Reviews for Phoenix Hotel
Review 1:Found location excellent for our needs. Room, facilities & staff were excellent. Would stay here when next in London. Will recommend to family & friends.
Review 2:Very comfortable, very clean and in an excellent location. Had requested a quiet room and indeed it was very quiet and I had an excellent nights sleep. Would most definitely stay here again.
Review 3:no much
Review 4:The Hotel was very clean and the upkeep of the building was in great shape. The location was pretty good. Definitely a good walk to main attractions but the bus/tram was easy to take right into the core. Breakfast was good about the same as most of the hotels.
Review 5:- A lady at the reception was always rude and unfriendly. Nevertheless, the rest of the staff was polite. - There was no fridge or mini bar in the room and it was quite noisy.
Review 6:- Very clean - Excellent location
Review 7:Continental breakfast was adequate but no better. There wasn't a great deal of choice in what to have, but with the notable exception of the rather stale bread products, everything was pretty good.
Review 8:Good location, fantastic comfortable beds, very pleasant staff. Room was amazingly well fitted out, given that it was tiny! The good far outweighed the bad.
Review 9:The room I live is just next to the street, which is very , very noisy The room is very hot, no air come from outside even open the window
Review 10:The breakfast is wonderful The location is really convenient
Review 11:there was a problem but it was sorted quickly and professionally so this is not a complaint.
Review 12:friendly staff. breakfast good standard. convenient location for underground.
Review 13:The reception staff. I have never seen such impolite employees in a hotel again. They barely spoke to me for 2 days, even when i left and thanked them for the pleasant staying they didn't even say goodbye! Rather than that, everything else was above my expectations.
Review 14:Room was spatious and very very clean.Nice relaxing matress on bed. Bathroom super clean as well, with hot water 24h in the shower. Plenty of breakfast and tasty as well (especially the chocolate cupcakes) but with limited variety. Staff at the breakfast room was very polite and ready to help you. Just 2 minutes walk from Bayswater Station and 7 minutes from Queensway Station. Nice quiet district with a lot of options for food and coffee, plus small gift shops. I would recommend it for a short stay in London. Real value for money.
Review 15:The bedroom was quite stuffy but not really a problem for us.
Review 16:Great location - near 2 tube stations and Hyde Park. Located on a really quiet road but still only a few step from a main street with lots of good shops and restaurants.
Review 17:People at the reception should be more smiling and kind and taking care about guests, not just giving them the key of the room.
Review 18:The breakfast and the kindness of all the ladies at the breakfast room. All of them very prompt to the need of the guests. The location of the hotel, very closed to the tube station .
Review 19:In general everything went well, I would have expected just a little 'more kindness in the reception staff. The web site was not specified that breakfast was continental and not full English breakfast .
Review 20:The cleaning of the room was perfect. The location was two minutes from the tube station.
Review 21:The hotel was far too hot. Had to use the fan to try to sleep in November! Not a good night's sleep.
Review 22:Great little boutique hotel at a great price! Small, compact room...perfect for 1. Borrowed the iron which came within 5 minutes.
Review 23:Room small so only one person could walk around at a time. Room very warm despite the radiator being fully turned off.
Review 24:Good location with plenty local amenities & two metro stations.
Review 25:It is a lovely old building & so unfortunately the windows and bedroom doors did rattle through the night but we were so pleased you could open the windows for fresh air it was worth putting up with this.
Review 26:Great location, so many places to eat & drink. We were seeing a film at the Lounge in Whiteleys and couldn't be closer. All the staff were pleasant.
Review 27:non
Review 28:the hotel was close to central london with a near by underground station.many resturant and supermarkets.the hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were great
Review 29:Room was quite small, but ok. Also was struggling with the room being very hot ( in November). But these are very small points.... No real big issue.
Review 30:Location was great, staff very friendly and breakfast was good
Review 31:No problems with anything
Review 32:Liked the small, friendly relaxed feeling in the hotel. Comfortable bed, good shower, towels and bed changed each day. It was good to have windows open.
