Reviews for The Oakley Court
Review 1:Nothing It's all wonderful!
Review 2:The hotel & facilities were all First class. The perfect setting for a romantic weekend away Or on business a beautiful place to relax after a busy day. This hotel really is a must stay If you are visiting Windsor . I look forward to my return visit in the not to distant future Thank you to all your staff they made me feel very welcome.
Review 3:Very expensive for fairly dated hotel. Rooms had very old, stained carpet, curtains were worn and dining services were very limited.
Review 4:Pretty grounds and buildings
Review 5:Did reserve a table in the scullery a week in advance for New Years evening but on arrival was told restaurant was closed and couldn't have taken my booking ! all ended well we just ate in the bar
Review 6:Its like being home from home - warm and cosy. accommodation spacious and traditional décor fits the hotel. Nothing too much trouble for the staff
Review 7:If I wanted to nit-pick, I'd say the decor in our room was dated. I'd like to thank a previous reviewer who flagged up that the vast majority of accommodation is in annexes built in the 70s - which is not shown on the website.
Review 8:Enjoyed a really good relax with cosy fires, magazines, the spa and good food in wonderful old country-house surroundings while it rained constantly outside. We need to go back in the summer as there's so much else to do!
Review 9:The room service food was horrible. The bathroom was dirty, even after paying a premium rate, very disappointing!
Review 10:The staff were extremely friendly and polite
Review 11:It would've been even more magic if the gym had been open a little earlier on New Year's Day. Not all of us need a late start!
Review 12:We love everything about this hotel. The staff are all so courteous, polite and happy! The location by the Thames is beautiful and the grounds are a delight. We stayed in the main hotel this time which enhances our stay even more. Thank you.
Review 13:A couple of things in the restaurant could have been improved: 1.Tongs fell on the floor and instead of changing them they were just replaced. 2. I asked for fresh lemon and saw the waitress pick it up with her hands instead of using tongs.
Review 14:Lovely comfortable hotel. Pleasant staff.
Review 15:Very friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Luxurious feel to the whole place. Open log fires in the communal rooms. Lovely grounds with maps provided for walking, running and biking in local area. Winsor and Eton very close by. Lots of wildlife, including Green Parakeets flying wild in the grounds.
Review 16:Amazing manor, very comfortable, sheer luxury, wonderful staff, nothing was trouble for them. Great rooms, great food, great afternoon tea, rich breakfast with great selection, fantastic gardens, clean attractive pool, even the small gym had a lovely trainer who made training pleasurable and effective. We can't wait to go back! The milk and biacuits for the children ion Christmas Eve was a fantsc
Review 17:The % that hotel take when you order a taxi But nickel & dime. Leaves a bad taste when you are paying Over 2oo gbp a night
Review 18:BACK TO ITs BEST Staff where great As booking.com know I stay over 200 nights in hotels. I haven't been to this property for couple years But heard it was under new owners And very pleased I gave it a try Absolutely back to its very best of previous years Staff are a credit to the hotel
Review 19:Bedroom decor a little tired, could do with updating.
Review 20:Very festive, fantastic atmosphere, relaxed and informal but still keeping its class, would definitely be returning.
Review 21:Hotel had a very cosy, relaxed gothic atmosphere. Good to see real open fires throughout. Attractive gothic architecture in a riverside setting. Plenty of parking space. Friendly, efficient staff. Very good selection for breakfast.
Review 22:Poor quality of fittings in bedrooms (mismatching and chrome worn off due to excessive cleaning chemicals over the years)
Review 23:Staff attending to fires and being greeted with warm mulled cider on a cold day.
Review 24:Nothing to dislike
Review 25:We found the entire experience a joy! Couldn't wait to get back to those comfortable sofas and log fires after a day of sightseeing. Staff efficient and friendly.
Review 26:Bathroom did not function to the required standard - toilet poor flushing, shower ineffective, Loo paper holder broken. Scullery Restaurant dinner was uninspired so we cancelled second night dinner booking.
