Reviews for Clink78

Review 1:Would be nice to have a bigger locker to keep your stuff. The existing one is only enough to fit your wallet and documents.

Review 2:Location, comfort, rooms are warm and clean, friendly staff and great interior.

Review 3:Small room in the basement (no network and internet) next to the bar. A little noisy but ok for me as i'm a heavy sleeper.

Review 4:Nice common places. Had a 6-bed room all for myself for 4 nights.

Review 5:That the wifi do not reach the rooms, I get that you try to get the people outside but without wifi in the rooms the people go outside to check phone and do computer things instead of socializing

Review 6:The atmosphere and the different things that you can do inside the hostel, also the location.

Review 7:The hostel that has been the most strict and punctilious with check out timing for me Location is pretty meh Unlucky enough to get a room near the road - quite noisy! (Ear plugs)

Review 8:Amazing common rooms! Most interesting ones I've seen so far out of the many many hostels I've been to

Review 9:The room is crowded and terrible and also dirty. and... the bar 24 hours in the hostel definitely disturbing people who are sleeping:(

Review 10:Free storage to put your luggage! Many facilities and Kitchen!

Review 11:The hostel is full of construction workers, a lot of immigrants who lookfor a job in London. There are some students, but mostly rooms are fullof stinky men, no air condition, smells very bad everywhere !! verydirty, breakfast just bread, jam and cereals. Overall bad experience, cannot sleep, people re swearing, stinking, shower is impossible totake, no towels awalable, everything is dirty. Avoid

Review 12:Really nothing

Review 13:I stood in a room with toillet, but the toillet was very small and room had no chairs or tables, so I have to leave things on the floor in front of the bed. It wasn't so confortable in that sense.

Review 14:Very clean and organized. The breakfast is very simple, but good.

Review 15:It is right at the main road but has ancient windows that provide little sound insulation. One guy at check-in desk wasn't the most helpful (but all other staff were quite good)

Review 16:Conveniently located in the city centre. The breakfast was quite good.

Review 17:The showers were really confusing, they need to sort out their hot and cold water situation.

Review 18:Location was great and it had a great vibe. Staff were really friendly and helpful too.

Review 19:It was very central and good value for money. The bedroom was clean and perfectly adequate for an overnight stay in the city. The breakfast offered a decent selection of food.

Review 20:It can be very loud at night with a youth driven party atmosphere. If you're into that, this is a place for you. If you want to sleep. You may want to request a room far from the social areas.

Review 21:For the most part it was a clean environment with nice staff.

Review 22:Some guests were very loudly at night.. If you can sleep through the noise it's ok

Review 23:The hostel is around 10 min by foot from kings cross station. From there you have very good access to all places

Review 24:Only 1 lift - A few/small toilet - Room without lockers - not many place for luggage and few socket - A few shower - Luggage Room with a few of lockers

Review 25:Easy to find, near King cross station - Reception 24h - ATM in hall - Security badge - WiFi in room - Room with Heater/Fan - Kitchen full furnished - Cozy common area - Night Pub near kitchen/common area - many socket near the table - Breakfast with bread/jam/juice/corn

Review 26:I did not like the fact that you can't buy alcohol to bring into the hostel, cramped hostel rooms, and the layout of the hostel where the bar is located right next to the lounge area. It made for an awkward environment.

Review 27:I liked the friendly staff, lounge areas, and the bar downstairs

Review 28:The dorm room was cold (thankfully blankets were good =) )

Review 29:Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff. Good, basic breakfast and wifi worked very well in common areas.

Review 30:The room was small, cramped and dirty. Two people could hardly stand together in the room. I knew it would be basic due to the cost but it was horrible, I checked out within the hour and went to another place to stay.

Review 31:A very good place to spend a few nights with friends, or alone. Check in always starts after 2pm so don't go sooner than that or you are in for a wait! The place is clean, tidy and packed with young people from all around the world, super fun and felt safe at all times. Plus it is 10 mins away from Kings Cross and you can go anywhere from there!

