Reviews for Premier Inn London Docklands ExCel
Review 1:We had asked if there was a shuttle service from London City Airport since it is so close. We never heard back from the hotel on this matter. Our room was very loud; the DLR ran all night outside our window.
Review 2:Proximity to LCY. The morning desk clerk was helpful with travel information. Beds were very comfortable. Did not have breakfast there, so we can't comment on that.
Review 3:1,Didn't like having to pay to park throughout the day £12 per day. (Ouch) 2, would have been nice to be offered omelette poached eggs.,at breakfast time , also staff serving breakfast one in particular behind the breakfast catering island, she was moody stroppy and kept taking spatulas and spoons of the public to lay them down in uniform order even if you were using it 3,seating as a disabled person I was crammed to the edge of restaurant 4,evening, meal was basic and expensive for what we got 5, Reported air con noisy and broken Not fixed or even looked at on our return then I had to chase up the problem on my return and then ask and look for fans as the room was far too warm and stuffy once sorted we were comfortable,
Review 4:Likes the cleanliness of the hotel and the comforts breakfast was excellent
Review 5:Noisy guests in room above for most of night. Alarm in middle of night from pub opposite.
Review 6:The staff were superb. Only problem was that they couldn't stop noisy guests in the room above making noise for most of the night.
Review 7:The Car parking is £ 12.00 / day. This was not clear on the booking form or any of the descriptions.
Review 8:The staff where both very helpful and friendly.
Review 9:The only down side is the noise isolation between floors unless i`ve had elephants walking above my room! But that is a pure structural matter everything else was great!
Review 10:Staff at the reception especially Tom were so nice and helpful its unbelievable. In the morning headed down to have our breakfast and we were greeted by this Italian man called Francesco with the biggest smile on his face. His attitude and behavior was so nice and made us all so comfortable that i will definitely be coming back. Defo good value for money! Thank you all team
Review 11:Food and snacks can only be ordered from the hotel restaurant which has specific opening times. Otherwise you have to order food from outside or from the hotel vending machines in the lobby.
Review 12:The room was very clean and comfortable. Restaurant food was average. That said, generally the hotel was good for what we had paid for and based on this, quite satisfied with our stay.
Review 13:Bad sleep both nights due to a hot room, a non opening window and aircon which was very weak and too noisy to leave on anyway. Also showergel was empty, which we reported to reception but it didn't get refilled during our stay
Review 14:Location good and staff friendly
Review 15:We were put in the quiet section of the hotel, that was lovely tho the family that had been put above us obviously had a Hurd of elephants with them, that continued to run around until 1:30 in the morning. Now as I realise it is not the hotels problem on how families behave, I do feel it was a bad decision of the hotel to have put such a family in that corridor.
Review 16:We loved the friendly family atmosphere. The room was very clean and comfortable. And very quite from the outside eliminates.
Review 17:Bar closed early at 11pm when travelling back late from London Central we just wanted a drink or two, all 3 vending machines where out of order also so couldnt even get a drink from there?
Review 18:Staff very friendly, very clean and great location.
Review 19:Air con needs addressing and bookings need to stop advertising larger quadruple rooms as all rooms in hotel are the same size!! rooms in quiet zone facing DLR are not quiet until midnight and only until 5am
Review 20:Excellent staff friendly and knowledgeable of area
Review 21:Not much to not like to be honest. NYE we did have disturbed sleep due to another person singing and shouting early hours of the morning - but it was NYE and not the fault of Premier Inn.
Review 22:The staff were great. We needed ironing faciliates and rang reception. They bought the iron up straight away. The shower was great - really powerful, which we didn't expect from a Premier Inn. Our stay was very comfortable.
Review 23:Car parking meter broke so was a bit of a nightmare sorting that when going to 02 for a certain time. Reception did not really help.
Review 24:Female bar staff was very friendly towards all customers and especially good with the children. Meals were excellent, especially children's meals. Lovely breakfast, all fresh and changed regularly.