Review 27:Location, character of building, excellent staff, very good breakfast.
Review 28:Great food, almost a reason to stay on its own! The sommelier is great, but he could do with being given a bit more latitude to expand the wine list!
Review 29:The windows would not stay open so it was necessary to put a couple of folded beer mat to keep one of them ajar at night. Even in winter we do like a little fresh air.
Review 30:The hotel has a super location right on the Thames and only a couple of miles from Windsor. The staff were helpful and polite and the rooms large clean and comfortable. I suspect that the room we were in in the East wing had probably been recently refurbished as it was very clean with no nasty marks from previous guests.
Review 31:Dreadful vegetarian food at wedding breakfast. How can solid pasta lumps with no veg be regarded as appropriate for a celebratory meal? More suitable for construction worker.
Review 32:Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 33:The suite was amazing, service and friendliness was great. The breakfast was perfect and we wish we could have stayed another night.
Review 34:Only minor gripe is that lugging big heavy suitcases upstairs and along the corridors was a bit of a pain.
Review 35:Former location of Hammer Films Dracula series. Very atractivo building in gorgeous gardens leading down to the Thames - where you can hire boats by the hour. Excellent full English breakfast. Friendly and competent staff. Overall highly recommended.
Review 36:Restaurant staff need lessons in people skills, however the breakfast staff were also superb. It was just the evening team that let you down.
Review 37:The main hotel staff are brilliant.
Review 38:We were in the main mansion as it was a birthday treat for me but unfortunatly we were right next door to the bridal suite who had half their guests back to their room until 3am!
Review 39:Lovely building, located by the River.
Review 40:Friendly staff, fairytale and peaceful setting, top notch service, food and adult beverage selection, and a LARGE room. Everything you need, all in one place.
Review 41:Room was in extension - decor bit dated For the price I expected a turn down service at night In East wing- Long way to walk to reception Areas outside main/original hotel building lack character and may have been part of a cheaper hotel. Price high for quality of room
Review 42:Pretty location near river Lovely grounds Breakfast well displayed and plentiful Lovely sculptures Plenty of free parking Inclusive WIFI
Review 43:The picturesue location of this hotel right next to the river is stunning as are it's beautiful grounds. The hotel is so comfortable, has character, is very tasteful and the friendly efficient staff make you feel very welcome and at home. Would definitely recommend it.
Review 44:This hotel was incredible. The grounds are beautiful and i cannot fault the hotel or staff on anything. It is expensive but i got a great deal on booking.com and you certainly get what you pay for!! Made for a perfect weekend.
Review 45:Absolutely amazing hotel and customer service. We went for my husbands 40th birthday and they couldn't do enough for us. We were even upgraded! Fantastic.
Review 46:Nothing to complain about.
Review 47:Staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel settings and gardens were beautiful. Very good location and we used the bikes courtesy of the hotel and rode into Windsor along the river.
Review 48:The room smelt musty, damp and stale when we entered and the windows didn't open which didn't help. There were insects in the room which was bad. The flush on the toilet hardly worked and water pressure in the shower was terrible.
Review 49:Loved the river running through the grounds as well as the grounds themselves. The drive way was very welcoming, the staff lovely and the bar at lunchtime sitting outside was perfect
Review 50:The decor was very very tired and outdated as were bathrooms. Furniture old and marked. Windows that did not open. Very disappointed for the price we paid for our room!!
Review 51:Beautiful building and grounds
Review 52:Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. Just perfect. We had a complimentary room upgrade to as it was the birthday of my sister who also stayed. So were extra pleased and thoroughly enjoyed out stay.
Review 53:The grounds are lovely as are the staff members all around the property. The accommodations are tastefully complete. We only wish we had more time to enjoy it all!
