Reviews for Bonningtons Stansted B&B
Review 1:Nothing, overall happy with the place for the purpose of my stay. Note however if you are putting the bill on expenses the price you pay is Excl VAT as the owner is not VAT registered, saying that I still feel the price was reasonable for the quality of accomodation and location and I shall be staying here again.
Review 2:Lovely setting and overall look of the main house and buildings. The owner has also put a lot of thought into the furnishing and overall feel of the rooms (very cosey, welcoming, tastefully decorated and accessorised). Very clean, comfey bed and my room had a modern bathroom which was nice with fluffy new towels! The owner was also very welcoming, and unlike some other places I have stayed at this winter, the heater was already turned on in the room which made it all the more welcoming on what was a pretty cold day. Good choice for the continental breakfast in again .... a lovely, well presented room. Also worth mentioning there is a lovely pub across the road !
Review 3:Arrived early and we were welcomed without complaint. The room was cosy and exactly what we needed for a one night stay. We had a lovely leisurely breakfast and chatted with the proprietor who was very sociable. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
Review 4:The wet room did get rather wet due to poor drainage and the mop left for the purpose couldn't cope with absorbing all the water. We used a couple of towels but, frankly, it was rather a hassle.
Review 5:A good selection of breads, preserves etc for the breakfast.
Review 6:The noise of the planes from stanstead but wasn't too bad
Review 7:The coach house was a lovely conversion of 4 rooms . Really nicely decorated and we loved the separate area for breakfast , which had a wonderful choice of food. We liked the privacy of being separate from the main house surrounded by a nice garden
Review 8:Trees in the car park need a little trimming to make it easier for unloading and parking car.
Review 9:We arrived late following M25 mayhem. Staff wonderful, helped us get a table at the brilliant local pub for a meal even after they had closed the kitchen.
Review 10:Nothing to dislike
Review 11:I can't rate this b&b high enough pleasant owner above and beyond to help us out. Breakfast was simple but perfect at the same time we stayed in number 4 right opposite breakfast room. The room was perfect for what we wanted will be staying again... Dave
Review 12:Ryanair abs Stansted airport hideous at night: so inhumane, crowded, inefficient and exhausting. Never again!
Review 13:Peter was the host with most: so cheerfully welcoming and kind. We arrived horribly late and exhausted to fibd a warm, cosy quiet room in the stable block all lit up and waiting for us. An amazibgly insginative self service breakfast and Perer's kind dash to take us to our train made a difficult hourney a lot easier. Highly reconmended.
Review 14:N/A
Review 15:More than just a room. I little home from home. Great location. Very friendly welcome. totally relaxing. would love to revisit at some point in the future.
Review 16:no towels. When traveling light towels are not brought for the journey, and anyway you don't want to travel with damp towels, or leave them in the car. There were no indication on booking that we had to bring towels.
Review 17:comfort and breakfast set up for early leavers.
Review 18:Nothing. (It is situated under Stanstead flight path, but this didn't bother me at all, as the planes are still quite high when they pass over, and don't really make too much noise).
Review 19:Friendly proprietors. Clean, comfortable and cosy room with good facilities. Comfortable stay. Good breakfast included in the price. There was a nice looking pub just across the road which looked good, but I didn't have time or energy for a pint. (I had just driven from Lille in Northern France, and it was late). I would definitely stay here again if passing through the area.
Review 20:Self service breakfast, had to make own tea and coffee and clear own tables. Bread and croissants not fresh daily, were out night before. Room too small for 3 adults, only just space to walk between beds. Nowhere to sit in the room with a mirror and plug sockets to dry and style your hair.
Review 21:Staff lovely
Review 22:a little outside talking late hours but no big deal.
Review 23:location to airport, rustic setting, charming interiors and external greenery and flora- breakfast room best i have seen and every detail and choice catered for - no negatives. ..great 2 day stay to visit london by train and car to cambridge - thank you
Review 24:Breakfast was the only let-down. If you like continental breakfast then it is ok. Unfortunately I am type 2 diabetic and most of the food is starch based so wasn't really good for me. However I don't particularly see that as a real gripe. But if they were to try to cater for my category of people then something more appropriate would go a long way.
Review 25:The setting was very nice. The people were likewise. The room was a pleasant place to be, en-suite, settee, TV and good hot drinks facility . The pub across the road did excellent meals and was inviting and friendly. The location of the place was good for forward travel by car to London. The price was good compared to the poor quality I had the week before in Stratford London. Overall I would definitely stay there again. The place left a good feeling in me; excellent.
Review 26:The location is a bit far from Bishop's town center but especially the road to the town is not very sure to walk until there as we originally thought. Luckily there is a bus a stop 10 steps from the b&b. And the station is filled with taxis waiting for customers in case you missed the last bus. Keep in mind it is a hour to london but it is a lovely location to enjoy the near green areas or little country towns Which deserve to be visited as well.
Review 27:Angela is a very lovely person to deal with. We loved our nice room and the whole residence with the little breakfast room in the garden. We felt like home for the whole Holiday.
Review 28:Some healthier breakfast cereals would be good
Review 29:Cosy and clean room with great shower. Short journey to the airport. Lovely warm welcome and will stay again.
Review 30:A warm welcome and a comfortable, well laid out room. The rooms have character in a converted barn, which makes a nice point of difference to many others I have stayed in.
Review 31:Bath with shower but low ceiling height would have personally prefer standing room shower
Review 32:Very friendly, supported local businesses great breakfast room and choice
Review 33:Proprietor too obtrusive at breakfast time. If it`s serve-yourself, then no need for him to come and wash up while we were still eating. Also, badly designed wash basin. Too shallow. Noise from people in upstairs room as we were in downstairs room (no 4)
Review 34:Comfortable bed. Help yourself breakfast.