Review 25:The car parking charge £12 a day think this should be included in the price of the room
Review 26:The staff are very helpful and pleasant rooms are comfortable and warm. And you do not hear the airplanes as much as you think that you would. So all in all very good
Review 27:Room was far too hot, staff were very helpful though.
Review 28:Location brilliant for an easy travel into central London on the dlr with step free access which is a bonus when using a pushchair
Review 29:Paying for parking but that's because it's not owned by Premier Inn
Review 30:Don't let the exterior fool you! Very clean hotel, friendly helpful staff, walking distance to the DLR which is easy to get in to London central and the O2 arena
Review 31:When we booked it said it wasn't far from 02 but it was a fair way and needed transport so didn't find it that easy to travel to 02 from hotel so had to pay for taxis as had young children
Review 32:That the hotel was very clean comfortable and staff was lovely
Review 33:Room size is too small Location is a bit out of city center but good connection by DLR
Review 34:Excellent staff right from reception till breakfast (guy called as fransesco in particular who was extremely friendly plus funny and helpful) Good connection to city by DLR. Close to London Excel
Review 35:This was my second visit and I will return again soon! Then hotel is accessible, welcoming, clean and quiet for a good night's sleep. The food is good; breakfast and dinner. Pleasant and helpful staff available 24 hours a day.
Review 36:The room smelt of damp as we walked in Windows couldn't be opened when you both had a shower the whole bathroom was wet makinf the floor dangerous to walk on. Staff as we came in were more interested in chatting, one guy was bursting out of his shirt and scruffy.
Review 37:Staff in the dining room were really nice and welcoming
Review 38:Could use new paint here and there, location near metro is fine, but surroundings are industrial
Review 39:Friendly staff, decent room, nice bed. Handy when you come via City Airport
Review 40:Absolutely nothing. Premier Inn are fantastic value for money and you always know what you're getting.
Review 41:A close walk from prince regent's DLR and fast access to canning town the location is not as far from London's attractions as first thought
Review 42:Silly car parking meters that need to be paid for before 09:30 each day. Restaurant staff (host) very slow and restaurant was full, so guests of the hotel couldn't eat. Rooms were too warm despite turning thermometer all the way down.
Review 43:Location was good. Close to London but far enough away that parking was easy. Comfortable beds.
Review 44:The bath was extremely high making it virtually impossible to use being elderly, and there was no safety bath mat.. The attitude of the chief waiter in the restaurant was rather rude and the service very slow. (No issue with breakfasts).
Review 45:Clean hotel & friendly staff. Using the DLR and tube trains made it effortless to get to the centre of London.
Review 46:There was no pool. But if they built one they would never be empty and I'd never be able to get a room
Review 47:Enjoyed the food the staff went the extra mile always happy felt safe and they treated us like friends The room was ample and beds comfort was exceptional
Review 48:Perfect for meetings at the ADNEC (aka Excel Exhibition centre. It is a very short walking distance to the Excel Centre even on a dreary and wet December London day.
Review 49:I didn't like the area of where the hotel was. I would come to London and stay at a premier inn again, just not at this location
Review 50:The staff were so friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and we had everything we needed.
Review 51:The entire staff at this Hotel are extremely helpful. I needed to get to another Hotel in Beckton and the receptionist gave me her own Osyter Card to use.
Review 52:This premier inn is well used and is a bit worn out. Ground floor room 6 which we used had locked closed windows and a poor air-conditioning unit .There was lots of condensation on the windows in the morning.
Review 53:helpful and pleasant staff. Room clean and tidy.
Review 54:Not so much a bad experience more a observation on the heating in the room. It did seem very stuffy and not much fresh air was available via the window even though it was left open. We noted a fan in the room along with air con but neither seemed to make much difference. It is a pity the window could not be opened any wider but we suspect Health and safety dictate maximum opening range? Also we overheard some other guests noting how warm their room was. Is this something common to Premier Inns we wonder?