Review 32:We knew not to expect hotel or B&B standards from a hostel, but even so, this was our first and most certainly our last time ever staying in any hostel. The room was cold, yet stuffy, with an unbelievably stiff mattress, flimsy pillows, a thin blanket and unswept floors. The light in the (shared) toilette was broken, so we had to use flashlights on our phones to go to the washroom. The final straw was checking in... never in my life have I had my passport demanded instead of my booking reference upon check in, followed by an immediate rude demand for payment. When we tried to pay, our currency was denied!!! We had pound sterling (we made sure that all the bills we brought from Northern Ireland said sterling) and the man refused them! He said we could find other bills or we could leave! Can you even imagine!! This was 8 pm on a Sunday night in central London a week before Christmas... was else was I going to find that late that didn't cost a fortune? We rummaged through our bags and found two suitable bills that he took with a grunt. It was ILLEGAL of him to refuse our money, and to top it off, we were not given a receipt. (Which I only noticed after check out.) Finally, when I asked for our bags from the office that the kind girl in the morning had put there, he was incredulous and wanting to know what in the world our bags were doing there.... It was an all over unpleasant, unwelcoming, intolerable and scary experience, and not only will we never return to this particular establishment, but it was enough for me to know that we will be avoiding hostels all together in the future at all costs.

Review 33:Breakfast of toast, cereals, juice and coffee was perfectly serviceable and the kitchen/dining area was clean and inviting. Our request for early check in was not acknowledged so when we got there at 11 am we were told we couldn't check in until 14:00 but we could leave our luggage. When I was too uncomfortable leaving our luggage in an essentially open luggage room (every guest with a card key could access it) a lovely young lady offered to take our bags into the office where they would be secured. This was very kind and forthcoming of her.

Review 34:It was too hot in the building. This may have been a result of the temperature outside being unseasonably high. I felt sorry for the staff having to work in that heat. Fortunately, the windows of the dorm opened so we could keep cool but that method is rather wasteful in terms of energy use.

Review 35:I dislike the shower facility. In front of the bed B shower room I couldn't control the temperature. Also staffs in there were a little bit unkind to me.

Review 36:I was satisfied with the large kitchen and also there are many people to meet

Review 37:The hall had a lot of strange man who seemed to just be waiting around. Although it wasn't advertised as a party hostel, it was. People were smoking and drinking at the entrance, at 7 o'clock in the evening. The hostel is poorly visible and difficult to find. There were 2 outlets in a 14 people bedroom, and no locker for luggage. The room also had a shared bathroom outside being used by male ocupants, although the room was only female. The beds were so tight together it was basically like sleeping with a stranger. This also made it difficult to access them. I have stayed in hostels all over Europe, and many times in London, and I've never had to go somewhere else because of feeling unsafe or having such poor facilities in a hostel.

Review 38:The beds weren't too bad.

Review 39:- too much noise at night. - the fire alarm went off during our first night - toilets were small and not well ventilated. Due to the large amount of visitors they were often smelly and not so clean anymore.

Review 40:- room and breakfast were ok. - good location - fast wifi but only in public spaces

Review 41:A beautiful building with an interesting layout of courtrooms, kitchen, dining hall and rooms. The premises were kept clean ask the time. The staff was quite friendly.

Review 42:Good location and good price. Near train station. Staff helpful. Very safe and clean too! Great little bar downstairs does be fun! Loads of facilities!

Review 43:Breakfast is very bad.there are only bread, butter, jam, cornflakes, juice and tea. There is no cheese and olive. Additionally there is no internet in the rooms.

Review 44:Location is good. Prices are normal

Review 45:Submarine rooms, in style and size. Cold, too. The place is a maze...Shared bathrooms get yucky if you are not the first one in. The breakfast consists of cheap toast bread and instant coffee.

Review 46:Nice staff. Decent location for the money, but you can do better.

Review 47:Too narrow room for 4 people. Too hard mattress. Too thin pillow. Too noise in the corridors during the night. Too noise from outside the window.

Review 48:Included breakfast.

Review 49:Internet only available in social areas. Worked well thou.

Review 50:About 15min walk from Kings cross. Has a convince store across the road. Stairs up to the door but security happy to help me with it. Elevator indoors to go between levels. Breakfast was simple but good and included in the price. Constantly saw the cleaners about working hard. Great hostel to stay at. I recommend the free walking tour.

