Reviews for La Maison Pavie
Review 1:This is probably the best hotel I've ever stayed at! The house itself is an old 15 century building, located right in the center of old town. The room was fantastic with great design and furniture. There is also a nice living room, where all visitors can stay during the day and evening. Breakfast was great! There is also a free parking lot. And finaly Jerome is very kind and helpful!
Review 2:My husband and I have recently returned from a 3 1/2 week trip to Austria, Bavaria, and France, during which we stayed at 13 different pensions and family run hotels. La Maison Pavie was definitely one of our favorites. The owner, Jerome has restored this 600 year old building to reflect the history and travels of a famous resident of Dinan, who was born in the house, named Auguste Pavie. His attention to detail, along with the way he has mixed the ultra modern with the very antiquated is so artistically done. There are numerous beautiful and interesting pieces of art throughout the home. We were on the top floor, accessed by a narrow winding staircase. The mattress was the most comfortable one we slept on our entire trip. And right in the middle of our room was a clear glass shower stall and an interesting pottery wash basin, contrasted against the old stone windows and wooden beamed roof. A delicious breakfast was served on very quirky Scandinavian dishes. And there is a wonderful sitting room looking out on a beautiful cathedral in the old town square, where you can relax and enjoy a glass of wine. We absolutely loved La Maison Pavie!
Review 3:Very comfortable B&B set in a lovely location in the centre of the old town. Rooms finished to very high standard - comfortable bed, good shower pressure, spacious with table to work if you need to and good WIFI. Jerome is a great guest and cooks lovely dinners. Breakfast is a continental breakfast with high quality foods and freshly squeezed orange juice.
Review 4:This is one of the best we have stayed four times now, pure endulgence Jerome is wonderful a true gem, if you want relaxation this is the place for you, steep stairs are involved to get to rooms I'm disabled but just take my time
Review 5:The room we had (3rd floor facing the main square) was stylish but open concept (including the shower and toilet) - so be prepared to hear and see all! Also, the smell of cigarette smoke is a bit evident throughout the building but you can always open the room window to make it less noticeable.
Review 6:Loved this place. Jerome was the best host - accommodating and welcoming. Building is truly historic but modernized with amenities and stylish decor. Included parking in safe/clean garage lot is a great benefit. This hotel is truly unique and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
Review 7:decor, accessories, style, atmosphere, amenities, feeling welcomed, very comfortable bed, excellent shower and bath, very good breakfast, special mention goes to tea corner
Review 8:Jerome was very welcoming, the accommodation is excellent both decor and location. The breakfast was delicious and we loved sitting around the large table meeting other guests. We enjoyed our stay immensely and wish we had stayed another night.
Review 9:That's the best place if you want to feel the history, atmosphere of this beautiful city. Close to all attractiveness. It was one of the best place we stayed. Thank you so much, Jerome!
Review 10:I can't think of anything
Review 11:Having trawled the internet looking for a B&B I came across La Maison Pavie and Booked for 3 nights based on the location in the historical town of Dinan and the reviews. I can honestly say that we had a wonderful stay, the room was excellent, it was very comfortable, warm and we loved the shower! The breakfast was great with fresh bread, ham, cheese, jams etc. Jerome is a great host and very friendly and will go out of his way to help you. I would rather keep this find to myself but if you are in the area book a stay at La Maison Pavie and you will not be disappointment.
Review 12:The hotel was very tastefully decorated with amazing attention to detail. Jerome was very attentive and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
Review 13:Not a problem of the B&B itself so much are the confusing one way roads of the old town area, plus some closed roads at this time. Don't let this stop you because the location is great.
Review 14:Great staff, location, room and breakfast with fun relaxing private garden patio to relax. Great underground nearby parking.
Review 15:We loved everything and found nothing to dislike! Perfection!!
Review 16:We loved the fusion of the old building structure with modern contempory furnishings. It is a unique and special experience to stay at La Maison Pavie!
Review 17:Nothing!
Review 18:Jerôme, the owner, is always ready to help you, but only if you need it. The place can not be better: you can see St. Nazaire's romanic door from the lovely shower of one room! The best is the interiorism of common areas and rooms: a perfect mix of a15th century maison, contemporary design and oriental furniture and details. Good breakfast. The best B&B in the lovely town of Dinan.