Review 35:Nothing not to like.
Review 36:Room was comfortable and clean along with having style. Room for breakfast was also very well layed out and selection of food for breakfast was excellent.
Review 37:It is about 15 mins away from airport but you can ask owners aboutthe airport transfer. You can hear plains although that didn'tdisturb anything.
Review 38:Everything... The design... The smell... The owners... And the rooms aregorgeous I love this place!!!
Review 39:The proprietors were welcoming and friendly, the room was cozy and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was in a pretty room and had plenty of choice. It was a lovely spot and I wish I'd been staying for a few nights, rather than en route elsewhere. Extremely good value for money.
Review 40:- Not easy to find in the dark - Flight path a bit noisy - Over bath shower
Review 41:- Cheerful and helpful host - 10 mins from Stansted Airport - Comfy bed, warm room - Local pub 15 metres away - Excellent continental breakfast
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:We stayed here for one night after a wedding. The guy was very helpful and friendly (had to check in early). Rooms and breakfast was excellent, definitely stay here again
Review 44:A little difficult to find/see in the dark. Room was too small for the furniture in it. Bathroom had no heating and nowhere to hang towels.. suggest the owners consider heated towel rail to solve both problems!
Review 45:Charming buildings. Own entrance. Excellent pub across the road. Friendly owners despite late arrival. Breakfast included in price. Convenient for Stansted Airport.
Review 46:Accidently the smoke alarm went of at 3am whilst we were all sleeping - mystery yet to be solved!
Review 47:Comfortable beds, warm room, ideal bathroom. We stayed here in a triple room (double bed + single), the room was perfect. We had a nice surprise at breakfast - such a big selection: mini pancakes, break, rolls, ham, cheese, jam, fruit, yoghurt, tea coffee-amazing! And the Owners were so helpful and waited up for us to arrive. I woudl definately stay here again if I needed to catch an early flight :)
Review 48:I have travelled extensively over the past 20+ years staying in mainly mainstream hotel groups, however over he past 3 months I have ventured in to the unknown and have been very surprised with the levels of accommodation available by independent hotel / B&B's, Bonningtons Stanstead was a delight and I cannot wait to return.
Review 49:Nothing.
Review 50:Lovely room, really cosy and great price. Amazing wet room which was immaculate. Fantastic relaxed breakfast in the morning where we could wander in and help ourselves at whatever time we woke. The owners are really accommodating too, had a lovely chat with both of them and they were very helpful with their advice on the area. Would live here if possible!
Review 51:I was made very welcome by the owner. The room was as comfortable as the bed. The bathroom, though, was similar to a loft conversion; bath it, or leave it… Had a nice dinner in the pub across the road. A pleasant and relaxing stay.
Review 52:rooms clean, warm and cosy, newly decorated. Breakfast facilities excellent as they so flexible, airport transfer booking service really easy to organise in advance. would recommend anyone to use this B&B, people who run it are lovely and helpful. George Inn across the road was A1 in food and service, booking recommended though, its popular.
Review 53:Owner was very helpful, room was lovely and bed very comfortable. Really appreciated how quiet and private the room was. As a frequent business traveller this accommodation was a breath of fresh air compared to the impersonal noisy hotels I normally stay in. Laid back continental breakfast was great, as you can relax in the lovely breakfast room and all you need is there. I would definitely book there again.
Review 54:Quirky little bnb in a nice village. Pub across the road is nice. Very comfortable stay in a nicely decorated room. Breakfast is very nice and staff were very friendly.
Review 55:Nothing we didn't like, would be more accessible if we had a car but it's just 20 quid in a taxi from airport but that said had we known we could have taken the train to little Hallingbury and saved ourselves some money.
Review 56:We liked the quaint look of the place, nice country pub across the way. The couple who run it are very very nice and welcoming. Very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back.
Review 57:Loved the nice bright modern clean room set in forest settings , nice lay back approach to bed and breakfast , proprietors very friendly and helpful ,will definatly come back again
Review 58:Cleanliness, comfort, friendly welcome and option of do it yourself breakfast. Like the fact the rooms are all in a separate annex, lovely wet room too.
Review 59:Some aircraft noise. Room needed a more thorough clean. Shower-head required descaling.
Review 60:Attractive property in lovely surroundings. Ease of parking. Plentiful cold buffet breakfast in very pleasant, separate, small building. Excellent value for money. Extremely friendly hosts.
Review 61:We were down in the area for a wedding so needed an early check in after our drive from Manchester. We arrived a number of hours before check-in but had called ahead to ask if we could check in earlier. We still arrived earlier than the time they gave us but they let us check in anyway - the room was ready and really clean. Angela was really friendly and welcoming, the room was pretty spacious with character. Modern en suite and tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was great with a lot of choice! Would definitely recommend - value for money!
Review 62:Nothing we did not like.
Review 63:The compact but very comfortable rooms have everything you need. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are well decorated. The beautiful location is very peaceful, and nearby are plenty of choices for eating only a few minutes drive away. The breakfast was plentiful, and had a good variety of foods to choose from.
Review 64:Our room was just a bit small, but that is nothing compared to some of the tiny rooms you get in central London hotels.
Review 65:Overall, the hotel is great- Angela and Peter did everything they could to ensure our comfortable stay. Breakfast was especially nice, and it is good that there is a local pub near the hotel
Review 66:Noise from the planes. But is near to Stansted airport and guests have to realize that they will hear the planes in the morning. They do stop at midnight and we didn't hear any again until 6:30 am