Review 55:The best points were excellent restaurant for both breakfast and evening meal The latter provided excellent choice and the latter was good value with the offer price given to use.
Review 56:The room was extremely hot and the beds were hard and uncomfortable. I asked several times about the heat and to see if I could get a mattress topper but neither requests were done. As the hotel is quite far from London, it would be nice if there was a convience store within walking distance. An airport shuttle would be helpful too as a taxi ride can be around $150 pounds.
Review 57:The staff were extremely friendly.
Review 58:This is not a 'bad' experience but the room was very hot and the air con did not seem to make a dent in it. There was a fan but this just moved the hot air around. Because I was travelling with an adult son I required a twin room. However I was given a family room which meant I had to sleep on a sofa bed which was not particularly comfortable and I would have had to pay for this. Not conducive to a good night's sleep.
Review 59:The food was exemplary. The staff were very helpful and polite. The hotel was very clean. I had a room on the 6th floor which was quiet.
Review 60:Watch the breakfast offer, it turned out it only included one free breakfast when we had booked three people so we ended up paying more than advertised
Review 61:Great staff and reasonable food
Review 62:The double bed was very uncomfortable compared to some other Premier Inns.
Review 63:Lovely restaurant and bar. Great location for the O2. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 64:Foods for breakfast were good but choices were limited and the same every day.
Review 65:Walking distance to ExCel London and the room where we stayed was clean and well-maintained.
Review 66:I'm being really picky here but the Ben & jerry's machine was out of order which the kids were a little gutted about because it was working when we stayed last year...... I realise I'm being picky :-/
Review 67:Lovely breakfast......... Comfortable beds, overall good hotel
Review 68:People were kicked out even though they were adhering to the terms and conditions of 2 adults and 2 children max for a 4 person room. We booked a 4 person room and had 3 people stay (one couldn't make it) and so had 2 adults and 1 child. We were clearly in the right but had our room checked at 10:45 on Friday night, well after the 10pm 'quiet' hours. Our minor was 15 so still considered a child but the man doing the room inspection asked her to stand up as if she were at a prisoner camp, to which his response was 'You don't look 15' and would be back at 11pm to check again. No-one showed up until 12:10am and it was a different guy. He said that the previous man that checked had told him there were 2 guys and 2 girls in the room and 'a man with a beard'. Firstly, there was only 1 guy (me) and 2 girls. Second, I'm 'the man with the beard'!! I booked the room and it's in my name! We complained that night about having our room checked at unsocial hours to which the manager said that they would not refund the night because our room was suspicious despite it being the hotel chain's policy to offer a refund for the night of disturbed sleep. I'm not disputing the rules and regulations or the room inspections but the manner in which they were carried out. Very unprofessional and we're never staying there again!
Review 69:The location and company in the room.
Review 70:We had dinner before going to the O2 for a concert to save queuing at the venue. Unfortunately it was really disappointing. My brother had a steak with chips, and was quite happy with that, but my pizza was tasteless, and I just couldn't eat it all, despite being quite hungry. So, I wouldn't recommend dinner there. Also, the toiletries in the room had almost run out; could have been more generous there.
Review 71:All the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was plentiful (we ate at around 7.30am). The room was basic but clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The location is convenient for the O2 via the Emirates Air or DLR.
Review 72:Didn't like you couldn't have lunch as kitchen only open for breakfast and evening meal.
Review 73:The location was great...the staff were all very polite and friendly a lovely two night stay.
Review 74:Bit annoying that some guests there who had been to the excell weekend exhibition chose to bring massive cases to breakfast!! Staff were very accomodating but you could see they didnt think it was ideal.
Review 75:Really happy helpful and professional staff. Clean and everything you required in the room. Great breakfast. Smooth booking in.
Review 76:Parking expensive, had to pay every day, one charge would be better. Price inflated fir stsy because it was half term . Will prob be half the price next week.
Review 77:Friendly staff. Comfortable room. Good food.