Review 33:Breakfast room is too small and crowded for the amount of people the hotel accommodates, staff down there also pretty rude.
Review 34:The hotel is centrally located on a quiet street and kept very clean. Reception staff was friendly.
Review 35:Staff very attentive, excellent breakfast, great location, nice clean rooms. I've stayed here several times in the past, and for my money it's the best hotel in London.
Review 36:Room a little on the small size
Review 37:Very good location near to Bayswater and Queensway underground stations. Good value for money if you are just after a bed for the night
Review 38:As usual for this price range in London the room was quite small but we expected this. We asked for a ground floor because of bad knees but had to carry luggage up stairs.
Review 39:Very clean, quiet and a good bed.
Review 40:Wifi sucks in the evening.
Review 41:Close to the tube, Queensway with several shops and pubs, small but very clean and well equipped rooms, quiet. Nice breakfast. Not far from the Stansted coach station Marble Arch. Any goal in London easy to access by the tube.
Review 42:Limited food options after 6pm
Review 43:All requests were carried out without delay, e.g. when I asked for an iron it was at my door within 5 mins. Very friendly staff, very comfortable lounge area.
Review 44:Great hotel, really good value for money. The room was tidy and comfortable, the staff were efficient and cordial. I really recommend Phoenix hotel specially in light of the usual extremely high prices of London.
Review 45:Plumbing appeared to be a bit dodgy but i finally got the hang of it and it was fine.
Review 46:Great location. Comfortable room and bed. Very clean. Adequate breakfast.Would stay here again.
Review 47:Not a lot they can do about it - but the noise from other rooms does travel. Particularly doors slamming.
Review 48:Single room is an ideal size for a solo traveller for a couple of nights. Location is good and convenient for tube, facilities excellent quality (e.g. shower), spotlessly clean, breakfast good. Wifi excellent. Overall good value.
Review 49:The Wifi was terribly slow and unreliable. My connection kept getting lost which was unfortunate as I was hoping to do work in the hotel in the evenings.
Review 50:The cleanliness of the room was great as was the breakfast and location of the hotel.
Review 51:furniture is very old ,I think they should change it long time ago also the bed
Review 52:waiters was very friendly during breakfast time ,much more better than reception staff
Review 53:All fine. Breakfast was busy but perfectly nice.
Review 54:Very friendly staff, nicely renovated decor, good value. Hotels in this price bracket in London can vary a lot and this was a pleasant surprise.
Review 55:Fully reserved for most time, almost impossible to check in in the morning (if you arrive early).
Review 56:Helpful staff, small but clean and bright room, very good location
Review 57:The location was really good as it was just a short walk to hyde park and to both bayswater and queensway underground so only a few minutes to all the tourist attraction. The hotel had a few restaurants in the surronding are which was handy. The rooms very very clean and modern and the staff were very helpfull.
Review 58:Agnes at reception was super lovely and not only did she help me but I also saw her help a lot of other guests. Small, comfy room with renovated bathroom. Decent breakfast The price! Close to lots of great restaurants and two Tube stations. Luggage room to keep your luggage if you came early or stayed later. Nice large lounge area to hang out; computer where you could print out your boarding passes or maps.
Review 59:The hotel was very clean, quiet and located in an area close to two tube stations and Hyde park. The room was very small, however I'm one person and I was there to just to sleep and shower so it wasn't a problem.
Review 60:The hotel was difficult to find when we didn't know where we were going, but we were able to find it every time after the first.
Review 61:I loved how upscale and comfortable this hotel is without breaking the bank. I enjoyed that they had all the amenities we needed and both breakfast and wifi were included in the price of the room.
Review 62:It doesnt have to do with the hotel, but Bayswater tube station doesnt have elevator nor escalators.
Review 63:Friendly staff, breakfast, proximity to the tube, safe location
Review 64:The matresses are soft and the covers not pure cotton poor room isolation
Review 65:Very good and quiet location close to 3 underground lines. Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 66:The WiFi was not working on my android Sony Xperia phone. The reception staff said it was my phone's fault, which is weird, since it has never happened to me before.