Review 19:Squeaky floorboards may bother some guests. To us, it just added to the ambience. After all, this is a 15th century listed building!
Review 20:Stayed in "Angkor" room with view across square in front & private garden at rear. Location is excellent. Décor stylish & eclectic with a historical story to tell. Loved everything about this property. Jerome is the ultimate host - welcoming, efficient, friendly & unobtrusive.
Review 21:This a delightfully enchanting little jewel in the very heart of ancient Dinan. Jerome was a charming and excellent host, who speaks perfect English. Parking conveniently near in underground car park
Review 22:The Patron took pains to ensure we were comfortable, and gave valuable advice about Dinan. His English was good but he was happy and patient enough to allow me to practise my French.
Review 23:Beautiful building with an interesting history which had been used to tastefully decorate and furnish the accommodation. Room was fabulous and the double shower a real treat! Breakfast was served with in the stylish dining room which was a pleasure. The owner was on hand to help and advise; he was charming and nothing was too much trouble.
Review 24:We liked everything. Jerome was an outstanding host. He was always happy to offer help and accommodate any requests. The location was perfect - right in the center of the old town. The room was beautifully decorated. Excellent breakfasts.
Review 25:Leaving this wonderful place
Review 26:It is not very often that you can mount the stairs of a building over 500 years old and lay to rest you head on a pillow in a room people from the middle ages already occupied. Welcome to Maison Pavie, a very authentic place among the surprisingly many very old structures in this historic town. Easy to find via GPS, except for the last few meters, where deviations render things a bit iffy. We dropped our car at the first possible corner after we realized we overshot the location, walked to the hotel and got directions on how to drive to the entrance. It really was a cinch. The age, condition and layout of the building blew us away, there is even a lounge for resting, a dining/breakfeast room for the food and a garden to relax in. The entire place is filled with antique pieces, many from Indochina. Our room combined a mixture of ultra-ancient with ultra-modern: exposed beams at the ceiling and walls, an ultra-modern and efficient free-standing totally glass-enclosed shower at one side of the room, everything has been painstakingly taken care off. We had a wonderful breakfast at the communal table including freshly squeezed orange juice, ham, 2 cheeses, 3 breads and croissant with butter and jams, yoghurt, omelette and other egg dishes to order. We even availed ourselves of the offered in-house meal cooked by our host Jerome, to really savor the ambience. Jerome cooks a very good meal: we had a great 4 course dinner paired with a nice bottle of a to us unknown Bordeaux. He also gives great suggestions for restaurants in town, we totally enjoyed our meal at the historic Cantorbery with very up-to-date food offerings. Dinan is very definitely a town to visit and if you do, the Maison Paview is without doubt the place to stay in!
Review 27:No dividing wall between en suite and sleeping area in the room in which we stayed, and steep narrow stairs would not be safe for anyone unsteady on their feet.
Review 28:Great location in town centre, excellent car parking arrangement, very helpful owner, and the beautiful rooms and garden
Review 29:Unusual that the toilet is not separate to the bedroom, which some may find off putting.
Review 30:Beautiful house inside and out. Very friendly welcome, free parking and great wifi. Owner also helped us find somewhere for dinner.
Review 31:nothing
Review 32:The ancient Maison overlooks a beautiful square and church. The rooms are all visually very attractive and a pleasure to be in. The guests sitting room has large windows and were very atmospheric, like being in a french novel, I wished we could have stayed longer! Jerôme was a perfect host with excellent recomendations!
Review 33:Everything excellent
Review 34:Everything from the unique historic building to its comfortable and stylish interior. Jerome is a considerate host so you feel that you are staying with a French friend rather than a hotel. We definitely recommend a stay at La Maison Pavie.
Review 35:This B & B is ideally located in the old historic section of Dinan. This 15c half-timbered house is beautiful on the outside and inside. It has modern features inside but they do not take away from the old original appearance. Jerome, the host, was a big asset to me, helping me with the bus and train schedules. Merci beaucoup.