Review 51:breakfast is kind of a joke - corn flakes and jam/butter.. at least boiled eggs would be nice the bar has "parties" until 1 PM - so try to get a room further away .. unless you are a night owl/out late in which case in fine

Review 52:clean. nice location - can walk to king cross as a bar with good reasonable priced apple cider :_p. shared toilets etc very clean

Review 53:Didn't like one member of staff asking me to see my key while he was drunk. Felt like I was being attacked. Verbally

Review 54:Serbia is great place is very clean and tidy

Review 55:Incredibly noisy, don't expect to get to sleep before 3am. Full of travellers who sound like they are on amphetamines frankly!

Review 56:It was cheap and in central London.

Review 57:My dog has stayed in better kennels than this place which hasn't been done up since the 80's/90's. Windows so thin you couldn't sleep, I literally checked to see if the window was open because I instinctly thought it was, due to the level of noise coming from outside. Students sat on the stairwells drinking which puzzled me because all the stairs were single file, metal and ridged. Police riot van outside was the cherry on the cake. I didn't even sleep here I walked in and 1 minute later I checked out.

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:The dorms are very small, have virtually no light and the whole basement can easily get you claustrofobic. Hence it stinks really fast and gets stuffy

Review 60:The staff is great, groundfloor common areas are cool and the atmosphere is busy and overall nice. The location next to King's Cross st Pancras is great

Review 61:They had their Staff Christmas party and closed the kitchen. I know that there's another Clink hostel across the street but I think it's kinda desrespectful to close it at all.

Review 62:Lovely staff, accommodations.

Review 63:Loo roll

Review 64:Great place to stay. Double room was great! Stayed many times and will stay again! Breakfast is just what you need and avoids spending loads on another meal.

Review 65:Breakfast was free but was only toast and cereal. But for the price of the room, not a huge disappointment.

Review 66:Nice option for a private room instead of a hotel that much more expensive. Very close to Kings Cross and a few neighborhood grocers.

Review 67:Sound proof of the rooms in the ground floor (G), considering the bar hours and entrance hall music. Lack of plugs closer to the upper bunk beds. Lack of wifi signal inside the rooms.

Review 68:Helpful staff. (Meager) breakfast included - enough to start the day though.

Review 69:Well, staff was quite rude and unhelpful and the hostel is not clean at all. For example, There was vomit on one of the beds, which had not been cleaned in the morning after the departure of the responsible for the mess. Once somebody complained about it, the staff was quite rude and made THE NEW GUEST (the one who discovered the vomit) take off the sheets and the pillow! And they took forever before cleaning, basically leaving the smelly dirty sheets full of vomit on the floor where other guests were walking barefoot. Also in general the hostel did not give me a general impression of cleanliness.

Review 70:The central position and the 24-hours reception. That's pretty much it.

Review 71:The staff was amaizing. Always there for you. They were cleaning 24/7. Position of hostel is pretty near everything including metro station. So many space, very comfortable. Great. We will se again that's for sure.

Review 72:Staff weren't overly friendly, the wifi was horrific, got on once in 3 days

Review 73:Only 5 min walk to the kings cross tube station. There was a great kitchen

Review 74:It was really huge with a ton of people and less intimate.

Review 75:There was plenty of space, the location wasn't bad for walking or for taking the transportation, breakfast was included!, price was cheap. Over all the value for the cheap price was what you could expect.

Review 76:Showers in my 4-ppl dorm (ensuit) was a nightmare. Too small to hide from the ice cold / piping hot water -> leave door open -> all bathroom will get wet.

Review 77:Quiet 5th floor, free breakfast.

Review 78:The wifi was bad (only available in common areas) even when it was available. The rooms were essentially tenements; there were 12 people in a room large enough for two persons.

Review 79:Being an old courthouse, this building had some really cool features that were retained. The common rooms were welcoming and original, and the bar/kitchen were very upbeat.

Review 80:There is only one electrical socket per room for 6 or 12 people is complicated. breakfast is quite simple coffee, tea or juice, cereal and bread with jam. I think if you add cheese or bologna for bread plus fruit. it will be great.