Review 67:The area was perfect for us, as we wanted to celebrate the Greek Orthodox Easter and the Aghia Sophia cathedral was around the corner. Very close to 2 tube stations and some bus lines, including a night one. I had asked for a room with a view on the road in front of the hotel, which we got and it was wonderful, as there was a small park across the street. The room was really nice, comfortable and not small at all. The bathroom was a bit on the small size, with wonderful fresh towels daily, but there could be some complimentary cotton toiletries, I think. Cleanliness was first class. The staff were friendly and polite. Breakfast was excellent. Big variety and fresh products.
Review 68:The lift is so small and slow and the cleaning personal is not so eficient, they didn't changed my towel in all week, didn't replace the empty bottles of shampoo, forgot to let me tea and sugar and didn't changed the dirty cups.
Review 69:The breakfast was enough: jam, cheese, bread, cereal, eggs, juices... The location is amazing, it's 2 minutes away from this "Athenian Shop" which is a little store were you can buy Evain Water for half price, I got two 1.5 liter bottles, two 33 cl bottles and two small limonades for less than £3, which believe me is crazy unexpensive for London. It's 3 minutes away from boots, superdrug, the postal office and Whiteleys, also lots of restaurants are really close by. The bed was very confortable, the view is great, is a very quite street and there is a bus line that stops right outside. The reception people is very nice and you can book taxis with them for half the normal price.
Review 70:Nothing specific.
Review 71:Staff was very helpful, we could also leave our luggage in hotel during day of our departure. Would cost 8 pounds per piece to leave it at station otherwise. We had a great stay in London and Phoenix Hotel was part of it.
Review 72:room is v small and slightly too warm
Review 73:great staff who brought me an ironing board - i've paid twice as much at a premier inn and had to fetch my own
Review 74:Wifi was free, but not very well for Skype. Whatsapp etc worked fine.
Review 75:The room was okay for a 1 person room. I only stayed 1 night for business, and I could check in early and leave my luggage the next day after checking out. The staff was very kind, breakfast was simple: pick from yoghurt&cereal, little buns, toast, cheese, ham and jam/nutella. The area was perfect, near Bayswater underground, or a little further you could get onto the central line. Kensington park nearby, Whiteleys across the street. At night I did close the window, and the hallways may get a bit noisy, but nothing uncommon in a london hotel.
Review 76:I would of preferred a English cooked breakfast and there was a fault with one of the sockets in are room. ( which I did report to the receptionist on are departure)
Review 77:The staff were very helpful and it was a nice tidy hotel.
Review 78:Location! In order to get to places of interest needed to take the Tube. Not close to anything by walk. (Except Kensington Palace)
Review 79:Clean room, nice breakfast, free WIFI
Review 80:The room was hot in the middle of March without the radiator being on, so probably a problem on a warm summer's day, I guess that's why there was an electric fan in the wardrobe.
Review 81:Great quiet location in W2 5 minutes walk from Bayswater tube and plenty of convenience stores at the end of the Street. Excellent continental breakfast.
Review 82:Only negative was the size of my room. It wasn't a big issue as I wasn't in it very much, I just didn't have much room for getting ready in the mornings. However, on the floor I was on there was other single rooms that were bigger - if you are staying try and get placed in one of these.
Review 83:Location was excellent, staff very friendly, breakfast was good - no long queues despite number of guests. I was returning late at night and there was always someone on reception to buzz you in straight away. Free wifi was brilliant. Lovely seating area beside reception. Very enjoyable stay.
Review 84:The breakfast (continental) is not good. Bread and cakes are not fresh house made.
Review 85:Good money-value option. 5 minutes away from the underground station of Bayswater. Room was very clean and the wifi worked properly.
Review 86:They don't let you bring a guest to your room after 23:30 Hello - I'm on vacation here ! seriously !? are we in London - or in Tehran ?
Review 87:Cozy and pleasant hotel, very clean, with a breakfast that is much more than continental. free wifi - works good in all spaces.
