well, and the window in one of the room was broken, so it was possible to fully close it and the cold was coming in... Very disappointing for the high price of the rent.
Review 27:Only the location was good. The rest was not good enough for the cost of the rent
Review 28:The booking process was an absolute nightmare - I wasnt given the full address of the apartment to start with, and wasnt told that I had to collect keys from another address. I finally got into my room about an hour after arriving, to any future bookers be aware!!!
Review 29:The location was superb, right by the river and directly by Vauxhall station and the rooms were excellent - a full kitchen, nice lounge area and two decent sized bedrooms. Balcony was nice to have as well.
Review 30:Where do I start. The checking in process is a nightmare. The attachment with the instructions would not open so we thought the codes in the body of the email were for the building and apartment. They gave us the wrong address for the apartment. Lost an hour in the cold wind while my husband dodged traffic to go to a "robo office" to pick up the key (only one key). The first two phone numbers given us were not functioning. When he finally spoke to someone and got directions, she was useless. The apartment was spacious but not clean. We bought our own cleaning materials. Furniture was uncomfortable, pillows old and lumpy, double mattress in a queen size frame and missing pictures on walls, missing blinds, no towel rails in bathrooms, no cushions on the awful brown faux leather couches and a not very well equipped kitchen. We bought a serving bowl. Quite a few maintenance issues - almost non functioning drain in shower, missing light bulbs, stinking garbage sink disposal (bought bleach) but we did not bother calling as the instruction booklet said they would respond in 24 - 48 hours! These people are cheaping out big time. I have just gone back through the reviews to earlier last year and there is a constant theme on what is wrong. They pay lip service to customer service but frankly do absolutely nothing to remedy the problems. If it wasnt for the location and the view, this would have been an awful experience. We will not be going back.
Review 31:The locations was superb - close to buses and tube and shops. The view of the river and Vauxhall Bridge lovely, but not what we expected. We had asked for a higher floor to get the promised skyline but were put on the second floor. Tried to change it a couple of days before were told not possible. The staff we spoke/emailed with were helpful and polite but ineffectual.
Review 32:The level of cleaness was terrible. Socks from other people under the bed, used soap and shampoo bottel in the kitchen, cigarettes and other dirty stuf on the terace
Review 33:Location
Review 34:Some of the provisions inside the flat were not properly repaired before check in eg. no light bulb in the lamp, no batteries in rubbish bin, microwave not working. No luggage storage before checking in nor after checking out.
Review 35:Convenient & quiet location. Spacious apartment with fully equipped kitchen.
Review 36:We waited two hours to acess room so lost those hours and also the lackof information on how to access the room which also was not good and thestaff at the site we're rude and not helpful at all and when we didfinally get threw to city marque as it just rang and rang for two hoursthe lady was rude to and didn't seem to care we spent all this moneyand lost loads of time trying to access the place so could be better gofuture customers especially with the prices charged
Review 37:The view
Review 38:We had an absolute nightmare with the booking. A day before we were due to arrive, they finally answered my email to say that they wouldn't send me the entry details because I hadn't paid a security deposit. That information would have been useful before they took the apartment money out of my account a few weeks before we were due to arrive, not the day before. They're a nightmare to get in contact with.
Review 39:The location was fantastic; the facilities within the apartment were excellent; London is a great city with so much to do surrounding the apartments and they're so close to the main attractions in London.
Review 40:No parking if u want to hire a car, extreamly difficult to find parking space. A bit tricky to find apartment at first time but not too bad. Only one set of key provided. No where to store your luggage for early check or late check out. Only can contact staff By phone and email, nonstaff on site. Overall, nothing majar just a bit inconvenience.
Review 41:Very close to tube, train and bus. Apartment got a good wifi, not noisy at night. Everything is in working order. No air condition but got two fans for two bed room. The living room even have a sofa bed just incase you have an extra guest. Overall , very good value for money.
Review 42:Not getting into apartment until 3.45. Should have been 3pm. Made us late for appointment at 4.30 No grill pan and could have done with mats for glass dining table when serving hot food
Review 43:Beautiful apartment loved the view from ghebalcony
Review 44:Access not easy. Getting keys a bit of a nightmare. Address of flat incorrect. It was on a different floor! Access to building not explained.....obviously has been changed but the details have not been altered!
Review 45:Location. Tube just outside.mview of river.