Review 36:Superb locatin in the centre of the historic town. Host speaks excellent English and was extremely helpful. The venue provides a nice guest lounge and free tea and coffee throughout the day. A free parking voucher was given to enable parking in a nearby car park.
Review 37:Perfect location, interesting interior, breakfast, spirit of house, and very very helpful and friendly staff. Don't miss a dinner in the Maison, becouse Jérome is a good chef. Thank You Ince more, Jérome!
Review 38:Nothing at all
Review 39:Excellent central location, charming hotel in a couple-of-centuries old house, very tasteful decoration and cosy ambiance. Jerôme, our host, extremelly kind, helpful and elegant. Every detail taken care of. Common living room and dinner room are fantastic. Parking for the vehicule not in the hotel premises, but very close in a nearby parking house ( free of charge for guests) . Quick, functional wi-fi
Review 40:it is not a hotel for long stay due to it has not lobby, bar or a place to eat or drink something

Review 43:We love this 13th century inn for it's interior warmth and comfort, cleanliness and beauty, (it's stunning inside!) and for theinnkeeper who was kind and helpful and provided us with a fabulousbreakfast (included with our stay.) The location is also amazing sinceyou're within a centuries old walled city. Directly across thecobblestone street from the inn is a thousand year old church. Thelocation is also awesome!

Review 52:Everything. The hotel is right in the centre of Dinan and the free car park is underground and very close to the hotel. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the attention to detail was excellent. Breakfast had a great selection and nothing was too much trouble for our host Jerome.

Review 55:This was one of the more expensive places that we stayed at on our trip, but it was WELL WORTH IT! Amazing room, wonderful breakfast, common area with a fireplace and a garden seating area for guest use, friendly helpful host and it was right in the middle of town. I would recommend this place to anyone - and will!
Review 56:Friendliness and helpfulness of the owner. Wonderful breakfasts. Location- right in the centre of the old town with restaurants and cafes nearby. Free enclosed parking close to the hotel.
Review 57:Impossible to complain about anything.
Review 58:From the moment Jerome opened the door to welcome us you knew it was going to be a good place to stay. A marvellous host whose attention to detail in making you feel welcome was second to none. The room we had (Angkor), was large and superbly and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was a real treat and I only wish we'd been staying longer as I'm sure the dinner he'd prepare would be exceptional as well. We'll definitely stay again.
Review 59:It rained!
Review 60:The location is ideal for a visit to Dinan and Jerome is attentive and always ready to help. The facilities are top class. Think 'The Lambeth Walk........why don't you make your way there; go there; stay there'. Great breakfast. Super.
Review 61:Having to leave!
Review 62:This is the best place to stay EVER! Jerome was absolutely wonderful and we loved every minute of our five night stay. The house has been beautifully restored and offers every luxury! Breakfast around the big country table was delightful. No detail has been overlooked. You are even presented with a personalized newspaper each morning. Lovely lounge you can relax in after a busy day touring and there is a Nespresso machine and tea available for guests to enjoy all day. Great location in the heart of Dinan. Covered parking available right around the corner.
Review 63:The door of our room didn't lock properly from the inside. We left it unlocked since we were on the top floor and the main front door was locked. It worked when locking from outside the room.
Review 64:Everything!! Notably the easy to find central location of the historic half-timbered building; updated facilities; beautiful garden with raised seating/lounging area; indoor guest lounge with most comfortable seats; great breakfast selection and last but not least - the host Jerome, who made each guest feel special. We appreciated his restaurant picks and the parking pass for our car.
Review 65:From the moment we rang the bell until the moment we left a week later, everything was perfect! Jerome, the owner was very welcoming and "La Maison Pavie" is beautiful. We had the room at the top, which was large, with a very comfortable bed, which is hard to find in France. Breakfast was included, which was a standard french breakfast, with the addition of freshly squeezed juice every morning and a great selection of teas as well as a nespresso machine. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day and evening and there is a communal sitting room which is very comfortable. Jerome was very helpful with restaurant recommendations as well as information and suggestions regarding the best sights and when to visit. We loved everything about La Maison Pavie and have no hesitation in recommending it to other travellers. It is definitely a cut above other accommodation in france and offers exceptional value!
