Reviews for Hôtel des Barris
Review 1:the property is old and has been converted. stairs are steep and the corridors very tight. not much they can do about it but lighting in hall could be better.
Review 2:straightforward. really central and nice view of cathedral.
Review 3:Poor air conditioning, very hot, hotel did open till 4pm and bar was only open from 7:30 pm till 10pm and staff stood over you at 10 to pressure you to finish
Review 4:Location
Review 5:The air conditioning in the room is not working properly. This made the loft room extremely hot.
Review 6:The location of the hotel right next to the River is beautiful.
Review 7:air con facility was of no use as tempreture was mid 30's. Room very hot a & stuffy. Needs better air con. Breakfast could have been better.
Review 8:Location is excellent our room overlooking river superb. Stafff very friendly & helpful. Free WiFi also an added bonus. Although the building is in need of some TLC it is a nice building fitting into the old town. Be careful of the winding staircase.
Review 9:Extremely hot, humid weather with ineffective air conditioning.
Review 10:Lovely historic city, hotel on the river and enjoyed the music festival. Several beautiful squares with numerous fine restaurants.
Review 11:Staf speaks no word English, I know French people hardly speak English, but i you work in an internal hotel with the possibilty to hire a room with help of booking.com this is to our opinion required.
Review 12:Location, and very nice and good room.
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:By taking the bus from the station, the location of the hotel is excellent with a great view of the impressive cathedrale. The hotel staff members are frienfly and one young lady from Oregon was an added surprise because I had finished my university degree in her home town.
Review 15:It turned hot that day. My room faced SW so it was quite warm. The owners had provided a room air conditioner and it helped some.
Review 16:The people who owns this hotel have worked hard to make this ancient building comfortable for its guests. My room was beautifully remodeled and modern. The view was of the river, cathedral, and other ancient buildings
Review 17:the only draw-back: staff is at desk only at specific times.... not convenient, unless you know their hours ahead! what saves this is that parking is available right across the street.
Review 18:The hotel didn't open until 4pm. Fortunately the person I was meeting in Perigueux found that out and was able to get the key. I think this information could perhaps be more prominently displayed on the website information.
Review 19:The view of the river and cathedral from the bedroom window
Review 20:great room - good size - 3rd floor - no lift - view of cathedral - timber beams in vaulted ceiling. Right next to river - other side is old city. Would stay again
Review 21:It does look a bit dark and old when you first walk in.
Review 22:The room was right at the top of the building which wasn't a problem, it just meant it was really quiet. The view over the river and cathedral was amazing and there is free parking across from the hotel which does get busy so you have to be a bit lucky. The wifi was strong as well.
Review 23:Hotel not open until 4pm which meant we had to wait until we could get in. Reason given for late opening of hotel was problem of electricity. No lift to the 3rd floor where our room was.
Review 24:American lady who works there friendly and very helpful. Other staff ok.
Review 25:Spiral stairs up to our room on the 3rd floor weren't very well lit & there were holes in a couple of stairs you need to look out for.
Review 26:The locaton was excellent as was the restaurant within the hotel. Lovey to sit out each evening on the terrace overlooking the river with superb views of the cathedral. we had room on the top floor with beams & it was lovely.
Review 27:Breakfast was limited - kettle needed cleaning, as water came out with lumps of limescale!
Review 28:The hotel was centrally located, within walking distance of the main attractions - the Cathderal, weekly markets & restaurants. Great base for cheap break, no-frills Holiday stay. Ask for room with view of the cathedral!
Review 29:No complaints.
Review 30:The location couldn't have been better, just over the bridge, opposite the cathedral. It was very easy to walk into the centre and see the sites. My room had a direct view of the cathedral – I could watch it changing colour in the early morning light!
Review 31:We were overcharged by a barman for drinks. A complaint was made to the management who said "we cannot offer you a refund but you can have a free drink, which I did not want but reluctantly accepted. We were also told that we should sort out the problem with the Barman"' we felt management should have sorted out the problem. Overall it spoiled our stay at this Hotel.
Review 32:Good location, some staff and management OK. In General a reasonable stay.
Review 33:No elevator and rickety staircases with odd cabbage smell. Failing air conditioning which only gave 30 minutes of cooling before giving up. Toilet separate from shower room where the sink was.
Review 34:Location in a quiet area with views of Cathedral and River. Spacious room with character. Good price. Comfortable bed and full size couch (third floor room). Good soundproofing in rooms. Free wifi.
Review 35:The air-conditioner didn't cool effectively. We were in a room on the top floor and the window was in the roof. You had to stand on a chair to be able to see the nice view that was possible.
Review 36:It was very close to the old quarter of the town. A quick walk across the bridge and you were at the cathedral and the "gateway" to the rest of the old quarter. Staff were helpful and friendly and good free parking available just across the street.
Review 37:This is a very old hotel, that embraces its oldness. This means no elevator (good luck with a heavy suitcase up the narrow stairs), rudimentary air-conditioning, and very dated decor. Still, the hotel was very cheap, so we were happy enough for a night.
Review 38:Location in Perigueux was as good as you could want - just over a small bridge to the old town. The view of the city over the river was superb, changing with the setting sun.
Review 39:The room was small but for one night OK. Rather noisy due to passing cars and people. Don't even think of ordering french fries.
Review 40:sitting on the terrace at the borders of the river, you have a wonderful view on the cathedral and the ancient houses. Meanwhile fish and beautiful dragonflys are passing by. Personnel is friendly and helpful.
Review 41:Above a pub noisy until 2430hrs
Review 42:Old hotel room had been update to modern facilities

Review 51:Location great view (rooms on 1st and 2nd floor on riverside)
Review 52:little bit noisy but worth it.
Review 53:Location and the stunning view from our window. Downstairs restaurant overlooking river - and a good meal too.
Review 54:Pleasant hotel in the right place
Review 55:Lots of stairs to climb to third floor.
Review 56:Excellent location, friendly staff, great pizza, and old world charm!
Review 57:No elevator.
Review 58:Very friendly, accommodating staff. Excellent cleanliness. Location across bridge ffrom old town. Basic accommodation.
Review 59:Concerns about safety. Fire doors did not fit and would not close. Uneven stairs and broken stair fixings. Stair handrails were loose.
Review 60:Excellent position and view across the river to the Cathedral. staff helpful.
Review 61:Steep stairs without a lift. Shower/bath arrangement, unable to hang shower assembly on a bracket which makes it difficult to shower with one hand.
Review 62:Friendly staff. Good restaurant and food.
Review 63:Arrived around mid day and couldn't check in to room until 4pm, no flexibility for check in as reception was closed until then.
Review 64:Lovely hotel on the river, lively bar and restaurant with a Spanish influence.
Review 65:Can't get a much better spot in Perigueux. On the river, with cathedral views. You can smell the incense!
Review 66:The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 67:Getting to the room
Review 68:View from room
Review 69:bar downstairs was closed, but i was a bit out of season
Review 70:close to the old town rustic room
Review 71:no lift!
Review 72:It's quite close to th town centre, but a bit far from the train station, at least 20 minutes' walk.