Review 46:The collection of the key was inconvenient and it would have been nice to have two sets of keys. It would be more convenient to arrange collection of keys from the concierge
Review 47:The view from the apartment was fabulous . We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and being so high above traffic noises. The apartment was exactly like the photos on the website. The proximity to the Vauxhall tube station was convenient and just a ten minute trip to Victoria. Close to Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury's.
Review 48:It's hectic to get access to the keys, instruction are very poor, it tooks me one hour to find where to get keys, then to find the appartment.
Review 49:Great place to stay, the terrasse with thames view is great.
Review 50:Zero wifi very unhelpful office no explanation re workings of doors etcto flat No phone line Spent a fortune on my mobile just to try to talk with someone about no accesses to Internet or phone
Review 51:View and spacious flat and location
Review 52:Extremely sparcely furnished. The "big" screen TV is actually about 30 inches and the reception (it was satellite we think) was awful. No internet access for the first 24 hours.
Review 53:Great location for getting around London with across-the-street train, bus, and underground stations. A couple of nice restaurants nearby, especially Steax in the City.
Review 54:I had booked a luxury apartment. What I got for a lot of money was three stars at best. The pictures showed a modern and spacious place. Reality was a shower that had to be accessed by climbing over the toilet bowl, another shower in a bath tub that had a shower curtain and fungus in all corners. Non working fans, a clear view onto Vauxhall bridge instead of the river, loads of noise and no aircon. Very disappointing and no value for money. I've travelled to London on almost a weekly basis and have stayed in loads of apartments. This was certainly one of the most expensive yet one of the most disappointing ones.
Review 55:The WiFi was fast and worked. Shopping facilities were plenty but this is London so nothing special. Instructions to the facility were also clear and easy.
Review 56:Email with instructions for getting into building would not open properly causing long delay. Access method complicated and not personal Apartment not as depicted
Review 57:Outdoor dining at on site restaurants and view of the Thames
Review 58:Small details are missing, such as towel racks in the bathroom. One window was broken and could not be opened so the bedroom was a bit stuffy. However, these were minor inconveniences.
Review 59:Location is great - minutes away from central London on the tube, or a nice 30 mins walk; cafes and convenience stores just a minutes away. Communication with the staff via phone is easy. The flat is spacious, clean, and the kitchen is well equipped. The balcony is a major highlight!
Review 60:It was a nightmare when we arrived. We were left stranded with all our luggage and no way to get in to the apartment, no information on how to get the key, and absolutely shunned by the people at the concierge desk (they wouldn't even let us make a phone call!). Eventually someone at a local business helped us by contacting City Marque, and still we didn't have all the codes we needed to access a lockbox in a different location! Our welcome letter finally arrived two days later ("Your arrival is in -2 day(s) and we can't wait to host your stay in London!"), and probably wouldn't have arrived at all had we not made a fuss.
Review 61:Close to the Thames, restaurants, the Riverside Walk, the Vauxhall tube station, a Tesco, and tour buses.
Review 62:There seemed to be a language barrier with the staff. During our stay,we called for assistance with 2 simple issues. Although pleasant, we felt the staff did not understand us or just could not help.
Review 63:This apartment was absolutely beautiful! It was large and roomy, very clean and had wonderful views of the river, nice big windows that opened easily and access to the tube, railway and bus service was literally right outside. Very convenient for getting around London on vacation. Most everything we needed was provided and there was a Tesco express right at the corner for grocery items. There were also several restaurants and a coffee shop on the premises. Could not have been more convenient!
Review 64:key pick up wasn't clear, no parking available,
Review 65:It was a very good experience, location is very good, the Thames river view was the best of this property
Review 66:We had difficulty in finding the place where we got the keys for the apartment. Please indicate in the email more clearly the address of the electronic box (we thought it was an office with staff), the driver spent more than half an hoour to find the place (turned out the cars can not get in that street).
Review 67:Perfect view!
Review 68:No bad experience to speak of, but it's a 30 minute walk to London Eye or 45 minutes to Trafalgar Square.
Review 69:Facilities were great for the accommodation type and amount paid. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms and small living space makes excellent family accommodation.
Review 70:The toilet would not flush. The bedroom window would not open. I called for maintenance twice but no one fixed anything.
Review 71:Nice looking apartment. Very clean
Review 72:A nightmare to collect the key. No clear explantion on where to pick it up or how to get into the actual apartment building. Dusty, extremely slippery floors, very dangerous. Curtains hanging off rails, window unable to be opened. Not worth the money.