Review 54:Resturant was fully booked - I know you advise to book but sometimes it's nice not to organise . Spa closed at 8.30pm : we went to use it after we got back from dinner to be told had to be out by 8.30pm Bath took 40 mins to run as the pressure was so low - room 103 (suite) Would have been. I've to have 1 shower gel each as we showered at night and in the morning and minimal left for the 2 of us ! Enamel coming off round the plug in the bath looks a bit u slightly . Thank you for upgrade to suite but wondered whether my booked deluxe room with view may have been better .. ???
Review 55:Location
Review 56:Markups on wines very high. Room a fair distance from main building - not ideal for disabled wife
Review 57:Beautiful surroundings, excellent access to places we wished to visit, excellent food, friendly and efficient staff
Review 58:No bad experiences only minor niggle the bed was too hard - but we appreciate this is a personal thing!
Review 59:Staff very welcoming and friendly, lovely food and relaxed atmosphere.
Review 60:Great luxury hotel, good breakfast and dinner. Travelled with a 9 months old baby and while we didn't expect the room to be particularly child-friendly, it was very spacious and safe with nice, solid furnitures that wouldn't fall down and had no breakables (like vases). Our baby enjoyed crawling about.
Review 61:It would have been nice to have had a little more choice on the bar menu. The food quality was however excellent.
Review 62:The quality of the cleanliness of the hotel rooms and leisure facilities was superb. The large bed was incredibly comfortable and the room size was exceptional.
Review 63:the dinner was poor, three of the meals were not up to the other qualities of the hotel, steak was very small, other adult meals not good. However breakfast was excellent
Review 64:location and staff
Review 65:We stayed two nights. The only thing was both the bar & the scullery seemed to have the same menu both nights.
Review 66:Loved the hotel. Staff very friendly. Beds very comfortable. Room was gorgeous. Would loved to stay longer.
Review 67:Very poor internet, rooms were not cleaned very well each day.....bins not emptied, glasses not cleaned
Review 68:The location was fantastic, staff very friendly, facilities great
Review 69:Waiter poured wine without asking if we wanted to try it first AND poured second bottle straight into first glass - not done!! Also asked for burger for daughter with NO salad or anything green or red - 'only to find tomato in bun! Little things, but important Breakfast team were wonderful Cream Teas only after 2pm was a pain as we needed one at 11.30 ..... But that was fine
Review 70:The ambience. The staff. Pretty much everything
Review 71:Sink plug O ring missing so water would not stay in bowl. Nuisance for wet shaving !
Review 72:The outside gardens that run down to the river. Comfortable room and decent breakfast.
Review 73:Enjoyed our stay, as we knew we would, but had we'd known that the hotel had a convention on, that was not to our taste, we would not have booked this particular weekend.
Review 74:I've stayed there before in March 2014. I found the staff excellent and friendly, couldn't do enough for you. Also loved the location and the afternoon tea. So my friend and I decided on another overnight break at this lovely hotel.
Review 75:No bad experience
Review 76:The whole experience of staying at this hotel is a joy. It is our second time here and certainly won't be our last. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. The staff uniforms are quirky and give the hotel a less formal approach. Everybody is extremely helpful.
Review 77:Awoken by phone at 5am ringing once! Spoke to reception to see if there was a fault on the line as it did it again at 9am. Completely disinterested!
Review 78:Lovely location
Review 79:Not a bad experience but spa could do with a refurb and upgrade to make it more in keeping with a 4 or 5 star hotel. Changing rooms and showers a bit tired, steam room far too bright and not steamy enough. Hot tub and pool okay.
Review 80:The grounds, rooms, building in general, breakfast and friendly helpful staff. Spa facilities okay but need upgrading.
Review 81:Breakfast was poor, fresh bread was cut loaf or a bloomer, no croissants on 2 days, food left too long overcooked in heated trays. Such a pity to be let down in this way in view of the exceptional standards and pleasantness elswhere
Review 82:This was our third stay this year, so obviously we like it here. Lovely grounds. Lovely large room in the lodge. Pets very welcome with a dog bed, bowls and a goody bag! and enormous walking area.
