Reviews for The Angel Hotel - Relax Innz
Review 1:Nothing all great
Review 2:It was stunning the rooms the breakfast the staff were friendly Amy was very helpful and we will be returning very reasonable price too fantastic
Review 3:there wasn't anything we didn't like
Review 4:on arrival until leaving nothing was too much trouble a lovely welcome breakfast was really good service throughout excellent!!
Review 5:Being an early riser i may have prefered breakfast from 7am.
Review 6:It was exactly as portraid on the website but our room was even bigger than expected. The breakfast was excellent too.
Review 7:Unfortunately the room was too hot heating could not be switched down Eating in the bar area when you are on your own it makes me feel uncomfortable
Review 8:The room was small but great for my needs
Review 9:Parking is limited and very tight. Maybe a deal with the council to park in there car parks and add to room price would be good.
Review 10:The food and breakfast was excellent and room was lovely.
Review 11:The room was quite large, bed was comfortable and bathroom was modern. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the hotel reception, bar and kitchen were all being managed by one person. However we did get quite a good meal in the end after some confusion as to what was available
Review 12:Room 101 had a lovely 4 poster bed that was really comfortable .the room itself was also large with a lovely bathroom .found the staff to be really friendly .would definitely stay there again .
Review 13:Surprised to see that Coleford was in general rather run-down. This was also reflected in the bar area of the Angel Hotel. Nobody new where the Tourist Information was located which I eventually found by chance whilst walking round. It was located in a central location opposite the Co-op but unfortunately closed.
Review 14:Staff for reception , breakfast and cleaning were very helpful and, smiling and efficient. Bar staff were ok but not so socialable. Bedrooms were very good.
Review 15:No bath in the room (had expected one in a 'superior double'), and a bit noisy at night with people coming out of the pub and club next door.
Review 16:Staff and location. Bed was very comfortable too.
Review 17:night club downstairs till 1am. not enough staff to serve customers at bar. being kicked off pool table at 9.45pm in sports bar with3 sons enjoying our selves because the night club was going to start at 11pm???
Review 18:The noise in this hotel was a real issue. They seem to have a nightclub downstairs and the noise was dreadful. not only downstairs noise but noise from a live band opposite the hotel in a pub. so noise came from all 4 corners. This really spoilt the experience. Also the location in the middle of the town centre was bad. Coleford is a very runtown town.
Review 19:The apartment was lovely very nicely decorated and comfortable
Review 20:Ceiling had a leak from above, a few of my thjings got a bit wet. Old building, bound to have a few problems and reception assured me they'd repair by next time I stay.
Review 21:Great location, good staff
Review 22:We were on the first floor looking on to the street ,there is night club next door the noise didn't stop un till gone 3.30 am
Review 23:The room was lovely clean and tidy
Review 24:There was nothing I didn't like - it was all good.
Review 25:I loved the comfort and character of the inn, with its excellent facilities and the attention to detail. The staff were friendly, the food was good and the atmosphere was great - and all at such a good price!
Review 26:Lovely room - 4 poster bed - lovely walk in shower in bathroom . Hair dryer in bathroom with easy access to a mirror !! Room very large & bed very comfortable .
Review 27:The only thing I didn't like was the food we had in the evening this really let them down as the breakfast was excellent
Review 28:Even though it is an old building the rooms are upgraded to a very good standard
Review 29:There's was nothing we felt needed changing.
Review 30:On first glance Coleford itself looks a little in need of some TLC. The Angel from the outside looks nice and fresh and does stand out from all the other buildings. Once inside the pub is clean and inviting and so is the reception area. We were greeted by wonderful staff that were both smart, polite and extremely helpful. On entering the room I was very very impressed, the room was co-ordinated, large!!!, tasteful, with plenty of tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was huge and had both a bath and a shower. The rooms were quiet. The bed was comfortable. The view from our window looked on the the beautiful town centre piece. The food was outstanding, highly recommend the steak sizzler, make sure your very hungry as potions are huge. And the chef is very friendly and helpful too. The domestic staff were outstanding, even left us rolled up towels in the shape of elephants, very nice touch. Breakfast was lovely and plenty to choose from. To be honest the only down side was we did not stay longer. By I am sure we will be back. It's a good place to stay if you want to visit Symmonds Yat and Ross-on-wye without the expensive hotel bill but with extra luxury.
Review 31:Greeting was indifferent, afternoon bar staff were unable to dispense cask ales as all four were not available at 4.30 pm on a saturday!
