Reviews for The White Hart Hotel

Review 1:Rooms could do with an update as looked aged, however very comfortable and homely.

Review 2:We chose this hotel because it was pet friendly without any extra charge. Relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff with great food for very reasonable prices.

Review 3:In the bedroom was an additional single bed, which quite frankly needs to be dumped, it was extremely noisy, uncomfortable and unusable, I Shared the king size with my sister instead, it would be useful for the bathroom to have a shelf

Review 4:Lovely small friendly village pub, lovely food, very big bedroom with an annex room off it

Review 5:The rooms need some TLC. It wouldn't cost much to give them a lick of paint, grout round the bathroom tiles and refix towel rails etc to the walls. The rooms have damp patches on walls which need to be sorted. Then it would be perfect :-)

Review 6:The location of the pub and the pub itself are great.

Review 7:Room was very basic and missing basic essentials (no shelves, lock or towel rail in bathroom. Child size towels). Lower bunk bed had 2 slats broken which we reported but no alternative made.

Review 8:Staff were friendly and attentive.

Review 9:Room was out dated and old. Shower was mouldy and needed cleaning and wasn't particularly good. Door to our room was ill fitted and very difficult to open. Door to bathroom Didn't shut at all. Kids said bunk bed felt unstable.

Review 10:Service was good. Friendly staff, nice food.

Review 11:Our only complaint was the mattress. Ooh it was uncomfortable. I woke up with spring indentations all over me!

Review 12:The service in the pub hotel was excellent. They were incredibly friendly and very helpful.

Review 13:Cannot really say only that the floorboards were really creaky in the bathroom. Would suggest travelers to just put Menheniot on their GPS and follow Lower Clicker road all the way and until you find the hotel

Review 14:Location and parking for the car. We had a family room which was of a good size. Staff and management were both helpful and friendly

Review 15:A bit slap dash service only had fruit juice one morning the rest they forgot to ask also only had side plates one day for our toast. The carpet needed a good brush round edge in room.Lots could be done to make it better.

Review 16:The staff were friendly and food good

Review 17:This is really an "Inn" which is what it actually is -not "hotel" - there are no facilities and I couldn't see any disabled access as the stairs are very narrow and steep to the rooms. The rooms are very basic and so is the bed linen - I really did not like the close proximity to the back of the houses from my room - certainly not great to see other people in their bedrooms or loo!

Review 18:Staff couldn't do enough - friendly, fast, super efficient - superb ! Faultless thank you ladies very much !

Review 19:Very tired looking outside with the plants etc not cared for and garden furniture scattered about and also when arriving we were just shown the room and left with no information on how to get out in the morning without setting off alarms but these are only minor points

Review 20:Very comfortable bed and a decent well priced breakfast though only an hours window to take it. Extremely good value and if in the area certainly worth booking a room here

Review 21:There was nothing really, room was above the hotel bar and restaurant, so as expected could hear faint music, bar noise until closing time, no surprise really and actually quite relaxing.

Review 22:Food was excellent and very good price. Room was warm, very well decorated and very clean also really comfy. Breakfast was very good and prompt, but having eaten so well here the previous evening I only went for the light option!

Review 23:Lack of basics. No heating in en-suite. No extractor fan.! Room window did not operate properly. The toilet flush was not presented correctly; no button on the push down. No phone in the room. Room not cleared of cobwebs in corners. Carpet looked grubby.

Review 24:Not much.

Review 25:Couple of minor problems. Broken towel rail and very noisy shower.

Review 26:Here for a funeral, the staff accommodated early check in and were very helpful with taxis etc.

Review 27:The bed was really uncomfortable, the noise from the bar was really loud, which isn't great when you have kids, the breakfast served only until 9am is a tad early when you are on holiday and the parking on site is not really as it seems .. I didn't mind parking down the road but some may. All in all it wasn't a bad stay but we wouldn't go back.

Review 28:The staff were very nice, breakfast was good and we ate there on the first evening which was lovely. The location was in a very nice village.

Review 29:As previously stated WiFi cover was patchy throughout this establishment and absent in our room They had run out of the only 2 drinkable keg beers and also of gas driving the soft drink dispenser Not a good advert for popular pub.