Review 83:Not a bad experience but very limited for eating in the evening, burgers or £125 for tasting menu and wine. So we ended up getting taxis all three nights to eat in Windsor.
Review 84:Fantastic location
Review 85:Room service - ie. If you don't pay for a Junior suite you don't get your bed turned down. Service - feels great but isn't Reception - not even a "how was your stay" Restaurant - find your own menu and leave your mobile number with a member of staff so that they can confirm a booking even though you are staying there.
Review 86:Location, History
Review 87:The food was very good but the breakfast was the best. We had a problem with the air condition in our room, it wasn't working very well but they couldn't repair it straight away and though the hotel was quite booked they managed to change our room that same afternoon with a equal quality room if not better. The gym and swimming pool were a bit small but had all the equipment needed.
Review 88:It was my birthday and the hospitality manager (Alistair) made sure I was treated well without making a huge fuss. The service of all the staff was great. The lunch by the riverside very nice. All good.
Review 89:I upgraded for a "room with a view of the river". This was true, but hardly a view I was expecting - ground level, not close, and visible only when standing in bay window. Disappointing. The waiter I had unfortunately was very slow, even between showing me to a table and offering me the menu (several minutes), whilst seemingly chatting to colleagues. Otherwise staff were very good.
Review 90:Superb food. Excellent setting including outside restaurant.
Review 91:Bit pricy for wine and beer Drunk wedding party revellers not the hotels fault, I would add, and the police were called to be fair Had to use towels twice as they were not changed in the evening. 4 stars at other places did better
Review 92:Ambiance
Review 93:Visited this place around 8 times and twice this year. Very disappointed with the service on this occasion. Lost the booking in arrival, service in the outside restaurant nonexistent had to wait forever, reccomeneded it to friends they said the same.
Review 94:Love the location and surroundings
Review 95:a great deal of dust in corners and edges of carpet and top off bottle of water half under bed along with bits of paperand lots of dust under tv cabinet. also very slow to check in
Review 96:beautiful location, and well kept public areas
Review 97:Paying £8.00 for a pot of tea, I've never had to pay for tea or coffee before in a 5star, even in Dubia, also ask for a drink and was serve a substitute and wasn't told, and then havin to wait over half hour for a new drink, and then at breakfast when in went up to get some fruit, to find when we got back our table was clear, bearing in mind just ordered another hot drink
Review 98:The location was fabulous right on the river, the rooms were very nice but needed to be updated, the location was 5 star but not the rooms
Review 99:Cold breakfast (should have been hot!). Reception unsympathetic to niggles about service and room key problems.
Review 100:Location and outside terrace restaurant. Overall cleanliness.
Review 101:The beds weren't to the luxury standard of the hotel itself they were a bit too soft and the best kept sliding away from the headboard.
Review 102:The setting is absolutely stunning! Amazing property! The room was fabulous and the breakfast was one of the best i've had!
Review 103:as we were travling with a small baby we would have liked to order room service however the menu was very poor and overpriced. When we made enquires about the possibility of getting two sandwiches off the bar menu delivered to the room we were told no, ' chefs rules'. We found this inflexibility dissatisfactory. We ended up getting food from M&S the second evening. Also our room had a lot of cobwebs particular around the window.
Review 104:Location and lovely grounds. Staff in bar were extremely polite
Review 105:Not a good experience at check in, hotel couldn't initially find our booking, rather than re-assure us, we were left wondering whether the booking would be honoured. In the outside restaurant where staff were young and keen but did not appeared to have given training. Our room was opposite the cleaners store room. They like to start early, like to chat to each other and aren't aware that you can hear every word. Great location but Hotel, based on our experience should support the staff by training.
Review 106:Location, location, location
Review 107:The hotel is well situated for getting around, the grounds are beautiful and the facilities are as you would expect of a quality hotel. The staff were welcoming and professional without being overbearing, nothing seemed to much bother. Overall our stay was enjoyed greatly.