Review 32:The room was very good
Review 33:A fridge in the room for milk etc.would have been good (hate those milk capsules!), and lack of parking was a bit of an issue.
Review 34:Room was a good size, bed was nice and comfortable. Lovely view from the window. Overall a really nice experience.
Review 35:the wifi was awful, managed to get it about 5 in the morning. And there was one girl on the bar who didn;t smile and when asked several times for ice, ignored me
Review 36:The location right in the town was fabulous, the lady on reception, breakfast and bar was just wonderful and so hard working
Review 37:The room smelt of damp. Their was no welcome pack in the room and couldn't find any staff to ask what time breakfast was. When went for breakfast their was no one around so helped our selves. Someone turned up 15 minutes later and made us a drink. Ate an evening meal their. The cook had no apron on and had beads of sweat running down face. Hair secured with a bow thingy! The meal was ok.
Review 38:The room was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful when you could find them.
Review 39:I was told which cask ales they had on offer I then asked for a pint of Sharps bitter to be told it had just gone. This was followed by a pie of the week that was not available on a Friday night at 6.30pm. Breakfast was a bit stingy 1 rasher of bacon a choice of beans or tomatoes 1 portion of butter with two slices of toast. No fruit or yogurt.
Review 40:The location and room.
Review 41:Lack of imagination with food, very basic. Saucers with tea cups in room. Excess noise from clientelle below.
Review 42:The staff were friendly and professional. The location was perfect
Review 43:For a lovely decorated hotel our room (106) was lovely except for the carpet it was nasty- please change - with lots of dirty marks on it
Review 44:Location good staff very friendly and accommodating when we ordered food
Review 45:The hotel has a night club attached and the room we had was right above this and was extremely noisy until 3 am so not much sleep
Review 46:The room was really nice(pity about the noise) the staff very helpful and friendly and the breakfast very good
Review 47:Unfortunately the taxi collection point for the nightclub / pub was at the front of the hotel directly beneath our window. We were kept awake until 3.30am by lots of drunken voices
Review 48:Nothing, no parking with the hotel but there a car park round the corner for 20p a day or free on weekends so can't complain :)
Review 49:Good location, good bathroom very good power shower, awesome breakfast I has full english and my boyfriend had the American pancakes with bacon was some thing for everyone :) really helpful staff! Thanku!
Review 50:Lack of ventilation, windows difficult to open. Lack of parking although there was plenty within 5 minutes walk.
Review 51:Comfortable room. Great location very close to Clearwell Caverns, Puzzle Wood and Symonds Yat, English side. Good range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants nearby.
Review 52:Lovely little town. Very friendly people. Lovely pub downstairs. Brilliant vale for money and especially with the food! VERY comfortable bed. Perfect night away.
Review 53:At 6.21 am was awoke to a kind of alarm constant pitch lasting over 5 mins. At 6.30 street cleaners vehicle stops outside my window which is on the road side in a traffic que. at 6.45 am same alarm sound again lasting 5 mins. Reception told me it was pipes. When one room has a shower pipes make noises. Also no ventilation available. The sash window is behind a single glazed panel that you have to lift up . Neither window or single glazed panel stay up when pushed up. In fact in the case of a fire I feel I wouldn't have been able to have climbed out. Car park gates locked couldn't get car in after taking customer out for a meal at 10.45pm. When discussing the fact prior to going out i was not told of this fact. Therefore had to park car in Fearhers Car Oark unsecured and walk.
Review 54:Very helpful manager who got me an iron and ironing board to iron my work shirt. Excellent powerful shower in room 106. Brilliant breakfast really nice. Coffee orange juice and cooked English breakfast. Comfy double bed.
Review 55:visiting a sick relative locally I was unable to have breakfast within the times, the manager very kindly cooked my breakfast at 11.30 and nothing was too much trouble
Review 56:Four Poster Bed, staff friendly, breakfast was lovely. The atmosphere was very nice the room was lovely & the bed was excellent! I will stay there again.
Review 57:The lunch we has was very poor, immediately reimbursed, and the butcher over the road from whence the meat came from was castigated by the chef!
Review 58:The location, and the building, a gem. When places such as this have gone we will be a poorer society.
Review 59:The bar was quite unusable. I have never heard a juke box so loud. The din was quite intolerable. My friends and I were obliged to cross the road to the White Hart. where we found the only draught beer undrinkable. Not good impressions of Coleford.
Review 60:Location
Review 61:The toilet were very nosy when flushing and could hear when next door flushed their toilet.
