Reviews for Hotel De France

Review 1:There's no elevator in the hotel so be prepared if you travel with heavy suitcases.

Review 2:We arrived at the hotel at about 11AM and the staff let us check in right away because our room had already been cleaned. The hotel is well situated, right in front of the train station and about 10 minutes on foot to the old town.

Review 3:Didn't like the first room we were put in but due to a shower malfunction , we were moved to another which I much preferred .Again being British tea and coffee making facilities would be a bonus. Didn't realise Wi fi was available until morning I left and read a notice on the wall.

Review 4:The rooms were clean and comfy , and the owners were very accommodating. Good location and Garage . The building has lovely features of its era so was a nice change to the modern places we had stayed.

Review 5:No floor mat provided in bathroom, no extra pillows.

Review 6:Hairdryer provided in the bathroom, big windows letting lots of light in, quiet area, opposite the station building, large garage for bike storage.

Review 7:The patron and his wife were very helpful this is a typical family French estaminet it's seen better days the bathroom was awkward in layout and the decor tired but for the price we paid it was clean the breakfast was good so can't really complain!!

Review 8:Window frame in bathroom needed attention. The member of staff over breakfast never spoke to anyone-very distant to residends.

Review 9:Location very good and close enough to walk to town centre. Car parking nearby very good and free.

Review 10:For the money it was great. Older decor but pleasant. There is no elevator for those who care

Review 11:The owner/ proprietor and his wife were absolutely wonderful. They went above and beyond to help me get to my next destination in spite of our language barrier (my French is not very good). Also I liked that it is by the train station.

Review 12:The room was rather dark and it would have been depressing to spend a lot of time in it. However, as a base for going out and visiting the town and its ramparts, it was fine. The shower was a little old, but it worked well and the water was hot! Although the hotel manager was very helpful, he tended to be a little omnipresent, which made one feel slightly uncomfortable at times.

Review 13:The location of the hotel was very good. It was 5 minutes' walk away from the town centre. We also appreciated having the hotel garage to park the car in. You need to reserve in advance and it costs 5 euros a night. The garage will only house about 6 cars, however. The hotel manager helpfully supplied a town map and recommended a restaurant. The restaurant in the hotel itself did not seem to be open in October. As it was out of season, the hotel was quiet and we slept well. I don't know what it would be like during the high season, however. We had a room at the back and never heard any trains from the nearby station. Good value for money - you get what you pay for!

Review 14:Although the room was clean, as well as the bathroom, the grout in the shower looked grimy. We were only given one towel each. Initially when we checked in, there were no towels as they were being laundered, but we had to remind them later that we still had no towels.

Review 15:The hotel was very centrally located and despite being on a busy street, the room was quiet. The staff was very accommodating.

Review 16:I stayed for a night at the Hotel de France, arriving at 9pm. I was greeted by a friendly lady. I had my two dogs with me which was no problem. I would certainly stay again.

Review 17:My pillow smelt of sweat. I didn't like the bed blanket & throw which probably aren't washed for every change of client. We wanted to leave early...good job we didn't want breakfast because the guy serving was half asleep. When checking out all the technology was yet to be switched on which caused delay.

Review 18:Basic room, unfortunately not all the lights worked and there was no toilet paper, but when asked these issues were rectified.

Review 19:This Hotel is confidently situated within walking distance to the central part of Dinan. Ideal for a one night stop over. Fair price for the limited facilities on offer.

Review 20:Location of the hotel was excellent, room was very clean and staff extremely friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and recommend to all. Secure parking was a must for touring with motorcycle, again this was faultless.

Review 21:small size of bathroom which is par for the course throughout MOST places in Europe and U.K.

Review 22:Friendly welcome; clean, comfortable room; great location near the station; courteous unobtrusive attention; quiet, peaceful place to be

Review 23:Internet did not reach my room on the top floor and a squeaky door which needs just a bit of oil.

Review 24:Excellent location if you are driving in the area. Quiet and good value.

Review 25:Bit dated & old fashioned but still very clean.

Review 26:Location. Owners very friendly. Garage parking. There was some trouble one night with 2 very drunk French men being noisy & keeping us awake- we were very impressed by the reaction of the owners who dealt with the problem immediately!

Review 27:Nothing !

Review 28:At first glance, the hotel looks a little dated. However, the bedrooms were excellent, clean and airy. The free WiFi was excellent. This is a good hotel in a very good location, not far from the main centre.

Review 29:Breakfast was average.

Review 30:Nice sized rooms with décor that is a bit faded but clean and comfortable. Garage for storing bikes. Good wifi and reasonable value for money.