Review 81:A building with facilities for handicap is something that surprised me positively. The location near Kings Cross St Pancras and less than 5 min walk. The overall hotel facilities are quite acceptable and offer breakfast which enhances the value of the investment.

Review 82:Had a room next to the bar and can get noisy as the door opens. Partying went on until 1 am.

Review 83:Location is great, very central. Private room is good. Breakfast is healthy and adequate, great value for $

Review 84:Bed safe was broken No headboard on top bunk, which allowed my pillow fall in between the bunk and the wall in the middle of the night.

Review 85:Clean showers Party atmosphere

Review 86:Over crowded, the beds shook when others were moving. To climb on the top bunk was a pain as footing was difficult (and I'm petite). It was quite cramped and no free lockers for your luggage.

Review 87:Cool interior design, nice staff.

Review 88:Unfortunately the showers turned off after 30 seconds and there was little space in the rooms.

Review 89:Breakfast was pretty good and there was a comfortable mattress.

Review 90:The living environment which made me disappointed. I stayed at Level 2 but no lift available so that I have to pull my heavy luggage stair by stair. And also the breakfast was so bad because got bread and oat and hot milk offered only. Hot food not available!!! And which made me angry was that all guest luggage put inside a small store room and the room was too small to arrange the luggage. We could not get our luggage without stampeding other guest luggage...! What else, the living room was very small and we did not have self locker and cupboard to keep our own stuff....

Review 91:I met lots new friends down here from all over the world. And actually the price was quite cheap in London city area.

Review 92:I think it is absolutely unbelievable that the beds in the 8 bedded dorms are next to each other and there is no space between them. You do not have your own socket next to the bed, the light does not work in the upper beds, my friend found a stain on his pillow. Then the staff should verify the presence of strange persons in the common areas, for example I met a drunk man while I was making dinner and it was not a nice situation.

Review 93:Didn't feel welcome at the hostel, the staff was rather rude at times! In general the facilities were clean. The room was very small but satisfying. Breakfast was very basic, nothing special. I enjoyed having a drink at the bar downstairs! Not quite sure if I would choose this hostel again in the future, rather expensive for the quality of service!

Review 94:The private room we had was a little cold at first.

Review 95:Amazing Building; they sold flip flops when no other shop offered them because it is winter; I lost my key card and the way they replaced it was perfect (perfect service)

Review 96:Good position. Islington is one of the best boroughs in the north side, near the City. Recommended for quick travels to London if You're alone and need cheap accomodation. Very recommended for students and teenagers. Not for couples or lovers.

Review 97:Poor booking system - bed was occupied when I arrived, was then given a different bed. Then woken up late at night when my bed was allocated to another person!

Review 98:Great location, friendly staff, cheap.

Review 99:We stayed in a 4-bed room with 2 other persons. The room was very small and the bunkbeds were next to one another so you end up sleeping just next to a stranger. The showers were a disaster : every shower was leaking heavily so all the water falls on your feet and not on your head.

Review 100:charges for towels whereas in other hostels they are included in the price

Review 101:Friendly staff, clean showers/bathroom, offers free luggage storage, easy to find, value for money with quality facilities

Review 102:Nice location, 10 mins from Kings Cross Station. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Nice bar with good beers and cocktails, with good wifi connection in public areas. Warm rooms and decent showers/toilets. We opted for a private double room. Great facilities for travellers on a budget to cook for themselves. Friendly staff and a safe environment.

Review 103:There is only continetal brekfast. A noisy fan worked all over night very near to my room. Egy hangos szellőzőventillátort zúgott a szobám mellett egész éjszaka.

Review 104:It is walkig distance from the Big Ben and form the University of London. (Közel van a belváros gyalog is)

Review 105:they gave the bed next to me to an old man with metal disorders... this should be common sense for the staff... so the last night I could not even sleep... I went as soon as I could to the airport! I asume that is what you get when you take one of the cheapest rooms...

Review 106:the location was good, the building was beautiful, the common areas were great!

Review 107:Maybe needs a bit more toilets around the bird-nest area.

Review 108:This is my second stay at Clink 78. And i'm still happy with it , dormitory in the bird nest. Obviously noise but nothing ear plugs cannot cope with. Enough showers for everyone. The Staff is very friendly.