Review 78:We stayed for 3 nights. And not once we're our room cups or glasses cleaned or replaced. The bathroom floor in room 328 is collapsing. And the bath plug doesnt drain away because it was so clogged up. The king size bed was incredibly creaky. And one of the twin beds was very uncomfortable.
Review 79:All the staff were fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. Especially towards my 2 year old.
Review 80:WiFi could be a bit faster (you can upgrade for money though)
Review 81:One of the best offers for people who have to work in some exhibition in ExCel London; otherwise city centre is accessible via metro in reasonable time. Very, very polite staff, good food, nice and clean rooms.
Review 82:not being able to charge food/drinks from the bar to my room, lack flexibility/understanding of staff when it came to ordering food from bar, bed wasn't as comfortable as advertised
Review 83:location
Review 84:The food was great and the greatest surprise between 18.00- 20.00 two drinks at the bar for the price of one,and Francesco (manager at breakfast is always so funny and staff on reception alway very kind and polite/John
Review 85:The price was so Un-Premier Inn, ouch.
Review 86:Staff fanastic as always at Premier Inn. The two for one happy hour was a great idea. Breakfast good, even tried the new Purple sauce which was good, Dinner good. Clean. Perfect Premier Inn, great location for the O2, Excel and the Docklands.
Review 87:I did not like the room I was put in at all. The first night was horrible as the ac was not working. We reported to the receptionist and they will not come up to see if we were doing anything wrong. Another visitor to our room helped us to sort it. The room was not modern at all. Bathroom was small and making a lot of steam and we culd not open the door to avoid setting off the alarm. I could go on and on
Review 88:The location was great. One of the staff at the restaurant was really good
Review 89:Noisy due to location near train/rail transit. Mediocre meal at the hotel restaurant.
Review 90:Convenient location by near rail transit. 10 min can ride to London City Airport.
Review 91:Air conditioning did not work and it was warm. Could not sleep well. Had to change room next morning. Its too expensive for a basic, no-frills property.
Review 92:Location is convenient for Excel conference centre.
Review 93:A lot of transmitted noise through ceiling - maybe just heavy footed fellow guests!
Review 94:Excellent access to Excel and on site parking. Clean comfortable room.
Review 95:Metro runs too close and the noise ( minimal) sometimes bothers you.
Review 96:Very helpful staff. Very close to Excel Center - great location to attend a conference at the Excel Center. London metro station just 8 mins walk.
Review 97:The room was clean, spacious and comfortable for an overnight stay. I also used the restaurant where the food was plain but very good value for money.
Review 98:At check in we had a problem as their computer system had married up the first name of one person with the second name of another so could not find us. Most of us were bitten by bed-bugs. However we did not complain so did not give them a chance to remedy the problem.
Review 99:The location to the EXcel and to the station.
Review 100:The location is far from the city.
Review 101:Location of the hotel is just 5 mins walk to ExcelLondon. I had a conference at Excel and staying at Primer Inn was very convenient. The free internet wifi was awesome.
Review 102:spent ages googling restaurants in area as did not realise you had one - not a dislike as used it for evening and breakfast - both meals excellent - just think you should make this facility more obvious.
Review 103:Location excellent for O2 as emirates cable car just there. and DLR easy to use for the centre.
Review 104:Couldn't really check in before 5:30 unless we wanted to pay to park before that time. Wanted to check in at 2 but didn't want to pay.
Review 105:Excellent location
Review 106:Great breakfast, very comfortable room. Relatively quiet, had a couple of elephants upstairs but they quietened down eventually.Overall really good, 5 min walk to DLR station, perfect for cable car, o2 visit.
Review 107:The hotel was absolutely spotless, the room was a great size, great value for money..and most importantly the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful!
Review 108:Difficulty in finding one's way in and out of the area by car owing to inadequate signage. Also unwelcome not to have free parking within the price structure, which was not cheap.
Review 109:Facilities and accommodation fine for our purposes and staff very helpful.