Review 108:Our room wasnt ready untill 45mins after the stated check-in time so we had to wait in the bar. Not offered any comp drinks. Got to room at 1545 and had no electrics. The wedding we were attending started at 1630 so we had to get dressed in dark and shower in dark within 45mins. Could not wash and straighten hair so had to attend a wedding with bad hair!!! Had to weait for 30 mins for a table for Breakfast the next day!!!!
Review 109:Location and grounds were lovely and staff friendly.
Review 110:Several things were not befitting of a hotel of this calibre: No lift to first and second floors - ask for G/F room if you have a lot of luggage or difficulty with stairs. Breakfast was so so - no sign of the freshly cooked eggs that the small print on the menu referred to and all but one type of juice has run out by mid morning Attitude of staff was satisfactory but nothing more, with the exception of the lady in charge of events who was excellent.
Review 111:Wonderful location in its own right and great for local sight seeing. Very comfortable room with good tea & coffee making facilities and free wifi.
Review 112:Everyone was professional and welcoming and we got upgraded as I requested something special as it was my partners birthday and we had a bottle chilling with compliments in the room. They had a festival on which was excellent and I didn't want to leave. The free cycle hire was a great initiative and
Review 113:The building is without elevator so carrying heavy luggage two floors up could be a challenge.
Review 114:Should have checked in earlier to enjoy the vast field in the property and walk along River Thames under warm afternoon sun.
Review 115:I wish I had booked the afternoon tea and a table in the resturant when I booked the room as it was all booked up when we arrived. If you w t to add the extras book in advance.
Review 116:We were lucky with the weather so being able to sit by the Thames and watch the boats go by was wonderful. The atmosphere of the place was romantic and peaceful.
Review 117:Only -ve would be the large lime and soda I ordered after our nine holes which cost £5!
Review 118:Staff were great, very welcoming. Facilities were excellent. Location is perfect. Setting incredible.
Review 119:Room not ready at check in time, lunch service was slow in the bar, breakfast was understaffed resulting in a long wait; eating amongst dirty tables; key items missing from buffet. Poor level of service and attention to detail. No acknowledgement of feedback by email. Dissapointing.
Review 120:Stunning location and setting, perfect for romantic get away.
Review 121:WiFi reception very poor and alternative router socket in room broken
Review 122:Loved the location and the views from the East wing to the river. Enjoyed walking the dogs there. Comfortable room. Room service prompt and the meal was cooked nicely.
Review 123:nothing I didn't like.
Review 124:I absolutely love this hotel. now rated my all time favourite hotel. the staff were exemplary! the food was fantastic. our stay was extremely enjoyable. in fact I am going to write a thank you letter.
Review 125:Nothing apart I don't think younger members of staff should be standing around gossiping when they are working
Review 126:Everything. We were upgraded to a river view suite because it was our anniversary. We also got a bottle of free fizz and balloon. Glass of fizz on arrival, polite and attentive staff. Breakfast was probably the best I have ever had in a hotel. The hotel itself is stunning!
Review 127:Tired dated room in need of a lick of paint at the very least. Bathroom poor with 70 s furniture. Plughole in sink rusty and door handle loose. Dirty plate given when having afternoon tea and slow service. Hotel is in a great location but rooms needs a makeover.
Review 128:Location and facilities
Review 129:Some of the young staff could have been a bit more attentive. An example was me standing at the bar waiting to pay my bill with at least 5 staff members nearby and not one asked if I was being helped.
Review 130:Hotel itself is amazing. Quaint and traditional with excellent grounds next to the river. Plenty of space for kids to run around and the boats and rowers passing by on the river every now and then. Great location in the summer
Review 131:Everything was great, even when there was a mix up about our room, it was sorted promptly and we were compensated for the mistake
Review 132:Fantastic Location, friendly helpful staff, pet friendly, great food
Review 133:The Oakley Court Hotel is ideal for families travelling with young children. So much space to play and explore along the beautiful Thames. Small indoor pool is superb. Bikes and helmets for hire. Lovely.