Review 88:Rooms are NOT sound proof at all - I could hear everything that happened outside and in the hallways. Good that hotel is on a very quite street so noises did not disturb much. I also stayed during the week so hotel was not noisy.
Review 89:Free continental breakfast was very good and with enough food. Good location, excellent and very kind staff, free good speed wi-fi. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my stay.
Review 90:For top floor rooms the lift can be a little slow but if you allow for this it's no real inconvenience.
Review 91:The staff were friendly and efficient, room comfortable and clean. Good shower.
Review 92:Excellent location in central London (200 meters away from Bayswater Underground Station) Good value of money (around 50 pounds per night for single traveler, for Free WIFI, Free English/Continental Breakfast)
Review 93:WiFi required constnt logging in in order to use it.
Review 94:Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location - easy to get almost anywhere in London. Lots of fairlyc heap restaurants around from Amalaysian to Moroccan to Chinese.
Review 95:No iron and ironing board in the room but you can call for one and only one elevator which is sometimes full if you are not on the top floor.
Review 96:Nice new carpets , new bathroom and good tv channels .tea and coffee in room , lovely continental breakfast and best location .
Review 97:one of the best reasonably priced hotels I have stayed in in London. My single room was kind of small but OK enough not to mark it under "What didn't you like"
Review 98:I cannot think of anything wrong with this hotel. Everything was as I expected to be.
Review 99:A clean hotel 3-5 min walk from the Bayeswater tube station. Free wifi and tea/coffee making facilities. Continental breakfast included.
Review 100:It rained, but that's London, right? (-:
Review 101:The room was small but very clean, comfortable and warm upon arrival. Staff were helpful but not intrusive (much appreciated (-:).There was a good choice at breakfast (both continental and cooked) and the location is simply great - close to two underground stations (3 and 4 minutes walk) as well as to Kensington Gardens (5 minutes walk). Althought the hotel is just 1 minute walk from a main street, the side street and Kensington Gardens Square where it is located are very calm and quiet. As I usually travel without computer, the public computer and printer in the reception area was also very helpful.
Review 102:London area should be cheaper. It is ridiculous to pay much money for such small rooms. But this has nothing to do with this hotel, as this is a common problem all over London.
Review 103:The staff was easy-going with the check-out time. Great 24h service.
Review 104:Central location easily reached 1 stop on the tube from Paddington Railway Station. Hyde Park and the various museums within walking distance. Spoilt for choice local eateries.
Review 105:-very small single room ; old not renewed -internet connexion to be renewed : signal always lost -breakfast: very bad cheap quality
Review 106:-location is amazing very convenient close to 2 tube lines and 2 mn walk from Notting Hill -Team very kind and efficient - lobby renewed and welcoming
Review 107:Wifi was free but quite patchy at times. Walls were quite thin so you could hear your neighbours talking and windows to street were not double glazed so was noisy at times.
Review 108:Hotel was very close to an underground station. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. a very good selection at the breakfast buffet but only Hong hot were boiled eggs. Room was very clean, large and spacious and bathroom was smallish but good enough for our needs. Tea and coffee making facilities but no fridge. Tea, coffee, biscuits and bathroom extras were replenished each day.
Review 109:Friendly & lovely staff including the management, perfect continental breakfast, comfort bed & stay, Cleanliness, always warm due to the heating system is always on, free good wifi, PC with Internet access at the lobby with printer for free, good location near to Payswater station & Quweens way station linked you to all London, Hyde park 10min walk, there is shops, supermarkets (Tesco & sainsbuary's), cafes(Costa-Starbuks..etc), resturants(Arabics-Chinese-McDonald's- BurgerKing-Subway..etc), laundry, banks(Barclays-HSBC-Santander-TSB), Whiteleys Mall is just few seconds walk from the hotel. If you need any thing just ask the the reception 24hrs, I felt like I'm home.
Review 110:nothing in the hotel itself. Underground was partly out of service during our visit. Made trips more time consuming.
Review 111:Nicely located, close to underground. Quiet area. Well kept hotel, friendly staff.