Review 30:Was not clear online on breakfasts. Whether or not it was included. Not until we received conformation that it was room only. When booking our stay it stated breakfast but not evening meals including.

Review 31:noise as above bar but we did sleep eventually.

Review 32:the pub was very traditional and was excellent base to explore. only 1hour from Port Issac and 40 mins from Eden Project. very friendly staff and breakfast was excellent. family room we had was spacious with large shower room and separate room with.bunks for boys but it wad over bar so was noisy until 11pm as locals were very noisy. room 3 should be avoided.unless you are up anyway.but if you ask for another room they will try to help. we are returning next year and have been promised larger room above kitchen which is quieter. susie and her staff were more than helpful and it was nice to stay in a place with true character. furnishing in room nice and had fresh towels every two days. nothing too much trouble.

Review 33:Nothing not to like....

Review 34:The staff and the locals were very friendly, the food was exceptional.... especially the steak. can not wait to revisit this hotel again with my family

Review 35:Ambiguity of wording about whether or not breakfast was included in the tariff. The amount we paid was at the higher of charges we have paid over the last three months for B and B. A little high for what was provided in our opinion. Shower ran hot and cold,

Review 36:Evening mea wasl well cooked, plentiful and good value.

Review 37:good clean accommodation with a good breakfast and friendly staff

Review 38:Nothing

Review 39:The staff and the general feeling about the place, relaxing and inviting atmospere

Review 40:The atmosphere and the friendliness

Review 41:Overpriced

Review 42:When we arrived we was told that the owners was away on holiday the staff that was there was very friendly

Review 43:Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable bed, bath. I arrived on a bicycle and staff were more than accommodating with regards to keeping it secure.

Review 44:Very comfortable room, however, bathroom needs updating.

Review 45:nice friendly pub had a nicemeal in

Review 46:The staff were great

Review 47:Friendliness of staff and were it was.food was great couldn.t wish for anything else

Review 48:NOTHING TOO MUCH TROUBLE

Review 49:Village location, friendly pub. Had evening meal which was very good. Only stayed one night , but would stay again.

Review 50:Minor thing but shower leaked a bit and was deafeningly loud!

Review 51:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 52:It is a really nice place to stay close to Looe where we wanted to be, very clean, good food, nice helpful staff.

Review 53:Childrens' mattresses were on the lumpy side.

Review 54:Staff, food and general atmosphere of the pub. Nice large room with clean bedding and towels.

Review 55:The staff were very friendly & extremely helpful breakfast was good although not included in price room was clean & comfy.

Review 56:Damp smell

Review 57:Friendly service

Review 58:Bathroom needs a good clean. Shower hit and miss sometimes scalding the next time freezing! Not value for money with breakfast extra.

Review 59:Everything about the hotel va

Review 60:Shower temperamental

Review 61:Staff very friendly and excellent beer & food

Review 62:Great people, great food and great value!

Review 63:Friendly service Excellent food

Review 64:Poor dinner on our second night - dry and overcooked. WiFi was virtually non existent in our room and in some parts of the bar.

Review 65:Excellent breakfasts

Review 66:Very friendly helpful staff Excellent breakfast Bar downstairs with live music Very friendly local community

Review 67:bathroom quality, particularly shower

Review 68:low cost, convenient location.

Review 69:was able to take our pet dog along to stay to.

Review 70:Would have liked some fresh fish on the menu

Review 71:Really friendly and helpful staff, a great location for days out.

Review 72:No observation to raise, a good country pub.

Review 73:Friendly atmosphere and good country style service.

Review 74:Good place to stay for North Cornwall, food was lovely and staff friendly and helpful

Review 75:No tooth mugs. No coat hangers. No paper handkerchiefs.

Review 76:In general, the stay was very good.

Review 77:Very little, couldn't really fault it

Review 78:It was brilliant. We were surprised at the size of the room, very large, very comfortable, with large ensuite. Staff couldn't do enough to help us. We were very impressed, wished we'd booked for longer. I can't recommend the White Hart highly enough and will recommend it to anyone I know who's in the area.