Review 66:- The bells. Damn those bells :0)
Review 67:+ Location + Comfort + Bath and shower (great pressure!) + View from room + The host + Lovely smell in the hall + Great building!
Review 68:The minute we were greeted by Jerome, our host, we knew we had picked the best B&B of our vacation. He has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Right in the heart of Dinan, you can walk the old streets and wake to the church bells. He will give you great recommendations for dinner and you will enjoy a delicious breakfast with a newspaper in English in his dining room. I would say it was our favorite stop of our vacation in France!
Review 69:The room and interior are comfortable and nicely decorated. Loved the shower with rain head! The breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed the sitting room overlooking the square and the comfortable garden seating under the honeysuckle. Jerome was a kind, attentive and helpful host. Loved it!
Review 70:Steep narrow twisting staircase up to the room. En suite toilet was effectively open to the rest of the bedroom so not very private
Review 71:Very styish interior in our room and the breakfast area, very good shower in the room, excellent central position in a quiet square, comfortable bed, nice toiletries, smart modern en suite bathroom, good breakfast, helpful owner, free parking in underground garage close by
Review 72:Lovely place that is so full of character and wonderful decor. Well situated for exploring Dinan. Jerome was the perfect host, so friendly and helpful. Would definately recommend it.
Review 73:Steep second floor
Review 74:Located in Dinan city center, close to the Cathedral, this beautiful historical (medieval) house, is one of the most photographed “monument” by tourists. Our room was of second floor (very steep stairs) but is was worthwile, not very large, but everything was clean and comfortable. WC in a little cubicle, Shower and basin in the bedroom. On the first floor a common sitting room was at guests disposal, plus you can use breakfast room even during the day for tea and coffe (real coffe with “nespresso” machine). On the ground floor a little secluded garden will welcome you after a long touring day! Free Wi-fi included Parking in a nearby city parking Very good ratio quality-price: I strongly recommend it.
Review 75:Nothing.
Review 76:Staying in a 15th century listed building once the home of a well known traveller to Cambodia ,Vietnam area . Jerome has with help from others produced a house with wonderful interior design. It combines traditional indo- chine with contemporary & the eclectic mix works really well. Jerome is a great host & the home cooking wonderful. If coming to Dinan again we would not think twice of wondering where to stay. Fantastic !
Review 77:Very minor point, no croissants served at breakfast, but otherwise a quality continental spread with local produce and speciality teas.
Review 78:Facing into a small square this historic building reflects the setting perfectly, it is a very old building with a great modern twist. Jerome extends a warm welcome. Lots of cafe culture to enjoy as well as shops and walks around the walls, great views over the river valley.
Review 79:I liked Everthing about the hotel. The style, room, common sitting room, food, the very halpful owner and so on. It had a personality that shone through. The owner cares about details and and he shows his care in providing the best facility he can. A man of very good taste and disernment. The decore was comforting, interesting and to a high standard. The local restaurants are very good and its in the heart of a beautiful medieval fortified town above a charming river which provides for a good excertion and another place to rest and eat or walk. I jave stayed all over the world and this is a place to remember.
Review 80:We found our room to be comfy and quiet. Great location and delicious breakfasts! Jerome is a terrific host and very helpful in answering questions in English!
Review 81:Jerome was so great and welcoming. The rooms were beautiful and breakfast was amazing. You can't beat the location. Exceeded all of my expectations!!

Review 87:Dinan is an amazing place, the weather was great and La Maison Pavie was extraordinary. We enjoyed the location in the old town, the building constructed in the 14th century with a modern funky interior and most of all the amazing attention to detail that our host Jerome provided. We loved our time there!!
Review 88:Stylish mix of old & new, attention to detail, luxury, great view, excellent breakfast, very convenient for all restaurants and attractions, attentive hosts.
Review 89:My wife thought the steps up to the top bedrooms were difficult to manage. However the age of the property means there is little that could be done to improve this.
Review 90:Everything about this place is beautiful. The owner is very hospitable and he goes the extra mile to make you very welcome. The morning newspaper was a novel idea and much appreciated.Lovely breakfast served in a splendid small dining room. Good showers in the bedroom.