Review 109:Noisy, we were next to the bar and could hear people all night. Room was so small we couldnt open our bags out on the floor. Shower didn't work well

Review 110:The staff were so nice and helpful! The toilets and the shower could have been cleaner. The room smelled a bit so me and my Friend had to open the window all the time. But you get what you pay for right? The location was great, the breakfast was alright and It was cheap! I'd stay there again.

Review 111:The location was a little iffy, and there were some sketchy people always hovering outside, but once I was inside the facility I felt safe and catered to!

Review 112:Overall, it was a good value for the money spent. I felt safe, and it was a clean and simple atmosphere.

Review 113:The hostel just appears to be a very very good hostel, but it is not. Definitely NOT. Firstly, the bedrooms are small, and they put much more beds than it could support. About 10 beds in a really small place, everyone leaves their bags and stuff in the middle of the room, so it is difficult to walk, and I didn't see anybody cleaning the room in 1 week. There is NO switch plug in restrooms, so don't bring personal hairdryer, or similars, The restroom's doors are so heavy, they don't fix it and I don't know why. They should fix that because it is really annoying all the times you need to open a door to make an effort as if you were lifting an elephant. And the worst of all: internet only works in commom areas. As they say: how can the "best hostel ever" welcome their guests this way? Internet is very important nowadays. You should try to put some modems, it is not that expensive.

Review 114:The commom area is at least good, the kitchen is complete, with microwave and everything, the breakfast is ok, not goood, but you can eat something and that is all.

Review 115:One thing that I did notice was the slower in the unit had a funny smell, I wa not able to work out were it was coming from

Review 116:Overall we both enjoyed the experience at the Clink

Review 117:Showers are ok but could be a bit cleaner. Kitchen may be overcrouded in evenings.

Review 118:The staff is super friendly and helpful. Large kitchen, several showers with no queues and comfortable beds. Location is absolutely perfect.

Review 119:It says the breakfast is included, but it's just toast, cereal, juice and milk. I can't complain as it's really cheap, but you get bored after the third day lol

Review 120:Very cheap accomodation in London. The place is nice and clean, near King Cross, which was really convenient for me. Good Internet conection in communal areas.

Review 121:They could have dinner, and the wifi shouldn't be available only in the comm areas, we need it in our room sometimes..

Review 122:I enjoyed every single part of my stay at Clink78. The staff's really helpful, the facilities are good as well. Even though I missed my check out, they helped me. I'm gonna stay there again for sure!!

Review 123:The only problem was that the window did not stop the sound well.

Review 124:The staff was great, always ready to help. The room was clean. It was a pleasure staying there.

Review 125:Wifi only works in bar\breakfast area and lobby. Rooms crowded with insufficient baggage space and no large baggage lockers. Too few charging outlets.

Review 126:Bar and ambiance are nice.

Review 127:Dorm rooms are a little cramped, nowhere really to store luggage

Review 128:Clean hostel with great hot showers; breakfast included; close to lots of shops and restaurants and the tube station. Friendly and helpful staff

Review 129:Full of teenagers No alcohol or smoking inside Bad staff Too trendyIT IS NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE DO NOT EXPECT PARTIES AND SEX

Review 130:Its near to kings cross so its easy to get anywhere

Review 131:- the internet didn`t work in the bedrooms - very small rooms with many bunkbeds - not dirty, but not very clean also

Review 132:-great breakfast ( juice, coffee, hot chocolate, big variety of bread; yogurt) - great and well-equipped kitchen - great common area (living room and "dining room" ) -very close to king cross. - good staff

Review 133:It is not allowed to sit on stairs after 10pm, and some staff are not very nice when approaching people to get out of the stairs :S

Review 134:For the price I've paid, it was totally worth it! The place is really nice, in a great localisation (close to St. Pancras station), the crew was very nice. Cleaning was ok, showers were always clean and during the 6 nights I've spent there, even our dorm was cleaned! I do recommend it to travellers :)

Review 135:there weren't enough power outlets in my room, and the doors were terribly noisy (you had to slam them shut)

Review 136:the front-desk staff were nice, and there is a general fun vibe