Review 79:Despite ringing the ‘hotel’ the day before arrival to organise leaving our luggage at the hotel at 14.00 (not an unreasonable time of day) the rooms we were allocated were locked and no one was around to help. If we had not seen the hotel owner’s young daughter in the car park with her friends we would not have been able to get in. On arriving back at the 'hotel' at 11.45 there was a lock down going on in the pub and a young child was running about a screaming in the corridor downstairs until 01.15 in the morning. There was no info’ in the rooms about Wi-Fi access and no one around to ask, on the two occasions we went downstairs. The rooms were relatively clean and comfortable but they were rather worn. It was hot (due to the weather) and on opening the window for some fresh air, the room filled with flies due to nearby bins downstairs. There was a loud background hum most of the night. The Loo seat was broken, as was the towel rail in the bathroom. The shelf was sloping above the sink so everything fell off it. The shower was dirty on arrival with stained grouting and hairs on the glass door. Yuck. The hook on the door was also broken. Need I go on? This place had the air of somewhere that is struggling to keep up appearances and is a pub with rooms NOT a hotel. The girl that was around in the morning was very helpful but the breakfast was mediocre. I won’t come back. It wasn't expensive but neither was it good.

Review 80:The hotel was well placed for a church wedding as it was right opposite

Review 81:Breakfasts were very good but evening meals mediocre towels and toiletries inadequate, clean enough but not pristine.we had stayed at a similar establishment night before, which was far superior.

Review 82:It was a convenient location, but rather than hotel,it should read pub with rooms that offers food.

Review 83:Everything was fine.

Review 84:This is your usual pub hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are very large. It is good value for money. The owners are very friendly and we had a lovely time in the pub with the locals. It is a good place to spend the odd night on your visit around Cornwall.

Review 85:Never been offered juice OR cereal at breakfast. If doing food a pub should expect to offer coffee after a meal and not provide really dreadful instant coffee. Every time we walked into the pub, we had to run the gauntlet of smokers clustered round the door. Always unwelcoming even when the landlady was one of them - if it was her, she didn't bother to speak to us! In fact staff were quite off hand and didn't always want to stop gossiping about the other guests to serve us at the bar. Also, a bank holiday weekend seems an odd time to have the Lino replaced on the floors. A very loud accompaniment to breakfast and when the guy said he had been working till 3 the previous morning, I believe him, because I heard it myself. Parking is limited and because of the narrow Cornish roads, hard to find in the village generally. There are lots of places to stay in Cornwall and next time we go we'll stay somewhere else.

Review 86:Room large and comfortable - we were put in a family room not a double. It was basically clean although there was a lot of dust. The bed was very comfortable and we got a good night's sleep in spite of the hammering in the early hours. Food was OK.

Review 87:We had to wait ages for hot water. the first morning we didn't realise this, we were going to a wedding and 2 out of 4 of us had to have a cold showers.

Review 88:We liked the location and it was a nice pub. our room was spacious and comfy the breakfast was lovely

Review 89:The only downfall to our stay was that our hot water stopped working for a while, but that is it!

Review 90:The staff behind the bar were extremely friendly and helpful. The room my boyfriend and I stayed in was wonderful, with a nicely sized bathroom. The location was quiet but in a good way (as we wanted some peace)

Review 91:pleasant quiet stay, room clean, breakfast fresh and as much as you want. As OS travellers, it was our base for exploring the surrounding area over several days.

Review 92:They could have done with organising there staff properly, didn't have an evening meal till 7.30 because lack of staff, breakfast was supposed to open at 8.30 but no-one was there to open we had to bang on the door to get someone's attention. Kids unfortunately don't understand waiting for food. Plus could have done with the staff to clean the tables from the night before my little lads chicken and noodles where still on the table and floor area! Apart from that the staff that did turn up we're very friendly and helpful ;-)

Review 93:It's located In a nice quiet village not to far from the seaside.

Review 94:Set in a lovely little village. The pub downstairs seems to be quite the local hub. Rooms are well appointed, spacious, and comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Review 95:Squeaky single bed in family room & the curtain pole in the adjoining room (with bunk beds) had fallen off the wall & was fixed even though we reported it upon arival

Review 96:Friendly staff, good breakfast & decent beer!