Review 73:Central position
Review 74:Very minor things, for example, burned out light bulbs, batteries missing for TV remote
Review 75:Location; very close to underground; has a wharf for additional transportation options; grocery and quick pick-up prepared foods plus three full service restaurants on premises
Review 76:I had no hot water in the apartment and this only got fixed 7-8 hours after my phone call, which meant the only hit shower I had, was the one the day I was checking out
Review 77:location very good
Review 78:Main fridge did not work and smelt. Would have liked request for one twin room to be implemented.
Review 79:Location was great, amount of email contact / information was good, key pick up / drop was easy. Tesco next door.
Review 80:Only difficulty with the flat was the fridge and freezer did not work. There was a very small counter-top fridge provided instead but this was too small to hold much (32 x 25cm). When I rang to complain, I was offered the option of moving to another flat but one without a view so we stayed put and made-do by putting stuff outside on the balcony. I must say that Martin who dealt with my call was very pleasant and sympathetic.
Review 81:A very comfortable, well-equipped flat in a really great location – easy to get to by tube or bus. Very quiet, attractive complex and the river view was spectacular.
Review 82:The view was partial and there was a broken chair. The towels in the kitchen were not very good quality.
Review 83:The location is excellent and the living room is very spacious. Sofas are very comfortable. Tesco supermarket is very close. Within walking distance from Westmister bridge. Also very close to good restaurants and the George Wharf Pier.
Review 84:having to pick the key up from a different location than the apartment even though it was not far away.
Review 85:Location, kitchen was great, clean and comfortable, perfect for our needs
Review 86:Everything was great EXCEPT the bed in the master bedroom which needs a new, quality, firm mattress as a matter of urgency. (Another slight irritation was the poor flush in the en suite toilet: needs attention).
Review 87:Stylish, clean and convenient, this apartment was like having a home-from-home in Central London. Our party split for various excursions but this location enabled us to meet up as required without excessive travel.
Review 88:Its extremely impersonal. We did not meet a single employee- you have to pick up the key from an address across the road - which our taxi driver just could not find. Once we did pick up the key and made our way to the apartment, we discovered that we had to carry out heavy luggage up a flight of steps and walk around to figure out our building - all in windy and rainy weather! There is a reception of some sort but no receptionist! You make your way to the apartment and leave by yourself. The beds were comfortable but tiny for 2 persons. The shower cubicle is tiny and hot water comes at its will - you have long bouts of cold water. Also, there was no washing machine in the apartment. Overall, an average experience.
Review 89:The apartment met our basic expectations in terms of facilities and cleanliness. Also the location was nice with a view of The Thames
Review 90:We did not receive any instructions before our arrival and when we arrived had no idea where it even was - presumed there was concierge - no!, had to ring and be led to lobby 10 mins away to pick up key - very very poor indeed
Review 91:It's a lovely apartment in a very convenient spot
Review 92:It was a bit complicated to find the right house. Would be great if all the house numbers and name would be on the map they send to guests.
Review 93:Modern big apartment with open plan kitchen and wonderful views of the river! Close to the bus station, underground, the grocery store and walking distance to Westminster Big Ben, London Yes.....
Review 94:Nothing really.
Review 95:Excellent location. Next to Vauxhall station. Near to attractions. Easy to get around London. Tesco and waitrose near by. Cafes also on the ground floor.
Review 96:it is a little hard to recieve the key
Review 97:very closed to underground station all kinds of cooking facilates apartment is large for two people and beautiful river view from the balcony
Review 98:- cold water at some times
Review 99:+ communication with staff + location and accessibility (close to tube and city centre) + patio and views + cleanliness and facilities
Review 100:Cleanliness of the kitchen, some black mould behind the sink. No tea-towel or paper-towel. Cleanliness of the ensuite shower - black mould around the edges.
Review 101:The location, airiness, space for 4 adults.
Review 102:There is zero concern for customers with this one. You get a set of instructions to pick a key up from a separate location which is difficult to manage with luggage. You then go to the apartment and there is no one to help locate the apartment (four different buildings) and it's difficult for cabs to stop out front. The carpets where stained and dirty, the garbage disposal smelt so bad we avoided being in the apartment and the apartment block has a number of fountains that are empty and generally tired looking. This one is a BIG disappointment and there is nobody to get customer service from. Shocking.