Review 110:Great hotel with really helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast is the usual Premier inn standard with lots of choice to suit all tastes. You can enjoy some of Francesco's comedy snapshots while you dine. The hotel is only 5 mins walk from the DLR which will take you to central London in 20 mins or so. We would definitely stay here again
Review 111:The staff were really helpful and accommodating when we arrived a little early they found us a room straight away. We were going to a wedding so needed to get changed and leave promptly. The receptionists could not have been nicer and Amber was lovely..
Review 112:Being picky, I would prefer if they had more cupboard space and shelves - OK for a night or two but if you're there longer, it's nice to unpack.
Review 113:Usual Premier Inn comfort - if you've been before you know what you have across the board. Ease of access to Excel and the DLR - both very close. Quiet neighbourhood. The front desk people were really nice and helpful. Comfy bed, biggish rooms.
Review 114:Staff, everything in the room, cleaning, beds were so comfy, towels and pillows provided in the room even more than needed, great location if staying for an event at ExCel
Review 115:Reception told I did not have a booking when we arrived there after searching my name, later I showed her my booking number and then she found my booking. It was disappointing when we check-in
Review 116:Room is good
Review 117:The room we were given was adapted for a disabled person as myself and my husband are both able bodied the bed was small and low to the ground, my husband is only 5ft 9inch and his feet hung over the bottom of the bed
Review 118:The double bed was very small and, overall, the room was stuffy and hot.
Review 119:Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Reasonable price. Very convenient for the Excel centre.
Review 120:Hotel is really nice and you get what you pay for - such a lovely area. The rooms are clean and tidy - had a great stay ! This is our second time coming back will definitely return again :)
Review 121:Very close to the airport/railway so could hear trains and planes easily. Air con pretty noisy so had to leave the window open to cool the room down
Review 122:Good location, comfortable. Great wifi connection.
Review 123:made a booking for a quad room 2adults and two children. we arrived early the room wasn't ready!!paid and went out and when i came back to pick the key for my room the room i paid for was given to another customer!!so we had to wait for 30mins and they gave us a triple room which they have to add another bed to make it a quad room!! it was a bit cramped!!
Review 124:nice staff and very friendly
Review 125:Desk lady said the cab would be 8 pounds; the driver tried to charge us 12. Compromised on 10 which was alot for a 5 minute drive.
Review 126:Location to London City airport was perfect
Review 127:only downside was no lunch service, but directed to the nearby pub instead so not a big issue
Review 128:Location great. Only 5 mins walk from Prince Regent DLR. Comfy bed. Large family room with double and two single beds (not sofa bed). Lovely cooked breakfast plus fruit salads, pastries etc. Friendly staff. Great all round hotel.
Review 129:The room 129 was unbearably hot - we complained to Reception and have contacted the Customer Feedback e-mail review as we were asked to do so. We were supplied with a fan but this just circulated the hot air about and there seemed to be a problem with the air conditioning. I would hope that we receive a reply to our e-mail as soon as possible as we would hate other guests to be so hot in a room and have no source of cool air - the window wouldn't open and had a sign saying the air conditioning would cool the room.
Review 130:The staff were very friendly and breakfast was very good.
Review 131:The view from our window.
Review 132:Absolutely amazing just wish we could have stayed longer than two nights. The staff were just fantastic nothing was too much trouble. The family room was perfect for the four of us but best of all was the food which was just gorgeous and great value we hadn't booked out and were already planning another visit !
Review 133:Ideal location for O2. Bit of a walk from tube with your bags. No available food on arrival. Luckily a pub nearby serving basic pub grub. Ok if you like Chips with everything.
Review 134:Prices a little high , menu limited but good quality not your usual rubbish in some hotels
Review 135:Staff very welcoming, polite , polar opposite to the Ibis Euston ,
Review 136:The price was awfully high. 384 pound for 3 nights not including breakfast or the fast wi-fi is wayyyyy too high.
Review 137:I loved the room and the customer service was great!!