Review 62:The staff were warm and welcoming the rooms were clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. There was also great choice for food. Would recommend to anyone.
Review 63:Plumbing was noisy. Hotel serves as local nightclub and was very noisy outsidewhen it closed at 2am.
Review 64:Room was spacious and comfortable, food was excellent.
Review 65:We seemed to have to wait for service when the place wasn't busy though the servers were all pleasant enough. Just not trained?
Review 66:Nice old fashioned town with a good selection of private shops.
Review 67:A bit nosy, we were kept awake because of the bar music downstairs till 1 am on Friday night.
Review 68:It was close to everything we wanted to see, four poster bed was lush. The room had the best shower in the world, like washing my self inside a tornado. So powerful it actually hurt a little bit :)
Review 69:Room was overlooking main street with a street lamp directly in front of the window.and curtains were inadequate. Bedside lamps did not work
Review 70:That it was for one night only
Review 71:No problem with the hotel itself but when we arrived at 4pm the noise and language from the bar was hostile so much we could not use this facility as it was threatning.
Review 72:Staff not very friendly, room was right next to the busy and noisy main road. Also above the entrance, lots of shouting outside. DJ on until 2am so sleep was almost non existent. Only a couple of car parking spaces and was told to put car in the co-ops car park well away from the hotel. No chance!
Review 73:The hotel was clean and the room was too. Breakfast was very good.
Review 74:The wifi was down but we weren't there for that so didn't really matter to us.
Review 75:The staff were amazing. The Manager Amy is lovely very helpful, the barman Gary very welcoming, the breakfast was amazing!!!! (Especially the mushrooms) The room was clean and the decor impressive. We had an evening meal great value for money. We met the lady chef...I'm sorry forgotten her name but she was great too. They are like 1 big family there. Made our weekend!!
Review 76:People yelling outside after leaving the club/pub early in the morning. There was noise from a pump of some sort in our room that would start up every once in a while (room 204).
Review 77:The room was very comfortable and pleasant. Staff were very helpful.
Review 78:A little noisy with taxi running engine outside and brewery delivery in the morning.
Review 79:Very comfortable bed lovely hot and powerful shower Gorgeous breakfast Value for money Friendly staff
Review 80:The fact that dispute 'no smoking' signs in the room, someone had been smoking prior to my visit. A stale tobaco odour was present. A taxi rank was just under the window! The shouting of revellers late into the evening.
Review 81:the deluxe room size, and standard of the bathroom. The price of the accommodation including a massive breakfast .
Review 82:Nothing
Review 83:Stayed overnight on route to clear water castle for my sisters wedding, the room we had was spacious, very well decorated and with an absolutely wonderful bed. Slept like a baby. The food was great also ESP the breakfast. Would def stay again.
Review 84:Radiator in room not working, thought should have bed made and replenish tea making for a two night stay towels as well.
Review 85:Great large room with four poster bed, large bathroom and shower. Had a meal the two nights we stayed was very good.
Review 86:Noisy bar music until midnight, then noisy people outside - we stayed Saturday night and didn't realise the hotel had a nightclub. Also - we were overcharged when we arrived - it was a bit chaotic with a busy bar - though we did get a refund in the morning.
Review 87:Rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 88:The check in period is ridiculous being from 14.00. We had to get to a wedding in nearby Clearwell starting at 14.00 soi we had to make arrangements on the telephone to check in early. When we got there they did not know anything about that but checked us in anyway. We asked if they could call a cab. We were told that there was only one taxi company and that there were no taxis available. In fact there are several companies operating in the area. We returned after 12.00 and it was all locked up. We had not been told that the room key operates the front door although I did work it out after about 5 minutes. We had no information about breakfast times and just guessed.
Review 89:The room was well decorated well equipped and clean. The price was very reasonable. In the morning there was a beautifully cooked full English breakfast available with fresh tea in the price.
Review 90:Parking was a bit of a problem. The room was very noisy in the early morning because of traffic noise. The breakfast was poor with little choice.
Review 91:The hotel is nicely done out and the rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable and the shower is excellent. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful
Review 92:Hotel is above a rough pub (upon arrival back on one evening, somebody was being carted away in an ambulance and somebody else was being handcuffed by police in the hotel reception). Elsewhere in the same building is a nightclub with music which vibrated through the entire building until gone 2AM, meaning that no sleep was possible until this time.
Review 93:Beautifully presented room. Wooden panels and beams - very spacious and good quality bed. Excellent bathroom - and best hotel shower ever used!