Review 97:I mainly stayed there to visit the Eden Project: it was a convenient stop off the A38. The hotel was homely and comfortable; staff were very helpful, and it was good value.

Review 98:View from room window could have benn better, but it wouldn't detract us from going again

Review 99:Nice spacious room ample portions of food, lovely surroundings, helpful staff and the price for our stay was more than reasonable

Review 100:It was a friendly, home-from-home hotel where all the staff went theextra mile to be helpful. Beds comfortable, great breakfast, large carpark and village store next door. What more could you want!

Review 101:Some may find the noise from the bar a bit loud on a busy evening, but closing time is 11pm! Nothing to not like really.

Review 102:The staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful, especially as we arrived quite late after 5 1/2 hours in the car with 2 children! The location is in the center of the village; The Hotel itself was nice and busy, unlike those in some small villages we've been to - overall, well worth going to and would recommend. The road is almost silent at night - bliss; even the clock tower chimed quietly! Lovely place. Fab breakfast too!

Review 103:Staff very friendly and exceedingly helpful and could not do enough for you. Room very comfortable and facilities suited us Food was excellent in fact more than adequate. Would and have recommended this accommodation

Review 104:The food was hit and miss. I had the lamb shank beautiful, my husband and Daughter who is a vegetarian had meals that were not really nice.

Review 105:Ambience, cost and location, staff lovely. Staff could not do enough for you and very clean.

Review 106:Heating in room turned off during the day. Only one bath and one hand towel for two people. Needed mugs in the room.

Review 107:Lovely food in restaurant. Good breakfast and friendly staff.

Review 108:Narrow roads to get into and out of the village !

Review 109:Comfortable; very obliging and friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Reasonably convenient for STERTS theatre.

Review 110:room above bar and nect to main street. Noisy smokers outside window. Very noisy traffic from 6.15 am for about 30 minutes

Review 111:Easy access to South coast - Looe, Polperro, etc

Review 112:Very accommodating when we asked if we could have single beds, in fact we were allowed to have a family room one night and a double and a single the second.

Review 113:Checking in at the lounge bar was a nightmare, we were insulted by whatappeared to be a local sitting at the bar, who seemed very annoyed thatwe were there, waiting to check in. He told my wife, twice, with a nastyglare, that if we had any sense, we'd move out of the way. Eventually, the barman took us to what was supposed to be our room, but he did'nthave the key and left us to get it. A woman, who we took to be the ownercame next, saying our room was not ready. My wife told her about theincident in the lounge, she made no comment, could see we were nothappy, we were then shown to a room at the back and told we'd be stayingthere. The room was dark and gloomy, patches of plaster had come awayfrom the ceiling , the kettle leaked, the carpet was stained and not anice outlook from the window We were not given fresh towels for oursecond morning, we had to ask for them

Review 114:The location was nice, good breakfast.

Review 115:Not the hotels fault but were disturbed by drunken prats in next room who left tv on and snored through it all.

Review 116:A very nice place to stay with friendly staff and great rooms. Good breakfast which is always a bonus.

Review 117:Rooms very poor with very low budget and uncomfortable bed, walls sothin that you will be kept awake all night from the snoring fromadjacent rooms, could not get the shower to work. I found Cornwall to benot very friendly, having moved onto Devon and Somerset afterwards wherethe welcome is far more friendly. I certainly would not stay there again

Review 118:Food and Drinks Good

Review 119:Where to begin? The carpets were dirty. The bedlinen had lipstick on it ( I don't wear any!) the room was cold and the radiators turned off. The curtains didnt meet - letting light in and waking me as Dawn broke. The bedding was thin and the pillows lacked any guts. The full english was passable but no options to omit or add items. No black pudding, no bread and butter. Small pot of tea. Dry mushrooms. Undercooked tomatoes and toast came 5 minutes after I'd finished. It's a shame when this is an opportunity for hotels to really shine and expose their guests to local produce. As I was the only person at breakfast that morning it should have been easy to get it right or even make a bit of extra effort but after a cold night in a thinly covered bed I was left feeling that I'd got exactly what I paid for!!! Bargain prices mean cut backs elsewhere.

Review 120:The price was the only saving grace.

Review 121:Historic setting. Area. Staff