Review 103:The location is good and that's the only positive.
Review 104:We couldn't open the sliding door as it was broken. maintenance we aware of the issue but it couldn't be repaired until after we had checked out .
Review 105:Lovely apartment , great location
Review 106:Unclear instructions about Check - in procedure Wrong info received about apartment number/address Took 8 calls to Customers Service and 45 minutes to get apartment keys and finally get to my apartment Key unlock code did not work, had to have it sorted manually by Customers Service rep
Review 107:Asked more than 5 times to repair the fridge but never repaired. Informed the staff that we were traveling with small children. Hot water was limited in the morning for showers.Unable to make local calls.
Review 108:Location was great
Review 109:They exchanged our chosen apartments one day before arrival. There were not provided entrance code, room number, not correct reservation code. This was a mess !!!
Review 110:Good location but mangmentnot good all recaption they know the location in map We take one hour and half to reache as one man from the office to put our bbag in flat and when we left but the key in mail box no body come to recved it
Review 111:We didn't realise the fan switches were on for the first night so were a bit chilly to start
Review 112:I loved the location and not being crammed into one hotel room
Review 113:Lovely complex of apartments which are spacious with good views.Transport facilities and express supermarkets 2 minutes from apartments. It is also an easy walk into the centre of London.
Review 114:Man alive! It smelled really bad! The housekeeper blamed it on previous tenants and their cooking but I wasn't convinced. It didn't ruin our stay but I would be looking for a guarantee if I were to book again.
Review 115:For the money this flat is great. It's well appointed And really conveniently located. Stunning view and fab balcony overlooking the Thames. Tesco express 100 yards away but ...
Review 116:Very disappointed with the very strong smell of stale cigarettes which pervaded the whole flat. So much so, that when unpacking our suitcase at home, our clothes smelt of cigarettes! This was disappointing as was the lack of interest/concern from City Marque staff when the issue was brought to their attention.
Review 117:Smart apartment in good location. Very convenient for tube and taxis.
Review 118:Dirty stained carpets; broken blinds so anybody could view inside themain bedroom; couldn't sleep as bedroom with no blinds looked over ahighly illuminated courtyard which would have been lovely had we hadblinds to make it dark at night; Broken fire alarm system that beepedevery minute, it was hard wired into the mains and they told me to standon a chair and start playing with it to see if I could find a battery. They were going to leave us all night with it beeping until wecomplained bitterly then it was fixed; Bare wires where lights shouldhave been under the kitchen cupboards; mouldy bathroom; cracked floortiles; damaged mirror; different coloured paints where patches had beenrepaired; bits of broken plastic hanging off the wall; very limited warmwater; broken blinds to the living room; second bedroom stank of sweatyteenage boys; booking was a complete frustrating nightmare, if youdon't have a passport don't bother, they now have enoughinformation on me to commit identity fraud I just hope they are aware ofthe data protection act; the door to the balcony would not close withoutbeing locked so if anybody wanted to sit outside with the door closedyou had to lock them outside; limited tv channels; very tired flat thatneeds updating.
Review 119:The location was good
Review 120:The poor customer service we received during our stay and our ongoing communication relating to compensation for issues that were never resolved by staff. Also, the failure of senior management to contact us as agreed.
Review 121:The location of the apartment.
Review 122:It would have been better if there were curtains on the bedroom windows and not just blinds.
Review 123:The apartment was in a great location with only 2 tube stops to Victoria
Review 124:Really well appointed apartment with great view in superb location.
Review 125:Need at weakly cleaning for long term rentals
Review 126:Adding use of concierge for key collection would help
Review 127:Instructions for getting key and also finding apartment not clear. Also apartment could do with re-painting.
Review 128:Nice spacious. Modern apartment.
Review 129:Dust under beds and very slippery floor!
Review 130:Flexibility of accommodation with a young child
Review 131:No city maps or tourist info in the apartment.
Review 132:Location, view, access to public transport
Review 133:We got in a bit of a muddle getting the key but it was soon sorted out
Review 134:Loved the location close to the underground and bars and shops!
Review 135:Slight problem with getting keys Is not the easiest
Review 136:Fab apartment
Review 137:very relaxing, lovely location, good for traveling around London.
Review 138:Location Value Amazing view Facilities
Review 139:confusion where to pick up key. could have been explained better and before we got to London.
Review 140:Location, close to everything.