Review 94:The room could have done with having a information book detailing the Hotel facilities, Breakfast Times, WiFi, access times etc
Review 95:The rooms were excellent, very comfortable and clean. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was more than adequate. The Angel Hotel is an ideal location from which o explore the surrounding countryside.
Review 96:You have to remember this is also a pub in the centre of town, so Saturday night noise can be a problem - but that wasn't too intrusive.
Review 97:A 4 poster bed, modern immaculate and spacious shower room, new looking furnishings and a beautifully presented room - wonderful! Cooked breakfast was perfect too.
Review 98:It was a little noisy on the Friday night, but in fairness we knew this before we booked by reading the reviews. Room wasn't serviced on the second day, but again not a big problem, we don't mind making our own beds. It might be an idea to have breakfast menus on tables.
Review 99:We booked the family from. It was lovely and clean, comfy four poster bed, separate bedroom with two single beds was a bonus! Central location for Forest of Dean walks etc. Good breakfast, definitely good value for money! We will return soon.
Review 100:The car park was dirty. The room smelled of paint. The radiator was red hot all night with no means of turning it off. Had to open the window but the noise fom the street was so annoying went on 'til 3 o'clock am. Hardly slept.
Review 101:The room had just been re-furbished. The bathroom was modern and the shower was good, except the entry was very narrow. The breakfast was very good, and the dining room spacious.
Review 102:Not somewhere if you are looking for a lot to do in the town as quite limiting but so close to Symonds Yat that didn't really matter
Review 103:bedroom was excellent a stunning place to stay. Facilities and breakfast were also very good, people friendly and helpful and great value for money
Review 104:Manager was very stressed when I arrived, however did apologise later. room was really stuffy as hot weekend and had no fan/air con. so I was torn between being too hot but quieter or having the door open and being disturbed by street noise and drunks
Review 105:Big comfortable bed staff friendly lovely bathroom
Review 106:The Hotel has no parking. We were fortunate as we stayed on a Saturday night when the public parking restrictions are relaxed
Review 107:The room had original features and the breakfast was very good
Review 108:People kind of just stared at us in the pub cause they knew we weren't from the forest...
Review 109:The hotel is above a pub/night club that everyone from the village appears to go to. We stayed on a Saturday night, where the resident DJ played songs till midnight in the pub. Then as the clock struck 12, the DJ, all of the bar staff and all of the customers moved upstairs to a night club called Magnums! We got free entry as we were staying in the hotel. Bizarrely, the lady at te hotel reception desk who have us our room keys, is also the same lady on the door I the nightclub stamping everyone's hands! It was a unique night I say the least in the small forest town of Coleford, and one which I'll gladly have again! Also, upgrading to a deluxe room is well worth it as the four poster bed comes with 2 mattresses! Breakfast is included and it's a full English! A great place to stay if you want to go cycling in the Forest of Dean as it's a short taxi/drive away from Pedal A Bike Away. Close to Lydney train station too.
Review 110:The room was lovely. The staff were very helpful in fact a very enjoyable stay
Review 111:Excellent rooms, staff, food and great music!
Review 112:Nothing to not like
Review 113:Lovely hotel, staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent
Review 114:Comfortable and friendly and perfect location
Review 115:The room was very impressive. Staff friendly and helpful. Great hotel. Would stay here again.
Review 116:Room newly decorated except for carpet, which was stained. Pity.
Review 117:Fried bread with the Full English!
Review 118:I stayed in this hotel the night before my wedding, the staff were very kind and let me have a late checkout for no extra charge.
Review 119:There was no one on reception when booking out. Also the price is s bit high for what you get.
Review 120:only think was it been nice if there was a late cheak out and also i room door was broke to
Review 121:rooms was nice and clean and the breakfast was lovly
Review 122:No / limited parking on site
Review 123:Location Very friendly staff Enjoyable meal although limited choice
Review 124:Limited car parking on site. Shower temperature could be hotter.
Review 125:Good size bedroom and bathroom. Food choice reasonable and well priced.
Review 126:Very friendly -- homely feel -- staff were really nice people. The bed was extremely comfortable -- better than ours at home.
Review 127:Nothing we didnt like
Review 128:We booked the four poster bedroom and it was excellent very clean and spacious food was also excellent
Review 129:The service behind the bar couldn't get served no staff about
Review 130:The room
Review 131:Lovely room, good pub atmosphere and food.
Review 132:The car park was a bit small.
Review 133:Lovely stay, we had a wedding to go to so we were allowed to check in earlier.