Review 112:Walls super thin but seems typical for older hotel buildings in London.
Review 113:Nice hotel in a good location. Typical for London small room but adequate. Bathroom very nice. WiFi free and excellent in room.
Review 114:The room, like in most other hotels of the same level in London, is rather small.
Review 115:The breakfast was good enough, staff was friendly, the location is excellent. Overall, it was a good experience - and the price was reasonable.
Review 116:The hotel was great, the room and bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of choice of food to eat for breakfast. It is located in a great spot near two tube stations and there are plenty of choices of pubs and restaurants in the area. We would thoroughly recommend it.
Review 117:nothing
Review 118:I found all the staff at The Phoenix to be exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble, and they always have a smile and a joke with you. The standard of cleanliness and attention to detail in the housekeeping was also excellent. Highly recommended, as the staff are clearly proud to be working there, and go out of their way to try to accommodate your requests.
Review 119:The bead was lumpy and not comfortable though the last time in a different room the bed was great
Review 120:The staff that we saw where lovely and the location is great with some lovely eating places near by .
Review 121:nothing at all
Review 122:situation very easy to find no noise at night room fair size for London we were able to check in easily at midnight good bathroom with plenty hot water excellent breakfast included - continental but included everything you could want
Review 123:The Steps at the front. Heavy entry door to hotel People smoking on the steps. Shower. The way to turn on is weird. Two taps one to tun on the water and the other for hot and cold adjustment very weird. With two taps one would expect hot in one and cold in the other; especially as that was the working on the vanity basin. Was concerned from previous reviews about the staff at the hotel, my thoughts were that English is not their first language so the responses are "scripted" or based on the English that has been taught. This did make it hard to communicate sometimes
Review 124:Free Wifi Free Brekkie This was ok however the staff appeared to have been given scripts for what to say to guests, as appeared English was not their first language they chatted a lot in other languages, and thus seemed quite brusque even rude. Was a shower so after sorted the issues was great as not over a bath. Room overlooked the park nice. There was bus within a few minutes walk although I used the tube: I did carry my luggage up the stairs at Bayswater no lift no escalator. The lift is at Queensway on the tube. I could open the window awesome
Review 125:Nothing
Review 126:The area around the hotel has all facilities including excellent restaurants, tube stations and shops. The hotel is spotlessly clean and comfortable.
Review 127:One small lift - got a bit busy trying to get up and down to breakfast in the basement from the fourth floor. Rooms a little dated.
Review 128:Far enough away from major roads to ensure noise levels of traffic etc. did not disturb sleep. Room very clean.
Review 129:Room very, very small Room too hot with no a/c to cool Staff mediocre Bathtub almost impossible to get out of Bathroom very small Too many steps between lobby & elevator
Review 130:Location
Review 131:Good location, close to the metro lines, decent rooms and friendly team. A real find given price, location and quality. Skip the crowded and stuffy breakfast room and have your coffee in notting hill
Review 132:-nothing. everything was PERFECT. thanks a lot!
Review 133:room- big clean and relaxing. I was working all day and it was the perfect environment. no noise at all, everything was perfect, also all the facilities -staff- amazing. The printer was not working and the receptionist print that for me in another place and gave the printed boarding pass to me -location -breakfast -value for money
Review 134:Friendly and helpful staff at reception. Friendly and helpful manager. Excellent breakfast selection to suit everyone. Friendly staff at breakfast. Free wifi in the hotel. Secure luggage room. Cleanliness of rooms, reception and toilets. Great location - 5mins walk from Kensington Gardens. 2min walk from Bayswater metro station.Lots of shops, restaurants and pubs nearby.
Review 135:Rooms were very small but Its the only thing negative I can say.
Review 136:Great location, Hyde park right around the corner and the hop on hop off bus tour stops are there too. We are late 20's couple with a 6month old and it served it's purpose for us for the 2 nights we were there. Breakfast was ok, just your basic toast, ceral, eggs and cold cut meats, but it's all you need
